Alan Cable Jewelry

I have a few pieces from Alan and I get compliments every time I wear them. Very happy with his work and glad to support local artists in Houston rather than purchase mass-​produced jewelry from catalogs that everyone else wears. Nothing against Kendra Scott or James Avery, they’re just not unique enough for my tastes.

Ludmila, Alan’s partner, was supposed to do my wedding rings. They were simple silver bands. She told us they would be ready by a certain date and she would call when they were ready. She didn’t call. I stopped by on the date she said to come and they weren’t ready. I had to come back another day and I tried on one of the rings. It was EXTREMELY tight but I assumed I was premenstrual or it was just a funky day. Alan had to physically pull the ring off my finger with all of his might. It was strange because we both were sized AT the store.
It wasn’t until our wedding day out of state that we realized the rings were too small. My spouse’s finger turned blue after our nuptials. My spouse had the ring sized at another store. The ring was supposed to be a 9 and ½ but it turned out the ring was 8 and ¾. We called to see about getting a refund because we were dissatisfied and the mailing back and forth would’ve been pricey. Her response was that if she compensated everyone who complained, she would go out of business. I wonder how often this type of thing occurs.
I’m happy she was willing to fix the ring, but shipping jewelry back and forth is pretty inconvenient and expensive. My spouse was out of town for school and we got married out of town. We both aren’t back in town until January.
She mentioned a no return policy or that all sales are final, but nowhere is it stated on receipts or around the store. If that’s her practice, it should be known in advance.

Alan designs and makes all the jewelry in his shop. I love his unique designs. If buying for holiday gift purchase, better plan and get there early as he tends to run out of jewelry the closer it gets to the holiday. His jewelry is sturdy and well made. You won’t be disappointed.
