Capone’s Oven & Bar

I haven’t actually been ehere to have drinks or sit down and eat, so I can’t comment on the inside or drinks or atmosphere (though the place is ALWAYS packed when I go here and the music is bumpin), but their pizza albeit pricey is the best dang pizza I’ve found in the loop. They have a ton of options and I can’t even begin to comment on all of them, but even their plain pepperoni is to die for. Perfectly crisp crust and pepperoni, cheese is melted and browned just a tinge, sauce is delicious. Serioysly the best pizza I’ve found in Houston so far.

I think it was already mentioned that the pizza is pretty good. It is pretty good. It is not the best, but it’s better than average, too.
However, it is a pain like you wouldn’t believe to order over the phone. The staff can ever hear what you’re saying on the phone. What should only take a minute to place an order, you land up spending upwards of 5 minutes (usually about 7, no joke). There have been times where we just don’t place an order here because of how frustrating it is to place an order over the phone, «eh, I don’t really feel like screaming my order over and over for 10 minutes». Staff is super duper nice and apologetic for how difficult it is to order, but at the same time, nothing seems to have been done to fix it in the past 3 weeks.

came here few weeks ago with my coworker. I love the relaxing atmosphere with live background music. The noise level was average and did not make me felt overwhelmed. Jazz/​blue was played on that night. Loved it.
Food was fantastic! The truffle Mac n cheese was wow. Never had that good Mac n cheese in a restaurant, I never even wanted to order a Mac n cheese at an Italian restaurant. The portion was also pretty big, usually I wouldn’t be able to finish a plate like that but it was too good for me to not finish it.
Full bars with lots of wine selections with few bottled beers. It’d be great if they have some local indie beers!

Yummy!!! The Godfather and the Guzzler pizza are some of the best Houston has to offer. Combine that with a live band and a great vibe and you can’t miss!

Wonderful environment. Loved the design of the restaurant, and the live band was a nice touch. Amber was my server and did a wonderful job. I had the spaghetti and meatballs with the brownie a la mode for dessert. Both were delicious, will certainly be back.

GREAT Pizza, cool atmosphere. The small place is a great place to take a few friends for a late night pizza, and drinks. Nice vibe, good food, good people, great time.

great pizzas made with fresh ingredients, great bands on the weekends, and oh the crawfish on sunday funday! $ 25 all u can eat, and they are big and spicy! they also have a nice private lounge upstairs, that’s great for parties.

Meh… I came here with my husband after reading glowing reviews about their pizza and live band… unfortunately, I was not blown away by this place.
We came here on a Thursday night which is ½ priced off a bottle of wine night. Trying to get a deal for Thursday wine night, we tried to order 2 bottles of wine but happened to find out that both bottles we wanted were unavailable because the bar had run out. one star less for not having the wine we wanted for Thursday HALF OFF wine bottle night!!! You would think they would order extra bottles for this night alone…
Luckily our waiter was super nice and apologetic about their wine unavailability and he comped us our appetizer. For our app we got the Meatball sliders and it was good! It tasted home-​made and I would definitely recommend this dish to try!
For our entrée we shared the Guzzler’s Pizza which consisted of pepperoni, meatballs, fresh jalapeños, and extra mozzarella cheese. It tasted good but I expected their Brick Oven pizza to be crisp and thin. It was definitely thin but NOT crispy to me… it was a bit too doughy for my taste. I probably wouldn’t get pizza here again.
The band there that night was awesome! They sang fun, entertaining music and I was sad when they stopped playing at 11pm, waay too early in my opinion but I guess people go to bed early in Houston so who am I to argue that. Unfortunately, after the band stopped playing at 11pm the wait staff proceeded to put clean up the rest of the place and put all the chairs up on the tables. Such a kill joy and my husband and I felt like we were being unintentionally kicked out even though we were still enjoying the end of our meal.
The best part about this place was the secluded bathroom… took me a few embarrassing minutes to find but totally cool once you find it :)
Overall, I am willingly to come back to try the rest of the menu out (excluding the pizzas) but this place was totally disappointing in terms of entertainment and closing up at 11pm on a Thursday night even though it’s advertised on their website as being open til 2am. Guess I gotta get used to the Houston way of being «open late» meaning 11pm. Otherwise, service here was attentive and outstanding!

We are HUGE fans of Capone’s! Very loyal to this perfect establishment. They have the BEST pizza, amazing appetizers and salads and the restaurant itself is very cute! The service is always phenomenal. Danny, the owner, and his wife Meagan are extremely personable and welcoming. The live music always makes it a good time. In the cooler months the seat by the fireplace is the perfect spot for a date night or catching up w a girl friend. Awesome patio downstairs and a fun bar upstairs. Highly recommend Capones and their delicious menu! We’ve been coming since they opened and will continue to come here for MANY years! I’d also highly recommend checking out their wine special on Thurs and their steak night!

