Discount Tire Store – Houston, TX

Fast. Friendly. Efficient. Low Prices. This is how I will describe my experience at this location. The service is top notch, the employees are very friendly, and they give you a thorough explanation of what needs to be done to your car. They provide efficient service by not selling you stuff that you don’t need. They get you in and out as fast as they can. I have checked other prices on tires and wheels, and Discount Tire is by far the most cost effective of them all. On top of that, they are constantly running specials on tires and wheels, so check with them often to catch the latest special.
I’ve been coming to this location for the past four years. It helps that I live on the corner from them. Anyway, I have had them place tires on my truck, and my son and daughter’s car as well. The tires are high quality, name brand tires and last a long time. Tip: For maximum longevity of your tires, please have them rotated when you get an oil change.
To simplify your life, apply for the Discount Tire credit card. They offer 0% interest for 6 months on your purchase of $ 200 or more. I’ve had my Discount Tire credit card for about 6 years now, and whip it out every time I need a set of tires. It really does come in handy, because no matter what the special is, tires can be expensive when you are buying two or more.
Take a look at your tires, and if you are in need of a new set, I urge you to give Discount Tire a try. They will get you rolling in no time at all!

Very tricky staffs, they exaggerate every tiny issues and disrespect most of the warranty. I had two awful experiences with them.
1. Three yrs ago, I came to them to replace my tire which they found a issue and refuse to provide warranty on my old tire.
2.Recently, I have a nail on the tires (which I don’t know) the staff just ignore the fact that there is only one tire under pressure, but told me all the tires are worn out and I need four tires replaced. When they looked into the system, they don’t have the size of tires fit my rims and try to sell me Sth with different size. Eventually, I go to somewhere else to do the replacements.
Basically, they are very misleading and dishonest. Maybe other place’s service is similar or what. But I still want to warn you: be careful before you come into this store. They can rob you hundreds of dollars easily which your car may not really need!

My husban went to discount tire the one on high way 6 and westhimer to get my tires rotation and when he got home, I notice that they switched my tires for the used old ones and he got back to tell them what happened and they still gave me different old ones. I am very upset about that place and I won’t recommend. people to go to that place because now you read my story then you know that they are theif’s.

Went in March to have all 4 tires replaced under warranty after explaining damages. They did not have the tires I needed and told me they would install spares that were slightly too large but would work. They said they would call me when they got my tires in. They never called. When I went back in June to have my girlfriends tires replaced I asked about my tires and they said they only had enough for my girlfriends car (same tires). The manager who was taking care of me apologized for the problem and told me they would still honor the warranty and order the tires for my car and call me when they arrived. They never called. So two months later (I am very busy with work) I notice that my two front tires are very low. It’s obvious that these tires were not in fact replaced with spares but were the same damages tires I had on before. I drive straight to this same location. There is no record of my car being there in June so the employee went outside to check my tires. Only one of them had been replaced with a spare. He refuses to acknowledge what I have explained here and because they STILL don’t have the tires I need offers to give me a discount on tires that they do have in stock. He refuses to acknowledge the warranty and implies that he is giving me a discount (matching price of tires that I need) despite the fact that they are not even the tires I need. I drove for several months on damaged tires and continue to do so because of the incompetence of the staff at this location and their complete refusal to acknowledge their mistakes.

Great customer service! Repaired my tire from a small screw for free! Definitely will go back.

I made an 8:00am appointment to have my two of my tires replaced. This location opens at 8:00. I got here about 20 minutes early and was just sitting in my car passing time on my phone. A technician knocked on my car window at 7:45 and said that he could take my car in early if I’d like. I handed him my keys and walked inside. Before I even finished paying (i was the only person in line) the tech came back in and said that my car was ready. He even rotated my tires for free! Super fast work and phenomenal customer service! Will definitely be back to this location!

I brought my fiancée’s car in to get two tires replaced at 8:15 in the morning. The tires I wanted weren’t at this location, but they were at a different store and the customer service guy told they could be delivered and mounted same day. Wasn’t really bothered by this, I know these things happen. However, 3:45 in the afternoon rolls around and I still had not received a call saying that the tires had been replaced or they had even received the tires from the other store. So I call over, and I’m told that the tires did come in and that the car is ready for pick up, but someone just didn’t check the car into their system. Well, because I live literally next door, I walk over to pick up the car. Only to find out that the tires had not be replaced, and they were in fact laying on the office floor right next to the register. –_​– My advice would be not to promise something they knew very well they couldn’t deliver on. Oh, and it’s 5:10 as I’m writing this, and my car still isn’t finished. Never coming to this location again.

