Just got in from a very long flight from Detroit. It was approximately 1230am wang Chungs time and this is exactly what we needed an adult beverage and to hear some good karaōke! Cory and brian are absolute sweethearts. We had the jalapeño margarita and then mww got cory’s specialty«happiness in a cup» pretty much sums up honolulu! Thanks for giving us a great start to our trip guys! We will see u again before we leave! ;)

My friends and I frequented this place a total of 3 times over the course of 4 days. To say we had fun is an understatement: we had a blast! The drinks are yummy(lychee kamikazee shot and happiness in a cup are my faves) and pretty affordable. If you want to sing, give them a song and $ 1 to go along with it. Their website lists all of the songs they can play and you wait until it’s your turn. They also give out these fabulous fortune cookies that have hilarious mean fortunes in them; the cookies are huge too. Service is really great: they pay attention to your needs and will come sing with you! The second and third visits, we enjoyed delicious nachos and popcorn chicken. SOGOOD! Highly recommend this place if you’re looking to unwind at night.

I really like this bar!!! They have cute drink and food specials. I love their descriptions!!! I totally forgot to take a picture of the menu though — so sorry!!! The karaōke here is heard by everyone — and they have great singers here!!! If you’re a little shy, don’t worry — no one sounds bad and everyone is applauded!!! There is such a happy and friendly vibe in this bar. I’ve only been here twice, the first time we drove and were lucky enough to find street parking about a block away. The second time we caught an über and was dropped off right in front of the hotel. I highly recommend an über or taxi or getting dropped off. Parking in Waikiki is of course a premium and who wants to worry about having to drive after having so much fun in this cozy, happy, fun-loving bar!!!

Drinks are fun and when Danny and Brian are around, you’ll have fun. guaranteed. This my favorite place to hang out in waikiki area.

When I am at Wang’s I feel at home. I loved little Wang’s and although I was scared of change, I now embrace big Wang’s. If you come before 8 you can sing free Karaōke. Make sure that you don’t drive here. Take an über. BC the drinks, the ambiance, the fun is intoxicating. They also have baller food made by Mexican Randy. Dan the owner is adorable and always remembers a face. He’s so kind and welcoming. I really can’t say enough amazing things about this place.

This is my go to recommendation for all my island visitors who are looking for a fun friendly place to karaōke. I would never know this was considered a gay bar until I went in the restroom and had batman sharing the shower with robin. I also would have never found this place because it’s inside a hotel and very tiny without help. It makes for a cozy encounter with a new friend to share the mic with. The drinks go down easy as you request your tunes, $ 1 per song. I have yet to order any food but the drinks were on point. Not sure where parking is for this joint? We parked at the zoo and walked over. The zoo lot has an app that you can add money to your car from your phone. I love coming here even though I’m terrified to sing. I enjoy the crowd, atmosphere and the fun time. My friend told me if you #wangchungs on your Instagram the pic comes up on their screen in the bar.

Updating this review after considering all the other times I’ve been there. It’s a great bar. On the weekends, it is packed and service is pretty good. Drinks are fun and when Danny’s around, it’s just that much better — He makes people laugh and ensures enjoyment of a fine establishment. The place is clean and décor is cartoonish themed. Has one bathroom so may have to wait but it’s still one of my favorite places in town. One bad event shouldn’t deter people from visiting this fine establishment. I would have updated sooner but after getting a message about being«ungrateful» because the level of service was lacking on that day really did not motivate me to update this any sooner. The one bad instance was with requesting songs. Every karaōke bars I’ve been in Honolulu requires #1 per song, which is fine and worth the money(especially here — I think they have a great range of music, easy search catalog from your mobile device, and decent graphics behind those lyrics) When we got there, there were 11~12 songs on the queue. Great, I figured we can drink for a bit, sing a few songs and move on to the next bar. We easily got a table and put in few songs. I put 3. We’re enjoying our time and they start adding the songs. 12 songs later, mine hadn’t been added. I asked if they were going to add mine(which I was told later«rude» because I interrupted his busy cleaning… Okay.) and was told it’s coming up. Some group put in a lot of songs. Fine. 6 more songs were added and none were mine. I left. Next time, I’ll ask how many songs are still to be added aside from the queue that’s listed. I believe little bit of communication from the staff would have changed this experience greatly.

Best bar in honolulu! If you want a fun kareoke bar with friendly staff, amazing cocktails and delicious food this is your place! Went almost every night I spent in Honolulu and practically tried everything on the menu. Chris, Rex, Randy and Dan the owner, all awesome! The Cucumber Mint Mojito and Lychee-cotini are to die for I’m already having withdrawals! Bring all your friends, you won’t regret it! Ps: ask for a mis-fortune cookie

I’ll have to say, this place have a great vibe and carries really nice drinks and great foods! Just for the record, I’m straight as an arrow, but have no problem hanging out with my lgbt friends. This is actually a really nice bar, I would definitely come here sometimes.

