Segway of Hawaii, Hawaii’s only Authorized Dealer for the Segway Personal Transporter has been operating in Honolulu for close to eight (8) years with the vision of providing eco-​friendly, short-​distance transportation alternatives. We service all the Hawaiian Islands.

Our mission is simple: to give our customers a green, personal transportation experience that transforms the way people work, plan and live. A Segway promises all Segway owners and users ease and efficiency, and they in turn, integrate environmental consciousness into their daily routines.

Segway of Hawaii sells all models available of this transportation marvel, and also offers a fun variety of ‘eco-​tours’ through Waikiki, downtown Honolulu and various parks for visitors and Kama’aina alike to enjoy while experiencing the latest in personal transportation… The Segway!

History

Established in 2005.

Segway of Hawaii was founded by Alan Rice and Jeanne Datz Rice. Mrs. Rice had a long career in public relations and communications in Hawaii and a 22.5 year run with Hilton Hotels in Hawaii and ultimately, Hilton Hotels Corporation.

Alan Rice has had a long career in TV/​Film in Los Angeles, where he produced and directed, winning an EMMY for a daytime magazine format show: Trendsetters. He is also a marketing/​advertising professional.

The Rice’s developed Segway of Hawaii nine (9) years ago and realized their dream of offering alternative forms of transportation and fun and informative guided tours all on the amazing Segway Personal Transporter when they opened Segway of Hawaii.

Today, Segway of Hawaii has a fabulous new Tour Center now located at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa.

Segway of Hawaii has always offered guided tours, and sales and service of the Segway Personal Transporter since opening our doors in 2005.

Alan Rice has had a long career in Los Angeles in the TV/​Film industry as a producer and director. He also has an established career as a marketing/​advertising executive and has had a long career in creating successful marketing/​ad campaigns for numerous well-​known companies and brought his skill-​set when he opened Segway of Hawaii with his wife, Jeanne Datz Rice

Excellent customer service owners Alan and Justin did a great job of making sure we we comfortable before we left. Our guides Armin and Danny had great knowledge of the history and culture. We did the sunset cruise and it was beautiful.

Great tour 2 hour up to Diamond Head
The tour guide was very cool and was born and bred Hawaiian
He told great stories of the different buildings as well as some personal stories along the way
It was very easy to learn in the shop and once your going it gets easier and confidence grows quickly
Don’t damage one as you will be paying for the parts to fix it
It was a little pricy at $ 190 bucks each — they do give you a bottle of water! And then the story about the gratuity at the end was a little obscene asking for 25 bucks per person — did not get.
I would recommend if you can afford it?

Owner Jeanne was very good to my family. The quality of this experience will depend on the coordination of you and those in your group. We were slowed down multiple times for training and aid. Jason did a good job keeping the tour going but would’ve been so much better if everyone was Segway capable.

we came 3~4 times to Hawaii in a year. Hawaii is a nice place but attraction was poor. Swimming and Golfing was only our attraction. Since 2 years ago we realized this business had begun. We tried this attraction in this time. That’s quite funny! Segway was awesome gear to ride. You can enjoyed this in a Japanese language. Quite awesome!

Kiliona «Killer» was our guide. The Segways were great, Killer was better. He knew tons of history about the island. It was a great way to cruise through the Oahu downtown, see the statues, and learn what they were about.
We did the «Waikiki and Diamond Head Tour.»
The four of us had a great time. A great way to see a lot in 3 hours.

This was our first Segway tour. We started with a short introduction to maneuvering a Segway and then headed out on the Waikiki and Diamondhead tour. Mike, our guide was fantastic. He is a native and his descriptions of the evolution of Honolulu were fascinating. The three hour tour was a wonderful way to begin a vacation. I’m ready to go again (on a Segway tour… not the same tour). I highly recommend the Segway and the tour. It was amazing, fun, and the time was regrettably over too soon. Mahalo Mike and Justin.

My husband had a fantastic Segway tour of downtown Honolulu including the historic and cultural locations. Our tour guide, Kiliona, really knew his stuff and enhanced the tour with his personal knowledge of the Polynesian culture. The weather was partly cloudy so we were out of the sun much if the time. This is a must do activity for all visitors. Earlier this year, I did the Waikiki Segway tour and it was just as good but a little on the warm side. An added bonus is the military discount that they offer.

