Deogi Dog Spa & Resort

Not sure if they got a new groomer but I am mortified with the results from my maltese’s grooming today. I went here a few months ago and he came back still looking like a maltese, this time told them to give him a summer cut with with body short and just trim his face. We picked him up and he looks like a rat terrier now instead of a Maltese. I really wanted this place to work out as its in my neighborhood and I like their daycare but for now looks like we are on the search for a new groomer.

This is a review for the grooming. I dropped my dog off for the weekend and wanted him groomed prior to my return. When I picked him up, I paid and the dude went to get my little guy. As he’s handing him over to me, he said the groomer nicked him, but it was just a flesh wound. I looked at this «flesh» wound and it was a huge chunk of missing skin! She had tried to super glue it shut, it was that bad. They should’ve called me and then taken him to the vet (information I’d provided) bc as it was, I took him to the vet and was told he should’ve come right when it happened to get stitches (yes, STITCHES! That is in NO way indicative of a flesh wound or scratch). His cut was very infected and he was put on antibiotics. It looked like she actually chopped his skin off with scissors (it took a month to completely heal). I called them and they refunded the money for the vet bills as well as the grooming (bc I asked for that money back) but I am upset with how they handled it. My poor dog was there for a day and night after they sliced the crap out of him and I had no idea. Then they lied and tried to minimize the freddy kruger groom by saying it was a scratch. Not ok at all.

I feel that two stars is very generous for the service that was received. The owner was very nice, however that is the only positive I have to say about this place.
When I arrived the house smelled like pee and felt very dirty. I was quite nervous to drop off my dog, but unfortunately had no other choice. My dog stayed for only the dog daycare portion.
At 6 PM when I picked up my dog, the owner was very nice. However, my dog smelt like pee, and had stickers stuck in his paws. They were very painful for him when I had to pull them out of the pads of his paws.
I will not be going back here, unless the owner makes some major adjustments.

Rude, Rude, Rude. As soon as I walk up a lady goes outside and asks me what I need. I politely tell her that I was here to get my dog groomed. With an attitude, the woman tells me that you’re supposed to bring you’re dog in at 7 in the morning if you want the dog groomed that day.
A couple of days before that incident I went and asked about the grooming, a guy greeted me this time, I simply asked him how much it would cost to get my dog groomed and if I needed to make an appointment, he tells me that appointments are not needed and to bring my dog at anytime. Definitely not the case.
I asked the women with the attitude if I could speak to the groomer to see if she could fit my dog in for grooming. Unfortunately she couldn’t but she was more professional and friendly about it them the «receptionist»
Only reason for the 2 stars was because of the friendly groomer but other than that I will not be back.

My little pup means more to me than almost anything, except perhaps my husband, so I am super picky about who cares for her while I am away. I usually go to Dogtopia, but with some upcoming short trips and super early flights, I needed another option. A friend told me that she had done some volunteering at Deogi, and that she had met the owners and had spent time in their facility. She knows how nuts I am about my dog, so made the recommendation for me to stop by and drop her off for doggie day care before committing to the weekend of boarding.
The place is super cute, its a townhome on the edge of the Heights, with easy access to 1 – 10. They have a large outdoor area, and only accept small dogs, which I love. The owner has two Shih Tzus I believe so I felt like with my little Shih Tzu she would be in good hands. If you like their fb page, they put up specials like the $ 10 white dog specials on certain Saturday’s, where you can bring your dog, or it’s brother or sister for $ 10. They also take the most adorable photos of your pup, and will put them up on face book dressed up in holiday themes. I know that ridiculous this sounds to non pet owners, but it’s just a fun addition to boarding or day care. They also will print the pics out for you, for a donation of $ 10 to a rescue group you can have all prints.
After a Saturday evaluation, Lucy passed, and I dropped her off for boarding for a long weekend. I love the fact that Deogi opens at 6 am, which was perfect for my flight time. It also helps for me if I want to drop her off for day care, because I’m in the office by 645.
I also got her groomed in which they did a fantastic job, and based on how tuckered out she was when we got home I would say she def. enjoyed herself. It is a little pricier than other places in town, but I’ve gone the cheap route, and my dog ended up with fleas. No thank you. I would rather pay a bit more and know she is in good hands, with quality people.

