The Shoreline Hotel Waikiki

Had a great experience at this hotel. The rooms were clean and nice. Ours had a lanai (balcony) where I had a beautiful view of the Ross Waikiki… also a pretty decent view of the mountain.
I really appreciated the fact that they had some energy saving controls in place. Some of the lights and the Air Conditioner is dependent on a room key being inserted into a slot in the wall. I’ve seen a lot of hotels put flyers pleading with guests to save energy but this is a more proactive approach.
One thing that I did not enjoy is having Valet only parking available. The Valet drivers were extremely nice, don’t get me wrong! I just prefer to self-​park.
The pool on the roof is also a nice touch if you came all the way across the Pacific for a pool instead of the beach!
Last note: The restaurant attached to the hotel is amazing! It is no longer a taco place but a place that has delicious kalua pork eggs Benedict. I forget the name but definitely worth checking out!

Just Stayed here last weekend while in Waikiki. Awful Customer service from the minute we arrived. The Valet attendant was the most rude and disrespectful man I have ever encountered at a hotel or any parking service. He was hassling us, rolling his eyes and didn’t even offer to help us get our luggage out of the car. He clearly thought my sister and I were much younger then we look because he tried to charge us a $ 5 «personal service fee» to hold our car in the loading zone while we checked in… which he didn’t end up getting because we are not dumb college girls on spring break we are young career women there on business and used to traveling and dealing with service people. He would’ve received a nice tip larger than his «service fee» if he would’ve just done his job with respect from the beginning.
the room was just okay. didn’t feel very clean though. The in-​room Kuereg coffee maker had a leftover cartridge still in the machine from the guest before us, the lampshades and surfaces were a bit dusty and there were eye makeup stains on the pillowcases, they were clean just stained. The carpet and floors also felt a little grimey and sticky.
The receptionists working during our stay were all nice but didn’t go out of there way to be helpful and welcoming, but the fruit and cucumber water in the lobby was nice and refreshing.
short walk to major shopping/​starbucks /​beach but beware. if you have rental car you’ll have to pay about $ 30 dollars a night in cash ONLY. and when the valet is full you have to self park across the street in a parking structure that is under construction and hard to get in and out of.
Would not stay here again.

I stayed at the Shoreline on Halloween and had a good time. the location is close to the clubs in Waikiki and we could even see how crowded club sky was from our lanai. However the lanai was small and faced a run down façade of the building next to us. The stay was brief, but the room was comfy and check out was easy. The lobby had refreshing water and they give you a coupon for the restaurant Heavenly next door. (at Heavenly-​Skip the Acai bowl and get the eggs Benedict). I look forward to staying at the Shoreline again.

On the most part the hotel experience was great. The staff were more than helpful and friendly. The rooms were comfortable and cleaned well daily.
Only two negatives… the pillows were very uncomfortable. Also, for a touristy area the pool closed way too early. After a day visiting the island it would have been relaxing to enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool.

