We found Purdy’s farm in a list of things to do on Molokai. It’s a nice little mac nut farm that has 50 trees. Purdy is very knowledgeable and passionate about the trees and gives you the history of how he started his farm. He also lets you crack your own nuts. It’s good to see a hawaiian guy who really tries to contribute to the local tourism.

We were taken to the farm during our day trip to Molokai from Maui. It is an organic farm with delicious Macadamia nuts, honey and honey mustard. Not much else there, but it is authentic Hawaii not touristy.

Purdy’s is a MUSTGOTO! Remember, Island time is a reality! :) It may look small, but there is a lot of aloha in the folks here! We wandered in and found a farm with trees from the 1920s! They are still growing, still producing and the owner showed us each of the stages of Macadamia nut maturation, helped us learn about this great nut crop, and even showed us how they crack those devilishly hard shells! You can tell they created their tools themselves — that’s what real farmers do! We sampled our efforts, and also got some very tasty and healthy samples of the most delicious nuts ever! Their nuts are not roasted in oil — these are top quality nuts! The mustard is great too — but with limited space I maxed out on purchasing their top quality Macadamia nuts! They are SO tasty and the owner told us we could store them in the freezer if we needed to. The good news — they also ship to the mainland! A lot — LOT — of businesses on Molokai ask for cash payments. Checks are impractical, and credit card charges make their prices higher. Makes sense — aloha!

We have to add to the positive vibe of the Purdy’s Natural Nut farm. There isnt much more that we can add to the other great Unilocalers… but we had a really nice time. We LOVED love ntus, loved the honey(but didnt pack bags to take any home and my dad picked up bee keeping as a retirement job… so no need for extra!). Give this place a try and support local, true tourist… as others mentioned. This is some seriously organic and green tourism that was also tons of fun for about 10 minutes :)

We visited the farm in 2012 and really appreciated the family’s commitment to education. I think the sales is must a side business, as this farm is really about growing great nuts and informing stupid people like us about the wonders of this food source. But the nuts are amazing! Tasty, crunchy, all natural flavors, no added salts or oils. We put in a big order as much as we need to share with family and friends back home in Washington. Thank you for your service, Purdy Farm family!

I really am not sure what to say about this place. First, I am glad we found it. The woman who works there is really nice. But overall the experience is not much. We cracked open a nut, we tried some samples of roasted nuts, honey, and honey mustard. And we bought some stuff. That’s about it. We expected a tour or some info, similar to what we had on other islands. So don’t expect too much and you won’t be disappointed.

While sightseeing on Molokai on a recent weekend getaway, all Unilocal reviews pointed out this place for a wicked good time. A must do while you’re out and about on Molokai. Besides the rustic, unspoiled beauty of the island itself, there were plenty of things to do here and one of the was at this family owned macadamia farm. Maybe there wasn’t that much entertainment on othe island to speak of, but it was great to come here and just spend an hour or so immersing ourselves with some down to earth, earth spun culture and learn something that you won’t find anywhere else. The farmer’s owner took us around his farm for a mini tour and that was pretty cool. After learning about how macadamias are grown an harvested, we even got to crack our own nuts to eat, right off the tree. I must say that this is a unique experience and something new for me. Quite fun and adventurous for a my time on Molokai. The macadamia nuts are all organic and natural. No pesticides or anything of the sort were used. Just homegrown and very delicious. These were not chocolate covered by any means, but they did have a limited variety of dipping sauces for us to try and it was lovely. The owner of the farm was nice and very much down to earth. I think he feels appreciative that we were down at his farm at morning. Being here on the island was special and learning about self sustainability techniques really made me think of the future of Hawaii, as well as the rest of the world. Everything is cash only, so beware of this little fact. They have a small gift shop on the grounds, so you can bring back macadamia nut honey and honey mustard. I wasn’t aware of this fact until experiencing this for myself. It was an interesting concept and, by all accounts, it tasted terrific! I wonder if they sell them in Honolulu? All macadamia nuts are handpicked and roasted on property. Its really a neat place to come visit on a nice spring morning. Great for the kids and family who wants to spend quality time together while on vacation. The bag of macadamia nuts were not too expensive, especially when they are grown right here on Molokai. You can mail order the macadamia nuts from Purdy’s and other things. Supporting local is where it’s at out here and I was proud to pick up some bags of macadamia nuts to munch on for the rest of the day. Must see and do on Molokai! Support local! A+

