Minh Tri Jewelry Store

I really mulled over whether I should write this review but decided to Bc I’m shopping for another setting.
We bought my engagement ring and wedding band here. My wedding band is Jeff Cooper which I still love and am happy with. It is 18k white gold. The gold hasn’t faded and no regrets here. Service was very good at the first visit. It was down hill after that.
My engagement ring setting was a different story. I selected a «designer setting» with some modifications. I didn’t know making modifications would no longer make it a designer ring. In this case, it did. I feel deceived by this. The designer ring I selected turned into being Minh Tri’s in house design. This is still okay too. But the thing is, the craftsmanship of the ring was horrible. I’ve lost the small diamonds in the prongs twice already and both times it was set in, the jeweler did a horrendous job. The owner or one of the brothers was rude and seemed annoyed that I was back having it fixed again.
The last straw is now my ring is turning yellow. I know this is an easy fix but am not taking it back Bc I don’t feel like being treated the way we did the last few times we had issues with my ring. Buyer beware and would definitely not recommend.

Went in here to browse and Michael helped us. He was nice and answered all our questions. He wasn’t pushy or anything at all. Anything we wanted to look at, he let us see without hesitation. Will definitely ask for him next time we visit again.

We took a couple rings in to get sized and were treated as well as if we were spending thousands of dollars. Mark was friendly, knowledgeable, and not pushy. One of the rings is my husband’s great-grandmother’s, so it was especially important that the work be perfect. It was. I know where I will be shopping the next time I’m in the market for quality jewelry!

I had a great experience at Minh Tri and with Mark in particular. I was referred by a friend that had proposed to his fiancée a couple months earlier and they were both happy with her ring.
Mark was very professional, warm, and not at all pushy. He makes you feel comfortable and at ease, which is important when you are about to spend quite a bit of money on anything, much less an engagement ring that you want to be perfect. Mark patiently walked me through my options once I explained the design elements that I was looking for and helped me come up with a great design that my fiancée adores, it’s been a week since I proposed and we both can’t stop looking at it!

Mark was extremely patient and informative when I was picking out the diamond for my engagement ring. We went in several times over the course of a year before buying. We never felt like he was trying to pressure us into buying or like it bothered him it took us so long. After purchasing my diamond and choosing my setting, it took about 6 weeks for my ring to be completed. It’s absolutely beautiful and I could not be happier with it.

I see with a previous review that I wasn’t the only one who has experienced terrible service for a watch repair. My sister dropped my watch off at this jewelry store to fix my watch that had a cracked crystal about a year ago. We picked it up and after barely wearing it for a week, the face just came off. I had forgotten about it for a while because I barely ever travel over to the Bellaire area. I finally made a trip this summer, about 3 weeks ago. I arrived with the watch, the crystal face, and the original packaging they gave me last year. From that packaging, the gentlemen named Kevin recognized that it had been a while. Initially he was going to charge me $ 15 because it had passed a «warranty period» but he waived it because I had visited before and didn’t know about it (it is 6 months btw). A few days ago I showed up excited to finally get my watch back and wear it all the time like I used to… Only to find disappointment. I’m not sure who helped me, if it was the same man or not, but he was not friendly. I gave him my receipt that I received when I dropped off my watch. He hands me the watch. Upon inspecting, I noticed it had some missing silver pieces that is used for the numbers on the face of the watch. I pointed it out only to be told it was already like that when I brought it in since it had been without a face for some time. I let that go, and as I’m ready to leave, he says that I owe $ 15. I question why I owed an amount when at my last visit, I was told it was free of charge. He proceeds to tell me that it was just an estimate last time and the fee would be $ 15. Keep in mind my previous mention of the receipt I had received at the last visit says «due at the time of pick up: $ 0.00. After kindly stating that I was promised a free service, he rips up the receipt I had handed earlier and said «okay». The tone of his voice resonated annoyance (as someone who works for a well known jewelry, and for anyone who works in a customer service industry, to lose your cool that easily is a bad sign). Anyways I feel like I should have been given that receipt back or he should have kept it for inventory. I leave the store and put the watch on, albeit, it looks quite ghetto if you look closely at the face. I was still excited to get my watch back and wear it. I look more closely at the seam between the watch and the crystal face to find not only glue residue all around but the crystal is lopsided, as it was glued in and probably had pressure applied to only half of the crystal. And I am able to deduct that because there is also damage to the metal rim of the crystal on the side of the face that was closer to the seam. I get home and try to straighten it out by applying minimal pressure to the other side in hopes it will click into place, BUT the crystal pops out, rendering it completely useless again. I’m disappointed in the work they did not do, that we had paid quite a hefty fee that first time around and was almost charged again for work an amateur would have done better. I honestly can just use superglue from home to avoid dealing with this establishment. Nonetheless, I am never returning to do business with them and will let people know of my experience if asked.

Nothing to comment about their jewelry aspect, but watch repair service was horrible. Went to get my watch’s glass glued back on, because it had worn off through years of sitting in an attic. (Hot Houston weather) There was some black glue residue leftover, but the person who serviced it didn’t even bother to clean it up before reapplying the glue and sealing the watch so basically the little diamonds for the hours was covered by the glue smudges. Poor quality work, ruined an expensive and antique watch. When complained about it, it took a bit of arguing to get them to even want to refund the money… However, we didn’t take the refund, it was just the principle of their service. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone to get their watch fixed seeing that their work was so sloppy for something so minuscule and an easy task. On top of that, within a week… the glue did not stay either.