I love taking my puppy to Deogi! My dog is so tired after picking her up from daycare it makes me feel convinced she was playing out all day. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The price is pretty competitive for the area $ 25/​day. I haven’t tried the grooming service or overnight boarding, but the day care is amazing! Keep up the good work.

Very nice place to take your small dog for a day or for boarding. Our little Bichon actually likes to be dropped off to play with the other pups. People are great too.

I’ve been taking steps to socialize my dogs more. My girl dog, Lola, has become extremely unruly around other dogs. My clients Jan and Frances had mentioned they take their dog to daycare to socialize him. I thought, what a wonderful idea! So, I did some research and came across Deogi. It’s the phonetic spelling of the word D.O.G. I call them, they confirm I will need records of all vaccinations and also Bordatella and the Influenza shot. They also require, like all doggie daycare shops, a temperament test, which I think is highly necessary for Lola. So, I dropped them off this past Monday for their temperament test and first day at daycare. Cody who is the laidback, friendly one was extremely rattled with all these little dogs around him sniffing and barking. He was squeezing his little face into the baby gate trying to get out. It was both so cute and heart breaking. When Lola went in, I was sure she was going to attack, as they all rushed over to her at once and sniffed away. But nope, she did not. They closed the door and I left thinking… this must be how parents feel when they drop their kids off at school for the first time.
When I picked them up, the staff said they were both totally fine and they will be very tired when they get home. When we left the daycare, they ran to the first sighting of grass and pottied. It made me realize, they might not take them out, since I didn’t see much grass. When we got home, they ran to the water bowl and both slurped down a ton of water, making me think, they must not give them any water. Other than those two things, the experience was great. The young man, Salvadore, who works there is extremely helpful, friendly and spent a lot of time with me to make sure that me and my dogs were comfortable there. He was excellent! Can’t say the same for the young man at the receptionist desk at Dogtopia.

LOVE Deogi! I have been taking my mini goldendoodle to Deogi for 16 months. She goes to doggie daycare twice/​week and gets groomed every couple of months. Everyone at Deogi is wonderful to me and most importantly my dog. I never worry about her while she is there and she always comes home happy and exhausted! I was happy with the grooming — Rachel consulted with me about what I wanted — and she always delivered. I can’t say enough about the quality people and care at Deogi!
Thank you to Teresa, Salvador, Marta, Rachel — and to those behind the scenes that I know were taking care of Birdee while she was at Deogi. I highly recommend Deogi — and we will miss them all when we move.

