This company is socially irresponsible. They park their trucks with very noisy refrigeration equipment in front of our building and leave it running while they make their deliveries. This equipment is much louder from above than it is on the streets. After several complaint calls and notices posted on their drivers doors they continue to leave them running.
I am now boycotting all products carried by them and the stores the deliver to.

Y. Hata is one of the biggest food purveyors in the state. They are giants in the food service industry. They service restaurants, grocery stores, cafeterias and just about any establishment having to do with food.
I deal with these folks for work. As busy as they are, they are on point at least 99.9% of the time. Whenever they are short on items they give a courtesy call just to notify you on what’s going on.
Along with my colleague and I, we’ve had the opportunity to meet Tiffany, a customer service rep whom I deal with directly for any shortages with my order. It’s good to have finally put a face with the voice.
The Sand Island location is pretty massive! ChefZone is pretty close to it if I’m not mistaken. ChefZone is another story, that place is hella bomb! A candy store for all things culinary!
Y. Hata got the formula down! A company that has been in business for over a century, they’ll continue to serve all of Hawaii for many more years to come!

So they no longer have the shop to buy supplies. Once you get here — there is a sign next to a bin saying the value store is closed and to go to Chef Zone on Ualena St. They need to update the website and Unilocal

I’ve been here a couple of times but only recently have I been inside. Its pretty big, and seems like a warehouse with lots to choose from. My hubby usually comes here to get cups and lids. Its cheap which is good. Plus they practically have everything here, for your restaurant needs. The workers seem helpful enough. They are also going to be opening a membership store, like Costco or Sam’s Club. It’ll be opening on the first of November. They will still have this location open, but that’ll be interesting. I recommend this place to anyone who needs the load of anything cooking related.

If Top Chef came to my house and said I had 8 hours to build a restaurant, I would come here first.
My wife had been dying to check this place out as she is quite an accomplished amateur chef.
They have all the stuff you’d buy at a regular store, only in restaurant size.
Need a gallon of A-​1 Steak sauce? Look no further.
Making pies for 100 people and need filling? Look no further.
Need 10 lbs of frozen peeled avocados? Look no further.
My highlight were the spices sold in bulk. Seemed like a pretty good deal if you can handle a pound of allspice.
They also have a dazzling array of kitchen gadgets and supplies.
I liked the mixing bowl that was about the size of a kids’ pool. I bet you can marinate a whole pig in that thing.
My wife lamented that she can buy many of the gadgets for the same cost or cheaper on Amazon or other kitchen places.
She wound up buying a few squeeze bottles for her sauces.
It seems like the customers here are exclusively in the restaurant biz, and we felt a little unwelcome walking around this busy warehouse. The first to cashiers we tried wanted nothing to do with us.
The cashier who finally helped us was nice and apologetically stated «thanks for trying this place out.»
So next time you shop here and want optimal service, wear your puffy chef’s hat and hold a cleaver.

Our spot for our supplies… soup bowls sauce cups thongs knife sharpeners serving spoons everything you need. place can get pretty busy before closing time but workers come out to direct traffic into parking stalls.

This place is awesome. A chef’s dream of gizmos and gadgets. Everything from pots, pans, silverware, aprons, baking pans and butane torches (I bought one… you know… for crème brûlée). They also have takeout containers of all shapes and sizes. I do recommend checking prices of things online first (Amazon) as certain items are a little higher here. Otherwise, if I need something quick, I head straight here.

I just discovered this amazing warehouse with my husband that recently started a food venue. They are well stocked from top to bottom on their shelves of restaurant appliances, containers, bins, serving ware, ladles, restaurant last minute shopping all in one place! A great variety of catalogs to choose serving trays, dishes, glassware, wine glasses, bowls, etc. Everything from Modern to Fancy! Great Sales Associates to do business with. My favorite dessert they had in the freezer was a assortment of cupcakes! They are 4 for $ 7.10 but in the Alley Restaurant they sell the cupckaes 4/​$ 12. Delicious and worth every penny wherever you choose to buy! Goodies galore in this warehouse too! Huge assortment of flavored syrups for coffee carts, shaved ice carts, ice cream trucks, ice cream parlors… This is the wholesale of all the pounds of Hersheys chocolate syrup sold by bulk.
You can find a lot here for your home or business!
I will definitely come and shop here again in the NEAR future!

I’ve been here only twice. the first, I don’t remember much as I was just walking around and picked up some stuff. But I recently went back to buy something for work and I wish I had the time to actually shop around.
It’s perfect for any chef/​cook/​restaurant owner/​foodie. They wholesale their products to the public and if you want bigger bulks, they have that too! I’m not sure if they are cheaper than Costco/​Sams Club, but they have things any cook would need in their kitchen at a reasonable price.
I walked in thinking I wouldn’t get any service after having read a few reviews on Unilocal,but to my surprise, I had great service. I was immediately greeted when I walked in. I had to buy a big bulk item (not big enough that they had to send me to the call center) but it was a 50lb container and they gladly picked it up, helped me checkout, and brought it out to my car without me even asking for help. Yup, I was glad I didn’t have to drag 50lb’s from the store to my car. I’ll be back :)

Workplace errands lead me here often. I love the fact that you can call in an order to Will Call and it will be ready for you within 4 business hours. Service is quick, almost no-​nonsense like. Swoop in with payment and Im usually out of there within 15 minutes. The product retrievers are great and will always help me bring the items to the car. Personally, I think they just like to drive the carts around and this gives them an excuse to whip around the parking lot. Either way, its nice to not have to balance large boxes in my arms and fumble with keys.
Non perishable items may be purchased using a credit card. Food items are paid for in cash or company check. Dont know if a Y Hata catalogue exists for all products but I know that if I need an item, I must merely ask and I shall usually receive or get something comparable. Who could ask for more?

Ever need to cook for a large group of people or simply an insane number? Maybe you need some containers to store food? How about some commercial grade cooking tools? Well if you answered yes to any of the above, make your way to Y. Hata to get what you need.
Contrary to popular belief, the largest restaurant supplier in our city operates a retail store at its Sand Island warehouse that is open to the public. It is home to a lot of things that a chef or aspiring chef could desire!
The food selection isn’t the most extensive but it will serve your needs and in quantities that will feed the masses. Is the quality the best? No, but it isn’t the worst either and will do the job, especially if you are on a budget.
The kitchen tool selection also isn’t the greatest, but the prices are fantastic and the quality really good. Remember, you are buying commercial stuff that chefs at some of the best restaurants in town use.
Service is minimal so if you need help, be sure to flag down one of the staff as quick as you can. It really is a self-​service type place which enables them to keep their prices low.
Parking is convenient in the front of the store, despite the fact that it is located off Sand Island Access Road.
Definitely check it out if you need some cooking tools or just a large quantity of food!

If you do not have a wholesale account, then you are better off going to COSTCO for food or Resturant Equipment Wholesale down the street. If you want higher end products, then you need to go elsewhere as well. The do have a small high-​end baking selection, but the flour, sugar, yeast, etc is way expensive. I ordered almond paste from the mainland cheaper (including shipping).

Pretty much for the commercial sector but you can walk in to the showroom and purchase food items like Costco style sizes. The Chicken pieces are pretty cheap and a lot of other things are too buy you need to know your prices as there are things that are more expensive than Costco.
