Paradise Rent-A-Car

We rented mountain bikes from this company. The older guys behind the counter provide mediocre service, at best. Timothy was the most enthusiastic of the group. The mountain bikes we rented had the most uncomfortable seats imaginable. We used a Groupon or Living Social, which made the cost reasonable. We later found out they rent swim fins and boggie boards. I’d recommend this company to my friends.

I’m surprised at all the low reviews, we rented three cars from here: a Camaro, Jeep convertible, and a fiat. All cars worked well and the service was great. The manager who works the desk and contracts is very helpful and patient. Great customer service and keep in mind it’s just him working at the front so be patient if there are a lot of people. They also have a great selection of cars and very convenient place if you are staying at the hilton

This place fucking sucks! Do not rent from this stupid place. Rented 2 mopeds for a week and it ended up one of them wouldn’t start. Horrible customer service. One of them wasn’t registered!
Do yourself a favor and do not rent from these idiots. Never going back. I want to punch these people in the face.

–Bad customer service: long wait to check in and no acknowledgment while we waited.
+ Our Roadster had expired tags and a broken turn signal. The expired tags were unnoticed until we called a day after we had it. Fortunately, they quickly offered us an upgrade to better bike for no additional fee. (Beware, the roadster is impossibly loud and terrible shocks — we received complaints for the noise from the residence of the Air B&B we were staying at).
+ Our upgraded motorcycle developed a flat front tire our last night with it (This was a seal issue not a puncture led tire).There was no number to call for after hour needs. In the morning we contacted them, they came to pick it up and indicated that they would refund us $ 50 for the trouble. After attempting to contact them 3 times with no returned call, I am publishing this review. Disappointed customer.

I would not rent from this guy again! We rented 2 jeeps to drive to north shore for our vow renewal. Reserved it two days in advance so we could be ready to go at 8 am. When we arrived they were just starting to clean them out so we told them we didn’t have time to wait. Two hours into the rental it began to rain and then discovered the wipers didn’t work or the headlights. We had to wait for 2 hours for an exchange.
We decided to rent for a second day and the guy did give a discount for our previous problems. We drove up the coast to stop at different beaches and swim. Upon returning them this morning only to get charged for «excessive cleaning». Now remember we got them dirty to begin with and now charging us to clean them. When asked where could I clean them myself he replied «there is no cleaning facilities anywhere close». So watch out for the «extra charges». Guessing he was the owner but his attitude was «there ain’t shit you can do about it»!

Got here a mustang for a day and it was great!
People helpful, mustang clean (yr2014) and without any problems. Will rent again when back on Hawaii and in need of a car.
Plus paradise rent a car rents also for 18 aged drivers! The only disadvantage is if you want to return the car the same day you have to do it until 4:30pm, otherwise you will have to return it in the morning, however, that is no big deal.

Provided a car at short notice for a single day hire, price was a little steep although the car ran well and had great air con.

We rented a car from this place. Jay was very helpful, even recommended a place to check at North shore. But our problem was the car. Saw some «critters» inside the car, coming from the vent. Eventually found roaches inside our fresh malasadas. Scared the hell out of us. Hoping we don’t bring any of those roaches back home.
We complained to Jay, he said it’s expected in Hawaii because of the heat and roaches love food. It can smell food from 2 miles away. Jay said, even his car have roaches too!!!
Never again will we rent from small car rental company.

OMG this was the worst experience i’ve ever had with any business in my life. The Jeep I rented was crap, nothing worked, was super dirty, smelled like someone got murdered in it, broke down on the ride home and every possible bad thing you could think of.
Tried to tell the smart ass male manager that his car wasn’t safe for anyone to rent and he just got mad at me. LET ME TELL YOU MR SMART ASS… I WILL DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO GET YOU SHUT DOWN. YOU SERIOUSLY MESSED WITH THE WRONG MAN. WITH MY CONNECTIONS, BE PREPARED TO HAVE A BUSINESS CLOSED SIGN iN YOUR WINDOW THIS YEAR!!!

The owner is an ass. The rest of the people there were very nice. Called and asked about a day rate including tax and fees and was told 67. Went in the next day and the total came to 81. When I asked him why he wasn’t honoring the rate he quoted, he said, «tell me now if you don’t want it so I can stop writing this bill.»
I try to support small businesses but this guy thinks he has a monopoly and tries to push around and take advantage of customers. Go to dollar right next door if you want to pay less and be treated with respect.

Steve was amazing and very accommodating to a first time scooter rider. Quality bikes, price was more than fair. Great scooter adventure all around!

I would rate ZERO stars if they would let me. This place was a HUGE MISTAKE. We didn’t look at Unilocal first. So this was Shame on Us.
We went to rent bikes for a trip up to Diamond Head from Waikiki. Of the 4 bikes, all had almost no air in the tires. The gears didn’t work on 1 and all of them had brakes that needed Fred Flintstone’s feet to stop you. The customer service lived up to the SURLY reviews from other folks.
I’m glad to be alive is how I view it after our trip. I would never use this place again. No customer service whatsoever!!!

