Date of visit: 8÷5÷2015 I love the Peaberry Medium Roast from Kona Mountain Coffee. Ever since my parents brought it back for me a couple of years ago, I’ve been yearning for this coffee, but didn’t want to pay the shipping fee. So, I stocked up. At $ 60 per bag, this coffee isn’t cheap, but I think it’s worth it. I have four bags and will be good to go for hopefully a couple of months. The people that work here are friendly, although when my Dad went back to get more coffee on another day, there was a sign that said«Out for lunch, back in 30» When my Dad came back 30 minutes later, the sign was still up and a crowd around the door. I thought that this was a little weird as it was at 5pm. I recommend the peaberry medium roast if you want to splurge on some coffee. It’s smooth and smells absolutely amazing. I take my coffee black, but I guess you can add milk and sweetener. I think you can also go into their store for a cup of coffee. They also have other coffee related gifts for sale.

Coffee is amazing. We bought a ton of it to take back. Would recommend if you are a coffee lover. Our favorite was the medium roast, which turned out to be very flavorful(all depending on your coffee style). We also bought some chocolate and macadamia nut for our family. Will definitely stop by if i see it at the airport.

I think the idea of this place is 5 stars and the reality of it is 3 stars. I’ve been here a few times before and although I like the coffee, I don’t love it. Shiny roast is typically not my favorite, but the words 100% Kona coffee have an amazing effect on me. Sure enough, I bought a small 7 oz. back of the signature roast and tried it for the first time this morning, post vaca and all. It was pretty good. BUT, my expectations being what they are and all, it’s not great coffee. They don’t offer up a «roasted date» stamp, so who knows if it’s fresh or semi fresh or whatever. West Coast coffee roasters like Stumptown, Verve, Victrola and Sight Glass have spoiled me filthy rotten indeed. Also, the iced coffee/slushy machine broke down and the cost to repair it was too high, so they no longer have that going for them.

With Starbucks in the same plaza, and a cup of .99 cent ABC Kona coffee right next door, you’ll be tempted to NOT walk into this coffee place. Although they specialize in coffee beans and gifts, their brewed coffee tastes so much better than Starbucks. Not as bold as Starbucks but you taste the locally grown, distinct Kona coffee that you can’t get at Starbucks. When in town, this place is a must. Warning: a large cup of coffee will cost you $ 5 or so. But I think that’s because of it being in Waikiki. I’m sure Starbucks costs the same(can’t confirm because I went here 7 days straight, bypassing Starbucks).

Really wonderful costumer service from the folks at this location. It’s nice how they offer you free coffee to try & you can have your order shipped for free if you buy over $ 100, which it’s quite easy to do here. They were quite knowledgable about their coffee too & I learned something knew from them. For example, did you know that a darker roast has less acid hence it lessens your chances of getting acid reflux?! I was very happy to know this because I suffer from reflux & gave up coffee for a while but I used to drink a light to medium roast. Recently, because the bf likes a dark roast, I’ve started drinking a little in the mornings & I haven’t gotten any reflux. Could be total chance but it was nice to know a certain fact about coffee.

Good service, but they don’t serve coffee by the cup starting March 16, 2014, which is a letdown. The Kona coffee is good, not great. However, the primary business here is selling coffee beans, and chocolate covered nuts… All of which they do well with some knowledgable staff. If you are lucky to have somebody from the farm be at the store(Mark), they can educate you well about the coffee roasting process. The samples are generous and their chocolates rather good.

Small store that sells their private label Kona coffee and blends. They brew a decent cup of 100% dark kona coffee, not the best I’ve had in Honolulu but pretty close. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about coffee and tea’s. Buy a few bags and they will ship the coffee for you if the suitcase is too full.

This place is a tourist trap, but the coffee is pretty decent. I’ve had better kona coffee but this isn’t bad at all. If you’re lookin to try kona, just remember to get the 100% kona rather than the kona blend which is what you get at most places.

This is a place where you pick and serve your own coffee, but help is there for someone like me who looked lost. The cashier was very helpful. The coffee here was okay; I’ve had better Kona Coffee. The guava blend? was awful for my taste — should have sampled it before serving to purchase. The price for the drinks are not as bad and the taste of it is very mediocre, but their gift selections like organic tea, coffee beans and sea salts were eye catching — just tooooo pricey.

Giving this place 1 star just wouldn’t be fair because it’s clearly a place for people that like black coffee. I am a latte drinker or whatever drink is «unique» to that individual coffee shop, so I took a quick look around… realized it’s a fancier version of going to a 7⁄11 and walked right back out. So if you’re looking for a latte and don’t want it to come out of a «push your finger down on the dispenser till your cup is full» machine then i would suggest you go elsewhere :).

