I order an omelette with toast instead of rice. They charged me the regular omelette breakfast $ 5(menu price listed as $ 4.99) & charged separate toast price at $ 2(menu price listed at $ 1.95), which my total came out as $ 7.26. I should of gone to 3 Star Gourmet Restaurant for a descent omelette for the same price! Never again! They rip you off big time!!!

Great food at reasonable prices! For you sleepyheads, it’s one of the few places in downtown that serves breakfast till 11pm. My fav is the Morning Rave Platter, which comes with steak, eggs, and rice or fried rice for 50 cents more. Nothing complicated or fancy, just tasty and satisfying food. For lunch, I really recommend the fried saimin and bentos. While prices have gone up a little, you can get a bento filled with steak, rice, spam, chicken wings, etc. for only 9 dollars! They also have various Korean foods like meat jun and kalbi. Overall, a solid reasonable place for a quick breakfast or lunch

I don’t know what to write about aside from the fact that it’s pretty much the only place in downtown where you can get a decently sized bacon, eggs, and rice breakfast for less than $ 5. I didn’t even know it was called Steak Rave until my Unilocal app told me I was right next to it! Good value, convenient location on Alakea + King, and the Korean lady who runs it is really nice! P. S., service is FAST!

I got the fried rice special with potogee sausage, it was okay, service is always fast which is why i 4 star’d it. Hubby likes steak and eggs in the morning and steak ans shrimp for lunch Price for steak is moderate. You could get better at other places, but because its so convienently located in downtown, it gets pretty busy during lunch time.

Walking around downtown I stumbled upon Steak Rave on the corner of Alakea and S. King St. Trying to decide where I want to eat my conscious appeared to help me. On my left shoulder an individual dressed in red I will call RED and on my right shoulder an individual dressed in white I will call WHITE. Here is the conversation with my conflicting conscious RED: Cy you have you try this place out it has 4 stars on Unilocal Me: Yeah the food looks good WHITE: Cy I thought you said you wanted to eat something healthy today RED: C’mon its Aloha Friday Me: It is cash only WHITE: Cy I thought you also said you wanted to save money RED: Check out the prices, steak plates under $ 7 thats a steal! WHITE: Steak plates under $ 7 can’t be good RED: Cy you gotta get the RAVESAIMIN, reviews on Unilocal recommend it. It comes with full plate of fried noodles and Steak. I heard its the RAVE… you get it. WHITE: Very original RED. Just think you can get a plate of noodles from the manapua man for a $ 1. Okay since you are eating here, get the special of the day for only $ 5. Today special is Fish Jun. You can save money and eat a little healthier RED: All I have to say is… does that have steak… NO! WHITE: But Cy loves and needs to have his rice. Me: Alright its settled I’m getting the RAVESAIMIN RED: Yes RED wins again! You gotta listen to RED! 20 Minutes later after scarfing the huge plate of fried noodles! RED: So what aren’t you glad you ordered the RAVESAIM! N WHITE: That was a big plate, now you will be sleepy Me: Yes I am happy I choose the RAVESAIMIN. It was a huge plate and filled me up. The noodles was flavorful and the steak was perfectly cooked(not overcooked). Definitely a satisfying plate of food! RED: Good job RED! The moral of the story is… Cy is weird and talks to himself. No its always listen to the individual in RED… in a red Unilocal t-shirt! Why who did you think the individual in red was?

I used to come here all the time for lunch for the $ 6 steak plate. Prices have gone up and the portions of steak have gotten smaller. It’s still great food, but I still miss the portions I and value I used to get. Also the bento #3 that I used to love went from $ 7 to $ 9.

This is no Morton’s, or Ruth Chris, but for cheap sirloin on the go, this place hits the spot. Garlic Steak is a delicious, semi-healthy, and quick lunch. Their chicken is good as well.

Give this one a miss; precooked presliced dry steak, aggressive upcharges including for«garlic», and flat tasting mac salad.

Their menu says they’re called«Alakea Delicatessen». Very cheap yet delicious lunch of fried saimin and steak($ 6.50). The steak is well-cooked and seasoned without any bad or fatty bits, and the noodles weren’t overdone or oily. Generous portion of noodles too. The lady behind the counter is very sweet and friendly. Add-it-yourself salad dressings and sauces which is nice. Conveniently located on King and Alakea, with bright signs on the windows. I want to try their breakfast plates sometime; they open at 6 am which is nice. They also cater.

A good solid four stars. I had passed by this place a hundred times and dismissed it as an unremarkable hole-in-the-wall, but then found reviews that convinced me to give it a try. I was really hungry for a burger for lunch, and it’s hard to beat one for $ 2 – 3, but the reviews here talked me into the Steak Saimin. Big container of noodles and a small amount of very nicely-cooked and seasoned steak slices for $ 6.80. Friendly service, even when I had to unload a wallet full of change because I was a dollar bill short, and the sign on the register said«No credit cards». Fast, too, even for 12 o’clock, though more people were walking through the door as we were getting our food. A few stools to eat in, but we took ours to go. Island comfort food, with lots of flavor and without all the grease. Will definitely return!

