Established in 1980.

Hazel Houghton opened Houghton’s Jewelers on April 1, 1980 with her parents. Over the years all of the Houghton family have worked at the jewelry store. Today, Hazel and her son, Jay, run the business and work with customers.

I have gone to this place for years, usually just getting watch batteries replaced and jewelry repaired. Occasionally I bought jewelry. I went in to see if some old watches were worth anything and saw a beautiful dainty bracelet (looked like diamonds by the yard). They ordered me one and when I received it thought the diamonds were just to small and the bracelet a little too long. After a week they let me return it. I brought in an old diamond ring, and they used the diamonds from the ring, along with several more I purchased and made me exactly the length I wanted. It’s beautiful and I can wear it every day. Hazel and Jay could not have been more helpful.

I have had several watch batteries replaced here over the years, and they treat me like a big spender. They have even been honest with me about the practicality of restoring an old family piece. I feel like I can go there and not be mobbed by salespeople.
I am definitely going to check them out when looking for new jewelery.

Found this place when I was in high school. Right around the corner by my house I grew up in. I’ve only brought my watches here to get my batteries changed. I’ve never purchased anything from here. I believe it’s family owned and there is one guy who always changes my watch batteries. I never talk to them much but they are a nice bunch and the guy knows how to change the batteries quickly and it’s cheap! 6 – 7 bucks per watch. Quick, easy, and professional. That’s all I need.
