Bhldn

I always buy formal clothes in Bhldn. These clothes are very elegant there. I always have a good look and get compliments.
This place is really worth visiting. There is a big choice of accessories, though I am not a fan of them, but one time I have bought earrings there. They were so amazing that I thought to myself: you must have them. The quality is very good.
And, you know, the prices are normal, I thought it would be more expensive.

Normally I can’t even afford a pair of earrings at Anthropologie, so it’s a little funny that BHLDN was even on my radar. I didn’t end up shopping in store for my own gown, but I came with a friend who had seen a gown she liked online and wanted to come try it on.
There are a few important things to note before deciding to trek to BHLDN (if you don’t live in the area):
1) Although it’s associated with Anthro, it operates like a typical bridal salon: appointments, consultants, sparkling wine, plushy couches. Theoretically, it helps them provide you with a useful experience with a consultant. For the best treatment, book an appointment (a week out is usually sufficient).
2) The vast majority of the wedding gowns are between $ 500-​$ 2000. This makes it an attractive price point for many brides. Is it a fair price? That depends. Most of the fabrics are synthetic. (I’m not sure I saw any that weren’t polyester or poly-​silk or similar.) Many of the dresses by their very designs are less structured, have fewer layers, probably without boning, and it seemed that only a handful had trains (around chapel length). All of these things can affect the overall quality of the dress and how it lays on your body (structure is your friend!). I do believe the Anthro markup still exists here because of what you would typically see in a wedding gown at a similar price point by another designer. It does not make the gowns intrinsically good/​bad as long as you are aware of other options in your price point.
3) This store is mostly for the bride who is looking for one of the following in her gown: romantic, vintage, dreamy, floaty, elegant. There’s lots of tulle and simple silhouettes; many of these would be fantastic options for destination or outdoor weddings (they weigh less than a lot of gowns). Almost all of them were ivory or blush. Because there is such a lack of «diamond white» you may not realize this at the time, BUT if a brighter white is important to you this may not be your place.
4) Turnaround time is incredibly short — like 2 weeks if the gown is in stock! They are made ready to wear, so I think they just make a bunch and then when they’re out, they’re out (as opposed to them doing size runs and it taking 3 – 6 months from order). Great for a bride on a tighter schedule.
5) Consider how they will hold up if you want to pass your gown to your daughter. Some would probably be okay; others, not so much.
Our appointment went well. I thought the consultant was very professional and had already pulled the gown my friend was interested in, as well as asked which others she had seen that piqued her interest. Once she got an idea of the style she was aiming for, she also suggested some other gowns (one of the best things about consultants!). My friend tried on about 6 dresses — I think that’s about why you can expect from a one hour appointment (could maybe squeeze out 7 – 8 if you’re very decisive). They don’t take that long to get into and out of, so that helps.
One of my bridesmaids’ dresses came from BHLDN, and she was very happy with it (they all picked their own from various stores). But the average bridesmaid dress prices are higher: $ 200-​$ 400. Yikes.
The store also has a lovely selection of blingy sashes, beautiful accessories, and some «party» items that kinda looked like they all came from etsy and Pinterest. (I think it’s worth the extra step to go through Etsy… you are supporting an individual artist that way.)
All in all, this is my advice to brides: don’t make it your only stop, if only so that you have something to compare it to. Look through their selection online because if they aren’t your style, you’ll know. Please try not to make us ‘maids order a pricey dress. And if you happen to find The One at BHLDN, go for it!

Made the 6 hour trip to BHLDN with my mom and it was SO incredibly worth every mile. I found the dress of my dreams! The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the dresses. Paige was my stylist and was amazing!

