History

Established in 1937.

Mr. A.J. Houle’s started his wig business actually manufacturing wigs for sale in his shop on Hanover street in Manchester NH at the time right next to Houle’s Barber shop. At first it was for men’s hair pieces, but due to the quality in less than a year in business Mr. Houle increased his staff and started manufacturing women’s full wigs and opened a beauty shop as well in the same location, In the late 50’s and early 60’s with the advent of wigs coming on the market such as Eva Gabor wigs their was less and less of a need for manufacturing them locally, at that time he moved into a new spot on Elm street renamed the Wig Salon «Wig World» Today the original Wig World sign is still a landmark on back of the building where many stylist still will recognize as the older NEKA salon supply building. The Current owner Robert Cook was blessed to purchase this from the Houle family and work Directly with 2 original employees when wigs were made local. We are the areas largest Wig Salon.

Business Owner

Bob is the only certified wig master in New England, taking courses where he could in all areas of the beauty industry to be able to always integrate his wigs and hair piece seamlessly. Bob further is a cancer survivor which gives him a unique insight to help others with the process of purchasing and having the confidence in wearing a wig. Stating to me as I wrote this on his behalf: «I have come to understand that it is not having thin hair or even balding that’s so difficult… It is that hair loss to so many means the loss of self identity, I do not look like myself so I do not feel like myself. I have heard so many time, ‘I just want to look like me,’… Clients don’t have to worry they will wear their wig in style, comfort, and confidence knowing that, only their hairdresser knows.» Bob stays up on all the new trends and techniques of wig making, cutting and styling. Has a business Degree from the University of Georgia and a Minor in theater where he found his fascination with Wigs