at 9:50PM the same nite, LOL. it was a last minute thing bc our original plans fell thru, but it wasnt all that bad. Being the reviews seemed «ok» n the price was VERY decent for the last minute booking ii didnt mind.
After finding this place thru my GPS at first thought ii was hesitant to drive up this little drive way that said to have the place ii needed to go. Keep in mind ii have full size Dodge Ram n thought «hmmm ill never make that turn up there» Lol… Up making it up this little hill were about 6 stalls n no way to get out but to go back down. As we sat in the truck for a couple of minutes n decided to call the hotel to make sure we were in the right area the guy who answered automatically knew what kind of car I was driving so assumed that they were cameras’s on us being there was no one in the parking area. he advised that we leave the truck and go into the front lobby to check in.
Upon entering the lobby JD greeted me with a friendly smile and was very personable. I really appreciated the GREAT customer service he had given me. I had asked if there was any other parking besides the street parking that they had for the hotel being my truck wasn’t going to fit in the parking garage down stairs. He told me that they didn’t, but was nice enough to move around some cars where I had pulled up to and left my truck near the entrance. I was a happy camper, I wasn’t comfortable leaving my truck on the street. Being that it was a late reservation I didn’t really get a chance to take a look around. JD was nice enough to explain how everything went and what and where I needed to go to get to my room.
When we entered the room, to my surprise it was nice and looked just like the updated pictures. It was perfect for my fiancé and I. The bed was on a platform which I love and the bathroom when nice and clean. It was filled with your necessities as well as packets of q-​tips and cotton balls in disposable bags:), ii thought that was cute being thats one of the things ii forgot.
The next morning I decided to take a look what was on the balcony and see how the view was. And I thought that was the funniest thing. Being located on the 3^rd floor, I knew the view wasn’t going to be that great, but ii didn’t think it was going to be that bad either, LOL… What was in front of us was a run down building with some wires or strings hanging from the balcony. I wasn’t mad about it, ii thought it was quiet funny… ii didn’t mind it at all. For the price we paid and the VERY last minute reservation it was fine. I am assuming the higher in levels u go the prettier the view:), lol… If you can stomach the view from the lower levels, this place is a great place for a quick place to stay… The beds are comfy, they even have a microwave and a little refrigerator along with some complimentary waters and coffee. ii would stay here again…
Ohhh wait… ii can’t forget to let you folks know about the $ 30 parking. yikes ii thought that was VERY high, for parking. but oh well, my truck was safe and ii wasn’t going to complain about it…

Stayed here in January for 2 nights. The pictures online look better than how the hotel looks in real life, but that’s how it always is for hotels. The room was small but that was okay for the two of us since we are both petite.
The customer service was great, they changed our reservation from 5 nights to 2 nights with no hassle. I would have given this hotel 3 stars but I’ll give it 4 since the guy at the desk was so accommodating.
The only negative thing I have to say is that the drain in our shower/​tub wouldn’t stay up so the tub would fill with water when we showered… we ended up using a pen to prop the drain plug up for the entire stay.
We asked ahead of time for the highest level available because we didn’t want to be stuck with a direct view of Ross or the ugly buildings surrounding the hotel. We ended up on the 11^th floor which was okay but we could still see Ross and the ugly building below
We didn’t see any bugs in the hotel and it didn’t smell weird. The hotel is in a really good location because it was only a couple of blocks away from the beach. There is a Starbucks across the street and Island Vintage Coffee is only a couple of blocks away!
The parking was valet only for $ 30/​night. We paid the first night and found metered street parking the second night. We had to get up before 6am to move the car to another meter because the space we parked in had a no parking from 6am-​5pm sign. The meters we saw were 2 hours max, which ended up to be around $ 3.00 for 2 hours.

We arrived the night before Halloween. There were two options, one… We do valet and two… We park across the street in public parking. I felt that both were ridiculously expensive. The valet is 30 dollars and self parking was 25? Self parking was horrible btw! The parking structure was so gross and stink, and the elevator was located on the 6^th floor, and there is only one elevator in that parking lot… Otherwise you’d have to go down the stink stairs! I wanted to valet but unfortunately they were full. That upset me even more.
We arrived at our hotel around 9pm, it was a fast check in. I like the modern look of this hotel, it’s quite small but with the price I payed, I was expecting a little more. In the lobby there’s an awesome sweetened iced tea. Please help yourself, it’s free and super yummy. We got a room on the fourth floor, the room itself was okay. It was quite small, and I didn’t like how you have to put in your room card to activate the AC. At least it saves electricity for the hotel? Idk…
The bed was small. The room was small. Once again, The bed was small. The TV was small. The porch was small. Everything seem SMALL! although we got a queen, it seem close to a twin. The bed was quite comfortable, at least I was able to sleep well. The TV was so small! I wish they would at least put a 42 inch screen! I just felt that the way that the room was designed… was weird. The view from our porch was a parking garage, it was quite upsetting. I guess I can’t expect too much, but I was expecting just a little bit more than what we got because of the reviews I have read prior to booking this hotel.
I honestly like the location, it’s central of Waikiki and located near Ross and H&M… If only they would renovate the rooms a little bit and do something about the parking, then maybe this hotel wouldn’t be so bad at all. For now, I think I’m better off at Pacific Beach Hotel.

