3rd Generation Ink

I went to 3^rd Generation Ink on a Saturday night as a walk-​in appointment. I’ve gotten all of my work done at one shop in Boulder, Colorado (Bolder Ink), so I felt a bit guilty like I was cheating on them. Bryan, with 9-​years of tattooing experience, seduced me with his jokes and immediately started free-​handing and sketching out the tattoo idea I had in mind. What a smooth talker that one is. I have to say I was initially turned off by this place because it’s literally at a gas station. However, once I walked in, I noticed how clean it was and then felt comfortable to get my work done here.
Bryan informed me that the minimum price for a tattoo at this shop is $ 80, and the price varies from there depending on complexity and time. Once the sketch was completed and I was happy with it, he gave me some paperwork to fill out before we got started. He then told me how he needed to shave the area on my body where I was getting my tattoo. He stated, «Shaving men’s chests is why I got into this business, the tattooing part is just an added bonus.» He had me and my girlfriend cracking up throughout the entire process, including his one story of a dude from his high school with a tongue ring, but you will need to ask him about the details on this one.
After the tattoo was completed, he cleaned it up, spread ointment on it, bandaged it up, and gave me instructions on how to take care of it. I paid what we had agreed on and gave him a $ 20 tip. Overall, it was a great experience, and although I have never gotten any tattoo work across Houston before, I would recommend this place for its cleanliness and quality.

Just got my first tattoo here and it was great! Bryan did an amazing job and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. The people were extremely nice and funny and it was a great time ! I brought a group of friends and they had fun also. Definitely will be back for another one soon

I’ve used the Shaw family since 1987. I only have 5 and only one was done by a non-​Shaw artist, I was drunk.
Yesterday Joe, who has done my two largest, did AMAZING work on my latest. As the oldest tattoo dynasty in the U.S. It’s easy to see why their reputation is so good.
Joe takes intricate designs and adds additional details that makes every tat unique. How cool is it to know that something you will have the rest of your life is unlike anything else in the world!!!
Little Larry has the cleanest studio I have ever seen. No wonder they won Houston’s most sterile and modern shop in the city.
Finally they are working on ideas to cover or re-​work the only one I got elsewhere as it isn’t up to Shaw standards. Much less my own standards.

I have gone to 3^rd Generation Ink with my wife twice and we have both received tattoos from Remy both times.
It was a great experience and any future tattoos will be done here as well.
Remy is a pleasure to work with as he is easy to talk to, and really wants to make your tattoo yours.
The business itself is modern, spotless, and very simple. It’s by far the cleanest tattoo parlor I’ve ever seen and it’s easy to get in and out of.

Jeremy Robards has been my artist for over 3 years. I was a walk-​in with no direction but ideas in 2013 and have had an ongoing experience with his artistry ever since. I imagine that one could frequent somewhere/​someone and be at the mercy of what they «see» for a piece, but after almost 3 years of superior and quality permanent work on my skin, I must say that he’s the cat’s pajamas. Patience, thoughtfulness, skill and experience are the qualities to be had here.

Awesome people and great work! Went there for a Polynesian style shoulder/​chest piece.
Remy is awesome. He designed the piece with ideas I gave him from a book he showed me to download.
Hands down would recommend him for work!

Was looking for a place to cover up a tattoo I had previously gotten. Walked in on an afternoon and Joe was more then willing to help. I told him my ideas and he drew a sketch with everything I asked for. He was patient and understanding with all my questions and concerns. After committing to the tattoo he would stop and let me check it out a couple times before he continued. He understood that my concerns came from a bad experience at another shop and he wanted to ensure that this would be a good experience and I would walk away happy. Joe was successful in making that happen. I am more then happy with the results and proud of the way it looks. I would highly recommend him!

Called early in the morning got an appointment later at night. Bryan is great. Very helpful and funny. It was my first tattoo and he helped me through it! Four of us got small tattoos and they were very accommodating. I will be back!

I have been to a couple of spots in houston but no luck, (by way of nyc) Unilocal helped me find Bryan who was great! The place was super clean, and he was super friendly, very open to the idea that i had for my cover up on my neck. I gave him my ideas, and came back to have my tattoo done. It took about a hour and a half, $$$$worth every penny… instructions on follow up care were on point. Thanks B!!!

It was my first time getting a tat and Burke was so knowledgable and made the whole experience so enjoyable n easy… I got an abstract dragon on the back of my neck and absolutely love it… 5 stars!

This was a first for me! I am not an artist, but Bryan took my sketch and made it beautiful, exactly what I wanted. The shop was super clean and he was happy to answer all of my questions through the entire process. Couldn’t be happier with my decision to get a tattoo or the place to trust with it!

This is the cleanest and most modern tattoo shop I’ve been. All the artist in here are very nice and make you feel comfortable. All 3 artist do very good work. Larry Shaw, the owner, is a world famous tattoo artist. You won’t be disappointed with your experience here regardless of what artist you go with.

I am SO glad I drove around until I found this place. I tried a couple other places first but they were booked for days/​weeks and I wanted my tat that very same day. So I came upon 3^rd Generation around 4 in the afternoon on a Saturday. Place was super clean, just empty. Joe was at the front desk and I told him I was looking for a quote for a colorful, flowery quarter sleeve. As his quote was MUCH less than what others have quoted me, I was very much interested. I looked around at the pictures on the wall and portfolios and decided what the hell!
Joe drew up a gorgeous sketch in minutes. I ended up doing everything in one session, less than 4 hours. It came out better than I imagined. I’m so happy with my tattoo and the level of customer service. I can’t wait to come get more work done in the future.

They are professional, clean, and will work with you. They will draw up something you may have in mind or you can choose from something already pre-​drawn. The prices are comparable to other shops in the area and you most definitely get what you pay for. I reccomend this shop to anyone looking for ink.
