Great food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, and live music. First time customer, definitely coming back. Had the beef and chicken fajitas, onolicious and enough for two. Gotta try the lychee margarita, best I’ve ever had. Don’t forget the fried ice cream to end your meal

I can say this is pretty damn good! The fact they have Michaladas on the menu says something! Tried the chile verde… Pretty good! Cadillac Margarita… Perfecto!

There are a handful of really good mexican restaurants in hawaii. This however is one of the best. Been going here for some time, but recently had the cravings for this the past few days and am now putting my two cents in via this review. Had many dishes on the menu, but today I had the Enchiladas, one beef, one chicken, this was no disappointment, every thing here is fresh, fast and very Ono’s. Sorry, it looked so Ono, we dug right in for getting to take a couple of pics. Had the Carne Asada last Friday and that was some Ono’s. Friday the company is buying lunch and for my staff I chose Mexico’s of course. Gonna get the Crab Enchiladas, I’m drooling just thinking of this. Pictures to follow this Fridays feast. Aloha

First time coming here in the middle of the afternoon. PERFECT time IMHO. I usually don’t care for crowds, and this place, which can really get packed, was quite empty today at 2:30pm(just 4 other tables occupied). As usual, everything was fresh, we were served quickly and the taste was awesome. Hubby who loves Mexican, and has frequented Mexico(the country) too many times to count… thinks this is the best Mexican restaurant on this island. I’ve tried a few things, but lately is their Crab Chimichangas thats been calling my name! Best Chimichangas I’ve ever tasted! The tortilla is fried to perfection, light & crispy! And it’s not stuffed with only cheap fillers, but with lots of real crab meat, SOGOOD! Only thing that was missing this afternoon was their talented Latino singer they have in the evenings! He will be the reason we continue to come during high traffic times.

If I could give less than a one star I would. Ordered kids nachos. half the tortilla chips were either burnt or soggy had to add my own chips for her to eat with… also ordered flautas… since when are flautas cut up in pieces and look like mini tortas… never will order again

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant on Oahu! Great food, friendly staff and strong margaritas! Their guacamole is AMAZING! Super flavorful and fresh. I love their enchiladas Roja with chicken, the rice and beans are tasty too! Attentive staff with great vibes at Mexicos!

My wife grew up in SoCal with great Mexican food everywhere, but I grew up in Hawaii only knowing Taco Bell. I didn’t know any good Mexican restaurants to take her to till a friend recommended this one. Overall, we had a great experience here! The restaurant itself had a great atmosphere, and was probably as authentic as they could have gotten it, seeing as they are in Hawaii! We went on a not so busy night, and were quickly seated and served. My wife enjoyed the food greatly and it hit the spot for her. She said it wasn’t quite the same taste she remembered from home, but definitely wasn’t bad! We both enjoyed our food and will be back again for it. One downer is the parking situation. It’s a little confusing at first and a small lot, but we were able to get a spot after one go around. One huge plus is it was raining as we left and they had someone stationed outside with an umbrella helping people to and from their cars. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a great local fix for Mexican! Probably the best you’ll get on the island.

One of my all time favorites for getting good Mexican food in Hawaii. Plus the staff are always friendly too. To start, get yourself some of the fresh ceviche to go with your chips and salsa… I promise, you won’t be disappointed. In fact, I love their ceviche so much I’ve ordered it as my entrée on more than one occasion with a side of corn tortillas. YUM! My other favorites are the chile verde(try not to dip your face in the yummy green sauce), enchiladas, and the traditional tacos. Oh, and of course the margaritas too — any flavor, any size, any time! :-) Parking can get crazy but really its no biggie. But if you get impatient, there are 2 other locations(Windward and Ward Centre).

