I sorry I have to write this review but I wouldn’t recommend this dr to anyone due to the lack of customer service you receive from this office.
I called to investigate what charges I would incur for a surgery, including the consultation. The nice girls at the front desk told me the after insurance cost of the surgery but failed to make it clear my insurance wouldn’t cover the procedure for some time. I decided to visit their office thinking I could expedite the surgery. I went into the office. The dr. was nice and friendly. He did oddly question what type of medical insurance I have which I thought was unprofessional. All in all, he seemed capable and nice.
Then we went into the details of the procedure and the nurse informed us that I WOULDN’T be covered for the surgery for a lengthy amount of time, like a year. I was disappointed I even came into their office but still paid their consultation fee, a portion of the $ 200 they charge for a patient to talk to the dr for less than 30 mins, more like 8 minutes.
Then I get another bill for not alot of money but since I hadn’t been informed accurately before I went into the office, I was hesitant to pay it. I called and said I was disappointed about being told the discounted price for the surgery, but then couldn’t actually do the surgery for a lengthy amount of time. I was frustrated and greeted with an argumentativeness from the receptionist and the dr himself. They dodged what I was actually telling them saying thats what the insurance charges, I should know my insurance policies, and federal law says he can’t change his rates.
Its unfortunately but at the very least they shouldn’t be arguing at their customers about charges after they didn’t property inform the customer before they came in. Wouldn’t recommend this dr.

I am writing this review even though I’m not a patient of record with Dr. Yanagihara.
My wife’s friend from china had a dental emergency that needed urgent attention. With no where to turn, I googled various dentists in Honolulu. I called a few after hours at 5 pm on a Friday trying to get help the following day (Saturday). Dr. Yanagihara’s staff (Teri) called me back one minute after I had left my voicemail and explained that Dr. Yanagihara may be able to assist, pending the patient’s situation. Regardless, he took my wife’s friend the next morning and treated her.
I just wanted to make this review in appreciation to the doctor (and Teri) for being so kind and accommodating to help us on a Saturday, with last-​minute notice.
