Uye Downtown Lunch Bunch: Hasr Bistro

Thank you so much to Grant S. for such an awesome UYE! I was so excited that I finally got to join in on one of the infamous Downtown Lunch Bunch UYE’s!
We started the outing off at HASR Wine Co. for the weekly Tuesday evening wine tastling. I noticed several of the other yeeps picking up their favorite bottles that they sampled, so I figured that I may as well too. I was a little disappointed that when I finally decided that I wanted to pick up a bottle of the cabernet that was being sampled someone else grabbed up the last four bottles. C’mon, Jacob! Too slow! That’s ok, I chose a bottle of the zinfandel instead.
After our adventure in the wine shop we headed over to HASR Bistro for the Dine half of our Wine & Dine experience. The food was absolutely spectacular! I got to try the French Onion Soup, Foie Gras, Osso Bucco which was made with cheek instead of shank, so it was super soft and tender, the HASR Cassoulet (my favorite of the night) and the Ahi Tower. In case you’re wondering, no, I didn’t eat all of that myself. I shared with Grant S. and Gary N. Great idea on splitting everything guys! Brian M. was also kind enough to let me have a taste of his Escargots. So delish!
Even though the food and wine were spectacular, the company was the highlight of the evening for me. I always love to hang out with my Unilocal buddies, and meet new ones. Here’s a few Yeeps in action!

Wine & dine makes life fine! Yup, I made that up all on my own. Unilocal event #3 ever for me, and I had a great time! Met some new people and said hello to some I already met; good times all around!
We all met and started out at a California based wine tasting at the HASR Wine Co. and it was such a nice and reasonably priced selection! Ended up buying a bottle of the Cabernet Sauvignon to go with the dinner that we had just next door at the HASR Bistro.
I guess size is deceiving? Because all the petite ladies on my side of the table destroyed our plates all by ourselves immediately, and the three huge guys next to us passed plates around and shared. It was cute! Same with the wine… the guys shared a bottle, and I drank my entire one by myself, haha. In my defense, at $ 17 for the bottle, it was cheaper/​cleaner/​simpler than buying 4 – 5 separate glasses/​cocktails. (^_​^”)

Boy do I love HASR Bistro. We had such a great group of Unilocalers who came out last night. The conversations lasted long after the last pour of wine, the last note played on the guitar, and the last bite of crabby salmon.
We all met first at the HASR Wine Co. for their Tuesday tasting that runs from 5 – 7. They were featuring California wines under $ 20. After buying our bottles we moved next door to the bistro for dinner. Grant, Gary, and Jacob, you three are so funny staging all the food for pictures!
Some ate their food family style, but funny enough, the women were too greedy with our fish! We didn’t want to share at all :) Maybe next time… maybe! So glad I could make it to this one.

Grant you sure know how to do UYE right! The wine tasting and chit chat at HASR Wine flowed seamlessly into the dinner next door at HASR Bistro. Great time had by all, with excellent food and full glasses of wine in hand… Awesome. Felt so at ease with all the wonderful Unilocalers smiling and having a good time. Looking forward to the next one… GOOD TIMES!