People were not kidding when they say the parking lot here is «crazy» or tight. Like most places in Hawaii, this restaurant has very tiny spaces. There also no lines but little bump things that light up at night. Regardless of the small lot, this place is probably my new favorite Mexican restaurant. I’m not sure if this place us authentic since everything is dressed in Mexican cheese(I have no problem with that), maybe it’s more tex-mex? But it is ONO. If you’re trying to watch cheese intake or calories, this might not be the place for you. Today I divulged in the 3 combo plate, my plate concluded of the chalupa(mini taco salad), enchilada & taco. I could have done w/o the taco. My cousin had the tamales, and YUM! Their is no kick of spiciness in their food but that’s what those hot sauces on the side are for. We also had their Li Hing Mui + Strawberry margarita. omg. Perfect amount of flavor and alcohol. This place is right down the road from my house so I’d probably come back frequently. We came around 5:00pm and left around 6:15pm(we’re girls we talk over dinner). The lot was empty when I pulled up at 4:50pm, but there were people going in and out for take out. But when we left there were no open spaces and cars waiting to get in. Also a guy helping people reverse & park. Lol. Come early and beat the dinner rush. I like the off time anyways, more space in the restaurant to move around. I have a thing against public restrooms unless I’m desperate but my cousin said the restroom is «selfie-worthy» and nicely decorated lol.

The only place in Hawaii to find good mexican food. Majority of the times I come over to Mexicos Restaurant in N School st kalihi, I always felt welcomed. The atmosphere feels foreign and classy. Good atmosphere to enjoy with friends. i really like the margaritas especially the coconut flavor! It feels like you’re in a hammock enjoying the beautiful scenery of ocean and the blue skies. Its really big! I also liked the chimichangas, enchiladas, combo deals. Burritos, and tortillas. But whats really outstanding is that Nachos are always free! Always good with the salsa tomatoes and the best part about it that its always refillable. LOL

Oh oh Mexico. Never really been so I don’t really know. Little James Taylor. But I digress. I’ve been to Mexico. The country not the restaurant. The restaurant was pretty good. I ordered the soup. Not the one with the tripe. It was ok. My friend ordered the enchiladas. I will order that next time. It looked delish! I will also try the chile verde which is how I judge Mexican restaurants. So stay tuned. I work close by so not too many excuses. Except it’s kinda expensive for lunch. Big you get slot of food so good for 2 lunches! Olé!!!

The Nachos on th appetizer menu was so huge and delicious! I had the ground beef. It was piled with cheese ground beef guac sour cream beans jalapeño peppers. Could not finish it all. Did not order anything else as this was ginormous! My husband had the shredded chix and beef burrito. Massive! He could not finish his portion. Only got through 1⁄3 of it. Customer.service was excellent. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice. Local surfer mexican!

Had dinner here again a few weeks ago. I had chilaquiles with added chicken, wife had three enchiladas, and a friend had crab chimichanga. My chilaquiles were really good. Adding the chicken was a good move adding more taste. I had a sangria — it was good but not worth $ 8; sadly they don’t serve beer on tap. My wife’s enchiladas were all good. She had horchata which is always great here. Our friend’s chimichanga wasn’t good; she didn’t eat much thinking maybe the crab was«off». She ended up puking when she got home; whether it was from the crab or another internal bug is unknown. Still our favorite Mexican place on Oahu despite our friend’s episode with the chimichanga.

I met up with a few co-workers for dinner. The last time I was here was about 4 years ago. We had a total of 12 people, 9 adults and 3 kids. We arrived at 5pm for dinner and the place was packed. I didn’t expect them to be so busy. That’s probably the reason why they don’t take reservations. My friend ordered the lychee margarita, which was awesome and huge for $ 12. I got the virgin watermelon margarita, which wasn’t as good for $ 11. The lychee drink was on the sweeter side where the watermelon drink was tart. For my entrée I got the crab taco salad, not bad. I’ve never had crab in my taco salad before and thought I’d try it out. I had asked the server if it was real or imitation crab before I ordered it. I was happy to hear that it was real crab. For some reason the guacamole tasted a bit off. It was a little bitter and a little sour. Maybe too much lemon or lime juice? I also ordered the fried ice cream for dessert. That was awesome! The shell was fried crispy sprinkled with cinnamon. The vanilla ice cream on the inside was still solid and not melted. This item also came with whip cream, chocolate and caramel drizzle. Woohoo!

