Kroger

Pros:
— Fresh, good quality produce — even sells potted herbs outside
— Helpful staff (my husband even had three staff trying to help him find bran flour)
— Good variety of products (with a few exceptions, such as the bran flour no one could ever locate)
— Kroger has free Friday downloads (go to their website to sign up and each week you can load something a free package of Oreos, gum, cat treats, etc. to your Kroger card)
— Has a Kroger gas station with great discounts
— Several organic food aisles
— An fairly large area with tables to eat food from their deli, sushi, cheese/​salad bar, and Starbucks
— Well-​lit and clean
Cons:
–Lack of a few items (bran flour, this delicious Jolly Time marshmallow popcorn that I have been searching for ever since I found it in a HEB in San Antonio, sometimes they are out of the free Friday download) — though in their defense, the items I can’t find are somewhat obscure

I hate this Kroger! I am so disappointed that this style of Kroger was put here. I think the kitchen small appliance and gadget section is such a waste of space. I think they should remove all of that junk and add more produce. I hate how the organic milk is across the store from the regular milk. Let’s just have all of the dairy together, OK?! Everytime I come here I leave frustrated by the layout and them not having what I want in stock (or I can’t find it, probably). I will head back to the Kroger on 11^th from now on. I am so over this location, it’s dead to me.

Update: they haven’t run out of La Croix in the last several months. I give them a charity star, we still go there a lot, and like the gas discounts.

Just want to say one thing about this place. If you haven’t been, and you love guacamole, then you need to make the visit here. There is a man here who makes the best guacamole you’ll find in this city. Heck. Maybe even in this state. He calls himself the «guacamole man» and even has the title embroidered on his clothing. He has the perfect blend of lime, salt, and avocado. Stop by and say hi to him. He’ll tell you all about it. Nicest guy too. Love seeing someone so passionate about what they do, and when they have a great product it’s even better.

I am rating their floral department. The overall store is great in my opinion. Anyways, I went to get some flowers for a birthday. The girl who was helping me didn’t seem like she even wanted to help me. Didn’t even smile and had somewhat of an attitude. I just let it go because I just wanted the flowers. She cut them and did a good job arranging them. The only problem was that the rose stems were not proportionate to the vase I had picked. I went ahead and bought it even though I should have just told her this isn’t what I expected. I went back today to get new ones cut… mind you that the recipient of these flowers was not available to see me for another week. So I went back and the lady working there said why didn’t you come back the day of or next day. Uhhh lady I don’t have time for that. She kept telling me how I should have brought them back that day. Like you think I’m stupid… I would have if I had THE TIME. So she cut new roses. And just smashed it into the vase. Didn’t even remove some of the excess leaves. So I turned around and said that is fine I’ll just return them. The manager refunded me the money. And he offered to cut them and rearrange them himself for free. I told him no it is not about it being free. It is the fact that I wanted to give the flowers to my aunt whose birthday was last weekend. And now a week later and me not being happy about the whole situation. I don’t mind paying for something that is done right. So I just told him thank you but I don’t want any free flowers.
The only reason why I came to get these flowers from here was because a girl named Ronda, not sure if I spelled her name correctly, did an excellent job putting some flowers together for my manager’s birthday.
I highly doubt I’ll get them to arrange my flowers again, unless I see Ronda.
Customer service needs attention. Even the lady at the customer service desk was snapping at me.

This is one of the worst Krogers. This place is always never stocked. Every single time I have gone there they are out of something. They were out of bottled water of all things at one trip. No one is available to help. This was close to my house, and convenient, but will not be going here anymore. I see other reviews complaining of low stock also. This is absolutely ridiculous for a grocery store. I can understand once or twice but not every single time you go there. This is ridiculous. No one wants to make 2 stops to different grocery stores to find everything they need. How can you not make sure you are stocked… RIDICULOUS!!!

The store is huge and has just about everything you could want. This location is close to me and it is great to be able to use the gas discount.
The store seems to have a few regular issues like always out of shopping cart wipes unless you say something. Also the deli rarely has the self service order computer running and seems to only manage 1 person behind the deli counter making the wait about 15 minutes for deli service on average. The service desk has been notified but nothing is ever changed.
So avoid the deli unless you must but overall a worthwhile place to shop.