Took forty five minutes for me to walk in and simply purchase a dress that I had already decided on. Apparently only one person can check out and there’s also just an overly complicated process for making purchases. There were two women helping me — one not available and the other incorrectly imputed my information causing further delay. All absent other customers.
On top of that, they did not honor a citywide fundraising promotion they opted to be included in that I paid to participate in to get a dress in the store. Furthermore, on a dress that on my opinion, isn’t carried in the store, simply because the material ravels too easily. They have a sample only and you can see it wears quickly. Beautiful dress but it’s just not the best material.
Overall left very turned off to. Shame. I’ve been an admirer of their items from catalogue for a long time but I. Person experience doesn’t nearly meet enthusiasm.

Such a joke, I get that you need a reservation to try on the wedding gowns but I don’t understand how you will make some one wait at least 20 minutes to try On a robe. There should be a separate area to try on the other ready to wear items you carry. Even after I was told I could try it on over my clothes, another employee complained that I was in a reserved area while trying to see how the robe fit in the near by mirror. Total lack of accommodating service at this store. And it is a shame since they are the only store around that carries pretty plum robes. I would rather buy on line than be made to feel unwelcome in this store.

I had an appointment here yesterday with «Becky» and left pleased with my BHLDN experience. I already have my wedding dress but made a «bridesmaid appointment» since I wanted to try on some of their «Reception» dresses and knew I’d have to take up one of their dressing rooms. I arrived on time and was taken back to my dressing room shortly. «Becky» already had my dresses ready for my in my room and was quick at switching out sizes that didn’t fit. The ordering portion of our visit took a little bit of time since you have to hand write out all of your ordering/​billing info but I did learn that if you place an order thru the store, you don’t have to pay for shipping which is awesome in my book since we live in Dallas. I left pretty happy with my experience here and would recommend this place to any bride/​bridesmaid!

Terrible service. I went in with two of my bridesmaids to try on dresses for them and after being in the fitting room for FIVE minutes the manager told us we need to hurry up because there was a line! She was rude about it. After we were done nobody asked us what we thought of the dresses or tried to help us in case we wanted to order. which we were intending to do! It was a very dissappointing experience and I really hope the Houston bhldn replaces their staff SOON!

This is a review for BHLDN support and its online order service, not this particular store. I had such a negative experience with BHLDN support that I feel compelled to share this review on all of BHLDN’s locations. This experience managed to turn a loyal customer into a very angry person wanting to clear steer of BHLDN. Even Comcast support was more tolerable.
I have been a happy customer with BHLDN for a couple of years. Some of their items were a bit pricey for the quality, but overall they had some cute stuff. However, that changed after BHLDN support’s inability to resolve a simple issue. If I can give BHLDN zero star I’d do so. Order from them if you want to deal with incompetence. If you’re planning a wedding, RUN FAR FAR AWAY and save yourself a headache.
I ordered a few pair of earrings from BHLDN and someone I was sent 1 earring instead of a pair. Let’s say I ordered earrings A, B and C.
July 6: I received earring A. It has 1 earring instead of the pair of I was expecting. I called BHLDN immediately to let them know there was only 1 earring. The support rep on the phone was pleasant enough and said she’d submit a case and I can expect a resolution within 48 hours.
July 7: I receive a generic email from BHLDN that they’re «currently checking our stock to ensure we can send you a replacement that is without issue.»
July 10: I send an email to email to see what’s going on with EARRING A. Earring A was available for sale on BHLDN’s website
July 13: BHLDN rep writes back «Thank you for reaching out to us. I am sorry to hear that you received the wrong item. We are currently reviewing our inventory to ensure that you are not sent the wrong item again.»
This was not what I told the rep on the phone or in my email on July 10
July ¹³⁄₁₄: I write back to inform BHLDN that the issue (again for the 3^rd time) is that only 1 of earring A (rather than the pair) was sent.
July 16: BHLDN writes that earring B is out of stock. I wonder where earring B came from considering all my emails clearly said earring A, but I write back AGAIN that the problem was earring A
July 17: Two weeks later I’m pretty tired of the back and forth email and it taking TWO WEEKS when I was originally promised resolution within 24 hours. I call BHLDN for the 2^nd time and informed BHLDN again that I was sent 1 earring for earring A. Support rep informs me that a resolution is forthcoming within 24 hours.
July 18: BHLDN writes «Thank you for your email. I’m sorry for the confusion, I have reached out to the proper department to resolve this issue. Please allow 24 – 48 business hours for a resolution.»
July 20: No update so I called BHLDN for what is hopefully the last time and demanded a refund b/​c wtf am I supposed to do with 1 earring? I liked the earrings and was trying to be patient but this is absolutely ridiculous. Despite quite liking the one earring I received it did not look like anyone cared enough to resolve the actual issue I described. Btw those earrings are still for sale on their website so they’re clearly stocked or have expectation for it to be stock.