There are so many bad reviews for Paradise Rent a Car we were hesitant about using them for bike rentals. However, despite the reviews we decided to give them a try and bought the 2 bike rentals for 24 hours for $ 20 Groupon.
We called to make bike rental reservations twice per Groupon instructions but the person that answered said they had several bikes available and reservations were not necessary. I’m not saying this is always the case (so if I were you, I would call) but it worked out for us.
Paradise Car Rental is located in the middle of the block on Ala Moana Blvd between Hobron Lane and Kalia Road. They have a small office in the front and their fleet in the back. We came in to rent the bikes around 8:30am on a Wednesday morning. Everything went smoothly at the front desk. We presented our groupon, filled out paperwork, left a deposit, got our bike locks then head out back. The bikes weren’t brand new but not super old either. We got mountain bikes since we were heading up to Diamond Head then around town. The bikes and locks worked out well. We didn’t have any problems at all. The next day we returned the bikes on time, picked up our receipt and all was good. We didn’t have any customer service problems as noted in other reviews.

Like the other reviewers said, their rate is lower than the big national chains. We rented a Mazda 3 for the day and the car was just a little banged up but worked just fine. Driving up to the north shore and back only cost us $ 15 in gas!
Strong customer service and just a hop and a skip away from our hotel.

Service guy was nice and got us a car for a fair rate. He said he provided a cheaper rate than any of the major players which I decided to look up prior to signing. They did offer the best rate but not by much. The car had a notch of from a full tanks which sucks when you are trying to bring back the car with same amount as you don’t want to put in more than you used. The car which was a midsize (93 for one full day) was not in good condition. Dings and scratches all over the car, burn hole in the seat. That can be scary considering they can’t claim a lot on you (they didn’t luckily). All in all probably better off looking at other options to make sure you get the best rate but if you are staying in the hilton this is the closest place. PS if you get car overnight there is a parking garage close by for 12 a night rather than the 35 the hotel charges

The guy at the front desk was a real jerk, not cool. Looks and act like a homeless high on drug. Worst customer service in Waikiki.
Don’t be fooled by groupon deals. Go to the national rental chains and rent newer and clearer cars with much cheaper price.

I’m an airline pilot and go to Oahu 12 days a month and good customer service is expected and usually is given in a tourist destination such as Waikiki!
This is not the case here! The jerk behind the desk (Jay) is a cantankerous misanthrope who is gruff, rude and quite frankly a complete asshole!
I called Paradise and spoke to Jay initially and asked him about Fiat 500’s for rent and Jay said, «I have two, a silver one and a red one which one do u want?»
I asked him to hold the silver one and I would b there in 15 minutes .
When I got there he said he only had a red one and was rude and impolite about it when I queried him about it. I would have rather been cruising in a less assuming car than «ticket red» but I took the car since we were pressed for time.
I asked him what was the latest I could return the car and he said no later than closing which was 5pm. He than rudely said, «nobody lets you return rental cars after hours» if that’s your next question?
Like I said earlier Jay is an asshole! Stay clear of this place !
When I was inspecting the red fiat I noticed several scratches and key marks on the exterior of the car and started to take photos of them on my phone when the Haitan mohawked employee said, «oh don’t worry we are not like that»
I tipped him $ 5 and when I came back the next day (today) the surf punk lot attendant started going over the car with a microscope then alleged that I scratched the car !
Another jerk!
I told him that I had pics of the car and that damage was there before I accepted the car!
I went inside and asshole Jays’s comments included «so did u get arrested for driving a red car?» Than laughed !!

Found this place through groupon. They had a two day rental for $ 125, and I didnt shop around, but seemed like an awesome deal so I jumped on it.
I see a lot of reviews commenting on the customer service being so horrible, and after meeting the gentleman i could see what they meant. He’s very blunt, and not the friendliest, but he gives you everything you need. I don’t know if its fortunate or unfortunate that i grew up with guys like this, so it wasn’t too bad. And luckily for me, when I called about the groupon I got a very nice lady. Also, the guys working the back are pretty cool.
And whats most important is the vehicles. The gsxr i got was clean, and performed very well. Very responsive. Had no problems at all.
I would use this place again, but would definitely look around first to try and find a better deal. The groupon was great, but regular prices seem a little steep.
Overall, good experience.

Came here to rent a bike — this review has nothing to do with car, or motorcycle rentals, which they do have.
First, the staff is certainly ‘different’ — LOL. As I walked in the door, the person working the front was reviewing receipts, and loudly yelled, «SHIT!» before slamming his hand down, then looking up and asking if he could help me.
Bikes are 24 hour rentals at $ 25/​day, plus a deposit using a credit card, or $ 50 cash. If you check in using Unilocal,you can get an additional 10% discount — nice.
The bikes are nice/​quality, with a large selection of cruisers, or mountain bikes. I had no problems with my bike, and aside from the less than professional staff, had a good experience.
