Holiday Inn Houston-InterContinental Arpt

Put here overnight by united because we missed our connection do to broken down plane. While the hotel is nice and the gentlemen at from desk was pleasant, the room smelled highly of must/​mildew. I coughed all night because of it and didn’t get any sleep.

The free breakfast buffet was good with made to order omelettes. The TV screen was too dark and there was no way to adjust it. But the worse part was coming back after dinner to find a roach in my room… it’s dead now.

I’m here now and it’s pretty much just as Lissa states below: wifi blows (won’t connect) and the room is clean but nothing awesome. Only staying one night so I don’t care. Nice noon checkout time. Front desk was friendly and don’t gps it because you’ll end up at the Hilton. This one is on the opposite side of the highway.

Thought I would give this hotel one last try, as the location is so convenient, but absolutely will not again. Ridiculous wait for the shuttle, uncaring people answering the phone. Called again to find out where the shuttle was and I’m told «heavy traffic». Driver who finally picked me up told the truth, that the other driver «forgot». Not the first time here, nor the third. Not the first timer I’ve been lied to by front desk staff either. Managers seem nonexistent and I’ve never been asked about my previous problems at this hotel. They are the epitome of zero customer service.

Nothing to brag home about. I stayed for one night with a Priceline deal. It’s hard to find, the gps coordinates took me to the Hilton. It’s away from the other hotels. Standard, near airport hotel. The bed was great, nice tv selection, friendly front desk. The breakfast is no longer complimentary. And they have a 12pm checkout, which is nice since I got in really late. Nothing wrong with the hotel; just doesn’t shine.

I was there for a night only. The bathroom needed much to be desired, the water in the tub was not draining properly. The toilet was also not flushing well. There should have been an extra box of tissue papers in the room. I see some reviews talk about complimentary breakfast buffet, I was not informed about it during check in so I guess I missed that. The guy checking in before me got a gift bag with complimentary water bottles and when I asked for one, they gave me one 8 oz bottle, no gift bag.
The rooms in my floor were not all at the same level, one series was separated from another by 4 – 5 steps. So, first one has to take elevator to the floor and then climb steps, hauling your luggage, it was soo weird!
The two staff members at the check in counter were pleasant.

Great service with fast and friendly staff. Clean rooms with almost everything you need and good prices. This is a very practical hotel with no gimmicks. Ideal for a business trip.

So I have let myself calm down a little from my experience here. And still I feel like this was a one star experience. As other reviewers have experience… United missed connection, put me here, already unhappy. But a quick check-​in, a beer, and a bed could make my night tolerable.
Staff was not very friendly upon arrival. But it was late, so give me a room and let’s move on. It was quite obvious that they were under renovations. But that seems to have gone on for years now looking at other reviews. So when I was given my room assignment and key, I went looking for my room. Since getting off of the elevator there were no signs of which rooms are where, I guessed… and guessed wrong. So I’m backtracking to «my» room (you will see why the quotations in 3…2…1) and there was someone already in there! Luckily the door was latched but I still had to talk to the people whose sleep I’m sure I disturbed and had to apologize and show them the room assignment I was given.
So, of course, I walk downstairs to tell the front desk. And when I do, she just grabs my key with no apology and scratches out my old number and put a new one. She acted like this happens all the time, and it is an inconvenience for her to apologize… and she was the one who gave me the room! When she handed me my key, she gave me a bag with a bottled water in it and said «take this for our apology». How about you just give me an apology rather than getting a bottle of water to do it!
Smelly room, large crusty spot on the carpet, and the clock radio was literally from 1987. But my bed was clean and big… otherwise Will would be staying somewhere else. Went to get a beer downstairs, pretty crowded bar area. No bartender for 10 minutes. When she finally came she was talking to people at the other end and showing picture on her phone of her birthday outfit and how hot she was (she was not), and didn’t even acknowledge our end of the bar for at least another 10 minutes. I had to wave my hands just to get her attention. And this might be for the «restaurant» to be reviewed that is attached. But I put it all into one bucket because you were getting a 1-​star review any way. If I get caught in Houston again and United puts me here, I will just take some extra meal vouchers and sleep at the airport.

