Salted Lemon

Although it’s in a very sketchy part of kalihi, give this place a chance. Friendly staff, clean tables, and good food. Décor is very homey and relaxed. I had the papaya boat and it was good. Also got an acai bowl to go and it too was good. I’d definitely come back.

I eat a lot of Acai Bowls, and I was super excited to try this place after seeing all the cool pictures. Parking is a bit hard to find, but I was lucky and had street parking right in front of the shop. We went in June and it is a bit toasty inside the shop.
The concept is cool, different and the presentation is what sets them apart. I just think the execution needs a bit of work. My girlfriend was a bit turned off by the staff who helped 3 other customers who came in AFTER us. It wasn’t till my girlfriend piped up and asked «Can you please take our order» that the girl behind the counter who was on her phone, looked up, shrugged and asked «sure, what would you like»
I ordered a papaya boat and my girlfriend ordered an acai bowl. The presentation for both was unique and interesting, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to flavor and I can’t say we would ever go back.
The papaya boat was basically yogurt in a papaya topped with banana, blueberry, granola, honey and bananas. I’m not sure if they make their yogurt in house but the entire dish was just ok… a ²⁄₅ in my book, nothing to rave about
My girlfriends acai bowl wasn’t in a bowl, it as more of acai structure topped with granola, banana, strawberry, blueberry and honey. The heat in the shop made the structure melt faster than it should have. The acai flavor was subtle and the overall texture was smooth but not thick enough for me. Another ²⁄₅
I also thought the name was cool, salted lemon… and thought they would tie that into their dishes some how. but they didn’t. Wouldn’t it be cool if they served you a baby salted lemon too? Just for kicks?
Hope some things change but for now i’ll just head down the way to Shimazu for my cold treats.

1÷23÷16 stop by after work to have a acai bowl like I did many time before. I tell the guy what I want he ask me for here to or to go I say here I’ll sit at that table he make it then calls me to grab in a styrofoam bowl. I say don’t you guys put it in a glass bowl I eating it here then he say depends on what? No answer why ask me if its to take out or for here then make it in a styrofoam bowl I think he got lazy don’t want to wash an brush me off at 2:40p not busy when I came in .workers like this takes businesses down

I like to think of myself as somewhat of an acai bowl connoisseur, so when I found Salted Lemon all of dreams came true. No, really. If you haven’t tried this place yet you need to stat! Every element in their acai bowl was heavenly. Best honey I’ve ever eaten drizzled on top of a generous amount of acai purée, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and amazing granola.
The owner Patrick is also super nice and told us all about the ingredients used in his shop. They use all fresh, local ingredients to Hawaii! Another great aspect in addition to healthy, flavorful juices and bowls. Will definitely come back to visit this place!

Let me begin with saying this is a great local juice shop with a menu you will enjoy top to bottom! Their acai bowls are the best I’ve ever had. Seriously. The crunchy and airy granola is drenched in the best honey in the world from a premium honey producer on the big island. Their service is also top notch and the interior is welcoming and comfortable.
If you’re looking for a tasty juice, look no further than their selection that are filled with great, fresh ingredients and put together marvelously. Their salted lemon, which the shop is named after, is also delicious. It’s a perfect cold remedy that is even better thanks to the lemon pulp and minced lemon peels!
Overall, you can’t go wrong with anything here! Get your directions set and head over.

When life give you lemons you make lemonade, duh! Parking is Terrible. Yup, with a big capital T! There’s literally less than 3 stalls street parking… If you’re lucky. The place is a small hole in a way hipster juice bar. I think I’ve been coming here way too much. By working in the area, it’s just so easy to literally just hop on over!
Drinks and bowls array in color and flavor. However the pricing is a bit much for some things and some are just averageI always go for their fresh squeezed lemonade if I need a pick me up or their coffee. I’ve had their green juice a couple times which are great but can getting pretty pricy. Sorry acai bowls friends… I’m not a big fan of the bowls. It’s just alright…
Service is a hit or miss but the last time it seemed like everyone was down. Almost like they didn’t want to be there. Oh well…

I was a little bum after learning that the smoothies aren’t as «healthy» as I thought. My friend ordered a lychee smoothie and I saw the employee putting canned lychee into the smoothie… Yeah no thanks. Looks like I’ll be sipping on my lemonade.