I’ve always like Discount Tire. I feel I’ve always gotten good service — maybe better at some than others, but overall good.
I recently changed to this one as it is closer to my home. Same great service I have come to expect. Up front about cost, honored my road side hazard and all with a smile. Honored my appointment time and had me out in less than 45 minutes. I was even able to wait in the lobby with my little dog and the bathroom was clean — yes!

The employees at this Discount Tire and Battery locations have proven extremely helpful with my wheel problems. Over the course of the last few weeks I have been to this location to have my tires and wheels checked for problems and new wheels installed. Though Iwas a walkin each time they took care of my car in a timwly manner. I would definitely come back here in the future.

I live in the area and have been a customer with Discount Tires for many years. I came to this location back in October to get my tires balanced and rotated like I’ve always done at other locations. It was on a Saturday so they were busy, but it didn’t matter since I had errands to run and had a ride. They told me they would call me when it was ready (approx 10:30a drop-​off and estimated 1 – 2 hour completion). 1:30p rolls around and still no call. I called them and they told me it was just getting finished and that I should go ahead and come by. Here is where my real displeasure of this location started:
I arrive at this location to finally pick up my car. Car was outside in front of the entrance like it normally is when a car is ready for a customer. Employee tells me I’m all set and that I should consider buying new rims since one of them is bent. I asked which one and he said he didn’t know since he wasn’t the one working on it. So he took me inside to talk to the fat blonde white guy (i’m assuming he’s one of the managers or supervisors). He also tells me that one of my rims is bent and that I should really consider buying new rims. I asked him which one and he said the front left one (front drivers side). They allegedly spent extra time trying to balance the tire and discovered the issue.
Well, here’s my thing… IF the rim was bent, as they claimed it was, I know I would have felt it while I was driving BEFORE I brought it in to get my tires balanced and rotated. I drive a G37 with a somewhat stiff suspension so it would have definitely been noticeable. Also, IF it was bent, WHY THE F&#!@ WOULD YOU PUT THE WHEEL BACK ON AND NOT CALL ME AND ASK ME TO COME IN AND TAKE A LOOK AT IT???
It sickens me that these dipshits only cared to make a buck off of me. I went to my mechanic to have it checked out, that same day, and he found NOTHING. The following weekend, I went to another Discount Tires located on Westheimer and Fondren and they also found nothing wrong with the rim. Anyone living in the Energy Corridor should avoid this location at all costs unless they clean house and get rid of those redneck dipshits.

I’m on a strick budget and wanted wheels as my birthday present to myself. Derek and Eli took good care of me. I was able to get quality for a very low price. I’m so happy I went to Discount Tires. Please see photos of my sexy Nissan Cube.

they did a pretty good and speedy job at replacing two of my tires!
i went in first thing on a saturday morning and walked out in less than an hour and took the time to explain all the details.
the staff was friendly and was very impressed.

I went in to buy two tires. They were very busy when I got there at 11:15. Elia helped me, and everything seemed fine till he started ringing me up. The phone rang and it sounded like a personal call. He was not letting me know how much I owed and was more concerned with the person on the phone than helping me. He finally handed me my receipt and sat down. There was a steady flow of people coming in, but most were just picking up their cars, or getting rotations. I began to wonder how long I had been waiting, as it was nearing 1:30. I looked at my receipt and I had been waiting TWO hours! I am a patient person but this seemed excessive. So I go up to the front, and Elia says oh you have the jeep? And proceeds to get my keys. I asked him, has it been just sitting back there, and he just kind of laughs and says yes I guess so. My time is valuable too. They didn’t even bother to come tell me that my car had been ready for 30 minutes. I didn’t even get an apology. I understand they were busy, but no one even called my name to tell me my car was ready. It was upsetting.

