Wide selection of food and bbq for a very affordable price. It’s in scenic Moana park so you eat by the beach basically. There are quite a few homeless people around the park so if that makes you uncomfortable, you’ll hate it.

Ate here on my first night in Hawaii and it was yummy! We were walking back to our hotel when we noticed this place and decided to stop by and grab some food. Ordered spare ribs(I’m drooling right now) and a hawaii’n frost ice cream thing and it was good. Ribs had a lot of flavor! My room mate ordered a loco moco and ate it all super fast. Excellent service

By no means is this a, «must have»… it’s more like a «I’m broke cuz this island is NY expensive, so I guess I’m gonna eat here» kind of place. From the Skrimps to the Curry to the Spam Musubi, everything here was edible and did the job. It’s kind of like how you want to find love, but for the moment, you just need Miss/Mr Right now thing. Don’t get lulled into thinking just because it’s an island in the middle of the Pacific that ALL the seafood is from here. NO. The shrimp is just like the shrimp from the mainland, probably from Vietnam. Salmon is not native to the Hawaiian water. Tuna, ok, probably the only thing local on the menu. If you know your seafood, you’ll notice these things throughout the island. This place is fast food, so expect that quality. It’s the only option on this beach that is in walking distance; unless you get in your car or walk back to your hotel or tent, you might be at their mercy. Still, by no means is this place terrible. It will do the trick in a pinch.

This place is pretty good. I didn’t expect a lot bec there were only 8 reviews and 4 stars but I thought it was really good food for a great price ! I got the bbq mix combination plate for only 9.99. You can easily split this it comes with 3 med size chicken breasts, 2 pieces of bbq beef and 3 short ribs plus Mac salad and rice. I ate half for lunch and the other half for dinner. I’ll post a picture of the meal. Also the cool thing about this place is that it’s right off the beach so you get a nice ocean view and a great meal. The only thing I didn’t like we’re the flys(bec it’s outdoors) they try to get to your food but aside from that great place !

This location is great you can grab some food and head to the beach park. There is a lot of homeless around so watch for that but the food pricing is great for the proximity to Waikiki. If your vacationing on a budget like me this is one of the few spots near Waikiki to grab lunch. My advise, skip Waikiki area and head to china town for lunch.

Food came out fast, but food quality was poor this time. After eating the mini chicken katsu, had stomach pain all day. Maybe the mac salad was slighty bad? Either way dont want to experience that again.

Everyday during the lunch week, I am always in search of something to do. Whether my feet can take me to places like the mall or the beach is more than my soul can ask for. My goal today was to walk to the beach away from my work building for some beach therapy. I hadn’t planned on eating until I smelled barbecue at a distance. I had completely forgotten that L & L had been at Ala Moana Beach park and I’m sure for quite some time now. I decided to take a detour. The red umbrellas with black tables and chairs were inviting. I approached the window after a good menu search. It’s a bit limited compare to their other locations and are fairly priced. My garlic Parmesan fries are a bit pricey but delicious. However, the portion is aplenty for the cost. The view was enjoyable and the weather was perfect and I couldn’t help but sit and nibble a bit before heading towards the ocean a little further. I fairly enjoyed my little time spent here and will probably return when I have a bigger appetite. Parking is plenty during the lunch week and they don’t get busy. Perfect for a quick local grind grab. Credit cards accepted(no minimums). Perfect for after ocean activities.

Leaving the beach my wife and I decided to stop and gran some L&L on the way home. Seeing as how sunset was about to begin we decided last minute to enjoy our bbq chicken plate while gazing across the beach at the cotton candy sky. Chicken was cooked perfectly and a bit too hot to eat initially, which I can appreciate! I’ll definitely be back here again!

Super yummy end to a long day capped at the beach. I had the special honey walnut shrimp with macaroni and the shrimp is fried to perfection with clusters of walnuts Lightly sauté’d to have a nice honey glaze. The only complaint was I ordered large fountain drink and it was short on ice so as a brewed iced tea, the tea was not ice cold. Overall I would definitely eat here again.

Eh! Is this my very first L&L Hawaiian Barbecue review? Hah? Yup. That’s sacrilege! Yet, I find the need to write one now for this legendary local fast-food restaurant! Okay, I know there’s a zillion L&L’s now, and sometimes they all look the same, but we locals know it’s miles apart! In taste, service, and distance! So, when I heard through my «only surfer grapevine» that L&L was planning of opening one at Ala Moana Beach Park concession stand — The cursed spot where no eatery has lasted since the Brady Bunch days… Wow! Wow Lau Lau! L&L HAWAIIANBARBECUE @ ALAMOANABEACH! The surfers, beach bunnies, lifeguards, city & county workers are stoked with this news! PUREGENIUS! I was told that original founder, Eddie«Would Go» Flores, had a lot to do with the decision to open here! I can’t confirm that rumor since some L&L locations are franchised… However, knowing how intelligent this guy is with business & spam… I’m not surprised if it’s all him! Local plate lunches & burgers at one of the busiest beaches in the world? PUREGENIUS! So, it’s «pau hana»(finished work) for me, it’s hot and sticky, but I’m already headed to the southshore to catch some waves… Opps I forgot to pickup something to grindz! Eh, try wait! I remembered dakine L&L just opened at Ala Moana — not the mall — DABEACH! I make an executive decision to give it try… aka SHOOOOOOTS! The concession just mauka on Ala Moana Park Drive. Basically between Magic Island and Ala Moana Beach. So, after parking I head on over and notice how everything is so familiar! Yes, I’m at a beach and the vibe is still typical L&L! I mean do I even need to peruse the menu? Nah. No need, brah! Since it’s all typically the same. Just a quick note though… It averages about .25 — .50 cents more at this location, but hey, most don’t mind since we’re eating on the beach, right? I also«was told» that the Ox-tail soup here is from the original recipe and one of the few places in the chain where it’s an option! Okay, it’s lunchtime, but of course I’m craving breakfast instead… No breakfast menu! Gasp! I proclaim«aaaaai no mo breakfast»… But to my local boy pleasures… I am told«no we get, what you like?». Apparently it’s a rotating menu based on time, but if you ask they’ll make it for you… Maybe it’s my local boy charm or rugged good looks? You pick! So, thinking I’m so special, I order the«Breakfast Special», basically choice of meat(bacon, spam, lap chong, corn-beef hash, or Portuguese sausage, maybe another). I choose the Portuguese sausage, scrambled eggs(2) and steam rice. Cost was around $ 6. Typical greasy spoon breakfast. Yes, it hit the spot! I washed it down with a cup of iced water for .25 cents… Ala Mo tap! All the standard plate lunch, BBQ combos, and hamburger deals can be had at this location. Oh yeah, plus healthier grindz too! Hoo, I recommend… L&L HAWAIIANBARBECUE @ ALAMOANABEACH! It’s really typical, so lingering in the 3-stars range rating, but having this as an option at a super crowded beach is awesome sauce! Now south-side surfers, beach bunnies, Aunty Moana, or the lobster«I’m tanned» tourists don’t have to trek all the way to the mall for an order of fries or iced cold fountain drink… That alone deserves a bump-up! Now my question… Why didn’t this happen sooner? Maybe Hawaii politics? Maybe $$$ overhead? Maybe who knows… The bottom like is that it’s here! And the rotating door at this cursed concession looks to have finally found a permanent resident… CHEEEEEEEEE! L&L HAWAIIANBARBECUE @ ALAMOANABEACH! OVERALLGRADE: 3.8-STARS! UnilocalREVIEW #471/500