Capone’s is a great place to eat and drink! They have delicious brick oven pizza that is the best in town! We ordered the Capone’s pizza and garlic chicken and both were delicious. Great drink specials at happy hour and live music. Will be back for sure!

I’m torn on Capone’s, it has the potential to be really epic, but something was just missing for me. They had a live band on the night that we went which was cool, but not really my type of music tho (jazz would have been a nice touch). Drinks were good and food was decent but may have been my fault for ordering «two murdered birds». I will have to return and try something else. It would be nice if they had more gluten free meals too.

I love bringing old and new friends here. Not only do they have a live band, they also have some of the best brick oven pizzas in Houston. All are worth a try, especially the Stinky Chick & Steakhouse! This go around I had spaghetti and meatballs which could be my favorite dish now. Everyones portions were large but my leftover spaghetti was good for 3 additional meals. Be sure to bring money for the valet. It’s pretty much the only option when it comes to parking /​parking lot.

Capones is a great place to go out with friends. The Live music and friendly staff were great. Many patrons enjoy dancing on the dance floor and letting loose. Capones is great for pizza, lasagna and spaghetti. I made the mistake of ordering the roasted chicken. It was kind of bland and only comes with 1 side. It would be nice if your meal came with salad and bread. I should have gotten the lasagna or spaghetti.

Went on a Saturday night for date night with my husband. Good pizza. Overpriced food and drinks. $ 20 for a small pizza, $ 6 for a shiner! Live music is okay but it’s definitely for the 55+ crowed — eagles and Beatles.

Delicious pizza excellent service for a first timer I can appreciate the efficiency quality of a good place. loved the experience i would let everyone know to come for the pizza for sure.

1^st timer. Here on a Friday, live band, good beer and fantastic pizza! ordered the Big Otis and a Shiner! Valet parking $ 6 I like b’s place!

The staff is so slow. Plus they let a 3 year old dance during a live performance. Really? Good for the eardrums. the girl performing was gross like an old washed up hobo. No talent. To the owner of capones/​why? I had a great time until she brought herself on stage. Usually I love and support your live bands. Totally disgusted. Sequins fool no one. Ugh.

Anneka was great hostess, waitress and am guessing manager. Very accommodating, good humor and I think she might own the place. If she doesn’t then she needs to have some type of ownership since she tAkes the
ownership of insuring everyone leaves happy!!! Good pizza, great pizza happy hour and loved the side salad. Work on the musty smell when you walk in– once it gets busy and pizza in oven the smell goes away.

My wife and I discovered this gem last week and have been twice already. Second trip everyone welcomed us back and the amazing service began again. I can’t praise the staff at this place enough. Friendliest restaurant experience I have ever had, hands down! Manager is always involved and very attentive. The food was perfection as well and the atmosphere is just what we like, all ages, date night, large parties, and live music! Had a blast both times! Live music is almost every night, and every night after football season. Cool place with a chill vibe, great food, and live music. Can’t go wrong! Check it out…

Capone’s has great food and staff. Their pizza cooked in a wood burning oven is exceptional. They also have live music 7 days a weeknight a nice sized dance floor and an awesome outdoor area upstairs great for large groups. Parking is valet only.

I came here on a Thursday night for a date & was blown away. How did I not know this place existed in Houston?! Thursday is ½ price bottle of wine. Live music but it wasn’t so loud that you couldn’t enjoy conversation. Pizza is amazing & I don’t think you can go wrong ordering any of them. I’m not a huge spinach artichoke dip person but they have hands down the best I’ve ever had!
This place is great if you just want a hang out and enjoy company, eat and drink, or just eat.
Parking is limited and valet is 6 $

I absolutely love this place! Can be great for intimate, cozy dinner for two or great time with a large group of friends. The red sauce is amazing and reminds me of back home. The pizza is good, but it is a flat crust pizza not Neopolitan style pizza as I had thought. It’s still very good!
Also, valet was $ 6 and very reasonable. There isn’t a lot of parking in that area so make sure to bring cash to park.
Finally, the band on Saturday night was amazing! They usually start around 7:30 or 8. Don’t miss it!

I really like the pizza at this place, as well as the atmosphere. I recommend this place to anyone whose looking for some good pizza.

