All Day Boot Camp

The positive comments on here had to be written by staff!!! Someone posted on another board that she loved the class and that she lost 4 pounds!!! How can someone lose 4 lbs when the program (from Living Social) was canceled in 2 weeks because All Day Boot Camp didn’t have a permit to conduct the classes in Memorial Park. At first the classes were very disorganized and I was understanding to that because 200 people showed up but just as they started to improve they sent an email out canceling our classes because of their permit situation with the city. Not only that, but they said there would be no refunds because they were turning the classes over to another boot camp company that had their permit. Well, that would have been OK if the times and locations were the same but they were not. They were different and it did not accomodate my work hours. Thank goodness Living Social refunded the money ASAP. It was only $ 25 so it wasn’t about the money but about the principal. You can’t refuse to refund people’s money if you don’t live up to the agreement that was stated when purchasing to attend the class. I never comment on these boards but I had to comment on this one because of the poor way that the situation was handled.

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. I believe this company is going out of business… DO NOT PURCHASE A GROUPON OR LIVINGSOCIAL DEAL FROM THEM!
It looks like the previous bootcamp session in November/​December 2010 was cancelled because they didn’t have their permits to operate in the park. At least those people got an email telling them as much.
I purchased the December/​January 2011 bootcamp in Memorial Park for $ 25 on LivingSocial. I had been out of town Monday and Wednesday (first two classes), but showed up this morning and there was no one in Memorial except for me and about 20 other joggers. I never got an email or facebook post or anything from the company notifying me of a change. Then I tried to call both numbers from their website and the mailbox is completely full… couldn’t speak with anyone.
So I contacted LivingSocial to see if they knew anything and the message I got from them was that purchasing bootcamps through these local deal sites is a bad idea. The people who run these bootcamps are often unprepared for the large response and are poorly organized (like not getting permits for the park you plan on hosting 200 people in).
The silver lining is that LivingSocial refunded my money right then, no questions asked.

I’m one of the ~200 people who got screwed by this «bootcamp.» All of the reviews are spot on… except for the filtered ones clearly written by AllDayBootcamp staff. You Unilocalers who gave ADBC two stars are very kind, generous people. If I could give ADBC zero stars, I would.
The disorganization of this group was kind of a wonder to behold. It wasn’t worth the $ 25 I spent through LivingSocial — I can’t believe they have the nerve to normally charge $ 250. About a week or so into the bootcamp, ADBC announced that all classes were cancelled because
THEY DID NOT GET A PERMIT TO OPERATE IN MEMORIAL PARK OR SPOTTS PARK.
Ok, we all make mistakes, that’s not a crime; but instead of accepting responsibility by saying something like ‘hey folks, we screwed up, we’re very sorry,’ one of the coaches sent out a mass email blaming everyone except themselves. She blamed the City of Houston, the Memorial Park Conservatory, some random group of runners and if she had thought about it, even your mother. A quote from her email: «During our 5:45pm class, there is a group of about 4 – 6 sprinters who like to use the track and are mad at our existence. We have used the park since 2008 without problems until now.» Yeah, no problems because you didn’t get caught until now. Even if the sprinters did contact the City,
BLAMING OTHERS DOESN’T CHANGE THE FACT THAT THEY NEVER GOT A PERMIT TO OPERATE IN THE PARK.
The coach ended her email with a snide, passive aggressive comment about the sprinters. Very unprofessional and immature.
Despite shutting down the program, there was absolutely no mention of refunds whatsoever. Fortunately, LivingSocial refunded our money immediately. I feel bad for the poor souls who actually paid $ 250 for this mess.
Apparently, All Day Bootcamp tried to hold another bootcamp that was supposed to start on Dec 27. They cancelled before they even started because THEY STILL DON’T HAVE A PERMIT. Obviously, they haven’t learned a thing from this experience.
If you’re looking for a bootcamp, stay faaaar away. There are many other bootcamps in Houston to choose from.
[BTW — If a group of runners did complain to the City, I can’t blame them. With ~150 to 200 people, the bootcamp took over the entire track area making it impossible for anyone else to use the area. There is no other 400m track in the park for runners who needed to do speedwork. One group shouldn’t be able to push other groups out.]

Bought the Living Social deal that they had — actually bought 2, one for the upcoming session and another for the one after. First off, the workouts weren’t intense at all. After the first day, I thought «hopefully this gets more intense and tougher». Aside from the lack of intensity, the trainers weren’t helpful at all in regards to advising you of proper form and you could barely hear them. Also, they repeated the same exercises each day.
After only a week and a half (where the workout never got any tougher), they cancelled the Memorial Park and Spotts Park locations b/​c of «permit» issues. According to Ms. Candiss «they’ve been using the park for many years and never had a problem» — yea right. Oh, they are also «more upset about this then we are». So their way of helping their ‘customers’ is to 1) NOT give any refunds and 2) have us continue our bootcamp classes by joining another bootcamp. A little annoyed by the disorganization of the company, I decide to join the other bootcamp, which turned out to be another struggle. They weren’t responsive and I’ve been looking to join another bootcamp completely.
Since All Day Bootcamp won’t give me a refund, I thought maybe Living Social will. So I call them and the customer service rep tells me that BOTH of my vouchers have been marked «already been used according to All Day Bootcamp». Um, huh?! How could my second voucher which was for the December 27 bootcamp be used??? Living Social told me this is the first time they have heard about any problems with All Day Bootcamp and they will investigate the issue.
All Day Bootcamp is a disorganized utter mess and I think it was all a scam. If anyone is annoyed or upset about how things went down and how All Day Bootcamp handled the situation, I suggest you also call Living Social and complain to them.