Don’t agree with the other reviews. My Acai Bowl was watery and didn’t look nearly pretty as all those pictured ones. Tried the Rise and Shine juice as well and I didn’t taste even a hint of ginger, it was kind of bland without. On a positive note everything looked fresh. But can’t agree with all the great ratings, maybe I came in on a wrong day…

Tried their acai bowl. It was a big mound of acai, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, granola, and honey! The taste was perfect. It wasn’t too sweet or tart and the amount of toppings was the perfect portion for the amount of acai. The acai itself wasn’t watery. Should of shared a bowl instead of getting our own as it was fulfilling. They also have papaya boats which I want to try next! I have yet to try their smoothies too.
The atmosphere is really chill. The place is small with a few tables to sit at. A good place to chat and catch up with friends. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The most delicious juice ever! Just had a Happy Day and I am so happy I ordered it! Cute café with a nice vibe and great customer service. Their waffle maker broke down while I was there but the guy told me right away and refunded my money. Thai coffee and acai bowl also yum!

I like this place. Watermelon Smoothie is the winner! Especially on a hot day. Orange Cream and Strawberry with Mint is good too.
Several teachers in the area love the Ginger Thai-​ade, for myself and another parent it took some getting used to and its an acquired taste. Thinking there are probably a lot of health benefits.
Clean and retro atmosphere and the owner was really nice, talked to him the last time we came by.
Won’t lie its all street parking and that’s slim pickings so that kind of sucks but nothing to do with the quality of Salted Lemon itself so no star shaving for me. I usually come with the family and I run in and just take out until they can find a space. If they can find one.

This place serves smoothies, juices, acai and pitaya bowls, & waffles! I’m sure I’m missing a few things from the list… but simply put, it’s a juice and smoothie type of place. My boyfriend and I were craving acai bowls, and we saw an article about this place on Frolic Hawaii so we decided to try it out. And good thing we did! This place is great! Our cravings were definitely satisfied.
RECOMMENDED:
— The Acai Bowl: This was so refreshing. You could tell that the fruits were super fresh and ripe; they were sweet and were not mushy at all. The flavor was on point, not too tart and not too sweet. I really hate it when acai bowls are too sweet. The granola was delicious, and we added a bit of hemp seed to ours, which was an excellent addition; if you like hemp seed, I suggest you pay that extra dollar to get some! I also thought that the portion size was HUGE. My boyfriend and I shared it, and we both left feeling pretty satisfied (not full but satisfied). The only complaint I do have is that I wish there was MORE granola, and the acai tasted a LITTLE watery today. I want it to have a little more acai flavor, but I was still super happy with my order :) ALSO… the presentation is ON POINT. Such a gorgeous tower of fresh fruits and deliciousness.

This is such a cute place! I think the décor is adorable. There are paintings on the walls (like literally ON the walls outside), and for the holiday season, they have a wreath with some fresh fruits in it! SO ADORABLE. The wreath is also real; when a breeze blew into the shop, the fresh pine smell wafted over to me! Perfection. The only thing is that there seems to be no A/C…or at least I didn’t feel it. Thank goodness there was a breeze on the morning that I visited.

Super chill and nice. The acai bowls take a little while to make, but it’s worth it since the presentation is so on point! They brought the food to us quickly and happily, and I have no complaints. Happy smiles all around in this joint!

Only tried the acai bowl ($ 10), but it was amazing! I had to make a second trip here to get it again during my stay! It’s a small shop. Maybe 2 – 3 small tables. No A/​C. Not very fancy. Service is great. The acai bowl is pretty big. I shared it both times. They blend fruits together to get a smoothie consistency, then topped with granola and more fruits. I got a side of almond butter for $ 1 more. 10% off with Unilocal check in.
Just overall, very healthy and delicious!

They make delicious Acai bowls and strawberry banana smoothies! Staff was fast and friendly. Very laid back atmosphere and cute décor.
Inside is pretty small but we were the only group there in the morning.
Parking is complicated (limited metered parking) so be resourceful.

I was actually really excited to try this place after a day of hiking. We were lucky to find street parking right in front of the place. I got the papaya boat and I got to try the pitaya and acai bowl. It was nothing from what I had expected. The papaya itself was warm, like it just been cut and peeled. Inside was yogurt, which was also warm too. Maybe they didn’t have a refrigerator I thought to myself, but nope they had one. I was some what disappointment, it was kind of like I was just served warm fruits, which I could do for myself at home.
I was not impressed with the pitaya and acai bowl either. The pitaya was icy and tasted somewhat like grass. It was a good thing it came with other fruits and granola to top the taste.
On top of the food, we waited about 30 min to receive our order. After waiting about 10 min or so, we waited another 20 min to get our food and no one else was waiting to get theirs. Granted that there were only two workers working. I think I was most excited about the presentation of the food, which is probably partially why it took so long. Not sure if I would come again, unless it is to try something different on the menu.

