Painting with a Twist

This class was sooo much fun! The instructor candi was super awesome .Our paintings turned out great! I thought the have a great set up here with the ice bucket for your wine. There is also plenty of parking outside. I only took a star away because I did not like quite a few of the songs being played. They were raunchy and not always the most pleasant to listen to.

A perfect hot Sunday afternoon activity with a group of friends. We decided to go only a few days prior, grabbed a few appetizers and cold drinks and headed over. It was great fun and had beautiful paintings when we were finished. Leo was a super instructor. Gave help when you wanted it and backed off when you were fine. Will definitely return.

This was so fun! Went with my husband for a date night and he was the only male but the theme was summertime girlfriends lol we both still had lots of fun. Candy was our teacher and she was so sweet and patient. She even let us pick some songs to play very basic but very fun!

I was completely disappointed by the experience at the Houston Westchase/​Galleria location. Last night I invited a group of friends to join me to paint the Glamorous Girls portrait at the Houston Westchase/​Galleria location because I thought it would be a great way to kick off my birthday week. Well I wish I would have gone to the Heights location! Rebecca was our hostess and she was terrible! There were several groups there and some weren’t able to sit with their parties even though they requested to do so. Rebecca didn’t interact with the ladies and did a terrible job at guiding us through the painting. The only thing that made the experience fun was my guests and the other ladies who were in attendance. A month ago I went to a paint party at the Heights location. The gentleman who hosted was funny, helpful and engaging. He helped those who needed help and he acknowledged the ladies who were celebrating their birthdays. I wish I would have gone to the Heights!
I DO NOT recommend this location at all especially if Rebecca is the hostess! She does not a personality to host paint parties and ruined my experience. I’m over Painting with a Twist!

First time going our instructor was so nice and very helpful. The whole group enjoyed themselves it was so fun we will be returning.

I went here once with my sister and we had soooo much fun! The instructor was great, we had fun and came out with a painting!
I wanted to do the same thing for my mom for mothers day but I completely messed up and scheduled the class for the previous Sunday! We missed the class and I called to see if I could get a class credit and attend one of the classes on Mother’s Day. Despite their cancellation policy, Dimitri was really understanding and worked with me to get into a class on Mother’s day with only 2 days notice! I am so excited to attend and am relieved that my mom, sister and I still get to do something fun on Mother’s Day!

This was a blast. Came here for date night and we really enjoyed ourselves. It was my first time painting so it was a little daunting at first but our instructor Leo was great! Arrive at least 15 minutes early so you can sit down to eat or get your drinks ready. You walk in and they give you an apron for paint spills. They already have canvases set up as well as the brushes and paint. Then the class starts and theres instruction throughout with 10 to 15 minute breaks in between. You take a class photo at the end showing off everyone’s painting. I highly reccomend this as a date night or a good group event.

I’ve been to this location in the past with friends but will no longer return because of the horrible customer service I received from the event planner.
Yesterday I called and left a message on the telephone number listed above and was called back within a few hours. Since I’m planning a private party for my birthday I was very excited when I received the returned call. The conversation was brief because I immediately hung up due to her ugly attitude and bluntness she expressed the moment I answered. Since I work in the sales industry I have no tolerance for bad customer service. I was expecting a more cheerful willing to help person. Sadly disappointed.
I give this place 2 stars because of the amazing instructors they have!

I went here for a friend’s birthday party, and we had a great time! The instructor was funny, and didn’t mind helping artistically challenged people, like myself, with their masterpieces. The assistant remained friendly and was quick to refill our paint even if the room was maxed out with artists. I would definitely recommend arriving at least 30 minutes early if you’re expecting a group, so you can have ample time to setup.

Good times. Our instructor wasn’t the best but it was an easy painting. He tried though. Assistant was helpful. Always a good time out here. Clean facility, nice area, easy parking.