this is a 4 week class and thus far ive attended 2.5. the workout is so so and is for people who dont work out regularly. for those who do, it is good if youre looking for a change of pace.
the reason i gave them 1 star is the fact that they «canceled» saturday classes. the saturday class is supposed to be at spotts park but because alldaybootcamp did not have a permit they cant have classes there. there is a saturday class but they cant post the location on their website nor email out the location to everyone in the class… seriously wth! i emailed candiss everett and she said the instructors should have told us where it would be… uh shady. she also gave me the number of some other person who i guess runs the classes. i texted him but no response. i guess they can have no written trail of where they are holding classes.
i gave alldaybootcamp the benefit of the doubt but now its just ridiculous. i bought this session through livingsocial which was $ 25 instead of $ 250. if i actually spent $ 250, i would ask for a refund because of poor management. so any of you who are thinking about doing bootcamp with them, dont because you dont know if there is a class or not.

This is not for athletes, or for people who currently work out.
They had to cancel all their classes at the Memorial Park location because they… wait for it… did not get a permit.
No organization, you cannot hear the trainers.
They only get one star because (I cannot give any less) I spent only $ 25 on them, instead of $ 250 (thanks to Living Social).

Man, I was just starting to get my groove on, and felt damn good doing it. I joined up with two girlfriends, and ended up seeing a couple of other friends there as well. While I appreciate All Day Bootcamp trying to make it right by getting Seal Bootcamp to take us over, I can’t help but wonder why this wasn’t ironed out before you would run a $ 25 special for the month? Did you not anticipate over 100 people showing up? Have you not run a bootcamp at Memorial park before? The times for Seal Bootcamp aren’t the same either, they offer one morning class, and one evening PE in the Park class. If nothing else this is a lesson for power of the groupon for business owners, LOL. I could care less about the $ 25 bucks, its just the fact that I was starting to really enjoy myself, and find a good pace on a weekly basis.
Really just bad business, they should have thought this out beforehand. Not cool Allday bootcamp, just NOT COOL!

I love love LOVE a good deal. So when I stumbled upon a Groupon for 16 Boot Camp sessions for $ 25, I bought! Normally $ 250, it felt like such a steal.
Wrong.
Because of my work hours and my commute, I signed up for the 5:00 AM class at Memorial Park. When I arrived, there were roughly 175 others ready to get their workout on. We were split into 5 groups but with Interstate 10 right behind us, it was nearly impossible to hear the instructors.
The exercises themselves were decent but I really had to amp it up individually to get anything out of it. Yes, I’m in the Army so I should be fit but I thought I would really get my butt kicked. The arm workouts were by far the most challenging and enjoyable but doing the bunny hop was reminiscent of middle school gym class.
After a week and half, I received an email saying we were no longer allowed to work out at Memorial Park and would be moved to Spotts Park instead. That’s fine, no problem, I was still getting to work on time. Then I received another email that evening saying all classes at Memorial Park and Spotts Park had been terminated and there would be no refund. Rude! I wasn’t mad about losing my $ 25 but for those that paid full price, that’s just wrong.
Why were the classes terminated? No permit. None. How can you hold a huge boot camp class but never inform the Parks Service? When some sprinters complained about our huge class and taking up the track, we were moved then told not to come back. Candiss Everett told us that she was more upset than we were and we could enroll in SealPT boot camp at no charge. Okay, that works. But the times are no longer compatible for me to beat the horrendous Houston traffic to get to work at a decent hour. So there went that. The email I got from was rather unwelcoming at best. A direct quote from Jack Walston, «When contacted by Allday Bootcamp we had to think long and hard about receiving your vouchers…»
I am very disappointed in this company. I do appreciate them trying to get those whose classes were canceled some sort of option but I don’t understand why a permit wasn’t thought of in the first place.

Anyone that is interested in going to their first boot camp class, this one is the one to attend. I signed up for one month long boot camp at Memorial for $ 25 when the original price is $ 250. I attended MWF and also the additional optional Saturday.
It was a great class, lost 4 pounds, and I am more energetic!

I might stop going to boot camp. Rather than feeling proud and energized from a work out (like I usually do), I leave boot camp feeling frustrated and unsatisfied.
All Day Boot Camp is not for those who are athletes, former athletes, or those who already exercise regularly. The work outs will remind you of middle school PE. The routine is generally the same routine of (1) cardio warm up, (2) core work (planks, oblique work, ab work), (3) squats, lunges; and Wednesday you use weights for shoulder & back exercises. It’s pretty boring. You’re all lined up on your yoga mats and you don’t really move from that spot for the majority of the hour.
They have mixed up the cardio some but there are too many distractions that will allow me to rank this place higher.
My problems with the place:
— Lack of instruction around proper form: for those of you who work out, you KNOW how important it is to have the right form. i.e. there’s no consistent instruction that you shouldn’t let your knee go in front of your ankle with squats/​lunges; they don’t tell you to avoid lifting your weights above your shoulder with shoulder raises.
— Some of the instructors themselves have bad form. i.e. with lateral leg raises (from the ground to work obliques), one of the instructors did not have stacked hips.
— I STILL CAN’T HEAR. Kudos that they joined the freeway noise rather than fight it. But they have bull horns and DON’T use them. VERY, VERY frustrating. I spend 75% of the class asking, WHATTTTT???
At least I am getting up to work out. Now I know that I CAN do a 5 AM work out, I will probably start going somewhere else.
