Kroger

The scariest thing for a person is to feel violated. To feel out of control. Being a larger company I expected it was going to take time for the corporation to contact me. But I was not expecting it to take this long. Holiday weekend my husband and I were at this location grocery shopping. It was actually pretty busy! Towards the end of our shopping trip we made a circle around to The frozen department. Heading towards the vitamins I decided I needed to go to the ladies room.
Now just to say again I was with my husband who is a football player 320lbs 6’7″
so I walked into the ladies room where I handled my personal business. I turned around to flush the commode and pull my leggings completely up. At this point I noticed there was a man halfway underneath the stall. My heart drops. I didn’t know how much he saw, how long he was there or anything. I ended up just screaming and running. As I ran out of the bathroom there was another man that was standing at the front door as the watch. This made me go into complete panic.
Again– holiday weekend and I was crying my eyes out. There was a young gentleman that was stocking the vitamins that quickly went and called to managers. The managers placed me at the very end by the register and left me there… On top of all the feelings I had I was in barest but everybody just staring at me wondering why I was crying.
The managers never moved me into a private area or break room or anything to get away from the publics eye. He notified the police and started reviewing the cameras. He showed a video clip and confirmed my worst fear that somebody at the store followed me into the restroom.
The managers did tell me it was going to take some time but the corporation would contact me. I understand a lot goes on and they have a lot to deal with. And I allowed a lot of wait time. Kroger never even contacted me to check on me.
I will never shop here– not because of what happened, but but because Krogers didn’t care

After a busy morning of running errands, my last stop was Kroger. Once I got home, I quickly put away the groceries and set to work on the various projects around the house that resulted from my trip to the hardware store. It wasn’t until about 5 hours later that I realized I could not find my wallet. I searched my car and house, and, as a desperation move, I called the store knowing that if I had dropped it, it was in the parking lot. I was shocked, grateful and relieved when the customer service agent almost immediately exclaimed that, yes, Allen had found it, and I could come pick it up. Thank you!
P. S. Wallet had over $ 200 in it.

Had to get a prescription transferred from Florida. They were very helpful and courteous. Sent me a text when it was ready for pickup. I’m impressed. Sure beats the heck out of Walgreens!

This is my go-​to Kroger store. It has all of the amenities you are likely looking for in a great shopping experience, and an exceptional Wine & Beer beverage department.
The produce section is consistently fresh, being a high volume store, I do not worry about the quality of perishable items like fruits and vegetables. There is also a large selection of Organic items.
The meat department refrigerated shelves are also continually stocked, and there is a large variety of brands and meats to choose from including pre-​packaged bulk deals. Ordering at the meat counter can be tricky — the staff behind the counter does not seem to be very knowledgeable about the cuts of meat on display. They are polite and happy to help, but unable to answer questions about some of the products.
Grocery aisles are packed with items so you can compare prices and brands easily. There is also a large organic section near the deli, but the bulk food items there are pretty limited. The deli is large, and pretty quick in terms of service, and has several take-​away meal options. Frozen food section is huge, vitamin/​beauty department is better than most.
Wine and beer department is great — they have a ton of choices in just about any price range, to please any palette, and the department staff is courteous and helpful. We rarely go to a liquor store anymore to purchase wine or beer because the selection and prices at this Kroger can’t be beat.
Definitely recommend!

The only reason we come here is because it is the closest store to us here in the heights. My fiancé and I dread coming here every week. First off, we have never had good customer service while ringing out our groceries. Everyone there seems to hate their job and it def. shows. Many times we don’t get a word out of them no greeting or anything. Most of the time there are no sackers so we have to sack our own groceries. Oh but you can def find them all outside wandering around. Today I had it. We just left and had Jonathan, shorter, curly haired Hispanic guy. I’m not sure what he was on but he didn’t greet us, we had to literally stand there trying to hand him our Kroger card for a good minute before he even bothered to look up, then mid scanning he picks up his phone to complain to someone about how he was supposed to get off at 8, it’s 7:20 dude, stays on the phone while we are just waiting there ready to staring at him like «wow are you really doing this right now?» Finally hangs up and asks us again if we had a krogers card which we already gave him. Needless to say I was astonished of how inconsiderate someone could be! The one good thing I can say about this place is that the older white lady, older white male and older black male in the seafood and poultry department are great. Very helpful!

This used to be our favorite store but we will no longer go there as they allow open carry of GUNS. Insane. Just nuts.

Well, it’s a Kroger, and a big one in a typically large Houston strip mall. What sets this location apart, for me, is the impressive wine selection. Well-​curated and decently priced, it’s always a joy to swing by and see what new finds are in the bins. There is a solid selection of Washington State wines that rivals even the downtown Specs, and the high end selection of Napa cabs is fun to gawk at. A strong Italian and French selection, including several upper-​tier Bordeauxs on the back endcap, round things out nicely.

Yea, unfortunately I only visited this location because of closure at a closer one. As always the overnight stockers we’re doing their part of putting great products on the shelves for our purchasing. Store and isle was full of boxes, and items on floor and a lot of excuse me, was in order.
What I didn’t like was my full basket of perishables at checkout, and they only had the self serve registers open. Which led me to scanning and placing my bags on the floor, it led me to continuous stares at the young lady that acted as if she didn’t realize all my groceries would not fit on the counter, so I needed her to clear my screen with her scanner, continuously, so I could complete my transaction. Why she looked frustrated I didn’t understand, I was the one that was working, and she was watching, then came glory by the name of Anita. Mrs Anita smiled and said let me grab my scanner to assist you, she even graciously scanned all my coupons with a smile and no attitude like little Julie. That changed the entire visit and experience of shopping at this location.
The store is in a strip center, with multiple stores, great parking and location.