This is a review only on the deli meat counter. Twice now I have witnessed poor food handling procedures. The last time I came, the woman slicing my meat ate a piece of meat and then started handling my meat. Yes without changing gloves. Also, her and the crew (including a man who seemed to be the manager) were using loud profane language in front of the customers. Today, the woman behind the counter was actually eating something while handling the food. The customer service is usually great but this is far more important. At least to me.

BEST Kroger of all. I love this location, the food choices are great and I like the layout. Between here and Whole Foods down the street, we’re covered in everything food and wine related. I like their local hummus and always like their fresh guacamole.

There are things that are convenient about this Kroger including it’s proximity to I-​10 allowing for quick access on my way to work or on my way home. Additionally, the employees are helpful and friendly but I’m realizing that they don’t carry the products I need during my weekly shopping trips. It’s been bothering me for months that they have a small frozen vegetable selection and just this week I realized that they have no frozen fruit selection for smoothies. Yes, there are prepackaged Jamba Juice smoothie bags and frozen juice but no frozen fruit. This is shocking and simply just silly.

Grrr. the last 2 times I’ve gotten chicken breasts here (which were both well before their expiration dates) the chicken smelled awful. And it was the expensive brand of chicken too. The store layout is really annoying and it’s difficult to find certain things.

I am reviewing the Pharmacy only:
The store itself has several issues that other reviewers have pointed out, but no one has spoken about the pharmacy.
The pharmacy is amazing! They are ALWAYS super quick and kind. I have never had any issues with having medications filled. Once I came through the drive thru after being given tamiflu script, the pharmacist (Tiffany) filled it on the spot for me because i was feeling horrible.
I cannot stress enough how great this pharmacy team is and i am always disappointed if I use another pharmacy because they cant live up to this quality.

Over the last 6 months since I have Ben coming to this Kroger my opinion of this store and the brand has decreased significantly. I have generally preferred Kroger over other options primarily because my parents shopped there and I have continued to shop at Kroger because they are generally located closer to me.
This Kroger has highlighted all of the little things about the brand and my shopping experiences that have always bugged me, but had never been inconvenient enough to push me elsewhere. I’m not sure whether I am at that point yet or not really.
Pt primary issue with this Kroger is that it’s fresh food department is grossly inadequate for the area of town that it operates in. Fruits and veggies led are frequently out of stock or only a few unappetizing options remain.
I am often not able to find the foods I am looking for because they either do not have them or becuase they are out.
Today I purchased cream of tartar, a spice for those of you who don’t know, but I did not by the Kroger brand. Why? No, they weren’t it of stock, they were just expired — in November 2013. I know it’s cream of tarter, it’s not going to spoil really, but it will decrease in quality and it is not ok to leave it on the shelf. Especially not for 2 years. I have uploaded a picture for your viewing pleasure.

The best grocery store sushi you’ll ever have! I never thought the sushi station would ever differentiate a grocery store, especially one that’s part of a chain. But this particular one taught me a lesson! I’m a fan of the chef’s special nigiri — salmon, avocado, masago, and spicy mayo on a small clump of rice. Who knew something so simple would be quite good! We eat the sushi here once a week for dinner.
The staff is also very courteous. Being a mom of a new baby, it makes you realize how inconsiderate the general population is of people with less than average mobility. So coming here and experiencing little acts of kindness make such a difference. The cashiers here are soooo observant and helpful. Every time I’ve toted my baby in with me, they have either unloaded my cart or did something else to make my life easier. THANK YOU CONSIDERATE YOUTH! there is hope in our future.

This Kroger is fine as far as Krogers go. The parking lot is kind of annoying and can be difficult to get in and out of. Traffic in this area can really build up at certain times. I mostly just go to this location because it’s close to my boyfriend’s apartment.

Well, I scoured the internet looking for a Kroger corporate email address, but came up empty handed. I’m writing this review because over the last 2 weeks I’ve had several unsatisfactory transactions at your store. If I could rate you 0 stars, I would.
First off, I’ve had three separate items which I took home only to realize that they are expired. And not like a week or two out of expiration, but months, even more than a year. Just now I went to cook an apple turnover from the frozen foods section, only to see that the expiration date is March 28, 2013. Notice today is 9÷20÷14. I don’t even think this store was open yet in March 2013. Seriously, WTF? Similar events happened with a package of gravy concentrate, cake mix, and English mustard.
Secondly, I’ve had sales prices not ring up right at the register. Only a few days ago, I bought some porkchops that were on sale for like $ 4 off the regular price. I thought the total was a little high, but I didn’t get a chance to look at the receipt until I got home, and sure enough, it was not discounted. So, I had to run back to the store with the receipt and the porkchops to get a price correction, which was an annoyance I’d rather avoid.
Lastly, your produce selection is perpetually depleted. On several occasions, I’ve been unable to get simple staples, like yellow onions, zucchini, or cilantro because you’re sold out.
Long story short, if you want what you need to be at the store, don’t want to scrutinize every item of packaged foods, and don’t like the need to double-​check the prices at checkout, just go to HEB. This store is 2 miles closer than HEB, but I won’t be going back any time soon.

