AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

Getting your car serviced is not fun and, unfortunately, I often feel I’m being taken advantage of. Not the case with this AAMCO. I went in last week because my car told me to the technician had me in-​and-​out quickly with rotated tires and brakes flushed and a price substantially less than anticipated. I’ll be back.

I don’t normally write reviews for auto mechanics but this place is the real deal. Not only do they not try to rip you off but they really do give you the best service around. It’s tough to find places that are trustworthy and have to experience to provide great service, but this place has it all. Would totally make this place my go to place if I weren’t moving soon.

The owners are efficient, thorough, and most of all, HONEST! I highly recommend going here for any of your car needs.

I’ve gone twice before for an oil change. They’re nice, the oil change includes a comprehensive check of the car. Their usual wait time is longer than most for an oil change as is their price. Usually takes about an hour to complete and $ 40 for synthetic blend oil change. Today, I went in and waited for 30 minutes and was not even greeted. I left and went to one of the many oil change services that were nearby and my car was taken in immediately and for $ 10 less. There are too many services available to give such slow service.

My wife and I have been taking our car/​s to Aamco South Loop for years. I highly recommend doing the same.
At first we went because it was nearby and convenient. Based on the name I had low expectations, figuring it was a bland chain with workers who had no. real desire to perform well. On the contrary, it’s owned by a great guy (Chuck) and managed by another great guy (Bill). Chuck has spent a lot of time with both of us explaining problems, options, and suggestions. They have comped multiple inspections and refused to take anything when I offered to pay for their time. In the past at other shops I have had objects stolen from my car, AC vent handles broken, suspiciously many miles put on the odometer, etc., but here I have never had any complaints.

I have only ever had my inspection done here but both this year and last I was in and out within an hour. Very nice and professional staff.

Work brought me to Houston for a few months, so my wife and I decided to rent a place and bring one of our cars with us from NC. Everything was going well, until one day while driving to work our car unexpectedly broke down. Working with our road assistance company we were given the names of several repair shops that they would tow us to for repairs. Not being from the area we didn’t know who to choose, so we turned to Unilocal.Boy, were we glad we did… the Unilocal reviews led us to Houston AAMCO Transmission and Total Car Care. The reviews were so good that I almost thought they were fake, but I decided to give them a try. Everything that was said about them was true. The manager, Chuck, was extraordinarily accommodating, patient and professional. He managed to work me into their schedule without an appointment and got me out the same day. Their estimate for the repairs was the most competitive and they came in significantly below their estimate. I will be here for several more months and obviously hope I will not have any more car problems. However, if I do, my first stop will be to see Chuck and his professionals at AAMCO Transmissions and Total Car Care of Houston. I very highly recommend.

Called and they said they would get to me right away. I got over later than I wanted and they still got me right in.
Friendly service. I was done within 15 minutes and they were steady helping others as well.
I will be back. $ 38 oil change for 4,000 miles. Sure!

I couldn’t be happier with this place. Great service very honest and straightforward. Bill their manager really cares about his costumers and their satisfaction. Took my car today didn’t even took more than 5 min to find the problem. Just in time for my trip to california ! Def going back for any car problem

This is what you want to hear from an auto repair shop: Bring it in, and within 30 minutes we’ll have it looked at and diagnosed.
I actually was looking to solve a problem created by another auto shop who had done a poor job on my brakes. I took it back to that shop but they lacked either the motivation or the technical knowledge to find a solution. I also took my car to the Honda dealership, but you know how it is — I waited for 6 hours and they hadn’t even gotten around to looking at my car. I work long hours and do not have the wherewithal to leave my car with the dealership for days.
I dug around Unilocal,found AAMCO, spoke to Bill (the manager here) and he made me the promise above. Bill and the mechanics are incredibly skilled at managing multiple jobs (important for auto shops); they were already busy but had an answer for me quickly. They brought me out back, showed me what they found, and demonstrated the proposed repairs on my vehicle. AAMCO solved my problem in a timely fashion; Bill also spent time calling around to get me the best deal on the needed parts.
I can’t express how relieved I am that I found these guys. Highly recommended for any auto repairs or questions.
Relative to other shops I’ve tried, this location had the cleanest waiting area and the friendliest staff. They also have Wifi, if you need to get work done while waiting. Clutch.

