Hyatt Regency Houston/Galleria

The bartender Andre needs to be let go. The hotel industry is about hospitality and customer service. He is the biggest a#%hole I’ve ever met, and he lacks the skill to back up his bad attitude. His customer service level is that of an entitled 16 year old who works at Jack n The Box. Super rude.
I asked for a shaving razor at 10:30 and it was brought to my room at 11:50, and the person was BANGING on my door. I was trying to sleep at this hour.
The parking like everyone else has mentioned is $ 32. That’s absolutely ridiculous.
This hotel concept is trying to appeal to a higher class clientele but the Holiday Inn has better service than them.
I would not recommend staying here. I’m a Houstonian and frequently stay at hotels as a get-​a-​way and places like Hotel Zaza, The Houstonian, and St Regis are waaaaaaaay more worth the price, and you’ll end up paying the same price after all the hidden cost. Yes, HIDDEN COST!

Let me just say that the service and hospitality we received during a recent week-​long stay here was AMAZING!
First and foremost… Ashleigh Wilson, the Food and Beverage Manager, is an absolute gem of a person! She is energetic and demonstrated great pride about this Hyatt and Houston in general, and went an extra 100 miles to help us with restaurant suggestions, menu selections from the bar and restaurant, and ensured we received nothing but top-​notch customer service. She is very passionate about her job and about all that Houston has to offer, and she can speak about every food and beverage they offer at the snack counter, bar, or restaurant as though she has personally hand-​selected and tried each item! We looked forward to seeing her and chatting with her each night, and we wish we could’ve tried each of her restaurant recommendations, because she clearly knew what she was talking about!
All of the extra touches and the modern, clean look made our stay so enjoyable… from the fruit-​infused water available all day to the onsite restaurant, to the great locally-​sourced take and go snacks and drinks, to the very comfortable lounge area where you can easily plug in and get some work done. My room (which I think was just a standard king room) was very spacious and had a gigantic flat screen and modern couch/​work area. The handpainted designs on the walls were also a nice touch. I also loved the gym! Internet access on the treadmills was a major bonus!
We thought the food at the on-​site restaurant was very good, and not extremely overpriced, as you would expect hotel food to be. The specialty drink prices were a little steep (some were $ 18), but the convenience of not having to drive to/​from a bar was worth it.
Yes, the high fee for mandatory valet parking stunk. But the valet service we received was excellent, and our car was brought to us expeditiously each and every time (an extra shout out to Sosa and David, who were always smiling and helpful!). One other note is that the rate for this hotel was at least $ 50/​night cheaper than other comparable 4-​star hotels (and even some 3-​star), so it kind of balances out the cost for valet.
I felt SO pampered during our stay here, and the location of the hotel couldn’t have been better! We loved being able to easily cross the street right into Saks and the Galleria. I will definitely stay here again without a doubt.

We have our company meetings at this location and the service, rooms, and food are to notch! They are very accommodating and if you are looking to have a meeting with a nice atmosphere and good service this is it.

I’ve stayed in 6 different Houston hotels in the last 2 months. This one was by far the best and they were all among your average 4 star hotels. The food was great. Staff was awesome. Parking cost an arm but I can deal with that when everything else is great. Hyatt wins again. I wanted to steal the mattress

$ 32 valet parking-​no self. No working desks in the rooms. Hotel is new and clean; however, staff can be bit sour. No 24/​H deli like at other Hyatt Hotels. After 10 pm, there is no food service.

A very nice modern hotel. We weren’t expecting much but were pleasantly surprised. They only gripe I have is how cold the pool is. The gym is great, the food is great, and it is right across fro the galleria. It’s nice to walk there and grab some raising Kane’s and if you forget your nice underwear it also comes in handy.

For a brand new hotel? I walk into my room late night and none of the lights turn on, as in no sensor light. Scary. No room service after 11:00 so I’m not sure why they even sent up a menu. Then someone banged on my door 2x, & called. But based on the menu that was placed at my door; nothing, nothing is offered after 11:00 PM. $ 3.00 for bottled brand 7 – 11 water. Stay at the Houstonian. Safer feeling and basic amenities provided. Valet was inexperienced. It’s pretty and does have a Starbucks in the lobby. But I doubt I’ll stay here again.

Pros: Really nice amenities! The room was very clean and the beds were amazing. Free standard Wifi with the room was also nice.
Cons: They ONLY have valet parking at $ 32 a night… WOMP WOMP! This was a bummer for sure I would’ve much rather parked myself in the attached garage. Why can’t they have valet and self park??? have several of the lower floors for Valet and the fancy cars (we saw a few while we were there) and the above floors for the rest of us poor folk.
If it wasn’t for the unnecessary parking situation I would be back again the next time I’m in Houston.

, if I knew about the parking situation there I wouldn’t have made a reservation… I just thought I was getting a deal for a room at a nice hotel for $ 119 (2 beds).

The mandatory valet is definitely a downside. But I’ll let it slide.
The staff is extremely friendly. When asked if we have stayed here before, which we have not, the staff member walked us to the elevators while explaining the hotel’s amenities. This was a small (and honestly, unnecessary) gesture, but I was nonetheless impressed – because he really didn’t have to do any of that! It certainly made me feel very welcome!
The hotel itself is beautiful. Exceptionally clean! There’s a bar and a café located in the lobby.
The room is huge, very comfortable, and very welcoming. The bathroom is well-​lot and spacious. The bed and pillows are «ahhhhhh» comfortable. The tv is nice and large. And bonus: they have so many direct USB ports for charging all of your electronics! Seriously, one of the best rooms I’ve had the pleasure of staying at in quite a while.
The hotel is very close to the Galleria mall. As such, you are walking distance to some nice restaurants. A quick Unilocal search will also show some great local restaurants just a short drive away!
Will definitely stay here again!