This was a Christmas gift for my son and my sister, so we did the Paint Your Pet class–
I’ll start with why I deducted one star — there was some confusion because we had initially reserved the class in December but had to reschedule due to illness.
You are asked to submit a headshot of your pet, and since I had more time, I had asked if I could submit a different photo than what was originally sent back in early December. Was told this was ok, and not an issue. I submitted a new photo for my dog Arthur, and then sent in one for my son. I gave them my sister’s email address to make sure they had her dog’s photo as well.
When we arrived for the class, they had two canvases with my dog, and one for my son but they didn’t have one for my sister. There was some confusion, but Xandra was able to quickly sketch my sister’s dog from a photo on her phone so it all ended up ok.
I’m deducting one star also because of the way we were kind of crammed into one table. There was not much room for the paint, wine glass, brushes and canvas. They need to add another table, or make better use of both sides of all tables so everyone has room to paint.
Now for the good stuff! Xandra was amazing — she was very patient and as a bonus, she ended up using the extra canvas sketch with my dog as her instruction piece, so I ended up with two paintings — her’s and the one I did myself.
They were very helpful and so patient. For anyone who has never done this class before, start with a regular class — the pet paintings are pretty challenging.
I would recommend that they give you time updates — instead of waiting until five minutes before the class ends, give a 30 minute warning and maybe a halfway mark warning as well.
All in all it was very fun. I will definitely be back.

So I’ve been to one of these painting/​drinking things before and it wasn’t a great experience (don’t remember if it was painting with a twist or not), but this was a complete 180 from that. And I have to say that’s probably because of our instructor. The last time I went to one of these things our instructor seemed so annoyed that everyone was chatting and making jokes and having a good time while she was trying to teach the class. I get it, you’re trying to teach people how to paint, and they are drinkin up a storm and not paying attention… I can see how that would be a tad bit annoying. BUT this is a painting slash drinking concept. Isn’t that the whole premise of this shop?
Anyway, our instructor here was completely different. Although there were many drunk people in the classroom and people were being very loud and impolite at times, our instructor was very patient and didn’t seem mad or annoyed at all. He made jokes and you could tell he was having a good time. He also came around and helped those who wanted help with their paintings. Because of him, I definitely had a much better experience than in the past.
I knocked off one star because there were a lot of people in the class and the noise level was very high. I would recommend maybe making the classes a bit smaller in size, if possible? Besides that, it was a pretty nice and fun experience!

Excellent place to get your creative juices flowing. Just remember, it’s bring you’re own juice but they do supply the cups. The staff is friendly, and quite good at what they do. I went from a blank canvas to a semi decent tree in an hour and a half! My painting partners, however, had some pretty awesome paintings! Good for family, dates and dates that lead to families. Not to pricey, and a lot of fun. Give it a shot!

This was so much freakin fun! I loved every minute. The instructor was great and that made for such a fun experience. Her instructions were clear, demonstrations were effortless and she walked around assisting and complimenting. Made me feel like I was a true artist lol!!! And the best part, she was funny as hell! I wish I could remember her name (it starts with a P) but she’s a young Indian lady (if I find out, I’ll come back and update this review with it). I don’t think you could go wrong with her, matter of fact, I’m positive you can’t!
They supply everything except the actual licka! Paint, cups, ice, smocks, brushes… just show up with bottles in tow and sip, paint, sip some more, paint some more, sip… sip…sip…ok do some more painting, laugh and have tons of fun in between. You end up with a wonderful masterpiece to hang on your wall!
Can’t wait to go back; definitely planning a birthday shindig at this spot next year!