Let me first start off by saying that 1) I’m not Mexican/Hispanic and 2) I am not from, nor have I ever lived in California. I’ve been told by my Mexican friends on the island that it’s slim pickins when it comes to finding«good» authentic Mexican food in Hawaii. And that’s sad knowing that I find places like Mexico Restaurant to be rather sufficient in satisfying my taco tastebuds. If you’re looking for a decent, hearty, Mexican-American meal, Mexico’s is a good choice. The portions are well-sized and their Crab Enchiladas are HUGE, so come with a big appetite! This location always seems to be busy for dinner, that’s why the servers always seem to be rushing all-over the place. But they do their best to make sure your meal gets in, water glasses are full, and extra complimentary chips and salsa are on your table. The restaurant is located on N. School Street right across from Helena’s in Kalihi. It’s been me and my bf go-to restaurant since we live nearby. Nice traditional western décor, and ample amount of seating is available including a bar area. Obviously the parking here sucks, so if you go a little later in the evening you can park on the street or wait for an opening in their small, narrow(shared) lot in the back. It may not be the most authentic Mexican restaurant in Hawaii, but Mexico isn’t half bad. Give it a try!

Want Mexican? Well, you’d think a place named Mexico Restaurant might just serve Mexican food, no? Located on a fairly busy street, it’s easy to not notice this restaurant. I used to hang out a lot in the area as a kid and never noticed it. I had heard about this place only a few years ago from a co-worker and someone I happened to be sitting next to on a plane. Well, this stranger from California was complaining about how Hawaii doesn’t have authentic Mexican food. I had to agree. But, he did say out of all the places he has been to after living on Oahu for several years, the best was Mexico Restaurant! Today, I went back again for my(I lost track of the number of visits) time. They just recently changed their menu too! We were seated immediately as it wasn’t very crowded at 4pm on a Friday. They gave us complimentary chips and salsa while deciding what to order. We waited nearly 10 – 15 minutes for a waitress to take our order. There were at least four waitresses that noticed we wanted to take our order but they kept talking story amongst themselves. Finally, Kaitlin noticed we were waiting and asked if she could help(and she wasn’t our original server!). She was very apologetic and ended up giving us another chips and salsa on the house. The service from Kaitlin was five stars! But the rest of the waitress team was a measly one star. I ordered the Catrina Taco Salad with shredded beef. Delicious! But the only let down was that they used packaged iceberg lettuce?! I could tell because they had the red cabbage and carrot bits and the lettuce wasn’t shredded. How odd though because extra shredded lettuce and tomatoes were on the side, outside of the shell. Aside from that, this taco salad was bomb! The beef was tasty, guacamole excellent, shell oh so crispy, and the ranch sauce was a nice addition! Tip: save some salsa from the chips and add it to your salad! You won’t be disappointed! All that for $ 12.95 plus tax and tip. YES! But, a pointer… a taco salad isn’t a very great dish to order if you’re on a date or meeting with someone you aren’t comfortable being messy around! Hahahaha I must admit I was pretty messy! But my tummy was happy! Definitely coming back again! I want to try other dishes! :) :P Hopefully they don’t use packaged tossed salad again. This was the first time they had done that! Maybe they just ran out.

Now my favorite place for Mexican food. Great service, and the food is delicious. Nice atmosphere. Chile verde, always. The horchata comes in a little pitcher, and it’s amazing. Food comes in large portions — well worth your money. Downside is parking — if you aren’t there early or just come on the wrong day, there is no parking. In addition, if you have a larger vehicle, you will not appreciate their little lot. Sparse street parking is available.
