Food and service were great. Did not care for the restaurant space. It is a very loud restaurant even if not very crowded. We sat in the front in an area set off from main dinning room and it was still incredibly loud. We started off with the guacamole with pork cracklings. When it came out we noticed no pork cracklings. We asked the waiter and he went back and asked the kitchen. He came back and said they were out of pork cracklings. To be honest I have had better guacamole. He offered to bring us something else to replace the guacamole. We had the queso fundido which was very good. We had the tostadas de atun which and the corn tamales with shrimp which were both delicious.

I don’t usually give a five star rating to anything but this one deserves it. Great food with great service. You just really feel at home. My new favorite restaurant in Houston. Definitely recommend it to everyone who wants to enjoy great food.

Excellent fresh seafood. Very hard to find fresh seafood in Houston. Most restaurants are very inconsistent with fresh seafood. I hope they stay fresh!!! The chile rub pulpo was amazing!!! The ceviches were awesome as well !!! I think their prices are excellent for the quality

Second time in these restaurant, first time we visited them on the previous location. They went from 4 stars to 1 star, below I explain why. What was great: food is great — octopus ceviche, salpicon toast, empanadas, all food was fantastic. The music was superb. 3 guys playing like if it was a full orchestra with a great selection of songs. What was nah: the new location decoration, a downgrade from what was before. What needs to improve and why I am not coming back: service is poor. We were a party of 6 that started the night with drinks and entries, and we were rushed to ask for next food plates, but they took forever to bring the food. They asked us if we want desert but they had no Coffee! … The cherry on the cake was when one of our group asked for a beer and instead he brought the check, with the 18% service charge! … If it was up to me, I will not leave them a single penny.

Hands down the best seafood restaurant in Houston. Period. Let’s start off with the fact that I NEVER ever write reviews on Unilocal but La Fisheria deserves one! Came here on a Friday night with my bf and ordered the Tostadas de atun, Chips de Pulpo and the Trio Ceviche. All the dishes were amazing but the Chips de Pulpo(Octopus chips) were TODIEFOR! Do yourself a favor and order this as your appetizer PLEASE! As far as drinks go, the bf had the house Frozen marg and I had an assortment of drinks including: habanero Margarita and the cucumber MargaritaX2 and they were both deliciously fresh and AMAZING! Customer service: the Chef came by our table and asked if we had a question about a certain dish. The owner Myrna was amazing and made me feel at home. TL;DR: GOHERE! Order yourself a cucumber margarita and Octopus Chips and you’ll love me forever!

This was our first visit to La Fisheria. We were very impressed with the cocktail and wine list, and decided to go with a wonderful Malbec. We started with with triple ceviche which was amazing — could have made a full meal on that alone. They were glad to bring us chips to go with the ceviche because of a gluten intolerance, and we thoroughly enjoyed sharing that appetizer. We vowed to repeat it the next time but agreed that our favorite was the tomato based ceviche. The waiter, Gama, brought us a sample of their homemade habanero sauce — smoky and very hot. Apply with great caution! Then birthday boy had the tamales with shrimp and I had the lobster tacos. He practically drooled over those tamales and I enjoyed the lobster tacos but thought they were a little heavy on the sauce. The guitarist provided wonderful background music which we truly enjoyed; he was very skilled but did not drown out our conversation. The owner, Myrna, was happy to tell us about La Fisheria and gave me a great tour of the place. It was impressive. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely go back.

Fascinating! Food, drinks, atmosphere, you name it. I strongly recommend going there for a fun experience that is out of the ordinary. No other restaurant in Houston offers authentic Mexican seafood cuisine with such quality.

Good food, friendly staff, pricey but worth it in our case. Trio tacos were great, short ribs were good but not much meat. Beans and rice were excellent. Love the atmosphere. It was a good show for only being open 3 days.

The old location off Shepherd was one of our favorite restaurants. The food is still great and we like the new North Downtown location. The Tres ceviches is a terrific appetizer for two or ther people. One of my favorite dishes is their Octopus. It’s expertly prepared with a ancho chile rub. It’s tender and flavorful. They’ve added tacos to the menu at the new location and they’re excellent. My wife had the taco trio and enjoyed it. Great addition to downtown. Only thing I don’t understand is the writes little bags they use to bring the check to the table.
