Red Earth Massage & Wellness is a locally owned massage studio established as an act of love and kuleana to the islands and its people. We believe it is not only our responsibility, but also our privilege to provide a space and time for people to care for themselves. At Red Earth Massage & Wellness, it is our goal to provide quality bodywork to the community. We specialize in a number of modalities, including Tradition Thai massage, Sports Massage, Deep Tissue, Swedish, Prenatal, and Lomi Lomi. Each session is tailored to addressing the various and specific ailments of each client.

We invite you to slow down, decompress, and just breathe. You deserve it. Our healers are committed to tailoring each session in order to focus on your own specific points of stress and tension. We each are given one body in a lifetime. Let us do our best to care for them.

Whether you are a stay at home parent or a nine to five office worker, a laborer or a lawyer, we all have our own specific stresses and areas of tension that accumulate over time. When left unattended, these can overflow into other facets of our well-​being. Our business is committed to aiding in the reversal of such symptoms and the balancing of each client. Today is the day to start caring for yourself, and we are here to help.

History

Established in 2013.

Red Earth Massage & Wellness was born at the beginning of 2013 in conjunction with Creative Fitness, a Pilates studio located at Kilohana Square on Kapahulu. Thanks to an ever growing and truly amazing clientele, at the start of July, we were able to expand into slightly larger facility located at Eaton Square on the Ala Moana side of Waikiki. Red Earth had been a dream years before it was a reality. From the bottom of our hearts, we cannot thank you all enough for joining and supporting us in its constant growth. There is so much more we aim to give back; so much more in store. Aloha.

Business Owner

Born and raised on Oahu, Melanie views Red Earth as form of giving back to her community. From providing clientele with dependable, quality service, to honoring the healers that work with her by creating a supportive work environment, to giving back through local non-​profit work, it is at the utmost importance to nurture her business at each level.

Her love of body work began when she started taking lomi classes from her Auntie Betty. Since then, she has learned from many teachers in the different modalities of massage and continues to do so. As a constant student, she is always looking for ways to deepen her practice and strengthen her business.

None of this would have been possible without her husband and Red Earth’s co-​owner, Drew, her sister, Jocelyn, and the team of therapists they are humbled and honored to work with. Thank you to all!

Have been to Honolulu multiple times now and have gotten massages at a few places, had not been to Red Earth since last year. Did the 90 minute couples massage today and it was phenomenal. Well worth the money. Would absolutely recommend this place and we will definitely return.

There’s nothing not to like about Red Earth Massage & Wellness. We booked online and arrived 5 minutes before our scheduled time. We filled out some paperwork and were led into a room with two massage tables to change and prepare for our couples massage.
The hallway leading to the office is dated as is the rest of the property, but once you’re inside the office and inside your massage room none of that will matter to you.
The essential oils and tranquil music helped us let down our guard as we prepared for a relaxing swedish massage. The massage therapists we had were not talkative, but did check in with us from time to time to ensure everything was going ok and if we wanted anything else in particular. This was nice as it allowed me to really relax. Sometimes I have a talkative masseuse which can be fun, but also doesn’t allow me to relax in the same way.
My wife was asked by her masseuse to leave her underwear on while I was told I could dress down how I felt comfortable. I was curious about the reason for this as I’ve always gone fully nude for a massage and never have been told to leave my underwear on.
Afterwards we both felt like new people, and on only day two of our weeklong stay on O’ahu, this was a fantastic way to relax and get into the Aloha way of life!

Went for a sport massage few months ago. It was my first time and I enjoyed it, my body felt relaxed and fresh after the 1 hour session. Need a second visit that’s for sure!

