My goodness, this place is amazing. I decided I wanted an acai bowl on my second day here, so off I went! (If I were made of money, I’d probably start each day with an acai bowl and end each one with a poke bowl, but alas, student loans gotta bring me down.)
If you’re searching around for this place and see Buffalo Wild Wings on your right, just keep on walking until you see the Alamo car rental – it’s located to the left of that!
They make em’ on the spot, so bring a little patience with you (that being said, it didn’t take too long, although I got there shortly after it opened).
I was originally going to get a small, but after seeing em’ (they looked so delicious *-*), I wanted a larger size, so I went with a regular. I got the Tropical Tribe Bowl, which is a blend of acai + guarana berry juice and topped with organic granola, banana, strawberry, blueberry, raw organic honey + bee pollen.
They have smoothies here too, but I didn’t get a chance to try those out. Maybe next time (if I don’t get wooed by another acai bowl, because that is entirely possible…)?!

My wife, and 18 year old daughter Amy were here in January this year. Amy is vegan and had an ace bowl every morning for breakfast and raved about it. I tried it a couple of time and it was sensational. We tried some on the North Shore at Pipeline where it was very good but did not compare to Tropical Tribe. I have also tried it in my home town, Byron Bay (Aust) but Tropical tribe is easily the best my daughter and i have ever had. I am back on my own for a conference and now I have checked in to my hotel am off for an acai bowl.

I’m Brazilian, a world traveler, and an açai aficionado. Hence, I know a great quality açai. This one is the best I have ever had in the United States from California, to Miami to New York, I always at least sample the açai, if it’s not too watered down, I will have it. But this one tastes like I’m in Rio de Janeiro. Plus the staff is Brazilian, so they know that a true açai tastes earthy and not like ice and banana. ;)

2 part review. 1^st the Acai bowl is awesome. Very finely blended with Guarana. 2^nd The location is not pretty. It’s also not very busy. Your sorta inside an echoey building. It feels like being in a Burger King though the food product is excellent.
There are other places busy and great for people watching that also make a great product.

Açai is from Brazil and there are Brazilians who work here. Having a good quality Açai is important to them. They even offer the original Brazilian blend base with guarana, for lots of energy. They specialize in Açai bowls, it is not just one of many products like in other places, that’s one more thing I love about this place. After living in Waikiki for two months and having tried lots of Açai bowls, I have to say that nothing beats the bowls at Tropical Tribe. Right opposite the Modern Hotel it’s definitely worth checking out!

We went to many different places all around Waikiki where they offer Açai Bowls and Tropical Tribe is by far the best Juice Bar. My favourite is the Hawaiian Bowl with the Premium Topping. Nothing but yummy

I really love Acai bowls. It’s a bit of an obsession. On this trip to Hawaii I ate five bowls from different places. This was by far the best. I got the original (non sweetened) bowl. Get a large. The small is too small, the medium is fine, but you’ll want more because it’s soon good!
The place is hard to find. It’s underneath the McDonalds in a little mall area. Enjoy!

We were here twice in two days, the first time for a mid-​afternoon snack after a day of frolicking in the sun, and the second time for a quick ‘lunch’ before the wedding. There are plenty of places that you can get acai bowls — it’s pretty much a staple on brunch menus in Hawaii — but I figured I wanted my first acai bowl to be from a place that specializes in them, which Tropical Tribe does. Tropical Tribe is also known for their ‘authentic Brasilian’ style acai bowls, if that matters to you.
On our first visit, I ordered the Aloha Acai Bowl with premium toppings. Premium toppings include strawberries and blueberries in addition to the regular toppings of banana, granola, and honey. Just FYI, the blueberries are not fresh.
I found the honey on the first acai bowl way too sweet. If you are sensitive to this, you can definitely ask for the honey on the side (which we did the second time we visited). It’s nice to have the option to adjust how sweet your bowl is — especially since the fruit toppings are already naturally sweet.
The second time we visited, I ordered a Tropical Smoothie, which was pretty much an acai bowl without all of the toppings. It was yummy, albeit not a great meal substitute… which we found out a few hours later.
Service is a bit slow because there are only two people working behind the counter sharing 1 – 2 blenders. If they could scale up their business, I’m sure they will do great!

Great acai bowl here with friendly service. It is across the street from the Modern hotel and down the steps. I got the tropical acai with the tropical topping, which includes fruits and raw honey bee pollen. This makes them different from other places, that I have noticed. Also, their acai seems more fresh and less frozen. I definite place to come back again and again.

I love Acai Bowls from Hawaii. My go to spot is Island Vintage but it was too far from the hotel I was staying at. Fortunately, Tropical Tribe was across the street. I can’t help but to always get a large especially after my morning runs. I missed acai bowls so much that I went to Whole Foods to buy frozen acai.

The Acai Bowls are delicious and priced right! The staff works as quick as they can, but depending on the line, the wait can be long as there is normally no more than two people working at any time…
Great place for a healthy breakfast or snack!