Quality coffee house that brews 100% Kona coffee. They shop offers several roasts on the coffee and several crafted coffee drinks so you do have a decent menu to choose from. They do sell whole bean and ground coffee in ½, 1, 2, and 3lbs coffee bags. Also, they offer a variety of local made products such as seasonings and sauces.

I can’t speak to the quality of the coffee since I don’t drink it, but the store is nice and offers some fun products like macadamia-flavored honey and spicy sugar. They always have some samples available if you want to taste one of the coffee flavors, or try a piece of their chocolates. They try to get you to buy a lot with certain deals, which I think are best avoided unless you were planning on getting a lot of stuff for gifts. I was definitely tempted by the random non-coffee items they offered and I think they’re worth considering if you know your way around a kitchen.

** TOURISTTRAP **(because it’s close to hotels) why are people raving about this place? is it fake? or do people not know coffee? probably both. i have been to all the major islands. we know our coffee. it comes down to the roasting technique used by the coffee grower. we don’t drink overly sweet coffee… no flavored coffee for us. there is good kona coffee and bad ones. just because it’s 100% kona coffee does not mean that it’s the best. it’s okay at best. people come here to get their cup of joe like we did because it is walking distance to hotels in the ala moana area. it is smart of kona mountain coffee to open a stand alone store across from hotels where there is no other coffee place around. it’s not horrible but not 4 or 5 star worthy. if you saw the reviews versus actually going there, you would be disappointed since there is no one there. it’s quite expensive. i wonder how long those bags of coffee beans have been in the store since it’s empty. go to island vintage coffee in ala moana mall(but i prefer the waikiki location). or visit starbucks.

A great shop with some of the best tasting Kona coffee that can be found! They have a large store with different varieties of Kona coffee. they also serve coffee as well. The coffee is a bit pricey but worth it. Very smooth and delicious! The store also has various Hawaiian gifts, macadamia nuts, teas and chocolates!

Delicious 100% Kona coffee of various roasts and flavors. Polite and attentive service. Buy as many bags as you can fit into your suitcase, this stuff is worth it. Kona coffee in my French Press = Java heaven.

Stopped by this place based on the great reviews. Sampled their medium and dark roasts and bought one of each, plus a coconut mocha flavor. They have excellent customer service, not to mention a top notch product. I look forward to trying their teas and chocolates next time I visit. Accept nothing less than 100% kona coffee!

The coffee is excellent, the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and warm without being annoying or intrusive, and they are very generous with the samples. I loved the dark roast and their chocolate-covered macadamia nuts. Their blended coffee drink is delicious and not oversweet. They have several different types for sale — I ended up with a large bag of Roasted Peaberry in my suitcase, which was slightly difficult to pack, but I just wish I’d had room for more. For any would-be coffee roasters out there, they also sell the green beans! I have been very pleased with the beans — they retained their oily texture and their freshness for a long time after I got home. I will definitely be checking into their website and/or returning the next time I am in Hawaii.

This is one of my favorite places when visiting Hawaii. The coffee is superb. The service is always friendly and very knowledgeable. The only downside is, it’s a bit pricey for coffee. Once you have a cup you forget that you’ve paid $ 20 for a pound of coffee haha.

This place saved my life! Shortly after arriving in Waikiki at the Ilikai, I needed to find a good coffee place nearby. Unilocal searches brought up a Starbucks and Milano Coffee shop nearby, but both are closed! I didn’t discover Kona Mountain Coffee until I took a walk around the neighborhood the next day. Every subsequent morning during our stay, my daughter and I made the pilgrimage next door to fill up my thermal coffee mug. It’s a tad pricey though, a small 12 oz coffee runs about $ 2.50. I’m glad I found them. Their 100% Kona coffee rocks. They have a medium and dark roast that they have brewed and ready in thermal carafes. I prefer the medium roast myself. I also liked their iced coffee, which is a blend of the two roasts. For sweetener, they offer a simple syrup and cream to mix in to your liking. These guys have only been open for a month or so. Everyone I talked to in that store was super friendly and helpful. They also sell Hawaiian chocolates that I sampled on a couple of the days. Excellent stuff. Tomorrow, I’ll be returning to home in California. I look forward to the morning when I redeem my Kona Mountain Club Card that has been generously stamped throughout the week for 1 free signature drink! Do me a favor and keep these guys in business for when I come back. :)