I came here last night with 4 other friends. Luckily we were the only ones because we were stuck in traffic and 15 minutes late. The size of the class really varies by day. They’re usually pretty packed on the weekends and it’s a toss up during the week.
Our instructor, Kay, was really friendly and encouraging. She walked us through the painting step by step showing us different variations on how to draw branches, leaves, and flowers. We also chatted about things besides the painting. It made the class very relaxing and enjoyable.
PWAT is a great place for a date with your special someone, girls’ night out, or just a group of friends. It’s a good place to chat, laugh, and drink. BYOB and they provide small plastic cups so you can pace yourself ;)

Painting with a Twist is a fun, casual place to go to for a girls’ night out or even a date. You’re a stick-​figure kind of artist? No problem! These «classes» are really just wine parties with finger painting. An instructor will give you all the brushes you need, the paint, and the canvas; she’ll walk you through everything (bigger classes mean little to no individual attention but I wouldn’t come here expecting a formal art lesson by any means). And by the way, the canvas will conveniently have a tracing of the main subject so that even I can’t screw this up.
I mean, I did, at one point, dip my paintbrush into a friend’s wine glass, but whatever. Moving on.
Painting with a Twist lets you bring your own wine and snacks. The night I went with a girlfriend, there were several birthdays going on so there was food everywhere. It did get a little crowded and a little loud at times but that’s all in good fun! In the end, everybody walks away with a pretty painting and a good buzz.
Tip: these classes show up pretty often on Groupon/​Living Social and I would recommend looking out for those promotions. Three hour classes, that normally would cost $ 40 – 50 per person can be half off!

We called up this place at almost the last minute, 2 days prior, and were able to make a late night reservation for a private class.
They have no private class size minimum (unlike other places). They also request no deposit (unlike other places). And it was cheaper! You can pay online before you come to the class.
We had our reservation at 8pm for a 2 hour class, but we started late (people got lost). No problem. We weren’t rushed. Just chilled, drank wine. It was the PERFECT after dinner activity.
We painted. We were instructed. We were told to smile and to drink more wine because obviously we were taking this whole thing too seriously. We sang to the songs. And when I was starting to get a little buzzed /​too into the painting, I asked the instructor to stop and repeat the last step and he did so dutifully. I am not really good at taking direction. But this was fun.
My fiancé, of course, decided to be interpretative. He was not scolded or ostracized for not making the same painting, he just did what he do.
Relaxing, well organized and fun.

Even though I wasn’t a fan, but one of their staff pm me & offered me a discount voucher. Which I find very kind of them.

Took my 8-​year-​old daughter here for some mommy and me time. I was glad they allowed me to take her. Other locations I called snubbed me and referred to the «all ages» sessions. I am no artist but my painting didnt turn out so bad, especially since I free-​handed it. The instructor guides you but you’re free to paint however you want. An assistant walks around to assist as necessary with advice or more paint or supplies. He complimented a lot of people — I think he was just trying to be nice to everyone, but thats okay. =)
I definitely would come back. My daughter is definitely interested in having one of her future birthdays here. Maybe me too. Who doesnt love a good BYOB place?

This place is Fun! You can paint here, and then take home a beautiful canvas of your own work! You may also bring in a bottle of wine and some crackers, grapes, and snacks to enjoy as you paint, if you want.
I went in with two friends on Saturday, 9÷24÷11, to paint «Whimsey Tree.» Our instructor was Heather, who i thought was teaching a little bit too hasty, or perhaps it was my first time painting so I was just slow. i dunno *shrugs*
In the beginning, everything went well, but then i screwed up in painting the background. I painted the whole thing red, bright red, just very very red… the more I painted in an attempt to fix the problem, the «redder» the background got! Fortunately, the assistant, Elaine, saw me having a difficult time with the red paint so she showed me how to mix yellow and white paint into the red to make orange so as to lighten up the background color by using the lighter colors to paint over the red. Eventually i corrected the problem and had a nice background. Thank you, Elaine~
Although it was supposed to be a 2-​hour session from 7:00 — 9:00 PM, the class was not dismissed until 10 PM! Wow! we painted an extra hour! The staff was so nice and did not charge us any extra for the additional hour even though the fee for 3 hours was $ 45 and we each paid only $ 35 for the 2-​hour session. Anyhoo, we had a great time over there, and took home some nice paintings~ I love this place and will go back soon to paint another one!