This location was just ok– had a repair and warranty– they started well but said «leave the tire we will call when we get your replacement in». I asked «about what time? so I can decide go in to work or kill time» «by 2, we will call you»
3:15 I roll in, «yeah my tire» «oh we forgot to call you» no not happy with that my time is just as valuable as yours, I wasted a sick day on this

I have had good experience with Discount Tire as a whole in past, but twice at this location I was unlucky to meet Matt (Asst Mgr) who was a little rude with me. He gave me impression that he doesn’t care and picks people he wants to be nice with and he would prioritize the queue depending on who he likes. I saw him putting papers of others who came after me in front mine in work room and those people did get their car in before me for same reason as I was in the store. He never told me what was wrong with my tires losing air every week, I asked him if he can check warranty and if this is covered under warranty he said he will let me know after the mechanic looks at it. After 1 hour of wait someone just pulled my car in front with air topped off. Bad customer service on Matt’s part, I will try another store next time.

I bought two tires from Discount Tire for my 2011 car. I received excellent service then. My front tire (not one bought from Discount tire) got a flat this morning and I drove in on the spare. They patched my flat tire for free! Thank you Discount Tire. I will definitely be coming back here for all my tire needs.

First time at THIS PARTICULAR LOCATION.
I’ve been a very long time customer of Discount Tire and this was the first time I’ve had a NOT SO GOOD experience.
First of all, I called ahead of time to see if they had the size tire I needed in their used tires and the person I talked to explained that they did. But when I got there it was a different story. I can’t be too sure but it seemed like he really was trying to sell me on having to buy new tires and of course I felt pushed into getting the most expensive. I explained my budget and they gave me some fairly good tires.
But this is the part that really discourages me… while I was waiting in their lobby, I was sitting next to the door leading to their work station and I noticed one of the workers who was working on my car walk over to the guy that sold me the tires and I overheard him talk about my spare. I couldn’t hear good because of noise but I know I heard him say something about my tire being illegal. The guy that sold me the tires then said,” what are we gonna do? Call the cops on ourselves?” I wasn’t sure exactly what they were talking about but I felt very uncomfortable with the fact they didn’t tell me what the issue was. So I made an effort to give them a chance by bringing up if there were any issues with my spare and they said NO. Although they did get my money for new tires this time. I will never go back to that particular location… I will just find another Discount Tire.

I’ve been in here a few times — for both tire replacements and when I was being stupid and only needed to top my tires up. Every time, these guys have been fantastic — professional, courteous and friendly. Highly recommended.

I’m a complete car newby so when my front tire had a large bump in it I instantly went into panic mode. I drove up to this Discount Tire at 7:20 am (they open at 8). There seemed to be someone in the store so I knocked and even after he told me that they don’t open until 8 I was persistent about him looking at my tire, and he did. He told me they would definitely have to change it but I’d have to wait for the shop to open. So I waited in the lot until 8 but in the mean time several other people showed up and formed a line outside the door. I was worried the wait would be long but as soon as the door opened the employee helped me out first and got everything taken care of in an hour. He wasn’t pushy about me getting all my tires changed, in fact, he recommended I change only two if I couldn’t afford all four. Though they did not carry the right tire size at the moment he found me the next best fit (I would recommend calling in advance so they can find what you need).
This week I realized that one of my original 2 tires was losing air at an alarming rate so I took my car back to Discount Tire because I was afraid they hadn’t caught something the first time I took it in. I was ready with a menacing rant but it turned out to be a nail. The employee was so awesome he got it taken care of for free!
So to end my song of praise, I’ve had an exceptionally great experience with this Discount Tire and they have definitely earned my business for the future! You guys are so great– thanks for helping a damsel in distress :)

I rarely give places five stars because I am a tad bit supersticious that I will jinx my next visit or because there is always that little something that did not impress me 100%.
However, I have come to this Discount Tire a few times (to purchase tires and to repair some) and have always had a pleasant experience.
I know there is always a negative conotation attached to anything dealing with cars (dealerships, mechanics, etc) but this location, and actually every Discount Tire i’ve gone to in Houston, has always had the outmost customer service.
A few months ago, my wife’s car had a flat tire from the construction the were doing on the streets. There was a huge screw in the tire, I took it to this location to get it fixed. The guy working there told me the tire could not be fixed but that it was covered under my road hazard plan. I only ended up paying like $ 13 for the brand new tire. When it was time to pay, I realized that I had forgotten my wallet at home. Embarrased, I told the guy at the check out counter, he did not even think it twice (he may have been the manager) and said it was ok for me to come back and pay later. I even offered my house keys to show him I’d come back. He told me it wasn’t necessary.
I came back about an hour later to pay, received the initial awesome customer service and paid the $ 13. The manager and the staff were super friendly.