Stayed here in May and loved it! We were there meeting some friends, and it was my husband’s birthday. They left a lovely little card in the room and chocolates which was too sweet! The rooms were a good size, we stayed on a city view room… So the view was what we expected. But good for people watching. Definitely will be staying here on our next trip to Hawaii! The service was spectacular and I loved the pineapple tea in the lobby :)

Okay, first things first… the staff couldn’t have been nicer. The location was good (not great) but my preference is to be closer to the zoo end, so I can’t fault the hotel for that. The place was well-​maintained, the rooms were small but cute, and everything worked well. The iced tea (pineapple) and the mint water in the lobby were nice touches.
Two stars is the best I can do, though. My friend booked two beds. We got there and there was one. We said something to them and their response was basically «Sorry, that’s all we have.» Which means that my platonic friend and I got stuck sharing a bed… and my boo on the island couldn’t sleep over. I had to go there. So my friend had me paying for half a room and half a bed that I only used half the time.
Would’ve been four, maybe five… but that was WAY not cool, and put a serious damper on the trip. I wouldn’t go back for that reason.

Decently priced, seems to be newly renovated and a very short walk to the beach. Couldn’t have been happier with the stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well.

I’ve been meaning to write a review forever. Firstly, being Hawaii makes anyone go into an immediate happy trance. Then next would be the perfect bed in the hotel your staying at.
Lush and plush pillows and mattress. We all have our preferences of mattress softness and hardness. I find personally this hotel group have the top priority for good sleep.
The hotel staff is welcoming and friendly, the complimentary fruit flavored water and tea at the lounge is so good after a hot walk.
I love the color of the pool on the roof. Small but you never seem to over lap with other guest so you find yourself having the pool all to yourself.
I had an amazing stay and worth the value.

We stayed here for 8 nights and it was a perfect fit for our needs and our budget. The room was clean, housekeeping was prompt, and the staff was friendly. The free coffee, hot water, cucumber water and pineapple iced tea in the lobby was great! The bed was really comfortable with lots of extra pillows.
Our room was 1230, a «Partial Ocean View King» on the corner of the 12^th floor. We did not have any problem with street noise at this level and the blackout curtains worked really well since we never fully adjusted to the time change and were asleep well before the sun set every day. The view is just that — a partial ocean view on one side and a mountainous city view on the other. As other reviewers have stated, there is an older rundown apartment building on one side of the hotel but you can request to not be placed in a room that faces this building. We couldn’t even see it from our room.
Staying at a boutique hotel is perfect for us as we don’t really need to pay premium rates for a room on trips where we know we have no need for the extra amenities available at a larger resort. I appreciate that Shoreline does not charge a resort fee and wi-​fi is free! No breakfast included, but you can ask for a room with a microwave and refrigerator if you want to prepare simple breakfasts in your room.
The location is unbeatable — right smack in the middle of the scads of shopping and food available in Waikiki. If you’re planning on staying in the immediate area, you don’t even need to rent a car — most everything you’d need is within walking distance, including the beach! Ross is right across the street, which is a big plus. Starbucks, Jamba Juice, and IHOP are also nearby but there are tons of local places to eat as well that are amazing.
DO NOT miss eating at Heavenly Island Lifestyle, the attached restaurant. It was fresh, amazing, and delicious. It was the best breakfast I had while on the island and I’m so sad we waited until our last morning to check it out because now I really wish we would have had the chance to eat dinner there! We found a 10% off coupon waiting in our room which was a nice perk.
I do wish there had been a dresser or chest of drawers in our room — we kept our clothes in our suitcase for the week. There is a closet with hangers and some floor space for your bags, but for longer stays having a place to keep your things would be great.
We are completely satisfied with our choice to stay here. You really can’t beat the price for being located right in the middle of Waikiki and just a quick walk to the beach.

