Kicks Indoor Soccer

Great place to play indoor inside the loop! Great atmosphere, fast pace soccer, good location, and with good people that work here.

This place is neat. We had an office bubble soccer match here the other afternoon. The employees took great care of us and were very nice. The faciltiy has a bar upstairs where you can grab some beer. I did not go up there so I do not know if it was a full bar. The place was clean and very easy to get to in the Heights.

My seven year old does soccer practice every Monday. He loves it, the coach really helps the kids improve their skills. Excellent value for money. Also giving my son great soccer skills and he gets to meet children of his own age.

The only thing this league has going for it is the location. Fees are outrageous, $ 120 for 8 games. Break it down, thats $ 15 a game. 44 minutes if you never sub. Also, if you join the house team, fees are $ 140 for the same 8 games. Not the best way to recruit new customers Kicks. This is my first season in my first league in Houston and I won’t be back next season. The field is in poor shape, needs to be replaced immediately. Also, no outdoor cleats allowed which is understandable, but shin guards are required. that is new to me and I am not a fan of it. Cleats would help get some traction on this old, worn out carpet but I’d prefer it if they just lay out some new turf.
I am currently playing in the Friday league here and it is falling apart. There are now a total of 4 teams after two dropped. Not surprised that one of those was the house team. I honestly wish I would have saved money and played some pickup games.
I played for several years in a league ran by Let’s Play Soccer in San Diego. $ 500 per team + $ 100 ref fees for 10 games. Turf was replaced every 2 years as it should be. Just found out that there are a couple of Let’s Play Soccer facilities here in Houston. I’ll be checking out the one in Stafford next season, already noticed that the league fees are much less than Kicks.
I plan to complain about the turf in person this week, so I’ll update this if I have a good/​bad interaction with the manager.

This place really needs to put their expensive league fees to some use. The field needs to be repaired and the refs need to be more consistent.
Lots of potential, mostly friendly staff and prime location.

Emailed about Adult Soccer League — no response. Called twice — no answer. Left a VM — no response. Stopped by, signed up for league. Paid (thankfully only) $ 15 deposit to get on house team. Was told I would be called by team captain on play date/​time. No call received. Have given up on them.
I don’t know how this place is in business. I think it’s open b/​c of parents desparetely looking for a place for their kids to play. Adult? Looking for soccer? Steer clear of this place.

I come here for personal training with Mike. Parking can be tight, but you can buy cheap beer and chips on the inside. Workout facilities are bare minimum, but it gets the job done. Don’t take my parking space!

If you need a local gym for a morning workout, this place fits that bill. My girlfriend and I come here with a personal trainer twice a week and on our own a couple times. They have all the «hardcore» workout equipment except a decline-​bench-​press (how can you miss that?)
What’s nice is that it isn’t crowded like most major workout facilities. At 7−8am when we go, not more than 5 – 10 people in the weight area.
The front morning door-​guy gives a cheery ‘good morning’ as you walk by to get your sweat and pain on.
The soccer field gives plenty of run-​around exercises and theres a couple monster-​truck tires to flip.

The review (and accompanying star rating) is solely for their exercise area. I followed my trainer here from River Oaks Fitness, so I have absolutely no complaints on that front, as the training I’ve received has been stellar, five-​star quality. But the facilities are lacking. Small, cramped and hot, the gym is located upstairs in a crow’s nest overlooking the field. It still manages to boast some pretty modern exercise equipment, including a surprisingly comprehensive series of weight machines. Cardio selection is limited, and consists of about a dozen machines crammed into one corner. Sometimes whoever’s in charge of the A/​C forgets to turn it on in the morning, and considering the building is a huge metal barn, it can get pretty uncomfortable, especially in the second story gym.
If you’re just looking for a gym for self-​directed fitness, I might consider this place solely for price if you live nearby, but I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to buy a membership. In the meantime, I’ll keep coming here as long as my trainers are – and will likely fit in a visit when the roller derby gals are around.

I have been playing indoor soccer at Kicks for about 3 years now and its GREAT! The facility itself is awesome. They have a full gym upstairs as well, which can be used for an extra fee during the soccer seasons. The best part is they have a full bar something you wouldnt expect in at a indoor soccer arena. I always enjoy a cold «beverage» after my game. OK OK maybe more than 1. The staff is helpful and very friendly. I personally have never had any problems there, but I know how hetic it can be for them especially when a new season begins. All in all the place is great for anyone who is interested in playing indoor soccer.

Kicks is the only place you can play indoor soccer inside the 610 loop, so they definitely have an advantage there. The facility is very nice, with plenty of space to hang out before or after games, and with a bar on premises, it promotes team bonding. Or something like that. In truth, I don’t think I’ve ever stuck around for a pint after my games. They also have a gym — membership is separate from the soccer fees, although players can purchase memberships at a discount. Besides soccer, they also have lacrosse and Houston Roller Derby. They have training camps occasionally as well.
Games are structured as two 22-​minute halves, with a short halftime and a short warm-​up period before the game. Player/​team fees are considerably higher than they are at Southwest Indoor Soccer. The field here is a little uneven, but it’s much softer than the field at SWIS. It appears to have a thick layer of crushed recycled tires, and a thin layer of astroturf on top of that. You will very likely end up with little black pieces of rubber in your shoes, stuck to your leg, and if you fall, in your pants and shirt. I really don’t like this surface. They renovated a couple of years ago and put this new surface in; originally it was soft but not this soft. I find it very unstable to play on, but other folks don’t seem to have the same problem. I don’t mind the bumpiness — it’s like playing outdoor — but I do mind feeling unstable while I’m basically standing still.
In the end, I recommend trying it out if you’re looking for a place to play indoor soccer inside the loop. Just be aware that the surface has its quirks…

I purchased a six month gym membership for $ 80 last fall. The workout area is pretty small (on the 2^nd floor), but it has pretty much everything you need to get your workout on. And it overlooks the soccer field which is pretty cool if you get bored easily (what I do) watching t.v. on the elliptical trainer or treadmill. There’s usually a soccer game going on, or on the weekends, dodgeball, kickball, and wiffleball.
There’s also a bar. Because, who doesn’t want to get wasted after a good workout or soccer match???
Also, now they have Houston Roller Derby once a month. Pretty entertaining stuff…
In conclusion, this place is pretty cool. Don’t expect much as far as the gym part goes, but after all, for what I paid for a membership (about $ 12 a month), I’d say I got my money’s worth.
P. S. They also have a youth league on the weekends, which is pretty cool if you have little ones.

I am in a dodge ball league that plays here every Sunday via Club Monkey Sports. They have a little gym upstairs, full bar, a section of arcade games (beware the air hockey does not work), and of course an indoor soccer field.
They always have someones ipod jammin so it’s not typical crap radio, that’s a plus. Over the summer, it was really hot inside and it made me think they weren’t turning the A/​C on during the weekends, that’s a minus.
They have the original Area 51 FPS, that’s a PLUS!
This is a cool spot, if you live in the area its an alternative to regular gyms. I’m not saying that I would cancel my Fit membership or anything, but its worth checking out.

Not bad. It’s a great facility, with a gym, full bar, stadium seats and other lounging and viewing areas. Though most people do gripe about the modern field turf being pretty bumpy. The customer service is also lacking. And it’s much more expensive than other places. At the end of the day, however, this is the only venue inside 610 — so there’s no reason for them to improve or for me to go anywhere else. Just wish that they weren’t so unapologetic /​shameless about it…
