History
Established in 1884.
Kuhio School was established as an independent school in 1884 and was named Kamoiliili School. The enrollment was approximately 47 students.
In 1888, the school was converted from a common school (a free government school with Hawaiian as the language of instruction) to a government English speaking school, and was renamed Moiliili School.
In 1923, upon completion of a two-story building facing King Street, the school was renamed Kuhio School in honor of Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole, who had died the previous year.