This relatively young Kroger stays mostly on par with its relatively young shoppers. I guess I knew the Washington area was packed with Paleo-​munching, organic-​lovin’ meatheads, but I confirmed this by observing that all the produce and meat usually disappears by 6pm on a Monday.
The store is bright and fresh, unlike the other 99 Krogers I’ve been in elsewhere. The parking is ample, and they have a fuel station. The layout is weird, but WONDERFUL if you’re a «primal» person, because that means you just make one big loop around the store and avoid the inner aisles. It’s also good if you eat exclusively organic because it’s all grouped in one area of the store… so rather than putting the organic milk in the dairy section, it goes in the organic section. This can, however, lead to initial outrage if you don’t eat organic (me) and are lead to think that they only sell $ 15 half-​gallons of milk and $ 12 almond flour.
But really, store nav is okay once you’re used to it.
The worst part is the low stock levels, especially on produce. You really should shop off peak to get the items you need, or they just may not have it. The list of things I’ve been unable to find includes zucchini (one time it took me until my third trip to have success), broccoli, avocado (ripe), red bell peppers, dried apricots, fresh mozzarella, chicken breasts (seriously? who runs out of chicken?), fresh tilapia, pepper, sourdough bread…
The meat selection is actually not great as far as variety of cuts. That is what Whole Foods is for.
Prices are okay, but they do run a little bit high. I’ve compared to Walmart before. I use the digital coupons to get the prices even lower.
The staff is generally very helpful. The deli is slow, but the guys at the meat counter are helpful and the ladies in the cheese section even cut up some sample sizes of a cheese I wanted that wasn’t out on display.
Bottom line: I go by necessity and have learned to love it, but I would also love if I didn’t have to fight for my veggies. I’m at a size disadvantage.

This Kroger probably has the youngest clientele I’ve seen from a grocery store. It has a very fresh vibe to it, as it is fairly new.
Hub and I visit at least once a week. They always have great sales, and the checkout line is never too long. The management appears to have the ‘cue the line’ down pat! Always someone leading customers to shorter lines, express lanes, etc. The majority of the cashiers are young, and always friendly.
There are times items can run low, like the produce. This location gets a lot of traffic, and their restocking isn’t always that quick.
In addition to the traditional grocer items, they also offer fresh sushi, deli meats, bakery items, prepared meals, pharmacy, and a small Starbucks in store. They even have seating for lunch-​goers … Indoor and outdoor, with a tv and microwave for convenience.
This is my go-​to location!

This Kroger has to be my fave one overall. It is spacious, clean and I love how the produce section is laid out. The staff has been very helpful and friendly; I have not encountered any snobbery yet. They have a great selection of sushi and even some that I have not seen at other stores plus it is always fresh and tastes great.
I have found lately that I love buying our meat from here now as opposed to my all-​time fave place to shop. You can find a brand called Simple Truth that is a great value plus the chicken breasts are not these over-​sized amped up ones either; they are normal sized chicken breasts that cook up juicy and tender. They also sell Silver Platter Pork Loin Center Cut Chops (thick cut) that are a great price and also cook up very juicy and tender.
I love the Kroger app because I can load their coupons now directly on my card and look it up on my phone when I shop. I also love that they have gas at this location and have lately been allowing you to use more than 100 of your Kroger points towards your gas. I recently saved $ 0.40 off my gas because of this.
Another plus of this location is they also have self-​check, and not all their locations do. I also find that there isn’t a problem with a shortage of personnel checking out either.

I went back and tried the electronic station at the deli. It wasn’t easy to see but it is to the left of the deli by some baked goods I think. Definitely recommend trying this and then get the rest of your stuff instead of standing around. It always seems like there is a long line.
Once you place your order keep your ticket and when you go back to pick it up there will be a basket to the left of the deli counter on the bottom shelf. That is where they place the completed orders. Check and make sure it has the right number as your ticket and then you can be on your way!