Worst hotel in my life.
Small beds, awful smell in the corridor and in the room.
My card key from the room didn’t work three times and too get a new one you need to spend 30 minutes in the lobby!

Totally impressed with what we received from this hotel in regards to our budget. Since we booked this hotel as a package deal through Alaska Airlines, for 4 nights/​5 days, I know we saved a good amount since nights here start at $ 200+ a night.
Mind you, I’m a very frugal person and I don’t need the luxurious amenities to enjoy my vacations, but this place made me feel like a special guest with all the little things they did. So the things I liked were:
— at check in, they recommended going through a mom and pop excursion company instead of going with a big name place. I like how they support local business
— got to check in early
— they had free refreshments at the lobby which we got every time we were going in/​out
— housekeeping restocked on everything (towels, bath products, etc) without even needing to be asked
— more renovated, and up to date hotel
— had a fridge, microwave, a Keurig brewer with free first cups of coffee
— clean
— walking distance to Waikiki beach and a bunch of shops. Ross was right across the street if you needed to purchase something quick (partner’s swim trunks flew off the balcony to never be seen again)
— I felt it was in walking distance of everything, including the Enterprise where we rented out vehicle
To Improve:
— rooftop pool is very small and only had room for two lounge chairs which were already taken by guests
— one way street (this can be good and bad)
— $ 30 daily valet parking (how about $ 20? :))
— Lyft and Über sometimes had a hard time finding us
That’s pretty much it for now. Going to check out tomorrow, by if anything significant occurs between now and then, I will update.

I think this hotel is typical of what I’ve seen Joe de Vivre do. The come in and remodel old, smaller hotels and tag them as «designer boutique.»
This one was remodeled but not quite all the way — the bathroom, for instance, was showing some wear and tear.
And I don’t know if it was just me, but my room was super small. It fit a double bed and that was about it. It had a desk, but you had to take the lamp off it to see the TV — that’s how small it was. I suffered through four nights there.
There’s also a tiny pool on the hotel rooftop. Frankly, I was a little afraid of climbing the stairs to get up there and didn’t find the trip worth it once I saw it.
Now the positives:
Price. It was relatively inexpensive compared to the bigger hotels that may cost twice as much just blocks away.
Location. It’s right in the heart of Waikiki — steps to shops, restaurants, etc. Bear in mind, staying here you will feel like you’re staying in the middle of a big city, which you are. You won’t feel like you’re on a quiet island or in a relaxing Hawaiian resort. You will however be little more than a block from the beach.
Service. The kids working the front desk were superb. They really were like tour directors. They took the time to explain how to get places, gave recommendations, and were generally helpful.
Would I stay here again? I don’t know. Maybe if I were just stopping over on the way to another island. But if you’re on a budget and want to be in the heart of everything, this is probably a good option for you. Probably.

I recently stayed at the shoreline for three nights.
A great boutique hotel one block from all the stores in Waikiki.
Flavored water is free at all times of day in the lobby.
Free coffee and newspapers in the morning.
The room are a decent size. Keurig, small refrigerator, and microwave in the room.
Comfortable beds.
A private balcony.
An attached restaurant Harvest is here as well.
My pre paid rate was $ 155 a night (taxes included) which is a steal for the quality of this hotel in a prime location.