SUPER awesome spot for karaōke, cocktails and making new friends DRINKS: I haven’t had their food before, but Wang Chung’s has some of the best drinks ever! I am particularly fond of their lychee martini! Yum! SERVICE&SPACE: It’s a karaōke bar, that’s also very LGBTQ friendly, which makes for an awesome, inclusive, and hilarious atmosphere. There are some obvious regulars, but even as a newcomer — or a more irregular– guest you will always feel like you belong. Eveyone is here to have a good time, let lose, and SING! You might even make a new friend — I have on multiple occasions! The bartenders are also really great and friendly! The owner is almost always around too — you can usually spot him singing and smiling and greeting everyone! PRICE: drinks are reasonable and it’s $ 1 per song TIP: There are no books, so come prepared with a few songs you think will delight!

Such a fun place to hangout and sing your hearts out. The services are very good and quick. Everyone has a happy smile here. Order songs from their website, just write down the number in front of the song on their list, then, the microphones are yours. Two large televisions displaying lyrics. Everything is fried and greasy here, just the way it should be. The popcorn chicken were is delicious and addictive. The fries are oily and sweet. Maybe they are sweet potato fries. Not sure because it was dark. The cream cheese wontons and fried pickles are good too. Just watch your portions, or not :)

Summary: Great happy hour karaōke bar with a good crowd. Extensive English & Japanese song selection. Food is delicious. Mic’s a little low. You MUST bring your phone to get songs to work. Atmosphere: Neon, but in a good way! The bar chairs were really comfortable and there is plenty of room at the bar as well as tables along side on a weeknight. I could see how this place might get super crowded on the weekend. It’s for sure a chill bar vibe, but not so divey that you feel out of place if you’re more into lounges. The Drinks: Great drinks. Mixed and also non-mixed. They have delicious homemade ginger beer here. The Food: Surprising creative for a karaōke bar. Def get the popcorn chicken which is good whether you ask for sauce or not. I also highly recommend the Fried Okra, which is tempura’d whole vs. cut into little pieces. Okra obviously grows well in the Hawaii weather and just so darn worth checking out if you’re an okra fan. The Song list: Their process is to use your phone to look up the numbers to songs on their websites. If you’re not from the US, you’ll need to get wifi. After that’s all sorted you’re on your way. I somewhat prefer this given my last few bar experiences with sticky pages. English songs are plentiful with lots of very up-to-date songs and all of the oldies and goodies that you know and love across genres(musicals, rock, pop, etc). The Mics: I think they’ve set the mic’s far lighter than the music level, so you will do better with the«belter» pieces vs. the ones that require breathy soft singing. A quick reset of levels might be a quick fix to this. Not taking off for this, though would love to see them adjust the levels so that people can sing lighter.

Love this place! Great drinks, great atmosphere, and great people! Definitely a hidden gem in Waikiki. Have come here three times(first was the old location) and the quality of this establishment has gotten better and better. And now they serve an array of bar food? SOLD. Highly recommend the«boifrien» — where else will you see oolong infused vodka? Tastes like a fancy but extremely delicious and refreshing Arnold Palmer. Also recommend the Chinese popcorn chicken, reminds me of the chicken from Tapioca Express(back home in CA). We last came here on a Monday and karaōke is free until 8pm. HIGHLYRECOMMEND!

If you know me, then you know one of my favorite things to do is KARAOKE! And I have to say, I love me some Wang. Chung’s, that is. ;p I had been to the original Wang a couple of times and was totally digging the atmosphere. Only thing that kept me from coming more often is Waikiki and it’s parking. Wah-wah. But when my friends told me they wanted to check out the new renovated Wang Chung’s, you know the ol’ girl couldn’t resist! New place is just a little ways down from the old but it is a pretty lil thang! Located inside of Stay hotel, it still holds it’s intimate setting, but with a a little more room, gorgeous lighting, and more fun signature décor! I was sad you don’t go through the face anymore to get to the bathroom, but the new superheroes inside gave me a laugh. You can still look up songs online and they still have great cocktails, new and old. Lemme tell ya, double cucumber melon is the way to go. And now they feature a fun food menu too! That night was filled with lots of singing, amazing patrons cheering us on, and a great bar staff! Cory made tasty drinks fast while crooning some tunes, AND he remembered my name on the way out! Love it! Safe to say, I will be frequenting Wang Chung’s again, sooner rather than later. ;)

1st star — It’s named Wang Chung’s, which is magical no matter how you slice it. Either a reference to the fabulous 80’s band or something kind of dirty. 2nd star — it’s fabulously gay, which is just fabulous! 3rd star — The drinks taste like a hangover and boy do they deliver on that promise. But you’ll get so much sugary booze in your system that there’s no way you can’t have fun here. 4th star — The karaōke song list is great. Tons of fantastic music, including lots of new stuff. 5th star — The owner is uh-may-zing! I could keep going, but Unilocal stops me at 5 stars. Wang Chung’s is the place to get cray cray on any given night. Get your drank on, get your song on, and get down.

