History

Established in 2005.

Makani is Honolulu’s most luxurious sailing adventure! «Feel the Thrill» as you sail upon the Hawaiian waters with us.

Using the wind as our engine, Makani offers an Eco-Friendly way to enjoy the spirit of the ocean and the breathtaking views of the Island. Let our Captains and crew help create memories as you sail along the shores of Oahu where we are often greeted by dolphins, flying fish, sea turtles, and whales (seasonal).

This U.S.Coast Guard 80 passenger approved vessel has been certified as the safest passenger vessel of its kind. Makani offers a covered cabin seating area, two large, freshwater restrooms, Bose surround sound system, LCD TV, sunbathing net areas, and pilothouse seating. No expense has been spared making Makani the catamaran of choice for the most discriminating customers, including many celebrities.

The Captain and crew will attend to your every need. We hope you will make Makani your first choice for an unforgettable Hawaiian ocean experience!

Meet the Manager

Jon J.

Manager

Aloha my name is Capt. Jon Jepson.

I originally moved from Seattle to Honolulu in the late 80’s and I’ve worked in the marine industry since. Including windsurfing, scuba diving, surfing, sailing and submarines. From all the different types of vessels I have been exposed to, Makani was born. The concept is different from any other charter sailing boat. Combining Grand Prix sailing with charter boat comfort, Makani gives an unforgetable ride!

Makani was built in St. Croix by Gold Coast Yachts and myself over a period of 11 months. Once completed, we sailed from St. Croix through the Panama Canal, up the coast of Central America to Mexico, and then on to Hawaii over a period of 2 months. The construction and delivery of Makani remains an unforgetable experience for me and changed my life forever.

The highlight of my days now is the great crew that have come to work at Makani. We look forward to all the guests who come out for a sail with us on Makani Catamaran… Mahalo! — Capt. Jon