The store employees are not very helpful or knowledgable of their own merchandise or policies.
I have walked in several times and it seems no one is available to help you even though there are about 4 associates on the floor working.
I was ignored several times and was even at one point walking around with several items in my arms to try on and I had to find and ask two different people to try the items on.
When I was finished, I tried ordering an item and it seemed like such a huge chore for them.
I later revived the item in the mail and called to ask about the return policy in the off chance I wanted to exchange for a different size and I received different answers on return policy… Which is it? Is it 30 days from when it was ordered? 30 days from when it was shipped?
This store is great but more knowledgable sales associates couldn’t hurt.

I worked here when it first opened many many years ago for a brief time (retail was NOT for me). And although my eyes couldn’t stop looking at everything, I don’t think I would choose to buy my gown from here. When it comes down to it, the selection is small in store with other options online. I’m not married or engaged but I have to imagine that when looking for a wedding dress the bride doesn’t want to pre select the gowns she’s interested in online. I want to be able to look at everything in person and then decide what I want to try on. Also, most of their gowns look similar. They have more of a hippy, backyard wedding feel. On the other hand, I think they have a good selection of dresses for a cocktail dinner or even a bridesmaid. They seem to have more in store options to choose from. Don’t get me wrong though, the store is decorated to the hilt. It is like stepping into a fantasy wedding land.

I came in expecting great things from BHLDN and boy did they deliver! My bridal appointment with Amy was AMAZING. She made me feel so comfortable. And she provided useful suggestions and tips. I can’t recommend her enough!!!
Don’t be scared off by some of the prices. BHLDN has beautiful dresses in all price ranges for a variety of size. I highly recommend checking them out.

Bhldn is a beautiful place with amazing dresses however I did not feel much like a bride in this place. I love the dresses in Bhldn and I was almost certain I would find my dress there, however my experience there was awful. I was treated more like a shopper than a bride. I made an appointment, which could only be an hour long, and I felt rushed throughout the entire thing. I had no time to fully consider my options and ended up purchasing a dress from another store. Also, the Bhldn dressing rooms were cramped with only a party of 4. The dress consultant I had was not personal nor helpful. She kept being me dresses that were the opposites of my desires.
All in all, I did not like my experience in this store.

This was my first time trying on dresses and let me say that I BHLDN made my experience absolutely wonderful! Katie was my stylist and she really listened to what I wanted and was very honest and understanding about my ‘yes’ and ‘no’ dresses. Currently, I’m torn between two at BHLDN; she helped me understand the pros and cons of each dress and told me not to make a hasty decision and to go look and try on other places if I needed to and that the dresses will be there if I decide to come back. I feel like that is a very mature way to handle a customer; I’ve been to other bridal appointments with friends at pushy places and I have avoided those businesses because of that. Also, this place is great for cute wedding décor/​accessories and beautiful jewelry! I absolutely loved my experience and could not ask for more from a wedding gown shop!