It’s everything you’ve come to expect from an airport-​adjacent, big box, budget hotel.
The rooms are pretty large and in addition to the normal TV, desk, Ethernet ports, they also have a fridge and coffee pot with complimentary coffee.
The location is about 5 – 10 minutes from the airport — a straight shot. They do have a shuttle that leaves every 30 minutes starting at 4 or 4:30AM but return during off-​peak hours require a call.
The lobby is adequate, utilitarian really. Nothing really struck me as above average for this level of accommodations. The lobby is of nice size and the dining area merely adequate. Be careful as they pull the coffee after breakfast…

The hotel smells old and musty, wallpaper is peeling and stained, and there was no hot water for our showers. For $ 140 a night, I can’t believe there isn’t even a free bowl of cereal for breakfast. Save yourself the hassle and find another hotel.

Must have finished refurbishing since the other reviews. While not a vacation resort this place was a great business hotel for the price, everything was business standard. Good shower, good bed, good TV, good free wifi, no noise, free parking. Didn’t take advantage of restaurant etc. It is a long way from DT Houston, but right near the airport. The staff was just fine when I was there. If it was closer to town I would be fine with staying here when I came to Houston. If you have kids or a picky wife they might find this not a great vacation hotel.

Avoid at all costs. Built in 1971 and any updating done has just been lipstick on a pig. It is time for IHG to either sell to Best Western or to tear it down and start fresh. The place is dirty, smells of mildew and mold, and is falling apart. Rooms dark and still have a faint smell of cigarette smoke. Only good thing was fast wireless… faster than most hotels I’ve stayed at in recent times.

I flew into Houston late, tired, and looking forward to crashing in bed. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the smell. The hotel smells like stinky feet that pervades the entire establishment. I waited in line until I was greeted by two sad looking ladies at the front counter with messy hair and untidy shirts to check-​in and grab my room card. This is the largest Holiday Inn I’ve ever seen in my life, and unfortunately as fate would have it, my room was down the hall, to the left, straight down on the the left side, aka totally opposite end of the hotel. My sad march through the stench of feet was literally about a quarter-​mile, and to cap it off, my room card wasn’t working. #FML I felt like I was in a large maximum security prison as the entire hotel is made of long, dimly lit hallways and old doors that they probably haven’t changed since the 80’s. But when I was getting my new keycard, I overheard that the place was sold out, so nobody probably cares about upkeep. My whole experience could be summed up as ‘Welcome to Shawshank’ (in the voice of Morgan Freeman).
Other lovelies:
The wallpaper was peeling off in my bathroom.
I couldn’t turn off the air in my room even though I turned off my thermostat.
My TV was sitting crooked on the stand.
The good:
Free Wifi in the room.
Decent channels on TV though I couldn’t find anything to watch. Luckily my 4G LTE got good reception, so I watched shows on my phone. (My phone had a faster connection 19Mbps than the room WiFi 4Mbps).
The morning airport shuttle driver was very helpful.

In the process of being refurbished. Lobby was a mess but my room on the 9^th floor was nice, refurbished and clean. Would stay there again provided the construction has been completed.

It’s an older hotel but good accommodations. The Holiday Inn breakfast never fails to satisfy no matter where you go.

An airport hotel that’s way larger than it appears to be from the front — the room numbers seem to go on for days. All in all though, a comfortable and convenient hotel to spend the night if you have an early flight at IAH.
The room wasn’t stocked with toiletries when we arrived but they brought it to us fairly quickly when we called them. I appreciated little details like free coffee in the lobby around the clock, a boarding pass printing station, and the airport shuttle that got me to the airport for my 6am flight in less than 10 minutes. First shuttle departs at 4:30am.

I recently stayed two nights at this location and also hosted a career fair in a conferance room there. All of the staff was pleasant and willing to help.
Rooms/​Service: The room and facility overall is somewhat dated but is clean and comfortable. I stayed in a room several feet from the lobby with a window that faced the swimming pool. I had concerns about noise but once I was in the room I never heard anything The room was clean, spacious and the bed was comfortable.
The conferance room that we reserved for the career fair was a basic room with tables and chairs. There was nothing fancy about it but it served its purpose. The common area restroom was very clean and well kept.
Amenities: There is a restaurant on the premises that services breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has a full bar and televisions for relaxing in the evenings. The free wifi connection was speedy once I got connected but for some reason I had a hard time getting my computer to connect (may have been user error).
Location/​Parking: There is plenty of free parking. The hotel is conveiently is in close proximity to the internatioal airport and the interstate.
The cost of the rooms were reasonable and the overall experience was good. I would defintely stay at this hotel again.

I missed my connection due to weather and had to stay in Houston overnight. Room rates were a little high, but being so close to the airport its understandable. The complimentary breakfast buffet was better than expected with eggs to order! The in house bar and restaurant were alright. Food was average and the beer selection left something to be desired, but they have tour common domestics. Very reasonable prices though, so I guess it balances out. Staff was very helpful and attentive, overall a near perfect stay under the conditions, well done!