Came here for a prenatal massage with my significant other and it was so relaxing! It’s hard to be comfortable when you’re 8 months pregnant but I did the entire time. We were greeted my name right when we walked in, filled out a short general questionnaire, then were shown to our couples massage room. They gave us instructions on how to lay and made sure we felt comfortable. I started off laying on one side while hugging a giant body pillow as I got massaged on my side. Then turned to the other side. My masseuse did a great job of focusing on my lower back and legs, which I needed. At the end of the massage we were both offered fresh fruit and hot tea and were welcomed to relax for as long as we needed. From entrance to exit everything and everyone was very friendly! I will definitely be coming back here as often as I can after I give birth.

I had 90 minutes lomi lomi massage. I forgot to ask the name of my masseuse. Her hands were very strong and hit good points. Only reason I took out one star is her hands/​fingers were so cold, and gave me goosebumps first she touched me.
The very good massage I have had always comes with warm hands. They warm up their hands before starting the session. A small thing, but important.

I came here as a surprise! No really, my boyfriend planned to come here for my birthday and surprised me with a couple’s massage. You know you Unilocal too much when your significant other plans your whole birthday via Unilocal!^_^*
Customer Service: All the staff were friendly. We were greeted when we entered. The front desk admin is very nice. She was expecting us. She showed us where the restrooms were and gave us some refreshments. My massage therapist was really awesome. She asked about the pressure while massaging and was able to work out my sore neck and shoulders. My boyfriend loved his massage therapist as well. I noticed they both had a different style. Thats actually my preference. I hate massages that are very cookie cutter. I like it when I have a massage that works for me, not the same one for everyone. We also just worked out and it felt good to soothe all that soreness with a massage. Which reminds me, I probably had a stiff back and neck. So thank you Red Earth for accepting this stessed out, work out addicted mama and making my day! After the massage we were treated with fruit and water. Everything waa excellent!
Ambience: everything about this place was relaxing. Even the recepZtionist talked softly and made you calm. When we came they warned us about the construction next door and hoped it didnt bother us. I didnt notice it until the massage was done. It actually was hidden my the soothing music.
Price: the price was very reasonable. It was worth every penny. Parking was also free with validation so that was nice.
Overall, this was one of the best massages I’ve recieved. I liked that she communicated with me about the pressure. I really liked that she make my neck and shoulders feel so much better. Even after days, I felt so relaxed. It is not a full day spa with fancy pools and showers, but I would choose this place again in a heartbeat.

Service: This is one of the few places that offers a prenatal massage, which is exactly what I went for. Basically, you’re laying on your side with a giant comfortable body pillow as they massage you. Kyoko was my masseuse and she was absolutely amazing. She covered everything from my back, legs, arms, shoulders, neck and even head. I asked for firm pressure and that’s exactly what I got. I’ve had a couple of massages before and they were too light with their hands. I feel like Kyoko worked out all of the stubborn knots I had.
Pricing: I did the 60 minute massage which came out to about $ 68, not including the tip.
Atmosphere: The environment of the whole place itself is extremely cozy and relaxing.
Parking: Parking is very easy & with validation, it’s free.
Overall, I would definitely go back.

I’ve had a couple prompt and excellent massages here over the past month. My masseuse was communicative and gave me exactly what I asked for… some Thai and Swedish technique in a (well-​priced) massage (40 or 60 for an hour or so) that made me pass out a few times and challenged my joints and flexibility just enough. My posture has felt effortlessly perfect lately!
Ambience here is dark/​modern/​zen-​esqe and cozy, and I adore the receptionists here. I’ve never had an issue with timing — common in honolulu, according to friends who go elsewhere.

My wife and I wanted a relaxing massage after a hectic wedding weekend and a long flight from the mainland and we were not disappointed. For about half the price of some of the hotel spas, I got a first-​rate treatment from a professional who spent 90 minutes on every trouble spot.
Red Earth has a candlelit lobby, a stark contrast to the pale, aging and rather bleak hallway that gave me memories of a trip to the dentist. After the friendly receptionist took our information, we went right in for our appointment, my wife and I on either side of the room for our couple’s massage. My masseuse applied just the right amount of pressure, firm but not so firm that I’d be sore the next day. All told, she put in an hour and a half of hard work that didn’t let up for the entire duration. We could’ve sworn that they actually WALKED on our backs, but I had my head down and couldn’t tell for sure.
We were treated to some tea and a bite of cheesecake at the end — a nice touch. I walked out of the funky little multi-​story strip mall onto the streets of Waikiki relaxed and in vacation mode, with a little extra spending money to boot compared to what I would’ve gotten in many other places nearby. Five stars all around.