I rescued a new dog a little over a month ago from a shelter. Because I’m about to go on a vacation in about a month and would need to board her, i wanted to start going to doggie daycare and get her used to the place where she would board. I also wanted to avoid anything like a kennel/​shelter atmosphere. Although my dog is a bit shy, she comes out of her shell quickly and I wanted her to experience getting used to other dogs and people. I had heard good things about Deogi, but had also read the reviews and was nervous about the crowding situation. I took her in for her assessment and picked her up a few hours later. The guy that worked there was very nice and I did get to take a brief look into the room, but this was during nap time so I only saw one dog and really did not get to see but a sliver of the room. That’s as far as I was taken as far as a tour. I really wanted to see the suites because that is where I wanted to board her eventually. but was told that we had to be quiet to not stir up the dogs during nap time. I was told to come in at this time because it was the best time to drop her off because it was nap time. I picked her up a few hours later and she passed the assessment with a certificate. She was slobbering which she usually does only when she is in a crate and I asssumed because she was nervous and maybe this was a new thing. The guy told me that she did not socialize with the other dogs or staff and just watched from the sidelines and was scared and that it would take some time. Understandable. She was super happy to see me and we left. I took her back a few days later and left her there a little longer this time. When i came to pick her up waitiing in the kitchen/​lobby I noticed a long list of dogs on the counter that where there that day. The sheet held a list of 40 dogs and I have no idea if the list continued on to the next sheet. It took a few minutes for them to bring her out and it made me wonder what was going on. She came out and again had been slobbering. so maybe she is nervous, but she was less happy than the first time and seemed like she did when i got her from the shelter. Once again I did not get a tour although by now I had my dog and it would have been impractical. They have 2 sets of doors into the play room so you can’t really see what is going on or how many dogs there are, but I did get a quick glimpse and there were a LOT of dogs… and it really seemed overcrowded and like they didn’t have much space. Also it was a gorgeous day, so I was surprised to see them all inside, but maybe I could not see where they go out. They were lined up all looking at the door waiting for their owner. LOTS of them. Once again he tells me that she did not participate. Honestly I think my dog was overwhelmed. I mean even i would not want to be thrown into a wild party with people I don’t know and expected to socialize without someone showing me around. I didn’t get the impression that there are very many people working there or any true one-​on-​one care for a new dog. It would have been helpful to hear from the staff that is actually in the room to see what else she did or hear that they were working with her. Needless to say, the guy was nice so I went ahead and booked the suite for my trip since they only have 3 of them. I was told I’d have to pre-​pay and it would be non-​refundable and if I cancelled that I would get store credit. Huh… OK… I decided to think on that. After that I read some other reviews online that are hidden here on Unilocal… and really thought about why I just wasn’t feeling right about the place. It may work for some people, but I just didn’t feel like my dog was getting the attention that she deserved and I do think the place is overcrowded. She didn’t seem excited to go there. Since then I took her to another doggie day care where they have a staff to dog ratio, more space for the dog to stay, training, and their social assessments are done very differently… introducing the dog to one dog at a time very slowly. I got a complete tour despite being there in the morning when the place would surely be in clean up mode. and the place was already spotless at 7:30am. If you are considering doggie day care or boarding, there are so many options… and I suggest you ask for a full tour. The 2^nd place I went said I could have a tour anytime and come in unannounced and that was never an issue. and that is the way it should be. I met multiple staff members and managers who went through everything in detail. They also did not require a deposit for the boarding except for holidays and i am not boarding during holidays and that I could cancel with no penalty. I’m glad i went elsewhere. and i didn’t get that uncomfortable feeling like i did at Deogi. Plus, it made me nervous that the driveway gate was wide open and the gate on the steps does not latch… and my dog had no collar on. Just inviting disaster.

I am a fairly new dog owner. I got a small dog last year and decided I would take her to doggie day care a few days a month to play/​socialize. Deogi is very convenient. The employees are nice and the owner takes amazing photos, but I stopped taking my dog here because I just didn’t feel comfortable. I feel they have too many dogs in their small area. They pretty much refuse to let you see inside the room — which I can kind of understand… strange person could = barking dogs. I would just feel more comfortable if they limited the number of dogs and had a web cam so I could view my dog playing during the day. I have not used their grooming services, but I have a friend who likes to take her dog here to get groomed.

Deogi is a wonderful place — I want to address what another reviewer, Ratesh, experienced. That is horrible. However, I do believe that was a fluke based on what I have experienced and know about Deogi. I have not only taken my dogs there but I have several friends who take their dogs to Deogi. We have many years of experience with Deogi (not one day, but coutless days) and feel strongly that Deogi is one of the best, if not THE BEST daycare in Houston. I’m glad to hear (and not surprised) that Deogi took measures to reinforce their fencing.