Good selection but the deli is horrible. Don’t complain to a small plump white manager as he is useless. Had to wait 25 minutes for service. Wine and beer selection is good a little pricey.

I do most all of my grocery shopping outside of the aisles (more fruit, vegetables, raw meat — less prepackaged, canned, or processed) and this Kroger suits my needs very well. There are usually good prices and sales for meat during the week as long as you are flexible. The butcher department does a great job with beef ribeye, cut thick and can sometimes be a better quality than it is rated.
Veggies are a highlight of this Kroger location, well stocked and always fresh. Occasionally they will stock unique, seasonal ingredients like purple kohlrabi, golden beets, and graffiti eggplant. My one knock is that the wine prices are always higher than HEB, but that is universal for all Kroger locations in the area.

This Kroger is a bit better than the one on Ella however I have had a bad experience with this one which I will share. I once tried to get a guy to watch my basket as I went into the ladies room. He REFUSED to do so. How rude! But he was a customer not a staff member.

Everyone seems to give Kroger a hard time, but I LOVE this Kroger !! We are new to Houston and its such a pleasant experience every time I’m there. (around 10 – 15 trips so far). The people at every station are extraordinarily friendly, there is an amazing olive and fresh hummus bar. (try the edamame hummus!) The fresh cheese selection is awesome and there is always a smiling lady handing out samples of amazing combinations on a cracker. Add fresh bakery, sushi and quac constantly, deli, fish… oh and there was a chef there at lunch time the other day whipping up pasta dishes made to order. Walk in, grab your Starbucks, fresh flowers and go! The store is well organized and they always pay attention to lines and call for backup quickly.

The customer service at this grocery store is pathetic. 4 people deep at the deli department and waiting 10 minutes to be acknowledged at 3:00 in the afternoon is unacceptable. And the amount of times I have been in this store before midnight with only self check out available is unacceptable. Many of the self checkout lanes are also always broken. The management here needs to step it up. I know this must be a high grossing Kroger too. Bunch of bull.

This is definitely one of my favorite Kroger’s. It’s huge on the inside and checkout time was relatively quick despite it being Superbowl Sunday.

This Kroger is a Kroger Crapshoot.
Sometimes everything is perfect– the store is clean and everyone is on point.
The next time you go? Not so much.
It is a transitional area so you will find yuppies circling the lot 20 times to get a close spot, each time passing by a hobo grudge match in the parking lot.
Diversity.
Pricing is average for a Kroger but they have gas pumps and that is where you will see a lot of savings.
So come to this Kroger and roll the dice to see what kind of «Krogering» you will be doing, your trip may be perfect or it may not be that great but it will sure be an adventure.

This is easily the best grocery store in the immediate area. The prices are not as good as HEB, but it has a better selection (when compared to the nearby HEB).
Pros:
–Excellent beer selection! Their «Create-​Your-​Own» 6-​pack selection is amazing, and it recently expanded the already remarkable selection.
–Produce is always fresh.
–Good selection of Gluten-​Free and Vegetarian/​Vegan products (If that’s your thing).
–Excellent variety of pre-​made food options. I like the Eggplant Rollotini.
Cons:
–Small Parking lot which is almost always full.
–Prices are a bit high, especially if you don’t have the Kroger’s Reward Card.

Most Kroger stores remind me my childhood, thus promoting a bit of nostalgia, though justxaposed with expensive prices slapped onto low quality stuff. This specific store has shown me that the sky’s the limit with a grocery store.
The Murray’s Cheese (a great boutique dairy and assorted condiments shop from New York) boasts everything from batch olives to artisan crackers. I won’t speak too much into their produce and various goods…
But the wine selection is pretty superb.
I’m really thankful for this outpost of an iconic grocery store, and I never thought I’d say that my experience here was pleasant.

This Kroger is gross. And maybe it’s not their fault, it’s always really crowded, but the one on Studemont gets just as crowded, but not as gross.
I once dated a guy who insisted this was THE «hot Kroger» in Houston. If anything, I think it must be the asshole Kroger in Houston because people are so inconsiderate. I saw multiple instances of people just leaving items in random parts of the store. Don’t want those ice cream cones? Just leave them in the magazine rack! Picked up too many Luna bars? Dump them on the yogurt shelves! Don’t want your opened and partially eaten container of yogurt? The gum area of the checkout line is the perfect place to leave that!
The parking lot is a whole other story. Drivers are SO annoyed with pedestrians and pedestrians are SO annoyed with drivers. It’s a lose-​lose situation.
If you want to brave all that, the selection of food is good… but you can find that quality in MANY other Houston grocery stores. You have a Whole Foods and several other Krogers all not far from this not-​hot Kroger.

This Kroger is laid out backwards from the one I use back home and it’s lacking a general school supply area, but it has other factors that make up for it. The produce is very fresh. There is a large selection of produce (both organic and inorganic). This produce area is particularly awesome because they offer freshly squeezed orange juice! You can taste the difference. It’s worth the cost.
I haven’t figured out the meat situation yet. It seems reasonably priced for the area, but the lay out of the meat in the back isn’t very intuitive to me.
There are some beautiful potted orchids for sale :). Not a lot of herbs here. It’s getting late in the season.

Best wine selection of any grocery store in Houston. No joke. The prices are good (maybe not Costco good, but good nonetheless), and you get a discount if you buy 6 bottles. The wine selection is varied and exciting, with a strong Pacific Northwest presence (Washington and Oregon). This could easily turn into a love sonnet to Washington Syrah and Oregon Pinot Noir, so I’ll leave the wine at that.
The other sections of this store actually bring the review down a notch or two. The produce is fine. The meat section is fine. The organization and cleanliness is fine. Everything is well within my 3-​star range for a grocery store. Standard. Safe. Uninspiring.
