Edwards Houston Marq’E 23 IMAX & RPX

Went to a manatee in the middle of the week. Clean theater, concessions are average and the seats are comfy enough.

I like the location and staff us pretty nice. Plenty of off street parking and not far from the building. Plenty of customer service staff. But restrooms (family) needs locks repaired. i believe all movies theaters are a little over price. One thing I didn’t like is that they allow kids under 10 in a R rated movies. Also allowed customers with dogs that were not service dogs.

This is our go-​to movie theater, definitely one of the best in Houston. Below a few high and low points :
— Free parking and easy access from the Highway. Be sure to lock your car and hide valuables, the lot is huge and it seems there are lots of opportunities for mischief.
— Order your tickets online. The line at the ticket counter gets very long during peak times, and if you are ordering concessions — split up and have someone stand in the concessions line and someone go into the theater to find seats. The concession staff is not the fastest I’ve ever seen, and usually somewhat distracted by each other, but they are at least polite.
— Popcorn is good — since the theater stays busy they are constantly making fresh batches, and there is a DIY butter station. Typical candy choices, soft drink choices, and other items, nothing too crazy.
— Theater is usually clean, and we’ve found it best to sit either on the left aisle or the center, towards the top rows of the theater. Chairs are comfy, if a bit worn, and recline back quite a bit. There are cupholders in between the seats.
One major drawback is that the restrooms are not laid out very well. Depending on which theater you are in, you may have to miss more than just a couple of minutes of the movie if you have to step out, and they are not very large either, so you may have to wait.
Overall this is a great theater for the classic movie-​going experience, and we’ll continue to go back!

One thing that this particular branch of the Edwards Cinema line has over its Wesleyan branch is that you don’t pay $ 3 for parking. Since Dave and Busters, and several other big companies are over in the same area, there is plenty of parking all along this theater.
Let me give you the advice that I gave from the Wesleyan review:
First of all, DO NOT THROW AWAY your large drink cup after the film. This place allows you to bring back your cup on other visits for free refills. Well, with that in play, I guess $ 3 parking isn’t all that bad. The movie prices are normal, which means they are high! $ 8 large popcorn seems about the average rate for first run movie theaters now and days.
Second of all, the theater is roomy and has great sound. I have never had an audio problem here, nor have the accommodations been messy. I can even extend that statement to the bathrooms as well!
Third of all, join the Regal Crown Club. Why not keep track of what movies you have seen there… wait…that is AMC stubs! Why not give yourself discounts for being in a free club. You get a wallet card, and a key chain card to scan when you purchase things there. They also send you a variety of deals and discounts, as well as free movie tickets sometimes. Check out
for all the different deals you get for being in the free club.
Know that you have comfortable seating, with arms that goes up if you are waist expansive like me, along with great sound. Find out pricing before you get here, because you could go into sticker shock if you are expecting this to be a $ 6 theater! Give them a try.

Hope I don’t have to go back here. The seats are disgusting, filthy with stains.

This teaser is the absolute best! The IMAX defines what it means to view a movie. RPX is clear and the absolute best sound that I’ve ever heard. You want to be part of a movie, then this is the place to go.

Good IMAX experience and I like the fact you can chose seats when you buy your ticket. We walked up, so we wound up near the front of the theater, but the experience was still good. My guy was able to get free popcorn using some rewards card. Saving $ is always a plus!

This theatre is very different in the early afternoon vs. evening.
If you go in the evening, be prepared for rude patrons (the dreadful talkers and people that bring babies to 10 pm R rated movies.) The only thing worse with the rude patrons is the way the management basically chooses to turn their head and not address the issues. A couple years back the man and I went to a packed IMAX movie and the lady next to me pulled a tiny dog out of her bag. It proceeded to yip and yap through the previews. When the man went to complain, the manager came to the lady and asked her if it was a service dog! She said yes! And that was that.
I like this theatre best during the late morning and early afternoon when very few people are there. The cashiers and ticket-​takers are all polite and friendly and the line for concessions is short. I have the Regal card so it gives you nice perks if you are a regular movie watcher/​concession purchaser. Free popcorn, small drinks and occasionally free movie tickets.
I’ve never had an issue with parking — during the day or the evening. But, it does get pretty full on the weekends. It’s well lit and busy enough that I’ve never had any issues. At least they aren’t like that «other» big theatre that charges for parking. It’s bad enough a small popcorn is $ 6!

So we start out sitting in a full theater to watch the RPX «high-​dollar» screening of Star Wars Force Awakens. After four attempts to restart the movie, the theater has two cops step in and tell the crowd to get out of the seats and into the guest services line, as the movie is broken.
Now standing in 100 person deep line to see the one clueless customer service agent to get a refund. Lines fold around the lobby but if you leave tonight there are no refunds.
A movie viewing experience at its finest. Regal is to be avoided