Teased by paradise! Here’s a guy who retired from Aloha Airlines and has a cool business that makes everyone jealous. He’s a farmer who doesn’t have to farm. Mr Purdy has an ideallic relationship with his trees. They were planted in the 30’s and bear nuts continuously. He doesn’t irrigate, fertilize or prune. He harvests by collecting whatever drops from the trees each day — no picking of crops. It couldn’t be any more organic. He hand roasts all his nuts right there on the property 20 feet from the trees. Again, all natural — no oils. I have never tasted more delicious and fresh macs than those from purdy’s. Visiting the farm is literally being invited to someone’s home, they are so kind. What interesting stories in such a beautiful setting. I now mail order nuts from Purdy’s and have yet to find anyone that sells better.

I love this place!!! We came here in spring of 2008 and summer of 2011 and it never gets old. It’s free to check-out the farm. You just park on the side of the road and walk up the driveway to his house/farm where the owner will greet you. He will take you on a small tour of his farm and tell you about how the macadamia nut grows. The macadamia nut farm is organic/pesticide free/all natural for those who are really into that. The best part is when he lets you crack open your own macadamia nut and eat it… and then the tasting bar where you get to taste fresh coconut with macadamia nut honey and macadamia nut honey mustard. There is a small gift shop where you can buy macadamia nuts, macadamia honey, macadamia honey mustard, macadamia nut wood jewelry, etc… CASHONLY. This is a great place to bring kids and people of all ages. Last I remember, bags of macadamia nuts run between $ 7-$ 12. I think the honey and honey mustard is around $ 7. If you come to Molokai, this is definitely a MUSTSEE!

Had a wonderful time at Purdy’s Mac Nut Farm. Purdy himself is such a wonderful man, Hilarious at that too. My husband and I visited the Mac Nut Farm on a day trip to Molokai on one of our many stays in Maui. I absolutely plan on going back when we are there in September this year. By far the best Macadamnia Nuts that you will ever have.

My wife and I meet Purdy in September of 2002. When we arrived his farm was closed due to a coming home luau for his daughters first child. Purdy felt so bad that we came all the way from Maui to Molokai to visit his farm that he gave us a quick personal tour and then insisted that we join his family luau. I will never forget his hospitality and kindness and hope see him in the near future. Aloha Purdy, Mahalo nui loa! Danny Ballentine

There’s not a lot to do on Molokai, so when my mom wanted to take us to a macadamia nut farm i was less then thrilled. We went there and got a very good tour from Purdy himself. He was very knowledgable and it was a beautfiul farm. He let us crack some nuts and we did some taste testing with fresh honey, and coconut slices and salted/roasted and raw macadamia nuts. They even mail them to you! Best Maccers I’ve ever had. A must go!

This is absolutely another stop on the must-do tour of Molokai. The Purdy’s have been naturally farming this land organically for over 50 years and offer a great selection of hand-picked batches of macadamia nuts, either roasted or raw. Friendly tours hourly and a great chance to walk around and see the life cycle of the macadamia tree. Why go to a huge factory farm when you can get the down-home, family feel of this multi-generational nut farm? Plus Mr. Purdy is totally entertaining. Be sure to pick up a T-shirt, too, and we also found some limited edition carved wooden jewelry.

Purdy’s is a really fun macadamia nut farm you can tour, explore, and buy product from. The farm itself is beautiful, with HUGE macadamia nut trees, dirt pathways, and lots and lots of ferrel cats running around. It is a truly authentic Hawaiian experience! The owners are very gracious and their love for the farm and island is undeniable. The macadamia nuts themselves– the best I’ve EVER had, probably because they are so fresh. I purchased many bags of cracked, natural roasted macadamia nuts to bring back to the mainland with me. Everyone raved about them and we ate them a lot quicker than we should have!