So, while servicing my car nearby, I walked around to find Salted Lemon on Liliha Street. I checked in on Unilocal to find a 10% discount! Woohoo for Unilocal!Of course, I ordered an acai bowl. The first time I ordered it, it was AMAZING! So much honey that the fruits slid down to the bottom of the bowl before I could even take a good photo! The consistency was great and acai flavor very strong! Topped with strawberries, bananas, blueberries, granola, and honey! 5 stars!
The second time I came, I had trouble finding parking. PARKING IS STREET PARKING AND VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND. Again, I ordered an acai bowl… this time to share with my sister and mom. I hyped it up a lot and once we got it, all three of us turned our heads with confusion. Was the acai bowl extremely watery and icy? We stopped eating and actually asked other patrons if it was just our bowl but they agreed it was too watery. So, we politely asked the employees for another bowl. They gladly made another and this time, it tasted like the first one, simply AMAZING. (The employees later tasted it and said they agreed it was icy and watery.)
The acai itself melts rather quickly but if you eat it fast enough, the consistency is pretty good. The consistency plays a huge factor in acai bowls! Not too watery!
Something odd: they make a huge batch of acai and they store it in the fridge/​freezer. But if it still tastes good, I ain’t complaining! Salted Lemon, you guilty pleasure, are making me crave acai bowls. One of the top places on my list for acai bowls thus far!

This is a block away from where I’m staying at currently. Very convenient for me. This acai bowls are delicious. You can add your own toppings for additional toppings. I love adding kiwi and the coconut covered macadamia nut! (They make their own)
The owner is extremely nice! Service is really good. Sometimes there’s only one person making the food and drinks so it might take a minute or two so I prefer you call and order before arriving.
The owner also grows his own plants to put on the tables for decorations. It’s a great little stop to cool you down this summer. Very healthy too!

What a charming place! So easy to miss though. Salted Lemon is on Liliha street, near L&L and across the street from the little CVS pharmacy. Also nearby is Kuakini Medical Center and Liliha Bakery.
Parking here is difficult. No lot, only a few street stalls.
There were a few tables, and the inside is clean and quaint. Looked like a family-​run place. I was warmly greeted, even though they were about to close in like, 3 minutes (whoops…I didn’t even know!)
I saw a fridge full of fresh produce (a must!), and they sell fresh fruits like apple bananas and papayas on a cart near the door.
I got an acai bowl, to-​go. Because it was Valentine’s Day, my bowl came topped with a chocolate dipped strawberry! How cute! My bowl lasted till I got home with minimal melting. It was a generous amount, and the acai was tasty and of good consistency. Plus, they layer the granola so you don’t just have a thin layer on the very top and that’s it (I hate places that give you like a 2% granola ratio). The granola they use is the good textured one that stays crunchy. The fruits were fresh and the honey drizzled on top was just perfect.
They offer a variety of other drinks and smoothies! Will definitely be back to try more items!

Love the black chalkboard with bright colored writing. When you walk in there are bar seats and a couple tables. Cute fresh flowers on the tables.
The staff is nice and helpful on their menu. My daughter enjoys the starburst and I have tried the going green $ 7– kale, cucumber, pear, mint and the thai gingerade $ 4 very strong in thai basil. My daughter is a huge fan. I will continue to try more items. The 2 I have had seems to have added sugar– syrup? not sure. I am so used to raw that I am sensitive to added items to my juices and smoothies.
I look forward to trying acai, pitaya and papya bowl.

Nice spot to go to have an acai bowl if youre out in Kalihi! I wanted to try something different so i ordered my acai bowl in a papaya! The staff was super friendly and willing to accomodate our orders. They tried extra hard to make our dish presentable. A for effort! Lol. The bowl itself tasted great. Fresh fruits and a mouthful of sweet papaya in every bite! I really enjoyed my experience here. The only downside to the bowl in my opinion was that the acai blend was a little thin. Thus, it was runny and didnt hold its shape for long. Otherwise, id highly recommend coming here. If you like papayas try adding your acai to it!

Best Acai bowl in town! Took a stroll down Liliha and came across this wonderful utopia of fruit smoothies and juices.
Atmosphere: Off Liliha, tables made of reclaimed wood very rustic feel. The menu written out in colorful chalk. Plenty of seating available while we were there. Limited street parking, but we walked so it was no problem.
Service: FANTABULOUS! The manager has excellent customer relations for sure. He greeted us with a smile and had plenty of suggestion and advice to his menu. When I ordered the Acai bowl he made a great observation and noticed that I loved the granola and offered complimentary granola and honey.
Food: Acai bowls are great and have a balance of textures with banana, blueberry, strawberry, granola, honey, and pollen. We also ordered the ginger, basil lemonade; very strong basil flavor but still pleasant and refreshing.
Would come here again especially for the Acai Bowl and the awesome manager.
