Everyone always raves about Lopez, but I’ve never really been blown away by their food and I’ve come here for years. I mean its good no denying that, but its not award winning and its not something that stands out as this is the only place I can eat like this at. But what I will say this, their michelada sauce is ! That is something that I can say is only found here. There are other michelada sauces that I like like mambos, but Lopez is pretty up there. Margaritas are pretty good too. The salsa is good too so I would say I prefer Lopez more for happy hour as opposed to actually dining there…

Good was terrible. Rice and beans was okay. Chips were good. Sorry this place doesn’t deserve anything more then 2 stars. Wasted my calories for this!

Great family night! Our food was accurate, prompt, fresh and HOT! Guacamole is fresh and smooth. I(his wife) got the Hildago and the cheese enchiladas are AMAZING! Jesus is the absolute BEST waiter! Side note-do NOT get the firecracker margarita. Tastes like plastic!

My bf’s parents love this restaurant. It’s definitely a sugarland staple. I had never even heard of Lopez, my favorite Mexican restaurant is probably Los Cucos. We went on a Friday night, and everybody and their mama was here. We had to wait ~30 mins but it was fine since we could order margaritas and drink them outside. Those things were strong, and since I had one on an empty stomach, I was really feeling it. The ambiance of the restaurant is very lively and just plain busy. That’s a tall tale sign of a great restaurant. There were big groups and parties galore. We even spotted the restaurant owner walking around greeting everyone. The food came out hot and fresh, and everything was so good! I ordered the carne asada, my bf’s dad ordered the carnitas, and the bf and his mom shared the beef fajitas. I got a taste of everything and everyone wiped their plates clean. The chips and queso is of course a must– have. I would love to come back and try the quesadillas that were highly recommended. I was eyeing them, but I really wanted alllll the protein. And the prices were so, SO reasonable. I will definitely be coming back!

The food is here is top notch when it comes to standard Tex Mex! I love the enchiladas verdes, the guac and salsa. Prices seem average and the weight time can fluctuate depending on if you are willing to sit in the bar area.

This is the best Mexican restaurant in Houston, hands down. The food has authentic flavor, and everything is always delicious. The drinks are nice and strong too. Plus, exceptional service from each member of the staff, even if they aren’t your server. It’s usually packed, especially on nights and weekends of course, but I’ve never waited long to eat after I’ve been seated. I go to Lopez at least once or twice a month, and I’m never disappointed. Amazing restaurant!

Went here for happy hour today with some friends after work. Their food is not good! Coming from SA where they have decent Tex mex I was really disappointed to have ordered the enchiladas verses and got the bland goop that I did :((the only good part about my meal was the avocado slices that were on top. I don’t think I’ll be going back. Viva la San Antonio for Mexican food!

Food was decent. Went there at about 3.30, the place was pretty much empty. Not that I care — but there were atleast half a dozen employees huddled at the reception and no one even noticed when I walked in. Food is moderately priced.

Love Lopez restaurant. The Beef Fajita Chimichanga always satisfies as does the Virgin Strawberr Daquiri. The queso is competent, but not anything exotic. I always enjoy the Chicken Mole Enchiladas. Service can be a bit slow though, which can be annoying & all the servers are only male, which seems rather sexist. Plus, it can be very loud, but is great for groups. One of my favorites!

I’m only leaving this on Unilocal and not Facebook for fear of a lynch mob showing up at my door but *meep* I don’t get the big deal about this place. And I’ve been coming here for years. Yes, I’m not even fan and still find myself here a few times a year out of fear of getting the side eye when the group I’m in enthusiastically shouts«LOPEZ!!». Just seemed everything from their nachos to their chile relleno to the salsa, just– unimpressed. I don’t know though. It’s got some kind of weird cult following on the SW side of Houston so they’re doing something right. That something just does’t tickle my fancy I suppose.

