Insperity

One of the worst companies I’ve ever worked with. Horrible service at an outrageous cost. They try hard to make it difficult for you to understand their costs.
Benefits: They intentionally dilute the value of their health insurance offerings by negotiating to take certain health providers out-​of-​network that would not otherwise be out-​of-​network! What a disgrace. They sell you on the value of their negotiating power because they have greater than 100,000 people under their health plan, but then they come back and discriminate against your company by individually assessing your costs and increasing premiums based on how much they pay on your behalf in any given year. This is something the health insurance company cannot do, but Insperity is allowed to do it because they’re your «employer.»
401k: Their 401k offering is supper high fee, but their outside record keeping on other plans is so horrible, that you feel like you have to use their 401k plan. It seems like they intentionally provide poor service to push you to pay them more.
FICA Maximums: They neglect to tell you that you will pay extra social security taxes if you switch to or cancel Insperity mid-​year and have employees that will reach the social security maximum during the year.
Payroll: They screwed up our payroll 3 times in a 6 month period. Then, when I tried to make sure it wouldn’t happen again, the payroll specialist would argue with me.
Forms: They constantly make you use paper forms instead of electronic forms. It’s a massive burden on you and your employees.
Overall: Atrocious service, overpriced, not worth it. Please save yourself the hassle.

Insperity Retirement/​401k Management Services
They have huge risks/​gaps in running their website:
Problem #1: lack of secure email method to communicate with customers, ex: should be using Tumbleweed or similar. Currently they are using a simple email address on their website, requiring customers to copy & paste into their email, which can be 100% spoofed.
This could very easily lead to spoofing/​spearfishing by bad guys towards the customer, and from bad-​guys towards the company.
Problem #2: allowing similar-​sounding/​similar-​spelled websites/​domains to propagate, consistently allowing customers to wander into fraud sites and start entering sensitive information which can be used/​sold by the bad guys. Most big companies will buy up the similar domains and route to the real website, and cease-​and-​desists on the bad-​guy holdouts. This could be viewed as continually inviting customers to the business, and keep giving them a chance to get ecoli.
If these are the obvious risks/​gaps I’ve seen, God knows what-​else is under the covers. Hire a security audit!

There is an unbiased study out on why companies leave Insperity. With an average savings of $ 1200 — $ 1800 per employee, it doesn’t make sense to move forward with them.

Insperity is not a customer focused company. Their products are below average as employment agencies go and are well overpriced. If you are a small business, you can do much better than Insperity.
