Description

Specialties

We’ve become the largest hostel in the state of Hawaii, offering the most amenities and services anywhere. Our buildings are unique because they face each other and are joined by a central courtyard and lounge area where we host all hostel events. We have had the pleasure of hosting large groups and we love catering to individual travelers from around the world. All of our staff are selectively interviewed and hired directly by the owner to ensure the customers will get the best service possible from the moment you check in, until you check out. The friendly staff is here to serve you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, whether it is pointing you to a restaurant, giving you the local scoops, or helping you rent a car.

Our roots as a hotel provide hostellers the best of both worlds; we provide hotel features with the intimacy and interaction typical of hostel travel. We act as a central hub for travelers to explore the islands whilst building lifetime connections, memories and experiences.

History

Established in 1998.

Independantly owned and operated since 1998. The Hokondo Management Company converted two buildings, which for years had been apartment rentals, into hotel and hostel accommodations. Three years later, when the Banana Bungalow (at the time the largest hostel franchise in Hawaii) closed down for business, they selected us to take on all their existing and future reservations because of our ability to support a large guest population, yet still provide an intimate setting for social interaction. With the influx of backpackers we changed our focus and changed our name to the Waikiki Beachside Hostel.