HANDS DOWN the BEST acai bowl on the island! The owner, a Brazilian guy, boasts his use of unique and authentic Brazilian acai. This is compared to the Sambazon acai frozen smoothie packets that are used as the base of most other acai bowls found on Oahu. In fact, you can buy those mass-​distributed Sambazon acai packets at Costco. But, Tropical Tribe uses acai that is not from Sambazon. Rather, it is imported from Brazil by the owner of Tropical Tribe, I believe.
I’ve been a long-​time customer of Tropical Tribe and have seen how successful their business has become over the past three years. They started out as a food truck in a small parking lot on Kapiolani Blvd. In a short time, they have grown out of that food truck and moved to a permanent location under McDonald’s, at the bottom floor of the Discovery Bay building located at the edge of Waikiki.
I’ve probably tried more than 20 types of acai bowls from many restaurants since 2006 (most of them being from Hawaii or California), which is when my love for them first began. Saying that now, I realize I should really make an Acai Bowl Unilocal List. When I do, Tropical Tribe will definitely be my number one pick for Acai Bowls in the state of Hawaii!

I became an instant fan of acai bowls after trying them in Miami. If you are looking for a clean, healthy breakfast that will give you energy to deal with the humidity of Hawaii, Tropical Tribe is the place to be. The acai is excellent. They cut the fruit fresh. They also top it off with incredibly delicious honey that differentiates their acai bowl from other ones I have had.
It is not easy to find from the street as it is tucked away inside a group of shops. It is next to a MacDonald’s so you can use it as a marker. It is next to it but tucked away under it.

One of my favorite places to get acai bowls. The people here are super friendly and nice which I love.
They also have smoothies which fairly priced and they have different sizes of acai bowl you can get.
If u are in hawaii, you must stop by this place. Good healthy food, friendly people and great prices. What more can u ask for?

I’d give 3 stars for the execution of the basic açai bowl, and because this place is surprisingly tricky to find the first time you go. From other reviews I’ve gleaned that this is the legit Brazilian way to make an açai bowl, but i wasn’t blown away. It was fine, but not like, «WHAT?! That was so good!» Still… I add a 4^th star because I got to try something new: raw honey and bee pollen as toppings! My brain felt rewarded by expanding my horizons. So there you go. Evidently authentic, but didn’t especially light my fire. Definitely glad to have tried it, however.

Can never get enough of this place I go almost every morning and get a large tropical bowl with tropical topping!
Not only are the treats amazing, the staff is too! I have always been treated so good there no matter how busy they are!
They take their time to make sure you get exactly what you ordered and to make sure it meets your expectations! Always giving their 100% when it comes to your order!

We were feeling dehydrated and «undernourished» after our walk so we stopped by for a healthy pick-​me-​up. We had read about this place in a past Sunday newspaper article as they serve authentic (sourced and made by) Brazilian açai bowls. It couldn’t be further from truth as the owner (Andre Alves de Moraes) is native of Brazil and ingredients are imported from Brazil.
This brick and mortar née food truck is named after native Brazilian tribes that first created the açai bowls. Tropical Tribe offers 3 sizes of açai bowls: small ($ 5.50), regular size ($ 7.50) and large ($ 9). Each bowl comes with different topping choices: Standard (no cost — banana, granola & Organic honey), Premium ($ 0.70 — granola, banana, strawberries, blueberries & Organic honey) and Tropical ($ 1.70 — granola, banana, strawberries, blueberries, raw honey from Lehua floweres and bee pollen). In addition to açai bowls, this health-​conscious shop offers a variety of fresh fruit smoothies, sorbets and gelatos.
There is parking within Discovery Bay but we walked over so we don’t know what the parking cost is. The shop was quite busy with tourists from the Waikiki area even at lunch time. Our first visit was at breakfast time, around 8AM, and there were several visiting families here.
We ate our açai bowls and felt refreshed to take on the rest of our day!

The best acai bowl I’ve ever had in my entire life. If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be the Hawaiian bowl with premium toppings.

Absolutely loved this place. After walking around Honolulu we came here to grab a healthy snack in the afternoon. I found the place through Unilocal and I’m pretty sure I would have missed this place otherwise due to its hidden location. But once we got there we were greeted delightfully and the staff there were super helpful. We ended up getting an acai berry bowl and they were nice enough to substitute strawberries when I told them we didn’t want bananas.
The final product was so worth the search and walking opportunity cost. It was just delicious. Acai berry base was out of the world and I wiped my cup clean. We would definitely be back if we ever get a chance to be in waikiki or Honolulu area. So healthy and so yummy. Real aloha snack

If you want legit acai bowls, come here! Where else would you get a Brazilian treat, other than from a Brazilian?
I got this on my first day visiting the island, which pretty much ruined me for the rest of the trip. It’s all about consistency and taste of the acai base, and I haven’t found anyone else (yet) who can match that. All the other places just make this liquidy concoction and think that topping it with the same fruit, granola and honey makes it an acai bowl.
It can be a little hard to find the place, as it’s tucked away from the street, but it’s actually in a really nice area to chill next to a few car rental places. Also, be a little patient. It takes a little love and aloha to make such a wonderful treat lol
