Tom Stringer at AJ’s goes above and beyond with every design. His designs are always fresh and unique. He always listens to my requests and delivers something I never could have articulated that is exactly what I want.

I called today to place an order for sympathy flowers. As I do not live in Houston, I found this florist online. Their rating was very high, and the photos looked pretty, so I decided to use them. Their website has an entire section for sympathy/​funeral flowers, and they had a list of the funeral homes that are in their delivery area. The funeral home I needed delivery was on that list. When I called the woman on the phone took forever to respond when I told her I needed to place an order. She said they were an «event» florist and that they had Christmas events going on right now. Um ok? What does that have to do with my order. She asked me the date and time of the delivery (I was calling 48 hours in advance) and then took an eternity to finally say «yeah I think we can do that». You THINK? Shouldn’t you KNOW that you can make the delivery for a FUNERAL or not? I was stunned. I then tried to describe what I wanted… I wanted a custom order (as they say they can do), but I had several questions. She could not give me ANY answers and finally said «I am not a florist». When I asked if there were any florists available to speak to she said no, and AGAIN stressed that they are an EVENT florist and everyone was out doing these EVENT flowers. When I asked her if she could have a florist call me so I could get answers to my questions, she said that nobody would be back in that day and possibly not tomorrow either. I guess none of the florists have cell phones? When I told her I thought it was odd that a floral shop would have no available florists, she for the third time started rambling about «events». So what if I was calling to order flowers for an «event»…would someone be available to me then? It was unbelievable to me that this person with no knowledge and no information, not to mention no communication skills would be the only one dealing with customers. I can not believe anyone would let their business be handled so unprofessionally. AJ’s Urban Petals… if you can not handle a funeral flower order properly, do NOT offer it on your website. Your customer service is shocking.

The Urban Petals team did an amazing job for my daughter’s October 4^th wedding. They delivered on everything that the bride had envisioned., they actually exceeded expectations.
The wedding involved two event locations; the Houston Arboretum and Treebeards Market Street. This required bridal party flower delivery to the hotel as well as set up at both event locations. Tommy’s team handled everything flawlessly, we were very confident in their ability, and they did not disappoint .
The bridal bouquet was fabulous, the bridal party flowers were beautiful, the centerpieces were extraordinary, the ceremony and reception set up was peerless.
The entire team was professional, friendly, responsive and so wonderful to work with.
Tommy Stringer and his team are true artist. The guest appreciated and remarked on the originality and artistry of the flower arrangements .

I was recommended AJ’s Urban Petals place because they had worked with succulents in bridal bouquets before. I was told that whoever does this type of bouquet needs to know what they are doing when working with such delicate plants, so I quickly made an appointment. Since I was planning the wedding, I had already interviewed 2 other florists that had also worked with succulents and already had an idea of what I was wanting. At the appointment, Tommy had a folder neatly placed with my name and date of wedding on it; there is a lot to say about presentation. He was dynamic and passionate about working with my ideas and even introduced other flowers that I had not even considered. My wedding is not for another month, but I can not wait to see what masterpiece he is going to create. I will keep you posted.
UPDATE: They did an amazing job with the flowers. My bouquet was gorgeous and unique. The only downsize was that the boutonnière’s were not labeled as quoted, however everything was figured out.
