Ever Unilocal for something you are craving and are pleasantly surprised by your find?(Yeah, totally… Everyday!) Haha, that’s what happened to me when I was killing time around the Pali Longs/Safeway area(waiting for my lashes appointment — duh, ENVSLashes FTW!). I wanted a bubble tea/smoothie(#pregnantladycravings) and, thankfully, Unilocal found me M&M Café. I’ve gone a handful of times now and I love their fresh fruit smoothies(and one of the owners, Mai — she’s the sweetest).(If you are familiar to the fruit smoothie shop at Shirokiya upstairs, it’s very comparable.) But, gonna be honest… NOW, I don’t go for the smoothies/bubble teas. Whaaaaaaatttt!!! Yup, it’s true! I am addicted to their crispy waffles. ADDICTED. I can’t even put into words exactly how scrumptious these things are — you just have give up $ 3.50 and try them yourselves.

Haven’t been here in over a year and owner remembered me and what I usually order — chocolate — yum! And yay, they finally take visa/master card woohoo! Drinks are awesome, big and under $ 5.00!

Today as I was walking up fort street mall I really wanted a cold treat! There was a bubble tea place down there that took cash only and I only had $ 2 on me. I figured oh wells it wasn’t meant to be! And then, I saw this shop near longs! And what do you know, they take card! I’m a fan of fresh fruit bubble drinks and how the taste of the real fruit is preserved. I got the watermelon drink and was pleased. The lady tending to me was very kind and took care of me greatly as her customer. There is some inside seating as well as a little one couple set of chairs on the outside.

Sweet owners. Cute shop. REAL fruit. The Papaya drink is delicious! I’m pretty sure I watched her put an ENTIRE papaya in the blender. Hidden behind pali longs, a real gem! Super refreshing, with lots of different flavors to choose from. Definite must try!

M&M first caught my eye at the mention of smoothies in their window signage. They offer a wide variety including strawberry, banana, pineapple, and watermelon. I got the mango smoothie with tapioca for $ 4.50. I’ve had cheaper tapioca drinks elsewhere, but I understand that’s the price you pay for being not only in Hawaii, but Downtown. Smoothies come in one size, which was about a 20 oz. plastic cup. Mango powder, ice cream, and milk were added to the blender. Lots of ice topped off the mixture before blending and being served to me with tapioca. I could detect the smoothie’s powderiness, but I enjoyed the prominent mango flavor and sweetness. The consistency was more like a fine slushie than a creamy smoothie. I’ve had other blended smoothies elsewhere that turned out crunchy and icy, but that thankfully wasn’t the case here. The boba tasted perfectly soft and chewy. I love mom and pop shops like these. The owners are a sweet and hospitable married couple. Their shop was cute and cozy in size. Two small tables were set up against the windows, but M&M seemed more like a grab and go rather than somewhere to sit and relax. A short arcade machine was tucked in the back corner. Children would probably enjoy playing what looked like a fishing game with cute graphics. If you’re around Pali Shopping Center looking for a refreshing smoothie, hot coffee, or hot tea, give M&M a try!

This new café located in the Pali shopping center in downtown next to Hot gossip café and People’s café is awesome! They are a brand new café only being open for business just about a week. The owners(a married couple) are really cool and down to earth people. I had fun chatting away with them. We were shooting the breeze like we have known each other for years. That’s the kind of people you love to meet. I walked in wanting to check this place out… and I’m glad I did. They only serve coffee and fruit shakes. I tried their #6 which is the pineapple flavor but I added bananas in there too. It was ono! They make it with fresh fruits with either milk or condensed milk and ice cream. The choice is yours. The owner had said in the near future he will try to bring in food and breakfast items. Until then, I highly recommend giving this new place a try. They have over 20 different flavors to choose from. Enjoy!