We came here for Star Wars. We are very infrequent movie-​goers. Had we planned better, we would have ended up at a different theatre.
If the tickets were cheap, I’d overlook all the flaws just like in the glory days of the dollar cinema.
BUT, at 12 dollars for a regular ticket, 15 for a 3D showing and a whopping 18 bucks for 3D IMAX, that warrants some serious analysis as to where to spend your money.
First, the development the theatre is located in is not the best. It’s a bit seedy as illustrated by the spiked-​wheel low rider that was cruising the parking lot for spots as I drove in. While there are plenty of normal people in the theatre, it’s a bit sketchy outside.
Second, parking is ridiculous here. You have to stalk pedestrians for parking spots. There is a garage, but no clear directions on how to get there.
Third, prices for refreshments are out of sight. I know that’s the case everywhere but their popcorn wasn’t that good and the food didn’t look like anything special. We saved like 20 dollars on candy and drinks by pulling a Han Solo and smuggling our H-​E-​B bought drinks and candy in the cargo hold of my wife’s purse.
Lastly: Restrooms. The restrooms need to be completely gutted and re-​done since they have accommodated literally thousands of people with no upgrades in like 20 years. I shouldn’t have to plan my trip to the bathroom like Seal Team 6 doing a raid where the objective is to get in and out as fast as humanly possible. That’s all I’m going to say about that except that in the side restrooms there was a separate enclosed area for the urinals which was completely bizarre. It had the potential of being really creepy if the wrong person sidled up next to you.
Anyhow. This theatre does the job but I would look for better options at the price point of modern movie-​going.

While it is outside the loop, it is a high quality theater. Tickets run over $ 12/​ea and more for special viewings/​events, so be prepared. For me and a kid we also spent about $ 25 on concessions. It was nice to be able to use Fandango for the tickets, which definitely cut down on the wait time for tickets and getting to our seats. Parking is safe and the area is pretty well patrolled — even when you go at night. Overall it is a great theater.

This Edwards cinema theater is pretty good. I like this a little better than the Weslayan location. They seem to have a good amount of parking, and there are different restaurants near them.
While I usually go to AMC, some movies, this Edwards location seems to start movies earlier and have more showings. This is very helpful, especially if you have kids. Also they have different options in movie viewing (IMAX/​3D/​regular). Food/​drinks is pretty much the same, though I do like AMC’s new machines that you can choose the different types of beverages.
Other than that, they are your typical big theaters with good screens.

I’ve enjoyed coming to this theater. It’s located at the Marq’E entertainment center off I-​10 near Ikea. I’ve been here twice. The most recent was to see James Bond on IMAX. Reserved seating is available so you can beat the ticket lines and possibility of a show being sold out on a Friday night. There’s restaurants in the same area so you can easily grab a meal before or after a movie without having to drive anywhere. I didn’t get any concessions but it’s your typical movie theater prices and quality. The theater itself was clean. Seats were comfy. Movie was sold out so it was a little crowded but that’s to be expected. There’s plenty of parking in the shopping area, including a garage. The area seemed safe to me but I probably wouldn’t walk to my car alone, especially if parked in the garage. If you live near this theater I recommend going here. Not worth driving a long distance though. It’s comparable to other theaters in the Houston area.

I only come here for the IMAX movies. Overall I never leave unhappy. I come for quality of picture and atmosphere. I like it. Food is pricy but hey that’s to be expected. Im a photographer and I know good quality when I see it. The picture is always sharp with deep blacks vibrant colors and not over highlighted. It has perfect white tones and the sounds are surround with no bass from another theatre. Whenever there is a big blockbuster movie I go to this theatre.

This is a wonderfully vibrant little shopping area with a comedy club, movie theater, and dining and shopping venues. The movie theater is really nice. It’s a little pricy as far as the food goes. A small popcorn and small sweet tea was almost 12 dollars however the cup was more wide and round so it seemed to be bigger than your average small cup. I would recommend this area simply because of the selection of activities and things to see and do day or night.

Growing up in California, Edwards had a lot of cache. Fast forward 20 years and it looks as if Edwards Cinemas have aged and not improving much. The color scheme are very dated in this this theater. I wish they spent a little more money redesigning this theater to catch up with modern times; this theater lives in the 90’s.
In terms of the movie experience, overall, i’d say they have nice screens. I don’t think that their digital screen are as good as the AMC30 but the rooms are large and can fit a good amount of people. I haven’t tried their RPX but I assume it’s similar to one on Weslayan.
I do like that the box office is inside the theater so on hot days, you can be cool while waiting in line.
If you’re in the neighborhood, use it. Else, go to Sundance, it’s a much nicer experience.

Yes this theater is huge and it was busy on a Wednesday night but dang, my friend and I had 20 mins before the movie to get some food and it literally took 20 mins + some of the previews to get to the counter. There were 2 – 3 closed registers. What the???

This is a super large theatre. For those of you living in the inner loop, I like this one better than them downtown version because you don’t also have to pay for parking. They’ve got the full assortment plain old movies, imax, and 3D imax. They have a barcode scanner for those of you online ticket buyers.
Overall, the theatre is large and very well kept up. If you are seeing a 3D imax movie, I’d be sure to book in advance. They allow you to choose your seats.

I am 25 years old and this was my very first time here! I’ve been in the Marq’E center for years but after years of being a movie-​attender, I have finally come to this Houston must-​do and the verdict … EH!
I was not very impressed I must say, Don’t get me wrong it is clean, nice, and friendly but do I want to pay $ 16 for a movie where elsewhere is $ 9.50??? I don’t think so.
The staff was friendly and even when I dramatically asked to verify the right amount of the movie price, even the cashier agreed to my shock! I appreciated that someone understood me on the expense of the movie but I didn’t allow it to interfere with my excitement of my movie. But will I drive 30 minutes away to watch a $ 16 movie? I doubt it unless all charges are covered!

One of the best theaters in Houston. Clean facilities, great food selection, self service tickets, security on site, ample parking in lot and garage. If you actually like «going to the movies» you WILL enjoy this theater. If you are reviewing this and complain about the price of movies and concessions a word of advice… stay at home with your Redbox rental and $ 1.17 McDonald’s Diet Coke.