I ended up visiting five bridal dress shops in Houston in the past month or so and this was the first one I visited, perhaps because I am such a huge Anthro. fan or because BHLDN being a little different than other bridal shops seemed less intimidating to start my shopping at!
I had actually stopped in to BHLDN two times prior to my wedding appointment.
Visit 1: The first was about a year ago (long engagement) and I actually just asked a girl if I could see a dress that I’d be eyeing online. I wanted to see what it looked like in person and did not even ask to try it on. She was incredibly rude and told me to make an appointment online to try on dresses, but ended up reluctantly showing me and I looked at the dress for about 10 seconds. I was annoyed at the time and was considering calling the manager or writing a negative review, but I am happy to report my other three visits have been so much better!
Visit 2: All of my bridesmaids live out of town, so when one of them was in town in December we popped into BHLDN again with no appointment (we were already in the area) to have her try on some bridesmaid dresses. We did not get a lot of attention, but were given freedom to browse which is my preference. Once my friend was trying on dresses, associates offered her heels and help and we had a fun afternoon in the store!
Visit 3: I made an appointment online to finally try on some dresses for me! They prefer you to make appointments online and e-​mail you to confirm a couple times — that was a little odd — once is enough, but no big deal. I went on a weekday evening and all of the employees in the front room where so welcoming and friendly — yay! big change from my very first visit. Anna was my consultant and she was very enthusiastic and friendly, she put me at ease immediately. I tried on a ton of dresses and loved one of her suggestions. I was honest with her that I was going other places that week to try on dresses and I loved Anna’s honesty in return. She agreed that I should go see what’s out there and return if I want to buy the dress I liked at BHLDN. She noted the nature of the dresses there and ordering process meant that most dresses could be ordered and would arrive within a couple weeks unlike the process at most other gown stores. She also said if I did not purchase a gown from them to be sure to return to shop for accessories. Overall it was a great experience. I would recommend this shop to brides who are looking for something unique, not cookie cutter, which is what I wanted. Of course some would say some of these dresses are not «bridal» enough, but not everyone wants the big princess ballgown. You will know if you want to visit this shop by browsing their website. As a constantly thirsty person, I feel the need to praise BHLDN for offering me water or champagne. This was the only store of the five I visited that did so!
Visit 4: I didn’t end up buying the gown I loved from my visit a few weeks ago and ordered a gown from elsewhere, but I did return to browse for accessories. Again, the girl who was helping me was very friendly and accommodating. She opened up the drawers of jewelry for me with her key, walked me to a chair and mirror to try them all on, directed me towards sashes, and talked to me about earrings I had seen online that they did not have in store. She said I could order them in the store to avoid paying shipping. Though I was disappointed that they didn’t have the ones I had seen online, there is a pair of earrings I tried on that I think I may return to purchase!
Overall the store is great! I love the overall atmosphere. I am originally from Boston and visited the Chestnut Hill BHLDN while home for the holidays and it is just a corner of the Anthropologie. Brides, I recommend at least walking into BHLDN to browse accessories and get ideas even if their gowns are not what you have been dreaming of!

Gorgeous bridal apparel and accessories for the big day. The store is clean, crisp and well lit. A tad pricey for the bridal gowns/​dresses, which you cannot try on unless you reserve online in advanced. They will not make a reservation for you over the phone, so make sure your gma knows how to get online if shes planning a dress fitting for ya. The dresses are beautifully understated and modern in comparison to traditional bridal salons. Totally wearable and approachable, if styles and sizes are available. They dont make the dress for you based on measurements and do not offer alterations as part of the dress purchase. Bridesmaid dresses could be a good option, along with lingerie, reception décor, bridal belts, jewelry, hair accessories and stationary. The staff is super professional and helpful. There was always someone around to answer my questions and not in that stalking you around the store-​way!

