Coco Crepes, Waffles & Coffee

Their crepes are amazing! My favorites are the cheesecake and raspberry crepes. This location has more parking than the one on Grey St. If you are looking for some good coffee with a crêpe, coco crepes is the spot!

This place was the bomb diggity!!! My friend and I were actually in an über headed to a nearby coffee shop but on the way there, I saw the sign for crepes and waffles and coffee! What more could you ask for? So when we got dropped off at the coffee shop we were originally planning on going to, we realized that it was actually super lame… as in not poppin’ AT ALL. It was super quiet, people were on their laptops and it was one dude serving coffee that didn’t look exciting at all. We were torn between staying here or walking through the pouring rain to get to Coco Crepes.
Finally, we decided to ditch this place and venture out into the stormy weather. We walked and walked and crossed streets and finally, we arrived at the glorious crêpe haven! We walked in and were immediately greeted by the friendly man at the counter. The menu was incredible… we couldn’t decide on what to get because everything sounded so delicious! The cashier was extremely helpful because I had trouble deciding which gelato flavor I wanted. He took the time to let me sample the tiramisu, even though he had a long line of customers. He was extremely patient and made my experience even more enjoyable.
I ended up getting the Waffle Gelato Sandwich (I chose the tiramisu gelato) and oh my goodness, the first bite I took was just WOW! This was by far the best waffle gelato combo I have ever had! IT WAS INCREDIBLE! I would totally go back there right now if I could! I can’t stop thinking of how amazing that waffle tasted. It was presented beautifully and the taste was spot on! It was truly an awesome combination with the tiramisu. I’m so glad I picked that flavor. I would’ve stayed there forever, but I had a flight to catch. Btw, super fast service. I think I only waited 5 minutes before I received my order. They also have water cups in case you’re thirsty.
If you’re ever in the area, you MUST try this place! It surely will not disappoint!

This is a cute little spot with friendly staff! They have tables and chairs outside and it’s nice to enjoy your crepes outside on a beautiful weather.
My friend and I ordered Smoked salmon crêpe and Moroccan sausage. They were very flavorful, but I wish they had more veggies in them. I really enjoyed the capers in the Smoked salmon crepes. There was some interesting flavor on the sauce on top of the Moroccan sausage!
We also ordered some unique drinks. I got Fresh moroccan mint tea and it was very refreshing! They put fresh mint leaves in my tea! My friend ordered peach lemonade and we both thought it was a bit too sweet.
I want to go back and try their sweet crepes and coffee next time!

I visited Coco Crêpes last weekend, and I could not have been happier with the food and service! Their menu has a lot of variety when it comes to the crêpes. I ordered the banana fosters crêpe with their chai tea latte. Both items were delicious! They were out of the vanilla gelato that accompanies the crêpe order, but the staff was very apologetic. They kindly gave me samples of other gelato flavors available for me to choose from. I chose their dulce de leche flavor and was very happy with my choice. In addition to bringing out the dulce de leche, they gave me 3 extra gelato flavors, complimentary. I love that the location is in a quieter part of rice village making it a wonderful place to relax while dining!

Good place for brunch and late nite bite. We ordered the chocolate waffle and egg w spinach bacon waffle. Both were good. The bacon waffle was a little bit spicy but definitely bearable. Was a little disappointed with the drinks. The taste was okay but the container looked cheap.

I come here regularly if i’m craving for a sweet caffeine boost or crepes. Overall, I love this place. The service is super nice, the atmosphere is great (and there’s free wifi so it’s a good place to study or meet up with friends), and it’s a very cozy and cute café. Don’t forget to ask for their loyalty card!
First, the drinks: I usually get the Coco’s Addiction coffee– ridiculously smooth and sweet but not overly sweet. It’s more caffeinated than a normal ice coffee from Starbucks which is perfect for me! Their caramel macchiata was a bit too sweet in my opinion, but still good. The Espresso Cococinno took awhile to be made (it took them 15 – 20 minutes! luckily, i wasn’t in a rush), but it was decently good. Their teas are also good, but served too hot, so you have to wait to let it cool a bit.
Next, the crepes and waffles: their crepes are super cute! They’re usually square shaped and from my experience, they have a lot of filling. The Chicken and Spinach crêpe was very filling and I would definitely get it again. Regarding the waffles, I’ve had the sugar waffle and waffle gelato sandwich. They’re waffles are very aesthetically pleasing but taste pretty normal. As for the waffle gelato sandwich, I got it to go, which in hindsight was not the best idea. The gelato was melting really quickly on the warm waffles, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you want to get it for pictures (getting the waffles and gelato separately is much better!)
Lastly, the gelato: Sooooooo good! Like most gelato places, they let you try the flavors before you commit, so there’s really no risk. Try them all, buy them all!

