Perfect Vision Eyecare & Eyewear

Always do a good job for me. Been going there for a number of years. Very professional. Testing equipment keeps being upgraded. Speak with you in terms you understand and readily answer any questions. The office staff always seem happy and upbeat. Several have worked there for a long time.

Summary: I would first off say that I was very pleased with the staff. Dr. Lo was excellent and thorough, as well as, the nurse. My rating reflects their pricing. I understand they are a business, but charging $ 25 for pupillary distance is a little much. Full review below.
Nurses: The nurse at the front desk and who did the screening (eye and medical history) were all very friendly. I really wish I got her name — good luck on your applications! :)
Optometrist: Dr. Lo took care of me and she was very thorough and very professional. I am also a student, so I asked her many questions and raised concerns about my vision, but she reassured me and answered all my questions with great patience. I have been worried about my vision for a while, so she was great to have as an optometrist. I think that if it weren’t for the bogus extra charge, I would have given this place 4, maybe 5 stars.
Glasses: Though I did not purchase my frames from here (online is much cheaper), the variety was not as wide as I have seen before. Despite this, they did have a good variety of frame types. Overall — okay.
Cost: What I am always surprised about, no matter how much I hear it, is the cost of frames and lenses. Some of these range from $ 150 – 400 just for the frames! I would have spent an extra couple of dollars to get glasses straight from the great optometrists and support their business, but that is just TOO MUCH. Then, they charge $ 25 for the pupillary distance (tools online can measure this, but it is best measured by someone who knows what they are doing). I know that they also need to make money, but give me a break! $ 25 is a little much. This was more than 50% of the cost of my visit! I think it’s ridiculous. I would understand that they add extra for this measurement but it literally took half a minute by the nurse.
Overall: I am satisfied with my experience here, but cost is just a huge issue with me, especially something that did not take some fancy big machine with a knowledgable technician. I don’t want to end this review on a negative (because overall it was positive). So if you visit, ask for Dr. Lo — she was great!

Dr. Lo was very patient and provided lots of education. Everyone was nice from the reception to the doctor. So both people I met were nice which is nice. Office was clean, exam was exhaustive — had my eyes looking in all sorts of directions I did even know they could look. Usually I only look forward but they had me looking up down crossways and slantways. Would highly recommend this office. As a first time patient it was a little pricier than other first visits I’ve had in other cities but if you have insurance it might not matter.

Our entire family has been going to Perfect Vision for at least 6 years. Both Mark & Sheryl are extremely thorough, professional and friendly. The office staff are always very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Twee is the best optician ever! It’s so nice to be able to come here year after year and know that our eyes are well taken care of.

Dr. Sheryl was so thorough. Tuyen was wonderful and efficient. I am fanatical about getting the best prescription, and Dr. Sheryl took the time to get my prescription just right.

Everything is perfect and I highly recommend. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Mark Pickering for over 10 years. It’s easy to make appointments. The staff is friendly and more than helpful. Wish all doctor appointments went like this. I highly recommend them!

As much as I liked the Drs. I disliked the staff that worked with glasses. Plus there was always tension in the office. Last year I bought one pair of glasses that I was never able use. They were not right. I have pair of unworn Tom Fords that are crooked and I cannot see out of! The frames did not sit straight. They were also far too big for my face. If I am going to buy glasses that are WRONG for me … I can do that on the internet! When I questioned the staff I got attitude. My husband went thru the same issues. They were just RUDE to him! Almost ugly. It was like it was our fault.
I always bought 2 pair! It is a lot of $! Until the never ending revolving door of staff, and the less that gracious employees are corrected …
I would pass. I hope the DRS. get a grip on this. The Drs. are all very good.

I have gone here for many years and everyone from the front desk until checking out are awesome! This is a first class vision center and they are extremely thorough with their exams. Both Dr. Mark and Sheryl Pickering are outstanding. I have also referred several of our clients to them and they all love going to get their vision checked here. :)

I moved to the area and didn’t have an optometrist so looked on Unilocal for recommendations. Perfect Vision had a perfect rating and now I know why. I had a very thorough examination (Dr. Lo), they billed VSP on my behalf and gave me a bigger discount on a second pair then VSP allows. Then to top it off, my glasses were ready the next day. It couldn’t have been a better experience.