BHLDN is sooooo dreamy. This is definitely a place for the more «modern» bride. This is Anthro’s bridal store, and they have a collection of delicate, bold, dreamy, and girly gowns that really make a bride smile. BHLDN is a smaller bridal store with a more narrow selection of dresses. Although they have a smaller selection, they are absolutely gorgeous. They also carry a gorgeous array of dresses for bridesmaids, mothers, and reception dresses ranging in colors from pretty blues to deep grays and soft blushes. They also carry some GORGEOUS accessories for your whole bridal party. Delicate lingerie, find jewelry, headpieces, sashes, and all those pretty details that make you shine.
When I got engaged, this was the first place I went to look for dresses. I set up a meeting, which they give you a private room with your guest and a stylist. Although I’m sure this is a wonderful experience for so many ladies, I had a kind of rough time. I felt pretty rushed by my stylist, and I felt as though she didn’t let me explore enough of their dresses. You have to find dresses online to try on before you actually see them in store. So you definitely don’t get to «look» as much. I also felt as though she wasn’t really getting my style and recommended a lot of dresses that were completely unflattering. I ended up not getting my dress here, but don’t let one experience discourage you. Just my take! They could just use some improvement in the customer service area of their store.
They also have a great little section for wedding décor. Lots of items such as cake cutters, table décor, aisle + ceremony décor, as well as cards and signs. So many pretty things to look at! I will say, it is pretty expensive. Plan to spend a pretty penny.

I never knew about this story until my fiancé was passing by and saw it was a bridal Store! He went in to look around and met with the amazing staff they assisted him by answering his question and taking photos of the dresses on his phone then text them to me. Fell in love with the dresses and knew I had to go there to make an appointment! Ms. Ana was very helpful and so cheerful and excited to meet me, made an appointment for later that week. The day of my apportionment Savanah was my bridal consultant and hands down she is so awesome!!! and knows so much about the gowns she gave me so much input about the dresses and I had such a great time trying on the dresses, i felt so beautiful and this was the best bridal Store I have been to. she help me narrow it down to 2 dresses, can’t wait to see which one I pick!
she truly has a passion for job! I highly recommend her and Ana!

Update to the update (this is turning into quite the saga): After the crazy customer service experience described below, I decided to call BHLDN Houston to complain to a manager there. Tiffany was incredibly helpful and somehow magically made a dress appear even though they are backordered! The lesson for me was that the Houston store is great while the corporate headquarters/​main customer service is dreadful. And the other lesson was that it pays off to keep complaining after a bad experience. Whew! Thank you Tiffany for saving the day.

While my in-​store experience at BHLDN was great, the customer service at their headquarters has been an absolute nightmare and I’m now regretting my choice to shop here. Here’s what happened:
September: I buy the (beautiful, perfect, amazing) dress in-​store. It’s backordered, and I’m told it will ship by November.
November: I notice I haven’t received any emails from BHLDN. Maybe they’ve got my email wrong? I call, asking to change the email address on the account, only to be told, «Unfortunately we can’t do that.»
December: I call to see if the dress has come in. They tell me my order has been canceled! What?! I changed credit cards in November, and when the old card was declined, they just canceled the order without contacting me! (Well, probably they emailed the wrong address that I had tried so hard to get fixed.) Now the dress is backordered *again* and I won’t get it until early March, just one month before my wedding. That will make alterations difficult.
Only after I pleaded and complained did they agree to a 10% discount and expedited shipping, but at this point, I’ve lost all trust in this brand and I’m thinking I might even need a backup dress in case they screw up again. I can’t in good faith recommend BHLDN at this point.