My bf and I booked our stay here because of the location. The other reviews seem to be pretty inconsistent, so we gave it a shot — the free wifi caught us too.
Five stars for the service — which I think is the most important thing aside from cleanliness. Is the hotel brand spankin new? — no, but their entire staff was very friendly and helpful. Even if the lobby was busy with new guests checking in, there would be someone else helping you get a few beach towels for the beach. I needed a knife/​butterknife one evening to cut some fresh papaya I bought from the farmer’s market and a gentleman went out of his way to find me one (mahalo). We were given tips about the wifi, shortcuts to the beach, local places to eat and so on. Originally upon our checkin, there was a mix up about the room we booked. We got accommodated a bigger room — the only catch was it was the room had two full sized beds. Not a bad trade.
The only downside of the room, is the bathroom is really small even for two people, and there wasn’t a fan to air out the steam from a hot shower. AC was nice, room keeping was consistent with cleaning and towels, so overall we had a great experience.
The restaurant, Heavenly right next door is a must try!

I picked this over a condo because of the rave reviews, boy was it a mistake. Our bathroom wasn’t clean when we checked in and that was a sign. We found out the hard way that they have until 5pm to clean. And cleaning here is the bare minimum — they empty the trash, make the bed, lightly spray the sink, tub and toilet and change the towels. They don’t vacuum, thoroughly clean or sweep the restroom or change the sheets! I know because we marked the inside of one with a pen as a goof. Apparently, they also smoke on the balcony. Cigarette buts and an empty pack were left on ours after they ‘cleaned’.
The service is worse than the cleaning. One day they didn’t clean the tub at all, the next they didn’t leave any washcloths. The manager was very dismissive about the whole thing, like he was doing us a favor by taking our $ 1400 for the week. The bed is pretty comfy but it’s right next to the bathroom where there’s no vent. They have great exfoliating soap but you only get one small bar at a time. There’s a nice-​size balcony but you might catch a whiff of your neighbors smoke if you step outside. We also saw a prostitute circling the Ross across the street at night!
The King bed city view room was bigger than I thought it would be and the Wifi worked. But you can only use the business center internet for 20 minutes for free and you have to pay to print. Also, only the first cups of coffee and tea in the room are free. There are cups but no saucers. Some rooms have a microwave/​fridge. There are a few drawers to store clothes but no dresser or dining table. Thank God we requested a room with a desk or there would be nowhere to eat. You have to tip the valet daily of course in addition to the $ 26 per day. The best thing about the Shoreline is the location but if you had Gucci and Chanel money, you wouldn’t be staying here!
I stayed at the Aqua Palms before which was much better. Their housekeeping isn’t great but at least they have patio furniture, a dresser and a dining table and chairs. If I had it to do over, I’d have gotten a condo through
. I do not recommend!

By joining the Joy of Life club on the Shoreline website, we did receive a bottle of red wine which was nice. But I’d trade that for a genuinely caring staff any day.

Love, love, love this property! Anytime JDV puts their touch on a hotel, it’s always a good thing. They did a nice job incorporating the aloha spirit with their uniquely JDV stamp.
When looking to book a hotel in Waikiki, here are the best things to consider about the Shoreline:
— Location: it’s only one block from Kalakaua so it’s quiet and not as loud and boisterous as the other hotels right on K, but it’s close enough to all the action. It’s centrally located and close to Royal Hawaiian Center and the Beach Walk. The International Marketplace is a quick 5 mins (or less) walk. Waikiki Beach is blocks away. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping areas all right downstairs.
— Staff: Everyone here was genuinely helpful and friendly. The front desk staff were even so generous to extend our late check out to accommodate us since our flight was canceled and we needed to travel instead on a redeye. The housekeeping staff were always so pleasant when we would see them in the mornings. Sonny, Dustin, and Alex, the bell men and valet staff, were always prompt with retrieving our car for us.
— Cleanliness/​Style: the hotel is newly renovated and well appointed.
— Rates: Moderately priced and great value for location.
Additionally, there is always hot coffee, tea and water and a business center in the lobby available at all times. I would not hesitate to stay here again when in Waikiki. I love boutique hotels and there are so many great reasons to stay here.