I usually find it hard to give a hotel 5 stars, but the Hyatt Regency is truly an excellent hotel. I arrived 3 hours before check-​in, and they were happy to let me check in early. My room was very clean, fresh and modern… honestly, it seemed like no one had ever stayed in it. The valet was very convenient and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There is nothing better than a great hotel experience to end a long road trip. Will definitely be a returning customer!

I was in town for my best friends wedding. I was his best man, so he said he wanted us to stay at a different place, so he could get be ready for the big day. He came across this place, which was practically new, so it seemed like a good choice.
Everyone I encountered at the hotel was nice. The ladies that checked us in were very super cool. We told them we were there for the night prior to his wedding. We also told them it was my birthday and we would be celebrating that as well that evening. They actually listened to us because when we came back to the hotel from wedding rehearsal, our room had two cupcakes sitting there. One for congratulations for my friend getting married, and one for my birthday. That was so cool!
The room was very modern. I loved the shower, the tile inside was very nice. As I’ve seen in other peoples reviews, the price for parking was very high. That would probably be my only issue here. Overall, good experience here.

This hotel has a veto factor. It only has valet parking and it is $ 32/​night. If this was a crazy busy downtown area maybe I could let it slide but even the Hyatt downtown has a $ 20 self park option and surface lots around for less.
If you aren’t parking here the hotel is very nice and very new but if you have a car you’re going to be getting scammed by this place. I’ll stay at one of the Westins where I can park for free.

So I had a very mixed experience here — but it would probably keep me from returning so i guess the two stars are accurate.
Starting with valet parking — which is a pet peeve of mine for hotels in the burbs. If you are not downtown, I simply don’t understand it. It typically is a pain in the butt, I don’t mind the extra little bit of walking with self park and it usually adds unnecessary charges to my bill which my company pays — and also requires tips — which come out of my pocket (not reimbursable). So the two times i used the valet’s during my stay here, my ticket got misplaced both times and I had to identify my car by the key type, make & color. In the evening this was actually a non-​issue but in the morning it put me in a time-​crunch for my first meeting. I hate being late.
When I checked in, I was originally given a room that wasn’t clean and then a non-​working key to another room. Finally, I got a key and room combo that was successful. The actual rooms were quite nice and very clean. I also liked the toiletry assortment of hygienic helpers.
The lounge area was a bit antiseptic, the snacks were very light and limited and the room wasn’t very inviting. I prefer the Marriott version when I stay with them.
I should probably give an extra star to the staff. The front desk girls were very pleasant and apologetic about my check in difficulties and the valet guys were very nice. If I ever do stay here again — it would be based on the staff friendliness.

Awesome. Beautiful hotel. Brand new. The staff are very friendly and professional. They only have valet which is very convenient. Very modern.

I’ve stayed at 6 separate hotels in the Galleria area, and this is my favorite.
The hotel is new (opened in November 2015, I believe) and the facilities are great. From the rooms to the gym to the club lounge, everything is fresh and in good working order. There are plenty of outlets (including USB ports). They’ve ditched the stodgy desk in favor of a corner lounge and table that is much more comfortable and stylish. The bath products are actually worth using. The bed is great.
The staff are wonderful — always kind and going above and beyond. I’ve noticed this generally with the Hyatt brand (at least with diamond status).
I was sick this morning and couldn’t make it in to work (or even out of bed for that matter) — Miss Kim from downstairs was sweet enough to send up some chicken noodle soup and an orange juice. Totally unnecessary, but greatly appreciated. She helped me survive the day.
As folks have noted, parking costs — so be aware.

Stayed at the Hyatt Regency this past weekend for my birthday. The hotel is amazing and fairly new (3 months). It’s located across the street from the galleria, in fact I walked there on several occasions. There are plenty of things near by: food, liquor store, CVS/​Walgreens, nail bars etc. The staff is absolutely amazing!!! I told them it was my birthday when I checked in and a few moments later a delicious red velvet cupcake on a Happy Birthday platter arrived. The staff went above and beyond this past weekend.
Valet is $ 32 a night but they are quick and easy to deal with. I would definitely stay here again. In fact this just maybe my go to hotel in Houston.

Valet only is $ 32 a night, that wasn’t mentioned during booking on Expedia. In fact, Expedia stated self parking was available which is not true, so be prepared for the extra expense. The hotel is fairly new and the staff are really helpful and very friendly. For those who are traveling for business, this is a great location because it is walking distance to the Galleria Mall (dining and shopping options), and there is a CVS at the light.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency for a couple nights prior to going on a cruise.
The hotel itself is brand new (two months-​ish?) so everything has the «new and shiny» feel still. The rooms overall are quite large and impressive. Overall thoughts are:
Pros — new hotel in great condition, comfy bed, excellent show/​bathroom, friendly staff, decent size gym (a number of different treadmills, weight machines, etc), good location walking distance to the Galleria.
Cons — valet parking only is costly and can be inconvenient, it’s close to the Galleria so traffic in the area is crazy.
We would definitely stay again!

I was recently at Hyatt Galleria for a event and its a spot on venue for a gala evening/​conference or just to get away from the hustle bustle of city life. As its newly opened the staff is extremely friendly & courteous. The rooms are beyond great and so is the size!!!
Overall great hotel with a convenient location.