I am open to the possibility that I may be broken. There’s has been nothing entirely exciting or gleeful about wedding planning thus far. The movies all lied. This is a miserably stressful experience and I just know I’m going to trip on my ginormous wedding dress and face onto my face at least twice. The only positive aspect of all of this is the prospect of moving into a larger place, which would accommodate for at least two or six more cats (apparently, my cats are too skittish to be included in my actual wedding ceremony and reception, but with that rationale, I should perhaps be excluded as well, hrmph!), perhaps a dog or two. Whoops, I mean start a beautiful family with my wonderful fiancé. .. right…
That being said, yay for BHLDN. I love online shopping, A LOT. I can’t be bothered to physically gather up garments from clothing racks and to try them on because there’s a significant possibility that I’m going to come home and change my mind anyway. Retailers probably hate me, but hey, they aren’t blameless with their deceptively flattering lighting and angled mirrors! I love all BHLDN things, especially the beautifully delicate accessories and jewelry handmade in the USA and Italy. I don’t love the original price of such things as much, so whenever BHLDN has an online sale, I kind of go crazy. It’s borderline embarrassing. Thankfully this store is very wonderful about processing returns from online orders. Just be conscientious to return the item in new condition so it can be resold at the store.
As much as I adore the wedding dresses on models online and on the store’s mannequins, I only tried on one and wasn’t much a fan of it. You’re supposed to make appointment for trying on dresses, but a sweet employee was able to squeeze me in between appointments. Most, if not all of BHLDN’s dresses are manufactured in China and I don’t believe you customize any details upon ordering the dress. The dresses tend to have a bohemian and/​or vintage-​y type feel and are very light, in that most seem to be designed with efficient fabric use in mind. I thought that was a quality I could appreciate, being that I’m um, clumsy and usually no nonsense about my attire. Turns out I actually yearned for something a tad more substantial in construction and appearance for my wedding day — yeah I don’t know who I am sometimes, go figure. I am fond of their other special occasion dresses, as I have two of them (deeply-​discounted online scores of course!) and my wedding shoes were a BHLDN find.
In my experience, a lot of the dress styles are best suited to ladies with a more modest bust measurements. A couple of my more «blessed» friends have expressed frustration with finding suitable dresses at BHLDN. Sometimes it pays to having the torso of a prepubescent girl, and by that I mean very very rarely. .. like in this one case. But anyway.

I had a very odd experience trying on wedding dresses at BHLDN. My impression is that most of the brides who come through there have seen one specific dress online that they’ve fallen in love with and just want to try it on to make sure it’s the one. I was not that bride. I was checking out several stores and wanted to see what BHLDN might have to offer. The sales person did not really seem prepared to deal with this type of client, and sort of seemed annoyed about it.
We arrived at my appointment early and chatted with the employees in the front of the store about bridesmaid dresses. They were very nice and helpful and my Matron of Honor tried on the Annabelle dress — the convertible dress that can be worn dozens of different ways. They had some really cute and modern bridesmaid options.
When it was time for my wedding dress appointment, the saleswoman had pulled a few samples of the dresses I emailed ahead of time. (Sidenote: to even make an appointment you have to email a list of styles you are interested in from the website.) Apparently several of the styles I sent over had been discontinued or were not available. She did not suggest additional styles that I might like, just brought out the three or four that they had available in my size.
Again, it was just all very odd. At every other store I went to they were very attentive and helped me into and out of dresses and made a lot of suggestions about what else I might want. At BHLDN she brought in the few dresses I had specifically asked about and then kind of left me there to try them on myself. Note that only one appointment is happening at a time, so I’m not sure where she went when she left. When I specifically asked about other styles she might recommend based on these, she seemed surprised that I would ask that and told me I was welcome to go look for myself. It just seemed like she put in the minimum amount of effort required to get us in and out. Maybe that’s not the worst thing, it’s just not at all what I expected.
Also a sidenote: BHLDN has some very cute dresses for under $ 1,000. But they also have dresses for $ 3,000 and $ 4,000 that just didn’t seem very well made. Most bridal dresses I found other places in that price range were priced that way because of elaborate details or impeccable construction… these dresses didn’t have much structure and seemed quite expensive for what they were. In my opinion.
The whole thing just didn’t seem like the type of experience you would have in a high end shop. The dresses, the service, everything didn’t hold up to the hype for me.
To end a positive note — there are a few situations where I would recommend checking out BHLDN:
1) The bridesmaid dresses and party dresses (rehearsal dinner, bridal shower, etc.) are very cute.
2) If you’ve found a dress on their website that you absolutely love and must try on, come in to try that specific dress on.
3) From what I could tell the dresses are actually in stock or available immediately online in several different sizes and don’t need to be special ordered. So if you are on a tight schedule, you can probably get something very quickly. This also means that if you fall in love with something there, there is added pressure to order it quickly before it sells out and is no longer available.