My fiancé and I had a couples massage here. The rates and service were amazing and my fiancé said it was the best massage he had ever received.
Parking was easy cause there’s a lot next door and it was free with validation. It may be a little hard to find the place, but it’s tucked inside the Eaton plaza on the second floor.

Within 24 hours, I had traveled nearly 4500 miles from Atlanta to Honolulu and my shoulders absorbed most of that travel stress. I was able to book a 90 minute couples massage online, which was very convenient considering the different time zones I was traveling through. Drew confirmed the online reservations and I certainly appreciated the update.
Upon arriving in Honolulu, the building was also conveniently located near our hotel and was a 10 minute walk away. Initial impression is that it’s a business complex and an unlikely home for a spa. Despite the doctors office appearance, the spa felt very welcoming and indicative of a place of relaxation.
As for the massage, Darren was the therapist that worked with me and he did a wonderful job with my shoulders. In the beginning, we filled out a standard disclosure form but Darren did inquire further regarding areas of focus. At the end of the session, my shoulders felt significantly better and ready to enjoy the trip.
The fresh fruit, tea and hot towel was a nice finishing touch and I’ll be looking for another session before heading home. Thank you for the professionalism and excellent work!

We have been coming here for a year now. This place is serene. The massages has always been excellent and relaxing. When you walk in to the suite, it is dimly lighted, cool, and relaxed.
Drew and Melanie are owners of this place, and both of them are nice & friendly. We always get the 5 or more massage package for a discounted price. It really helped us through the Marathon season last year.
Rwanda gave me my last massage. She really worked on my back and shoulder area, and helped to get all the knots out. It was painful at times, but it was the necessary, good kind of pain that released many tensions. Rwanda used her healing hands to heal my body.

So the location of this place is a little bizarre. It’s located in the Eaton Square shopping center, on the 2nd floor next to Honolulu Nail Academy. I rode the elevator up and followed the signs toward Red Earth. (I couldn’t find the stairs. Okay fine, I didn’t look for the stairs, I was feeling lazy. Don’t judge me.)
The building itself is outdated, the elevator is slow & loud, the hallway on the 2nd floor is a weee bit creepy. But once you walk through the door of Red Earth, it’s a complete change of scenery. Relaxing music, calming aroma, dark/​serene room, friendly staff greeting you as you walk in, hot tea offered as you wait for your appointment– I mean, what creepy hallway?
Deep tissue massage please. DEEP tissue. My idea of a deep tissue is 100% pressure, pain level 8/​10, «sore the next day» type of a massage. And the massage therapist did not disappoint. She made it comfortable so you can voice whether or not the pressure needs to be stronger/​weaker. She used her elbows, hands, and thumbs to really loosen all of the knots. I get these stubborn knots on my back after surfing for awhile– and they become so uncomfortable to the point where I can’t sit for a long time/​stand straight. But after the massage session, the pain is completely gone. Knots are no bueno, obvi.
After the massage is complete, they bring you some fresh fruit, tea, and water for refreshments. It perfectly ties your massage/​spa experience. Relaxation=100%.
I still love you, Laka, but I think with Red Earth having ~$ 10 cheaper massage selections (and not to mention walking distance from my place), Red Earth is now my go-​to spot. See you soon Red Earth. Ocean, surfing, and those painful knots are calling my name.

