Loved it here! I have been looking for a place like this: they give you what they want without argument, have a variety of designs on video display, great customer service(love the owners!), and they make you feel relaxed. The only reason I give them 4 stars is because I had to wait 20 min to get attended on a slow day, but they made up for it, because took their time staying 7:30 and didn’t rush!(They close at 7).

Modern Nails, Modern Nails you saved me from cutting myself with my own toe nails! (True story – has actually happened twice; my feet are lethal: p Since I was overdue for a pedi and really wanted to put my best foot forward(no pun intended.. .well maybe just a little) on a date, I took a chance going to a new nail salon that so happened to be open late. Thanks to previous customer’s/yelper’s reviews, MN had the highest ratings in the area. I figured, why not try it out? What do I have to loose? From previous experiences of neglecting my feet, the lost of blood from cutting myself with my own toe nail was enough motivation to try a new salon. Driving to the location ventures into the Galena Park area, which is rather wooded – almost serene as you drive down Normandy. It’s also very curvy and hilly too. Makes for an interesting ride. In any case, the shopping center that MN is surrounded by is quite surprising compared to other store fronts in the Northshore area(across the street however is a different story)! Several signs surround the establishment that state there is security being used on the premises. Nice! I like being safe! Upon entering, I was greeted promptly and asked what services I needed. Mind you, I arrived at 6, so I didn’t know if they’d still have time to do a pedi since they close at 7(I respect people’s time, plus I want quality service). My request didn’t seem to bother nor annoy them, so I figured I was cool. They began to setup the pedi pool soon as I told them what I needed. Although I didn’t want to pay the extra $ 3 for a french pedicure, they don’t have a lot of high end nail polishes to use such as Orly or Opi. They have spoiled me, so I opted for a safer alternative that dries quicker-a french pedi. It turned out really nice and the lady that did it was very patient and attentive to do a great job making my feet baby bottom smooth. I did pamper myself and get the $ 25 Deluxe pedi which is the soak, cut down, callus remover, towel wrap, and parrafin wax, but they have a $ 17 pedi that based on the description would be adequate enough. The lady next to me even bragged«I’m getting all this for $ 17?» I think it’s because most customers pay cash as the signs in salon dictates«keep the prices low,» although they do take Visa or Mastercard(min $ 10 for credit card transactions). The massage chairs are pretty nice too. Feel pretty new and still have the plastic over the controls! Ahhhhh relaxation! The only drawback from getting your nails done here is that they are still using stone age technology to dry their great work – fans. About three of them sit in a circle on both sides of the waiting area to dry your feet. And the name of the Salon is called Modern Salon??? Hmmmm if that’s not an oxymoron I don’t know what is! I’m hoping this is just a temporary situation. I did see that they have several hand solar beds that are usually used for gel and shellac wearers, but the fans? They got to go! Such good service too;. The owner had me cracking up as he did customers nails. Pretty entertaining, but the fans — STILLGOTTAGO!!! Nonetheless, I HAVETO give this place another chance for being devoted to their customers – even after hours! It was clearly 7PM(closing time) and a little boy came to the door asking if they were closed. They asked him several questions about what he/they needed. He didn’t really know, so the owner said tell them they’re open. A previous customer had brought her Mom in to get a full set put on. Again, ITWASCLEARLYCLOSINGTIME and THEYSTILLCHEERFULLYWAITEDONTHISCUSTOMER! You can’t beat that kind of service! My advice: bring your own nail polish and sandals and you’ll be ready to get pampered at an affordable price. Oh yeah, bring your cash – leave the plastic at home –it keeps the prices low!!!