After reading the Unilocal reviews, I decided to bring my dog to Deogi Dog Spa for the daycare service. I dropped her off at 6:30 am, and around 1pm I receive a call from a vets office saying that my dog was found in Memorial Park (a couple of miles away). Thankfully, a very kind woman found my dog and had her microchip scanned. I contacted Deogi Daycare and asked where my dog was, at that time one of the employees said she was under the house, which of course was not the case. I did not receive a single call from Deogi in the hour and a half my dog was missing, nor did I receive a call the whole day. I was put on hold for ten minutes, and I called back four times before speaking to the owner.
Although the owner was very apologetic, her explanation was that my 12lb dog scaled an 8 foot fence. Very unlikely!
I have not heard from the owner in the two days since and considering she knows my dog had numerous cuts and scratches, I find it incredibly unprofessional.
Unless you want to take a chance having your dog roam the streets of Washington Ave, do not take your dog to Deogi!

Took my sweet girl Sadie for a weekend stay and I must say that it was an all around pleasant experience for us both! The staff was wonderful. The price was very reasonable, if anything I feel that I owe Deogi for an additional day bc Sadie was sooo pooped after her weekend «sleep over’ that she slept soundly for the rest of the day!
A happy puppy = a happy owner!

Deogi means dog! I love it :] My little baby Charlie just started visiting day care on Wednesdays because I am at work and school all day, so poor baby needed to go out and have some fun, not to mention make friends!
Charlie can’t speak, well we communicate in our own way so I know he loves going to Deogi! He was comfortable off the bat, because walking in to Deogi is like walking in to someone’s homey kitchen! The staff is so sweet, and I can really tell that Charlie gets all the attention and care that he needs!
The inside is already decorated for Halloween [major points because I LOVE holidays] and is spotless! It also smells like a home, not like a smelly puppy, which some of those lower end day cares smell like…
I love how the daycare has a schedule so the dogs get a chance to be outside when the weather is nice, and nap when they need a little break! Today I was told that Charlie had a blast running up and down the ramp, and that made me feel so good that he could get his energy out! He and I took a nice big nap before I had to go to work, which I can’t tell you how priceless that is for me :]
Next week I was asked to bring a costume for Charlie to take Halloween pictures [OMG could this place get any cuter]! If you really want your pet to be cared for by professionals who are passionate about your dog, this is the PLACE TO GO!
Even though its slightly far for me to drive, considering there is another doggy day care in walking distance from my apartment… it is SO worth it, and I would pay any money for my baby to be safe, feel loved, and enjoy himself!

We’ve use Deogi’s cage-​free boarding and day care for our little Westie for the past year. Deogi is a clean, well-​ran dog spa that is staffed with true dog lovers. When we bring Max to Deogi he tears down a path to get in. Deogi has the best groomer we’ve found who gives him the true Westie cut. It’s so nice to be able to trust our pup is so well taken care of wants to go to Deogi.

There isn’t anything negative I can say about this place, its amazing!!!
Only for dogs under 20lbs, this place is an indoor/​outdoor playground for dogs and puppies. My boston terrier goes crazy once he realizes where we are when i drop him off. They have a large living room style set up with couches and chairs and toys for the dogs’ enjoyment. The pooches are able to run around and socialize all day long! We usually take our dog about once a week for day care.
For boarding: I highly recommend the crate free boarding. They can run around and play all day and get crated at night when its bed time. For a small fee, they will even take your dog to the vet! We actually had to take advantage of this when we were out of town. Theresa and the rest of the staff are a dream to work with and I can’t imagine anyone else taking care of my dog. Their grooming services are also amazing!

Deogi specializes in small dogs daycare/​boarding and grooming. They have a dog play area that looks like a living room setting with couches and chairs set up, I guess to make them feel at home. I swear I saw a leather couch sitting in one of the rooms. It was funny to see all the dogs playing together in the larger room.
We were happy to find this place so close to our house, it was so convenient and their hours are great 6:30am — 6:00pm. We dropped our dog off for a full day services which included daycare and grooming and little socializing with other dogs. The best part is 5 days after her visit and walking out 3 – 4 times a day in this Houston heat, she still smells clean.
The staff was great and friendly. My dog has a home away from home.