Awesome time with Kiliona! What a great guide!
My husband & I have wanted to take a segway tour. So glad we waited for this one. We did the historical & cultural tour. We cruised all over the place & saw things we never would have found on our own. Kiliona was friendly & knowledgeable. We would definitely recommend Segway of Hawaii to anyone looking for a great tour of the area.

Probably one of those bucket type experiences. Besides being a great way to see the area, the Segway is a gas. Alan and his crew could not prepare you better and ease your way into a Segway master. By the end of our tour we only wanted more. We’ll worth the money and everyone I have sent the pictures of me and the family on the vehicles can only say WOW

The in store training is very quick and full proof. Ryan our tour guide was great, full of info and the most helpful guy on two wheels.
Jeannie is so full of energy and just happy help anyone what ever the situation.
We only wish we had more time to do more tours, it was worth every penny.
We still tell everyone we see and will continue to do so.

This was an AWESOME experience! We had been walking by this storefront everyday since they were located in the lobby of our hotel and I kept thinking that it would be fun and then that voice inside my head speaks up and tells me I’m crazy and I will kill myself. Well today when we got back from our Pearl Harbor Tour we decided to ask if they had availability– turns out they could take us in about an hour and we told them we’d think about it and be back.
Decided that people Segway all the time and don’t get hurt– let’s try it and live outside the comfort zone! We had Katzu as our guide and I believe he’s relatively new with the store– but he was very good at getting us trained inside the store. I took forever to catch on and get used to the stopping– a key factor to know… but Ryan stepped in and helped and I eventually «got it” — I was so afraid of turning, but that was easy! My husband of course caught on right away and then we were off… we had a very nice tour of Kapiolani Park and up through the Historical House Area — took a nice picture with Diamond Head behind us– all in all a great time and it was a lot of fun!
I will definitely recommend this to my clients and would certainly try a Segway again. It helped me to get over my fears that stemmed back to my trip to Waikiki when I was 18 years old and crashed a Moped into a parked bus.

These guides teach you how to feel comfortable with the segway before going into their tour. We had Sami for our historic tour. She was fabulous. Danny was an excellent back up and helped ensure we were caught up if we fell behind. He also added some information of the weekend activities. They were truly awesome. Worth my three hours. Oh, be sure to stretch a little before getting on and take advantage of the stops. Bring a camera and some water (or buy some from them, its cheap). Good people all around!

We took the Diamond Head Tour — it was expensive but well worth it! We got to see a lot of Waikiki and went to a fantastic look out on Diamond Head. And Segways are SO FREAKING FUN! Great tour — definitely recommend.

Segway is the way to go to explore Hawaii while having fun at the same time. There are different tours to choose from and we decided on the downtown /​cultural tour.
Ryan was our tour guide and he is one cool cat! We got along and shooting the breeze and felt he was already a friend once I hoped onto the Segway. He was informative and took pictures for us along the route which was awesome.
We took a few breaks along the route just to stretch out our legs and we even stopped off to try the sweet apple banana in Chinatown. We never had it and it was very good.
I so want a Segway now. This is a great way to explore a city, so check it out. Next time, I want to explore the other tours they offer — I can’t wait to be back.

I had an amazing time! Our guides were absolutely terrific. They were very informative, and were easy to talk to about anything.
We had a fairly big group, so 3 guides watched over us (1 in the front, middle and end).
It’s a little scary at first, but after 5 minutes or so, you won’t want to get off and it’ll come naturally.
One of our tour guides, RYAN, was so helpful. he told us about some local hotspots to eat at.
Overall, this was one of the best experiences I had in Hawaii. It’s a MUST if you have not yet done this. and SEGWAY of HAWAII provides amazing service!

Jenna from segway handed me a brochure and told me about the tours. At first I was skeptical because I’d never ridden a segway before and i was scared. But she assured me it was quite easy after all.
After my making reservation for the diamondhead tour, Mike P. took me up hawaii’s infamous volcano all the way from the hilton. It was by far one of the coolest activities I’ve done in Hawaii. Highly recommended!
