Paid her in advance for balayage hair color, over $ 100 and she never showed up for my appointment. I called her 5 times. She finally answered her cell phone 30 minutes after my appointment time and told me that she isn’t able to make it and that I needed to reschedule. I scheduled the appointment online with her 4 days ago. She didn’t even have the decency to let me know that she couldn’t see me. Not to mention, I drove all the way from Pearl City on a Friday afternoon for this appointment. Horrible business practice. There is no option for no stars so I had to give her 1. If I had a choice I’d give her a thumbs down!

I have been going to Paul for a year now and have been thrilled with his color and cuts. My hair is thick and a little wavy but is dry and sometimes goes in weird directions. Because of this my hair cannot take razor cuts and I am thankful that he is skilled enough to do a cut with shears. I have been «shopping» for the right stylist for some time before this and I told Paul he reminded me of a stylist that I loved but stopped going to after many years because her prices hit above $ 150/​cut. This is not a high end salon but Paul’s cuts are exceptional for the price and reflect a high-​end cut. At the end of the day I need a look that is current — but not trendy — cause sadly, or nawh, those days are gone. The best part is he is super nice and easygoing, has always been respectful with my risk tolerance — um, which is low risk. He asks me about length and style then listens well and executes perfectly. The salon is clean plus I love the easy reserved parking.

Paul Maria is more than a stylist; he’s an artist. His cuts somehow manage to look great months after I’ve gone to see him, and when I do come back he’s always got a new, creative twist to update my look. I’ve lived in many places, but no other stylist has ever replaced him. Worth absolutely every penny!

Back in town and found out my old salon closed down so i was looking for a new place. On the advice of a female friend I went here and had my Haircut by Koichi. He was fantastic! He japanese but cut hair in NYC for a long time before coming to Hawaii. I will definitely be seeing him from now on.
日本から帰ってきて前行った美容院がなくなったから新しい所を探してた。女性の友達のおすすめでコウイチという美容師さんからカットして頂いた。彼はめっちゃ上手で最高なカットだった! 日本人だけどニューヨークで何年間も美容師をやっててハワイに引っ越したらしい。

I am not your typical salon customer; I used to go to barber shops. One time I accompanied my wife to Paul Maria Salon and I was talked into getting a hair cut from Paul, the owner. The best hair cut I’ve ever had! And I’ve been coming back every month for over two years now. Paul is a consummate hair stylist who stays relevant by going to hair seminars worldwide, including those by Vidal Sassoon. He also shares his knowledge by being an adjunct hair style teacher. My hair style, my crown, which I’m always proud to wear, evolves, adjusts, and fits me – all courtesy of Paul.

Alisa Keo is amazing! She is very well educated about her work, products she sells and uses. I went in just for a microdermabrasion and left with so much more. I’ve had microderms at 2 other places in the past, the 1^st was really good and i continued with her for 3 years until she left the island and the 2^nd was the worst experience ever! I’m picky when it comes to hair and skin, esp my skin, i felt confident with Alisa, she would not use anything on her clients skin that she wouldnt use on her own. This was an absolute wonderful relaxing experience, i got a head and hand massage, so much tension taken off my neck, she also microderm my neck, never had anyone do that. She explained everything she was doing and why, what the benefits are and gave so much tips, it all made sense, I would HIGHLY recommend her to everyone. I found me a new cosmetologist :))

Came in for a straightening treatment and a haircut, but I got more than that! She transformed my hair to be nourished from being dry and unmanageable. My hair was saved by her. I regained my confidence back and was educated how to take care of the damage that I have inflicted to my hair due to ironing too much. She’s a rare find! Im glad I found her in here. More power to Paul Maria Salon!

I just got my Eyelashes done w/​Sarah at Paul Maria’s salon. Well execituted. It looks natural with a lil bit of oomph! Makes my eyespop. I dont look like a clown, or drag queen, no offense, and it’s beautiful. She’s professional, organized, sanitary and personable. She has a awesome special going on and she is very accommodating. I got my mom hooked. So u want quality lashes and quality products, Go and see Sarah @ Paul Maria salon. Tell her keely sent u.

I wouldn’t go here again if you paid me! I bought living socials as a gift for a mother daughter spa day to celebrate my wedding. When we arrived they informed me that mine (I’m the bride) had already been redeemed? This was impossible, being that i had not even purchased it by the date they claimed I had redeemed it? When I went to the owner, he informed me that the massage parlor was a separate entity from himself (even though the living social specifically says Paul Maria Salon) and he had his own clients to deal with! They were extremely rude and unprofessional, to the point that I broke down in tears! I work very hard for my money and after spending $ 300 they denied me of any services?!

Unilocal should have an option to give ZERO STARS because this salon deserves just that! This review is based on my experience with the owner — Paul. I can’t speak for the other hairstylist… they may actually know what they’re doing. For someone who claims they’ve been cutting hair for over 25 years, you’d think they would be an expert in their field but this is not the case with Paul. Paul does not listen nor is he experienced at cutting wavy, thick, thin, or straight hair. That means ALL TYPES OF HAIR. My two friends stopped going to him because he completely butchered their hair. People keep telling me «don’t worry it’ll grow back», well it’ll be close to 8 months before I feel comfortable being in public without a hat or headband on. Thanks to Paul! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT THIS WORSE THAN SUPERCUTS «SALON»!! Unless you want a hair cut that is complete opposite of what you ask for.

I had a LivingSocial for a color touchup, cut and style. Jamie Souza was my stylist. I can’t say enough about how great a job she did. I loved my previous stylist but it had become way too expensive for me, so I’m happy to have found Jamie. She did a great job and the regular price is about 30% less than what I had been paying.
I highly recommend Jamie at Paul Maria and have already booked my next appointment.

Today, I went to Paul Maria Salon for partial highlights using Schwarzkopf color, and Paul did an amazing job! I’m so happy I found him. I was scared to try another Hawaii stylist after my last hair fiasco 6 months ago. (It’s detailed in my other reviews. I wouldn’t want to taint this review by mentioning the name of that salon.) But after a recommendation and a luxury magazine ad, I decided to give Paul Maria Salon a try.
It was easy to get an appointment. Free parking was available behind the shop. When I arrived at the salon, Paul greeted me with a friendly smile. The décor was nice, clean, and island chic. Paul’s consultation was very professional. He listened to my concerns and requests and then gave me several options to proceed. I gave him the color code from my LA stylist for the highlights, and he knew exactly what to do. He used two colors for highlights, added a protein glaze, dried, and styled my hair for just a little over $ 100.
After I left the salon, I got unsolicited compliments from my clients and my Mom about my hair color. Now, this is what I am used to. I’m very happy! I will definitely return for my next highlight service, and next time I may try a hair cut. Thank you Paul.