After dinner at a restaurant close by, we decided on not getting dessert there, but come here for dessert and coffee. We are so full, we thought we were going to share, but there was too many choices that we ordered more than we should have. It’s a good problem to have when you have leftovers. The restaurant is in the Rice Village and parking may be a problem if it’s busy.
I ordered the crêpe almondine, which was a crêpe with Nutella and roasted almonds. It was absolutely amazing. I can’t write anything bad about it. I also had a vanilla cococino, which is basically a Frappuccino with them throwing in there namesake. Clever I tell you. My wife ordered the banana and cinnamon apple crêpe. She likes to order the plain crêpe with everything on the side. It’s also is served with vanilla custard and caramel sauce. The apples were ok, but all the other toppings with the crêpe were delicious. She said she would create here crêpe next time and not do the cinnamon apples. My daughter ordered the Nutella crêpe which was mine minus the almonds. My son ordered a chocolate cheesecake which was nice and rich, so we could only barely put a dent in it before we needed packed it to go.
Coco’s is a nice spot to sit and have a conversation over dessert and coffee. If you want to have an all around meal, they also have many savory options as well.

Pretty fantastic find here in the university area. A wide selection of affordable crepes (both savory and sweet) and excellent hours to boot.
Espresso is decent, but way too much whip cream in the con pana. Nothing a spoon didn’t fix but dial it back a bit and we can be good friends.

For a place with the word crepes in the name, this place is just okay for me.
There’s tons of parking and the restaurant is beautiful inside. The outdoor tables, however, have very little room between them, and another party had to politely climb around us to get to their seats to avoid stepping on parked cars. Not a big deal, but we also had to remind the waiter about our drinks (which were waters).
I like the diversity in the menu. If you’re not in the mood for crepes, the many other baked goods, waffles, and drinks should be able to satisfy. I also like that they have crepes I hadn’t heard of. Whole wheat and gluten free crêpe optiona are a nice touch as well. I ordered the Moroccan sausage (caramelized onions, mozzarella, mushroom, sun-​dried tomato, pesto), and was super excited for the symphony of flavors. It was good and well worth the $ 6.95, but it wasn’t absolutely ground-​breaking. For the record, the sausage was nothing special, I barely got any caramelized onions, and the real stars were the mozzarella and mushrooms. Also, perhaps order a side or a drink because the crepes were a little small compared to others I’ve had. Maybe I’m a chubster, but I was hoping to make a real meal out of it.
Maybe the experience at the original Coco is different and I need to give them a shot, but as far as crepes in Rice Village, there’s another creperie a few blocks over that has easily won this battle. Sorry, Coco.

I’m a huge fan of Coco! Everyone compares it to Sweet Paris (which is understandable since it is kind of unusual to have two crêpe places so close to each other), and I would have to say that while I think Sweet Paris probably has better quality crepes, Coco is cheaper and has TONS of flavors, which I love! They also have lots of other options — sandwiches, soups, salads, gelato — so unlike Sweet Paris you don’t have to just come for the crepes.
I ordered the coconut crêpe, a drip coffee, and tomato soup (really random combination, I know… sometimes you’ve just gotta go with what your stomach wants). The coconut crêpe was so tasty and I devoured it in all of like two minutes. It wasn’t super filling and I thought it could have used some sort of additional filling (the coconut crème feeling was delicious but that was all there was in it) just to make it a little more substantial. But otherwise I have no complaints about the crêpe! The coffee was great as well, and the tomato soup was really creamy, topped with cheese and croutons — exactly what I’d wanted!
If you’re looking for a place to hang out for a bit, I would come here over Sweet Paris. The only reason why I didn’t give Sweet Paris ⁵⁄₅ stars was because I’m not a huge fan of their loud, busy ambiance, but Coco was a great place to hang out and work on my last final exam essay with a couple friends. We came on one of those wonderful random 80 degree December days, so Coco had all the doors open in the restaurant. It made for the most perfect ambiance — it was light, breezy, and lit fully by the natural light. I would absolutely come back on a nice day to hang out or work on homework with a cup of coffee, and maybe even one of their gelato waffle sandwiches!

Like many others I frequent the other location on west gray. This is a real nice spot to chill or study. However, they are stingier with their ingredients at this location. Because of this I would not recommend getting a salmon panini it’s really not worth the 8 bucks. The crêpe almondine is really good as a very sweet treat.
The music can be a bit on the louder side if you do decide to study here, but it’s nothing a pair of headphones can handle.
Gluten avoiding folks:
They do have (good tasting) gluten free crepes, but no gluten free option for their paninis yet.
And sorry Ray, but these crepes ARE BETTER than the crepes across the street. Raawrr.

I’m never going back to Sweet Paris Creperie ever again after this delicious visit to Cocos in the village! There was absolutely no wait and prices are comparable or even cheaper. I also like the selection much more. There are so many different options.
My friend and I couldn’t decide on a sweet or savory crêpe so we decided to get one of each and split. The goat cheese crêpe and the white chocolate raspberry crepes were to die for! If possible, they taste even better than they look when they come out from the kitchen.
I also think the service here is great and I love that it has a more comfortable vibe than other crêpe places in the Village. I will definitely be back to write papers for school or just to have a relaxing Sunday morning breakfast/​brunch after sleeping in.