LONG VERSION:
I was Unilocal-​stalking the pictures of a completely different food business really late one night when my back was sore and all of a sudden a picture popped up «You might Also Consider» Red Earth Massage & Wellness. My Unilocal app has ESP. I never heard of this place before, and I live in Honolulu. Hmm. Skeptical.
I clicked on the ad and ended up on the Red Earth Unilocal page. 5 stars! But none of my friends reviewed this place. Mostly tourists. Hmm. Maybe they had too much sun exposure. Or too many mai tais when they were writing their reviews. (I tend to give everything when I’m on vacation 5 stars too!) More skeptical.
But it’s almost midnight and I’m tired and maybe I’ll remember to call them in the morning, if I remember what this place is called. Aha. Then my app had a button that said «BOOK APPT»! OMG it’s like Open Table but for a massage! Yes! I am starting to like it already. But still skeptical. So I booked my appointment and went to bed.
The day of my appointment comes up and I park at Eaton Square in Waikiki. My first appointment was late at night, which is good if you want a massage after work. However, Eaton Square is completely empty and dark at night and I didn’t see a single soul walking around when I was trying to find this place. If you don’t know what you’re looking for, it’s hard to find. Find the front pedestrian entrance and look for the elevators on the left just after you walk into the courtyard. Take the elevator up to the 2nd floor and walk down the hall to Suite 211. Open the door and walk inside to serenity and find your inner peace.
I had a specific problem which I thought was in my shoulder but actually it was in my neck and my massage therapist really got into all the knots and kinks in my neck/​shoulders/​back. Too bad I only booked a 60 min massage because I really wanted a 200min massage. I’ve had two different therapists and they both were great. I am no longer skeptical. This place is awesome, it has my local stamp of approval. Good job Unilocalers, you helped me find something that was in my own backyard that I didn’t even know about!

I had worked 5 days in a row in a job that requires a lot of heavy lifting and walking. At the end of this, my body felt as if it had been hit by a truck. Knots in my shoulders, sore back and feet. So what better way to recover than to treat myself to a nice massage? :]. I looked through Unilocal reviews and found Red Earth massage. 127 reviews and an average of 5 stars? I read the reviews and it sounded perfect! I called and luckily they were able to make a same day appointment!
I was a little lost outside, but the pretty receptionist with blue hair came out to help me find the place. Inside it’s very dimly lit, with soothing music and smelled wonderful. The ambience set the mood very nicely. I filled out the necessary forms and went in for my massage.
In the nasal words of Janice from Friends. OH. MY. GOD. Best massage I have ever had. (My masseuse was Darren). I felt the tension being released from my poor aching body over the span of an hour. Next time I might do two hours because it was that good! He was kind enough to use a towel to hold my hair back and unlike most massages I’ve had before, he is really good at foot massages. I felt rejuvenated and like a million bucks afterwards. Definitely ask for him if you go, he is awesome and makes you feel so comfortable.
Afterwards, I was given fresh strawberries and tea to snack on. All this for an hour was only $ 65 before tax (kama’aina rate!). I also like that their sheets were very soft (unlike the sometimes coarse starchy sheets that some massage places have) and on top of that to cover you is a verrrry soft fuffy blanket.
Everything about this place is relaxing. I’m glad I read about this place and it’s 127 great reviews, and here’s one more! I will be back for sure, I’ve now found a spot I love!

Red Earth has a beautiful soul. The moment you open the door its serenity bathes you in its beautiful aromas, subdued light, peaceful music, its gentleness.
We had a couples massage with my friend and our two masseuses were like from another worldliness of compassion and sensitivity to the body’s language. I can not praise them enough.
Go without reservation you will be happy yo have gone.

Came here with my boyfriend the day before we flew back home. This was definitely a great experience.
I got the deep tissue massage and it was pretty great. I think my masseuse was Jen, she did a pretty good job making my muscles and my back feel so much better. There were times when she used too much pressure but I let her know and she used a lighter pressure.
My boyfriend got the red earth custom massage, he says parts were good but other parts he felt like not enough pressure was used. He wished he got the deep tissue massage instead.
We both liked this place and we would give this place another try next time we come to Hawaii.