As I get older (and spend more of my life working/​sitting in front of a computer), I have noticed that my eyes get tired in a way they didn’t used to. And at a recent conference, I found myself concentrating very hard on the projector to see the slides. It was time for an eye exam.
I made an appointment (based on the reviews from you other fabulous Unilocalers!) and the receptionist scheduled me with Dr. Lo.
Dr. Lo herself was great. Very professional, friendly, etc. and made me feel about as comfortable as you can get with someone squirting drops in your eye.
The only issue for me was the staff. When I arrived at the office, one person checked me in, and then another person finished checking me in, then another assistant got me started, after Dr. Lo there was someone else, and they all asked me the EXACT SAME QUESTIONS that I had already answered on the form. It was like there was zero continuity of care throughout the experience. Since I only saw two other patients the entire time I was there, it seems like they could have had a dedicated assistant so I didn’t get tossed around so much.
Also, they really did not tell me some important info about the experience. Here are some things I wish I had known:
1) An eye exam takes a really long time. You will want to budget at least 1.5 hours.
2) They will dilate your pupils as part of the exam. For several hours afterward, my depth perception was off and everything was a bit blurry. Good thing I didn’t have plans that night.
3) Driving home: see above re: depth perception and blurriness. If I lived more than 5 minutes away, I would have felt more comfortable having someone else drive me home.
4) Bring sunglasses. See above re: dilated pupils. They gave me a disposable pair that roll on but they did not stay on my face very well. My own sunglasses would have been much better.
Overall it was a good experience and I felt like the doctor was very knowledgeable. However, they need to do a much better job of providing information and setting expectations before the appointment and have better continuity of care.

Great eye care! Dr Mark is very thorough and the office is friendly and professional.

I started seeing Dr Mark in June.
His office is very flexible and works with my crazy schedule. They have appointments as late as 4:45pm and are even open on Saturdays now.
Apparently I have complicated eyes, but I just could not find a comfortable pair of daily contacts. Rather than telling me I had to wear glasses all the time or deal, Dr Mark spent almost two months trialing different lenses with me. He even ordered special ones that weren’t in stock.
Finally this week we found the ones! I know most doctors would not put this much time into finding the right product for their patient, and even after I needed 5+ fittings he didn’t charge me again.
Awesome doctor, awesome office.

My fiancé recommended this doctor since the glasses I got from another Groupon eye doctor 8 months ago was fully scratched up and giving me headaches. Dr. Mark took his time with me and while my previous Groupon doctor prescribed bifocals, Dr. Mark identified my need was not so complex. The lenses he gave me were lighter and I got those immediately since they popped the bad ones out of the frame and didn’t make me buy new frames. It’s clear his office staff is happy to work there and help people. I even ordered prescription sunglasses and cannot wait for those to arrive. They are my forever doctors from now on!

Strongly recommend this practice. Kind, professional people doing what they love. Doctor Mark is very caring and has a great sense of humor as well. Stacy in the office also deserves kudos. She has a gentle way about her and obviously cares deeply for the people she helps.

Dr. Sheryl Pickering is my favorite eye doctor. Very personable and professional. The staff is incredibly helpful and accomadating. They even helped corral our kids while my wife and I were getting our eyes checked at the same time.
Before going to Perfect Vision and Eyecare I had real issues with contact lenses. Now I see much better and have since graduated to monthly’s from daily contacts and the difference is amazingly clear.

I cannot rave enough — Dr. Sheryl is is super efficient, friendly, clearly knowledgeable and patient — she explains the vision tests she performed (I personally love that), is super meticulous and makes you feel like you are most definitely in the right hands.
I feel like they are dedicated to their patients’ satisfaction, rather than churning them out as fast as possible to make an extra buck, which so many places nowadays make you feel like. Dr. Pickering is refreshingly customer focused — the 2 free follow up appointments for the new contacts I’m trying out is much appreciated. I would recommend ordering contacts with an office committed to finding the right fit for my eyes over a big chain or online source ANY day… your eyes are important! I also recommend paying the extra $ 39 for the opto-​map instead of dilating your eyes and being blurry for 4 hours.
After spending the entire month of January dealing with the terrible staff of a myriad of doctors, dentists, and oral surgeons, THIS place was a godsend. Perfect Vision is what all those health professionals’ offices should be like. The staff here is super professional, warm, and knowledgeable. They dealt with my insurance very well, which can be a pain if the office staff is incompetent in that area.
Soapbox: Office staff makes all the difference in the world for someone’s office visit. Doesn’t matter how great the doctor is, if your staff is horrible your practice will flounder. This place is in a great location, has wonderful staff and wonderful doctors. I’ll continue my search for my other health care providers, but I have found my optometrist office!

I love Dr. Sheryl Pickering. She has always been very honest and willing to hear my concerns, and I feel that she does a great job and truly enjoys what she does. If you’re the kind of person that likes to chat, she and her office staff are all very friendly, I find myself laughing with them once a year (b/​c it’s an annual eye exam)!
I would highly suggest the opto-​map. It was previously an out of pocket cost but I still find the value in it and think it is way better than having your eyes dilated. Now don’t get me wrong, every time I see the image, I have no Idea what I’m looking for and it’s all red & green — and I have that slight moment of OMG what is wrong with my eyes! So don’t get freaked when you see the initial image, Dr. Pickering is very good about showing you what each image shows and explaining everything to you.
Anyway, since you should be getting an eye appointment every year, this is a great place to spend some time… handling a necessary part of being a human!

I just switched to Perfect Vision and saw Dr Mark Pickering. This is a doctor who really cares — he took the time to answer questions and took my own experiences and preferences into account.
Additionally the staff is very friendly and experienced. They have a stock of lenses and can cut them for glasses on-​site.
I would highly recommend Perfect Vision and have found my long-​term optometrist.