This place is great, guys have been really helpful both times I needed car work. Will continue to go there in the future.
One time They were closing and I arrived too late but the staff directed me to another place I could go that was open later. Also they saw my front tire was low and quickly gave my tires some air right on the spot even though they were pretty much closed. A Mechanic you can trust your car with is priceless so I’m happy I found this spot

The shop gave me enough «we do not care» attitude.
Are these reviews real? I saw the great reviews so went to the shop for inspection and some minor repair.
At the counter, there was a secretary with little customer service skills. She was too busy watching TV to look at me. I tried to explain the problems of my car, she gave me a form staring at TV and told me, «Just write it down there.»
The shop was big, but quite. I saw two cars in the shop. I did not hear noise I normally hear at a car repair shop. Instead, I heard three or four employees joking around and laughing in the office. I waited for exactly 30 min. No one had moved my car from the parking lot to the working area. No one came to ask me about my car’s issue.
I asked the secretary how many people were working on cars. She said one or two b/​c others went to lunch. It was 4:00 in the afternoon. I asked for my key. There was a guy who looked like a manager sitting in the office facing the counter and the waiting area. He did not bother coming out of his office to talk to a unhappy customer leaving the shop.

This is a wonderful auto repair garage. You can tell right from the front door that the entire building is immaculate. Chuck (owner) and Bill (manager) run the store as if every client is important. They are honest about what you need fixed and what is not necessary at the moment. What more can you ask for? We bring both of our cars here for service and are confident that we will be treated with courtesy and respect.

I decided to have my car serviced here because of the excellent reviews I found, and to say the least I was not disappointed. I made the appointment to get my oil changed and tires rotated and balanced in my Audi A6. I also asked if they would take a look at the left CV boot to see if I should replace it.
My initial impression when I entered the shop was of pleasant surprise. Chuck (the owner) was working on the weekend, which to me implies that he truly cares about his business and customers, which was proven by the way he treated me and others in the shop that day. The receptionist was very sweet and the overall customer service experience was excellent. I dropped my car off to have it worked on, and a couple hours later Chuck called to discuss the CV situation. He was very honest and forthright with me, and told me that the boots had been essentially cracked and shot for a while now and if he were to change the boots now (6 or 700 bucks), the joints themselves would still need to be repaired (1000 bucks) eventually. So he suggested that I wait until it was necessary to change the joints and thus saved me 700 bucks that I’m confident most other shops would have gladly taken from my pocket.
A couple of other things were essentially the icing on the cake. When I came in to pick up my car I noticed that they only charged me the standard synthetic oil change price for my Audi (70 bucks). This was a surprise since Audis typically require special treatment and other oil changes I’ve had have been in the range of 110 or 120 bucks. Awesome. Finally, on the drive home I noticed that the car was pulling to the right pretty badly. I called Chuck up right away just to see if there was a likely cause of this that isn’t dire. He told me that it was likely my former right rear tire was older than the left, so when it got changed to the front axle it was dragging and pulling the car right. He told me there’s not much to do except rotate them back (which to me wasn’t a big deal since I was mainly concerned about the rotation being off due to a vibration on the highway). I came in right away and he rotated them back for me and fixed the problem. Best of all, he decided not to charge me for this. What a great guy!
Even if you have non-​transmission related work to be done, I HIGHLY recommend that you have it done here. You won’t find a more honest, hard working shop in the greater Houston area.

5. Didn’t try to sell me on anything I didn’t need

I found about about this location through a LLU– Leisure Learning class on car repair. I went to Aamco for an overdue transmission, brake, and coolant flush. They were courteous and upfront about the pricing. I will definitely recommend this location to anyone!

Incredible service & established customer loyalty right off the bat. Had a bumper issue and they fixed it right away free of charge a few minutes before even opening bc I had to be on time for a meeting at work. Highly recommended!

Do not enter! Everything extremely expensive here especially labor fees.
I need to spend above $ 500 to fix radiator leaking problem. When I declined the repair I was charged $ 100 for Auto Checking fees, for only 20mins checking. And they only pointed out the leaking problems.
Never go there again. I don’t understand why the rate is pretty much high when just google it.