If you are looking for a great lunch deal, Capones is perfect. Half of any of their specialty pizza with a salad for $ 10! It’s enough for two people to share. I loved the old location off Westheimer but the inside of this one is just as nice and the outside patio seems bigger. My favorite thing is the entrance to the bathroom (weird, I know). Good low key type spot. Food is not out of this world but consistent and failry priced. In this area, that’s a major plus. So far, I’ve had a few of their pizzas, the half chicken, pork chops, and their steak special (Wednesdays: 8oz bacon wrapped filet with two sides for $ 20). Non have disappointed. It is my «I’m too lazy to get in my car and drive but don’t want to eat at the Hobbit this time» spot. Good place to throw back a few cold drinks and catch up with old buds or make new ones. Plus, the bartenders are pretty good.

Capone’s is great for intimate dinners and fun with friends. They have a wood fired pizza oven and the best pizzas. I had the chicken alfredo pizza, and it was to die for. The restrooms are behind hidden bookshelves, there is live music, and the staff is ultra nice.
This new location was a good choice. Before, it was situated near the Galleria but now it’s next to the Momentum dealership on Richmond in River Oaks. I love the new space. It’s wide open, but still intimate, with a darker ambiance. The bar is larger, and the stage makes you feel more like a private concert than random people performing at a restaurant.
WARNING: It shares a parking lot with two other establishments and valet was the only alternative to street parking. We parked on the street behind the restaurant, but if there is a crowd, get there a little earlier to minimize the walk. (The place is still worth it)

LOVE Capone’s. I heard such amazing things before realizing that the restaurant was walking distance from my job. We stopped in for lunch and were greeted immediately. The restaurant has an amazing feel to it – 1920-​esque and is very cozy. The service was great, friendly, and quick.
The pizza and salad combo is $ 10, and you have your choice of any ½ pizza and a half house, caesar, or greek salad. The portions were great, and you seriously can’t beat the price, especially for a good meal in the Upper Kirby area.
We also had the garlic bread which was great! I’m dying to try the truffle mac n’ cheese.

Love Capones. They have a great atmosphere and great food. Their pizza is a must. We had the Neapolitan pizza last time and it was extremely good. You really can’t go wrong with goat cheese. Stop by and give it a try!

I’m torn about this place. The pizza was good, I would absolutely eat it again. But the people I mean…
We had a girls dinner here on a Thursday night around 8 thinking it would be fun with the live band and all that but the crowd is just too bizarre for me to feel comfortable going back again. We got straight up stared at by old men, had pictures taken of us just the creepiest all around all night (not being vain, any woman under the age of 40 would’ve been creeped on). The rest of the crowd was a mixture of older couples and groups.
That being said, the service was great and the food was good but I’m not ever going back at night if that is the crowd to expect.

I remember the old Capones before they had to move. I think this location will better serve its concept. Between the cozy fireplace and spacious dining to the lounge that converts into a dance floor for those nights when the music is bumpin.
I’ve had several items from their menu.
— The Artichoke dip is so addictive you would think there is some hardcore narcotic making patrons completely powerless and wanting more and more.
— Stuffed Peppadews, if you had more than a few don’t feel judged because chances are the table will probably order another one.
— All the pizzas are great. The wood fired brick oven makes that crust consistently amazing. Between the ingredients and the price it would be one of the more price competitive pizza pies in the Upper Kirby area. The Capone’s and the Big Otis are my pizza favorites.
Do find your way upstairs to the more quiet part of the place. There is another bar up there with an intimate balcony that has seating. Also check out the big screen tv with live feed of the dance floor… to laugh at your friends making fools of themselves on the dance floor!
Service has always been good to me and the people I bring. Call ahead and find out what is going on with the music. It is very much a difference in ambiance.

Tried to give this place another try after 1 good experience, but we were ignored for the 2^nd time and won’t be back. The location itself is beautiful and cozy, but the service needs some serious work. We were greeted by what i believe to be a server; acknowledged by the bartender who was cleaning her empty bar. We were told to seat ourselves and no one ever came to our table. The one good experience we had; we happened to be joined by our white friends. I hate to make it that way but both my husband and I are in the industry and perception is reality. Would have loved to be regulars of this place but no…

They are now open in their new location for the second day and it was fabulous. The last review must have been when the old location was closing. Unfortunately they got booted out of their old spot as did all the tenants to be bulldozed down to make way of the River Oaks District coming in next to Highland Village. Sad to see all those landmarks go.
Our fav pizza, The Godfather was so good and be patient they are on day 2 of serving. You have to see this gorgeous place. We watched the playoff game there and tv’s were everywhere. They have got it down! We just thought we missed the old Capone’s. Live music coming soon. It’s a great sports bar. Soon to be dog friendly outside. What more could you want?