Okay! Before I dash out of the office I have to share my experience at Wang Chung’s last night… Our client was in search for a nice little place to throw an end-of-project get together for about 30 people. So he invited us to come with him to check this place out. The bar is located in the back of the Stay Waikiki lobby found on Koa Street behind the Hyatt Regency hotel. Not too sure if they have parking or validation so call to ask! The interior is, as expected, dark but very interesting! I haven’t been to a place that had such an authentic modern asian vibe(if that even makes any sense). It’s a very cozy place, probably could fit 70 people at full capacity. The concept of this spot is just so clear from the artwork to the little«trade» cards with the employees pictures and details on it are just too cute. And I can’t forget to mention how they serve the food in Chinese to-go boxes and decorated with Chinese newspaper! Happy hour is 5−8pm so come into to get $ 1 – 2 dollars off their special cocktails. They have such interesting drinks available! We tried out some of the pupus which were the pop chicken, tachos and some fried wanton but I can’t remember the menu name. Their food is not the most amazing in the world, and to be honest the pop chicken is a tad bit on the salty side, but they have very unique flavors here! I think it’s called Uncle Juans tachos, but these nachos are unlike any I have ever tasted! By the way, this is a free karaōke bar and the karaōke system is super high tech and impressive! There was a couple next to us at the bar who sang and we enjoyed their selections. The bartender even sings!!! And there are plenty of TV’s located around the room so you won’t have a hard time seeing your lyrics! Last but not least I must mention something about Dan!!! He was such a sweetheart and went to the bar to talk to us right when he came in. He told us all about the bar and how they started in a tiny place that could barely fit 30 people. He was so adorable and I think I’d love to have him as a friend! Lol PS — I don’t really know how the average person feels about ‘gay bars’ but please do not be turned off by this one! It just feels like a normal bar to me so try it out!

The new, bigger and badder«Big Wang’s» — recently relocated in September 2014 just steps away on Koa Street(right behind the Hyatt Waikiki) from their original, very much hole-in-the-wall location — is simply AWESOME. So much more seating and space, yet the new«Bigger Wang’s» retains all the love and aloha that the former«Little Wang’s» was so adored by its legions of patrons. The new«Bigger Wang’s» just started an all new pupu menu as follows: * f.o.b. — fried. oyster. bao. oyster, katsu sauce, asian spices, house slaw. * flied pickles — everything is better, flied. fresh battered pickles, sriracha mayo. * #45(ginger crab rangoon) — what white people eat. lump crab, cream cheese, ginger, scallions, wtf. * handcut house fries — made by mexican sweat & tears. fresh russet potatoes, sriracha mayo, house ketchup. * saigon pork hash sliders — a banh mi that doesn’t hurt the roof of your mouth. vietnamese style grilled pork patties, house pickles, vietnamese mayo. * general wang’s chicken torta — china man meets mexican. housemade flied chicken fingers, orange gastrique, chili dust, house slaw. * chinese popcorn chicken — those chinese people & their crazy scams. good food though. taiwanese popcorn chicken, flied basil, house dipping sauces. * uncle juan tachos — juan tacho is mexican randy’s uncle. house roasted kalua pig, chef mexican randy’s nacho sauce, mango pico de gallo, housemade wonton chips To wash it all down, «Big Wang’s» also added a new«drinkee-drinkee» to the menu called«Yuzu Me, Prease». Or in complete sentence as you would hear it at the Koreamoku Street«K.B.», «After you buy me do-link-ee, yuzu me, prease.» LOL! The«Yuzu Me, Prease» is made with homemade yuzu jelly, Ocean Vodka, distilled right here in Hawaii on the island of Maui, Housemade Ginger Lemon Fizz and Thai Tea. While I’m not into this type of drink, I will say the flavor is rockin’ it, while the texture as you slurp the Yuzu jelly from the bottom of the glass through the thick straw will remind you of a bubble drink. Ladies will probably love this one. All I can say is, Wang Chung’s new«Bigger Wang’s» location in the STAY Waikiki hotel is probably the best Karaōke bar you’ll ever set foot in and mic on. big Wang’s for the win!

I LOVETHISPLACE. It’s a little hard to find, tucked in the back of a hotel but you are home once you’re there. We went Friday and Sunday night this past week. We were able to squeeze a few songs in on Friday night, and even more with the less busy Sunday. EVERYONETHEREISSONICE! We befriended Kris, Dan and a handful of other regulars and not so regulars and could not be happier for the experience. We need a place like this in Seattle. Dan! This is Quinn! Send us some more mis-fortune cookies! Those were awesome! 5 stars all around, I will come back to Waikiki to come here and sing my ilttlle tone-deaf heart out!