Omg why haven’t I spent all my weekends at this place?!
Coco’s has some of the best crepes I’ve ever had. I got the Coco’s Classic, which was essentially peanut butter, jelly and bananas, and a hot chocolate. I got the whole wheat crêpe which I thought might hinder the taste but I couldn’t even taste the difference. The crêpe itself had the perfect amount of filling. I absolutely hate crepes that lure you into thinking there’s a lot of filling but really there’s just a blob of Nutella in the center and you’re tearing the crêpe apart for the gold. No, this crêpe had peanut butter and jelly smeared onto every inch of the crêpe but not too much that I couldn’t taste the actual crêpe. I also sampled my friend’s savory veggie crêpe, which tasted just as amazing. The hot chocolate was very average. It wasn’t rich enough for me in the sense that it was too watery but it was drinkable.
Ambiance was so-​so. Tight space so conversation was hard to make because the place was packed. Definitely not a great place for a first date but good to add some cheer to your Sundays!
The food is better than that of Sweet Paris and cheaper but SP wins at ambiance.

Gelato here is divine! I’m a no fuss kinda girl when it comes to frozen treats as I much prefer just classic flavors rather than overly dressed ice creams with toppings and syrups.
Coco’s definitely appeals to my pallet in a way that other frozen dessert joints in rice village (i.e. snowblock and cloud 10) cannot with solid gelato choices like pistachio and hazelnut or lemon. It’s perfect because they’re decadent flavors, but airy enough that I don’t feel weighed down by the sugar. Only downside? Kinda pricey…
Will return at least one more time to try the crepes! They fold them differently from their competitors down the street at sweet paris, and they top them with gelato so I HAVE to check that out.

This was my first time at this location and I will definitely be back. The food is delicious and you have the option of whole wheat and gluten free! You can also make your own crêpe if you don’t see one you would like. For my European folks, this has a Gloria Jean type of feel to it. They also have gelato and other baked goods as well.
Additionally, I have nothing but good things to say about a young man that works there. I believe he was the manager. He brought out our food and was very polite!
Five stars from me! I will definitely be back.

The Perfect Sandwich!!!
Croque Madame best and only one I have found in Houston. The perfect food. Accompanied with a cup of tomato bisque makes for the best lunch of your meaningless life.

I’ve tried both the Midtown and Washington Ave locations, and I wound up here while looking for a study spot.
Three stars for the friendly atmosphere and servers (especially the one at the register), free wifi, and great space (it’s much bigger than the Midtown restaurant). However, the Achilles heel of Coco’s is still, well, its food. Having married into a French family, I’m really picky about my crepes, and Coco’s are not exciting. They may be a Houston novelty (only facing Sweet Paris & Mélange for competition), but they’re frankly kind of bland. On my visit, then, I branched out to try their soup & sandwich selection. My chicken panini was tasty, melty, and crunchy, just how I like it… but the tomato bisque? Noooooo. The flavor was good enough, but the consistency was totally wrong. It was super viscous; I felt like I was eating away at a little tomato mountain in my bowl. It was like someone didn’t bother finishing the purée. Odd.
What’s more, the people I met later that night in the Village specifically said, «Oh yeah, the bisque is really weird, isn’t it?» I am not alone!
I thought the service was quick (ok, it was 2:00pm…) and the staff friendly. They even voluntarily helped me move my books and study things to a different table near a power outlet when I ran low.
I would come back here to study, but I think I’d just stick to the paninis and coffee. Also, good luck parking — it’s the Village. They share the lot with the other businesses in the complex.

So this place is no comparison to Paris Creperie in Rice Village, good luck competing with them.
Also the fact the manager/​owner himself overcharged me for a small gelato and then tried to tell me they were $ 6 for a small and me pointing to the menu with the correct price. Him not saying a word after me catching him trying to up charge me and making me give my credit card back to refund $ 2 something dollars instead of just buying me the entire thing was a disgrace.
Also the gluten-​free bananas foster crêpe was absolute crap, I guess I’m use to the 5 star of Paris Crêpe right across the street. Check your receipt, he didn’t even apologize or say «Oh I’m sorry I made a mistake» just acted like I was accusing him of a felony. Never again.

Since I first heard about this place I’ve been dying to check it out. Today was the day! This turned out to be a bad choice.
The restaurant is pretty small and intimate. You order at the counter and are given a number, pretty standard. First problem, the guy taking orders and payments is the same guy making all the coffee beverages. He would have to stop taking orders to make drinks. Second problem, the person cooking the orders was the food runner. Super inefficient time management.
I had the iced coffee (which was excellent) but not really worth the $ 4.95 price, and the Coconut Crêpe. According to my receipt I paid at 12:38pm and my order came at 1:04pm. That’s a total of 24 minutes. On my second bite I was surprised to find banana in the crêpe, as that wasn’t mentioned on the menu. I took it back up to the counter and it was confirmed I had been given the wrong order. The correct crêpe came at 1:15pm, 37 minutes after ordering.
The staff was very nice and apologetic about the long wait times and incorrect order. The coconut crêpe was really good. Good enough to give them another try some day. Hopefully they will have some additional staff working and won’t be so overwhelmed.
I was entertained during my extended wait time by a lady is a green skirt waiting in line. Her skirt was totally see thru and everyone in the place noticed except her and her date…