Mark customized a new wedding ring set for me. The outcome far exceeded my expectations. The ring took about 1 month to complete (during holiday season) but was well worth the wait. He spent the time locating the best quality diamond for my budget range.
Minh Tri is my ONLY recommendation as a jeweler. They are very honest, informative, trustworthy, and professional. There is no need to haggle prices as he will provide the best prices for the best diamonds.

Worked with Michael to pick out an engagement ring. He was very patient and worked with me starting from the diamond I wanted to the different setting options available. The diamond itself was very competitively priced compared to online prices and much cheaper than the big name stores.
The ring took about a week to be completed and I couldn’t be more amazed at how beautiful it was. I definitely recommend these guys!

I was shopping for an engagement ring and had been to 4 other jewelry stores before finally visiting Minh Tri. The quality of the jewelry is excellent and the staff here are very helpful and will help you get the best ring that meets your budget. When a stone came loose from the ring a few weeks after, it was replaced, no questions asked. When we came in to upgrade our ring, Michael was very helpful and did his best to make us happy. He saved our marriage! Customer service seems to be their main concern and it shows!

Minh Tri Jewelry is an excellent place to shop and buy an engagement ring. I talked to Mark, who was very helpful in educating me on diamonds and jewelery, helped me make setting choices, and helping me select the best quality diamond in my price range. Trust is important, and I felt comfortable allowing mark to suggest diamonds, verify their quality, and create a ring. I ended up with a very nice 1 carat diamond which was grades above what other shops where offering me for the same price. I ended up with a beautiful engagement ring that my fiancé loved. I would recommend them to anyone, especially Mark. I will be buying my jewelery from them in the future. Thanks Mark!

Loved working with Minh Tri to create a new setting for my engagement ring. My fiancé got my original ring from a jeweler in NY. The quality of the setting wasn’t up to our standards, and rather than send my ring back to NY we decided to get a new one from a local jeweler. We loved my centerstone and wanted to keep it, and Michael worked with us to find a new setting that would accentuate the center stone. We picked out a setting and matching band, then waited 4 weeks for a custom version to be created specifically for my stone. When it got back, there were a few alterations– but good ones! The ring turned out even more beautiful than what either of us could have imagined. The new setting allows more light into my diamond and it sparkles so much more. I’m supposed to be working right now, but I keep getting distracted by my ring!
I would highly recommend Minh Tri and also advise that you trust their instincts, as they are experts at what they do!

If you do not know anything about buying diamonds, then you have to take the time and educate yourself. You go to a large chain jeweler in the mall and oftentimes your not getting the value for your money and your also getting high pressure sales tactics.
The owners of Minh Tri, brothers Mark and Michael treat you like family and do not pressure you into any sale. Instead of trying to score a sale off of a single customer these gentleman offer you value for your money and rely on repeat business from their customers.
However, you do go get what you pay for. If you want low-​end to junk jewelry this is probably not your store. They carry high quality jewelry, precious stones to include but not limited to diamonds, Swiss watches and have a jewelry cleaning and repair shop on-​site.
In August 2002, I married my wife. The day before we were married we went to pick up the diamond ring that we had selected from a local Houston jeweler and were set to fly out of town for our wedding.
When the ring was handed to me I could see a very large inclusion on the diamond without even holding it close to my eye. It obviously was not the diamond we had selected. I took my wife by the hand and we headed for the door. Needless to say when we were married my wife did not have a ring! It really hurt me that this had happened!
Subsequent to our wedding I spent six-​months looking for a diamond ring for her, visiting at least two dozen or more jewelry stores, no exaggeration. I had a lot of anxiety because of my previous experience.
Ultimately we purchased her ring from Minh Tri, I still remember like it was yesterday getting into our car, it was a bright sunny day here in Houston. Seeing the way the light reflected off her diamond and the way it was casting shadows inside our car. The best experience was seeing her smile! Finally all my shame and stress was gone and the hard work looking for the right ring had paid off.
To make a long story short we will be married 10 years this August, We have a 3 year-​old son now and my mother-​in-​law takes excellent care of our son.
I am going to Minh Tri this week and I am buying my mother-​in-​law a diamond ring because of the love and care she shows our son everyday. When you buy from Minh Tri, you are not just buying quality jewelry you are buying family heirlooms that will be passed down from generation to generation.
I recommend this jeweler to everyone I know. These people are professional, courteous and treat you like family.

The jewelers at Minh Tri are very professional, patient, and nice. They take the time to answer my questions and they offer great ideas! I stopped by the store because I was looking for a match for my sole pearl earring that I got as a graduation gift a few years back. They said that finding a match will be difficult, and suggested that I turn my earring into a pendant. I decided they were right, and got the pendant made. I’ve received many compliments on my pendant, but will be on the search for another pair of earrings similar to the ones I lost.
When you go to a Vietnamese jeweler, you can negotiate prices and trade-​in gold. I switched out a pair of stud earrings that I got at a different Vietnamese jeweler with a beautiful pair that I love! Minh Tri also helped fix my necklace clasp too for a reasonable price. In general, I love Vietnamese designed jewelry because they are dainty for their fine handiwork, tasteful, and pretty. =)