Breakfast buffet. bacon, tasteless hash browns disappointing
Dinner wasn’t any better Salmon was way dry as a desert.

Pleasant staff at checkin. Rooms a little tired looking but clean enough and quite comfortable. Good amenities. Attached restaurant has basic offerings at reasonable prices. Convenient location if over nighting at the airport. Not much in the way of local nightlife. Would stay here again.

After a canceled flight, United Airlines gave us vouchers to stay at this motel for two nights. What a mess. Here were the biggest issues:
1) The motel staff was blatantly hostile towards the customers. Every time we approached the check-​in counter to check-​in, ask a question, etc., we were greeted with blank stares. It was as if their looks were saying, «why are you talking to me?» Pretty much every staff member we encountered had a similar attitude.
2) We found two cockroaches in our room.
3) Their airport shuttle is a joke. I believe we waited an hour to get picked up and taken to the motel. Pretty pathetic for an airport motel.
The only positive thing I can say about this dump is that their attached restaurant has friendly waitresses.

You cannot beat the value at $ 99.99 a night. The room, the bed, the bathroom are clean. Nice king sized bed doesn’t hurt either.
Staff from check in to restaurant to house keeping arr all friendly. If you don’t mind the no thrills this is for you. Also room has a microwave and fridge for you to keep things cold or heat things up.
I wouldn’t mind staying again on my next trip.

Stayed here for a layover, got a great deal of $ 90 bucks. We had airport shuttle pick us up and drop us over in under tweleve hours. The concierge was helpful and kind. Our room was good, clean for this level of hotel. They had a good restaurant attached, which was convenient. Business center.
Nothing extravagant, but exactly what you expect for $ 90 holiday inn. Id be back.

I stayed here for 2 nights for work, and this place definitely has its pros and cons. Surprisingly for the location, I only heard 2 airplanes pass overhead over my 3 day stay. You do hear semi trucks crossing Route 8, as this hotel is situated right on the service road. It does get pretty annoying, so beware.
My bathroom smelled of urine, and I couldn’t pin point where it was coming from. The showerhead pressure was good for a hotel, but the bathroom itself was pretty small. It’s difficult to stand comfortably inside and close the door at the same time.
The mattress and mattress frame were squeaky and really soft. It just felt old. The pillows were comfortable, but the fact that the AC unit couldn’t hold a consistent temperature was so annoying. It would come on every 25 seconds. I eventually just turned it off. The décor is older and kind of gloomy looking (color-​wise).
The restaurant is just okay. I don’t expect much from a restaurant attached to a Holiday Inn, but you have some classic American bar food offerings.
The fitness room was actually great for a Holiday Inn. The machines are quite new, and there was definitely a nice variety of cardio/​weight machines. This was a pleasant surprise since I always try to pick hotels with good fitness rooms. Traveling for a living can make you soft!
In the end, I wouldn’t mind staying here if proximity to the airport was crucial, but this is not my first choice. There are many many hotels in Houston for a similar price (think HIE) that are nicer/​newer.
I do want to mention the staff have all been great. I wanted to check in at noon as my flight arrived early. My room wasn’t ready, but the lady at the front desk gave me a $ 25 lunch voucher at the restaurant attached to this Holiday Inn. She also gave me 2 breakfast vouchers (also valid at the restaurant). Supposedly it has a full continental buffet and fresh omelettes. I didn’t end up using them, but that was a really nice gesture.

I have stayed here often for work and as the upgrade their hotel the seem to downgrade their service. The front desk clerks have attitude, the work hospitality is probably not in their vocabulary.
I was booked for a three night stay pre paid through work. After night one I received a rapid checkout under my door. The price on this was charged to my credit card and was more than the total three day reservation. When I approached the tony desk the girl told me continually that this was «how it’s going to be». I am not sure what she want by that. By the end of business day it was corrected. I ten called to extend my stay one day. They told me no problem. Again I receive a rapid checkout under my door. I go to the front desk to verify that my stay was extended and the girl told me she would see if she could even do that. It had already been done.
Finally it is the day of checkout. The only day I DONT receive a rapid checkout. I go to the front desk check out ask about the airport shuttle and she says it doesn’t come at 6 it leaves at 6. At 6 there is still a large group of people standing outside in the heat waiting for the bus driver to open the door. When she does show up she is wearing that holiday inn frown they all have here. Less than friendly and lets you lift your own bag in and out of the van.
Not my definition of good customer service. Or any service for that matter.