I never miss getting the Tuesday Special shoyu chicken plate at Steak Rave Alakea. The shoyu chicken here is the best in Downtown.

for that simple lunch, try their rave fried saimin — a generous portion with your choice of bbq chicken, steak or shrimp — all for $ 6!

this place is such a hidden treasure i don’t even want to write a Unilocal review about it and attract attention. it’s cheap, delicious, and hits the spot. today i ordered a sunrise platter and got a whole can of vienna sausage, about 3 eggs scrambled and a generous portion of rice for $ 3.44 including tax. i love the bruddah moco, but wish it came with a little more corned beef– but it is SO good. the steak and saimin plates are great! i definitely recommend it here if you’re the cash carrying type.

Delicious plate lunches. Excellent prices. When I worked downtown, I went back over and over again and loved it every time. It’s ono!

If you’re in downtown and you’re craving steak for lunch, this is the place you want to go. They season their steak well and it’s really tender and flavorful. I’ve been here numerous times and I haven’t had a bad cut of meat. The $ 6 steak plate comes with the usual 2 scoops of rice and you have a choice of salad, you also get a fountain drink. The best time to go is after 12:30pm because it’s less crowded. It takes them awhile to cook the steak so if you want your food super fast then this place probably isn’t for you.

The steak saimin is really, really good! I go there at least once or twice a week just to try their steak saimin. It is quite addicting and they do take credit cards, although they don’t advertise it much. Very reasonable too and given the prices around downtown, it is about as cheap as it gets. Can’t get more value than this place.

I agree with a statement that my friend tells me each time I mention this take-out place: «Steak Rave definitely satisfies your blood-thirsty carnivorous side»! :-D I keep my usual order here as simple as they come: «8 oz. steak plate, cooked medium rare with a side salad»…all for under 7 bucks. The 8 oz. steak plate manages to ease my fat kid-like hunger. I also think the steak seasoning they use is pretty wonderful, and I love how I can create a ranch dressing swimming pool over my salad since it is self-serve. ;-) Yet, what stands out more than the food though is the exceptional service. I don’t think I have ever had a bad service experience here. The woman cashier(a shame that I don’t know her name by now considering how much I frequent here) is always friendly and seems to move the lines pretty quickly without backing up orders with the chefs in the kitchen. I never have to wait more than 4 – 5 minutes for my order, even during the 12 – 2PM lunch rush. I am also impressed by the free small drink of your choice that they give with each order. Granted, no one is going to be doing cartwheels or shouting off mountaintops anytime soon to the notion of a free small cup of soda, but I do firmly believe it is little extras like this that can differentiate ho-hum service to good/great service. Only qualm I have is I wish there was a more consistent operational definition here to what«medium rare» is. Sometimes I get it medium rare like I asked, sometimes more towards medium well, and sometimes the cow is still mooing when I pork it with my fork. Overall, a great lunch plate place that can definitely fill you up for a bargain price!

I love this place. The steak here is better than Blazin’ Steaks, which interesting enough closed down shortly after this place opened. The steak and shrimp combos is great(steak, shrimp, rice, your choice of salad and a drink all for $ 7!) but my favorite thing here is the steak and noodles for $ 6.25. It’s hard to maintain a Subway diet with this place right next door. Their menu also features a bunch of tasty looking breakfast items that I’ve yet to try but have heard good things about. The middle aged lady working the cash register is always nice and very friendly. Definitely a great place to eat lunch at for downtown business folk.

I was reluctant to try a «cheap steak» place. I mean that is total oxymoron. I once had a «famous» $ 5 steak in Vegas 5 years ago and I’m still chewing it. However I was pleasantly surprised by Steak Rave. I had the steak and fish combo which comes with a drink all for $ 7 and the mahi was cooked well and the steak was nicely seasoned. It’s a pretty basic entrée but it tastes good and there’s good value for the price. They also have burgers and some other things. It all looked pretty good. You can add garlic to your steak for an additional fee.

For a cheap local lunch, this place is a good place to go. Ordered the fried saimin steak plate for $ 6.25. Although there were about 7 people waiting for their plate, I only had to wait 5 minutes for mine. Maybe because they already made extra from some other order, The steak and sauce dribbled over saimin noodles, which is mixed with green onion, spam and tiny pieces of cabbage were flavorful, and on the sweet side. The noodles were not overcooked, and the steak was grilled just right. Portions are a good amount too for the price. When I have a craving for steak, and get a chance to walk up that side of town, I’ll return to eat there again.
