Dr Wong is a great doctor and Optometrists. He has extensive experience and his kind, gentle and caring demeanor is the best. His knowledge on contacts, dry and red eyes and overall eyecare is fantastic. He has my highest recommendations, and should see him for a wonderful, personal experience.

I hate to write this review because Dr. Wong is actually a nice person, however this is just about the worst doctor’s experience I’ve ever had and people should be warned before going to see him.
I had made an appointment a week before and was still made to wait almost a full hour before I was seen. I mentioned I needed to get back to work at the 45 minute mark and the receptionist squeezed me in for a quick exam. I understand I was being seen in the middle of someone else’s exam since I needed to get back to work, but Dr. wong didn’t use any equipment to test my eyesight, he just held up lenses to my face. He didn’t even use the glasses frame to hold the lenses! First of all, no patient should be given a half assed exam, this is concerning your health and should not be rushed. Second of all, most doctors would let their patient know that they were running late and ask if the patient wanted to reschedule, right when they checked in.
After I left, they forgot to give me back my insurance card and I had to go back in the next day to get it. I went in and the receptionist had LOST MY INSURANCE CARD. They said they would mail it to me when they found it and to this day I have not seen it in my mail, but fortunately it was in December and I got a new card in January. After wasting another hour with my insurance card, they forgot to call me when my contacts came in. I went in to get them and they only gave me half of my order, when I asked what happened to the rest they said insurance didn’t cover it. I knew this was wrong because I’ve been getting the same amount of contacts for years from my health plan so I made them double check and low and behold they were wrong. Then they ordered another set and again, never called to let me know my contacts had arrived. When I went in, for the fourth time, they only gave me a month’s worth of contacts and when I asked where the rest were they said they didn’t come in yet. I asked them to double check AGAIN, and of course, my contacts were there, they just didn’t even bother to look in the first place.
When my bill came, I was over billed for a fitting that didn’t even take place since I already knew the brand and size of the lenses I use, AND they had charged me for the extra two months of lenses that my insurance had covered. I had to send them corrections to my bill TWICE.
Now I need glasses and when I asked them to fax my prescription to lenscrafters they called me back to tell me that they never did a glasses exam and only a contact lenses exam so I need to go back in for a FIFTH time. Once again, proof that dr. wong did a half ass job. A full eye exam (which is what he charged me for btw) includes contacts and glasses and this is standard for every optometrist. I think it’s safe to say i will not be returning for my glasses prescription.

My girls and I have been with Dr. Wong for a couple of years now. His office used to be located on the top of Kapahulu but I like the new location on Beretania.
Dr. Wong is a great optometrist. He is friendly and explains what each test is for, what he sees, how a healthy eye is supposed to look like and what options/​solutions you have. His staff is very friendly and helpful when you have questions, choosing frames, scheduling appointments, etc. I highly recommend Dr. Wong.

I have been going to see Dr. Wong for a little over a year now and have been really grateful for the staff and for medical care i’ve been given as well. Dr. Wong and his two secretaries that work with him are all wonderful and treat their patients like family. If you are looking for a great doctor with an awesome staff that genuinely care about your health, this is the office to go to. They also helped in setting up my Lasik eye Surgery and walked me through every step of the way, pre and post surgery. I highly highly recommend Dr. Wong and his practice if you are looking for a new doctor to go to.
