My friend purchased a puppy at the PETLAND puppy swap meet — Couldn’t do the review under PETLAND since they are not part of the PETLAND business, but felt the need to warn the public about this. She purchased a puppy at the puppy swap meet for slightly under $ 700 cash. The woman who sold her the dog at the swapmeet said the puppy does not have any papers, but is ¾ pomeranian, ¼ long hair chihuahua. The name on this woman’s card Was Phyllis Lum. At first the puppy has been very healthy and smart. After a few months, he started to develop a limp, and is in apparent pain dealing with this condition. After bringing him to multiple vets, the condition was determined to be a genetic conditon called luxating pattella, and would require a $ 3000 surgery per knee, at phase 1 of this condition. He was less than a year old at the time. He is now in phase 2 on the right back leg and phase 3 of his left and is barely over a year old now. There is not any insurance that will now cover this since it is a genetic condition and has been determined as prexisting. With that said, I have since then met several other people with simlar looking dogs that have gotten them at PETLAND from the swapmeet. This lady likely does not provide paperwork as she is more than likely aware her dogs she produces will result in this very costly and heartbreaking condition. Buyer beware.