Food was good but service was horrible. We were there almost three hours. Never complained about food, drinks or anything. We ask for our ticket waited 30 minutes. The waitress passed by us several times, understandable, hot food equals priority. Went up to the bar and asked for the ticket and the waitress proceeds to talks about us in front of other patrons in Spanish«como chingan» because I asked her if she could split the ticket… I’m actually bilingual so I could understand her. I have never had a server so inattentive and rude. I know this will mean nothing to management, because I too was a waitress, through college and I know how close the staff is. It was one of the most unprofessional experiences I’ve had. I understand slow food and slow refills because I have lived that, but talking down upon people in another language right in front of them. Not okay.

The food is always great! The service is usually fast and attentive. The ambience of the place is festive, yet calm with a sense of a family oriented business. The(pink) lemonade can definitely be improved, however the food is so good, I wouldn’t care if they don’t. A most if you’re a Tex-Mex food lover!

I will be back to this place. It’s hard for me to write a good Mexican food review now because I had a delicious steak. However being a Tex mex food fan from birth, I feel obligated to note 3 or 4 helpful observations. The beans were very tasty and perfectly seasoned, the rice was actually very fluffy. Small details, I know. If they put this kind of detail in their main dishes, watch out. The salsa and chips were hot and above average, the green salsa was tasty and spicy. I will update this

BESTMEXICANRESTAURANT, highly recommended!!! Beautiful ambience, quality food, amazing prices! Although the line was a bit long we only waited for 15 minutes. All the waiters are super friendly and helpful, they gave us the best suggestions on what to order. The free chips and salsa for the table was super fresh and yummy. We decided to try something new, different from our normal tacos/burritos/fajitas. They all tasted AMAZING! Will definitely order again! Freshly made tortillas are the best ones I’ve ever had! Favorites: Carne guisada($ 9.95) — Mexican stew with beef chunks in brown sauce, with tortillas. —- Love the tortillas! So soft and fresh Enchiladas verdes($ 9.50) — chicken filled corn tortillas topped with tomatillo sauce, American white cheese, sour cream, and sliced avocados. Served with rice and beans. —- best enchiladas! It was wet, juicy and flavorful, with fresh avocados! Pollo qui-qui-ri-quii($ 11.75) — juicy chargrilled chicken breast topped with creamy mushroom chipotle sauce and shrimp. Served with cucumber pico de gallo. Rice and beans. — favorite dish of the night. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!

Really wasn’t anything special to me, I’ve had much better food in many other places. The service is really good, they’re attentive and fast. If it wasn’t for good service and ambiance, I would probably knock this down to a 2. The food is easily forgettable to me.

I was very impressed with this place. My sister, her husband and I went on 2 – 13. I was skeptical and not excited about this due to the fact it was a big Valentines night. Wait: 20 minutes Service: They know my sister and where genuinely excited, courteous and prompt Food: Hot, fresh, and very good Cost: Inexpensive These guys are total PRO, they where streamlined and running fine on a night thats very special to folks. This place was full of families and everyone was having fun. Highly recommend for large groups and robust family fun!!!

Finally tried this place out after hearing so many great things about it. Apparently it got remodeled years back and looks much better then it used to. The inside is pretty nice for just a Tex-Mex restaurant. Plus there is so much space inside, it’s a great choice to accommodate big groups or to celebrate an event. For drinks I tried the Sangria and Margarita, both tasted great! The beef quesadillas almost looked like a Taco since it was so thick. Definitely worth it. I tried my friends crispy tacos which were eh. It was basically 3 mini Taco shells filled with ground beef and lettuce. Taste wasn’t significant. I would not recommend this. Would I come here again? Probably not when there are closer Mexican restaurants to me in the city that are just as good. But overall great choice to satisfy Tex-Mex craving.

Went on a Friday night and it was packed, but the BF and I went straight to the bar for margs while we waited. There is a specific line for people to order drinks who are waiting for a table which I thought was super convenient, however we opted to grabs seats at the bar. Food was great as well. The beef was excellent. We ordered the queso which comes with jalapenos on the side(YAS!). We also ordered the«secret» green sauce. It is super spicy and super delicious. We were even warned by our waiter that it was spicy, but we like that kind of stuff. I’d give it a solid 7⁄10. Only 7 because I tend to like cream based green sauce and this one was tomatillo/jalapeño based. Anywho, nice, new building, nice light fixtures and quick, great service. Boyfriend is here all the time, so I will undoubtedly be back.
