Nice place to grab a drink and relax with significant other. Friendly staff and a harp player were an added touch.

We found this place about three years ago because the proton therapy men’s group had a dinner there. The food wasn’t memorable but we were in LOVE with the homemade tiramisu. We would come back every six months just to have dessert. The waiter is the same waiter we had three years ago and he is ready to «upsell». He pushes, wine, soup, salad, coffee, blah, blah, big time. We always feel so bad because we just want desserts and he gets visibly upset. This last time we were pretty disappointed in the tiramisu. It has been going downhill and now the lady fingers were too chewy to easily cut with a fork like before. Before it was melt in your mouth fantastic and now it is «ok». Had small ten inch pizza this time and it was good.

I have eaten at Prima Pasta many times with my boss and his wife. Although we have eaten at several Italian restaurants in the area, this is the one we keep coming back to. My boss and love the beef lasagna. Their claim to having the the best lasagna in town is not exaggerated. His wife likes to try all the other dishes. Their deserts are fantastic. We are never disappointed. Highly recommend.

Pro’s: service(really friendly staff and owners) and location Con’s: the food is just average at best(Owners — if you are reading this, at the very least up your bread game. As the first thing served, it left a bad impression and set the tone for the rest of the meal.

I have been to this place several times and loved it. I am currently here with my family of 19 for engagement party dinner and the waitress rudely said that she will not split the tickets for everyone to pay. We are having to write a list of what everyone had to eat and drink and turn it into her so that she can make new tickets. The place is dead not busy at all. The food is amazing as always…

Most flavorful fettuccine chicken Parmesan and lasagna and the best service we’ve had in a long time. Every time we order the same thing cause it’s always good. Come check them out for yourself and let me know how much you enjoy!

What lead me to this place was their famous lasagna for $ 6.99. Unfortunately my expectations for their lasagna was not met. I received a messy lasagna that was bland on all aspects. There was no royalty in their marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, or beef, hence my 2 star review.

Ordered delivery — prima pasta and one other dish. It was just bland. Overpriced as well. All I could really taste was oil. Would not recommend.

One of my favorites! Everything is good. Lasagna is the best. Also give praise to anything w/seafood in it. Wonderful flavors.

The sandwich tray was perfect for a small party I was hosting. The paninis were delicious. I highly recommend the panini Italiano. They went so fast! BTW it really does feed about 10 hungry people.

My fiancé and I genuinely loved it! We strolled in casually as a last minute eat and we were pleasantly surprised. I had the Campagna Pasta and it was delicious! A great plate of pasta! My fiancé had the primavera and it was very vibrant and tasty! The waiter was incredibly nice and attentive. He even gave us a sample of the superfood item they bottle and sell and it was delicious! The ambience was great! They had a guy singing classic Italian love songs and it all just worked!

As much as I wish I could say that I love Prima Pasta, I was not impressed. For being a family-run restaurant, I was so hopeful. I was drawn in by their«Best lasagna in town» ads — I know, I should have known better, but I was so optimistic. My first reality check hit when they brought out their bread bowl. was it supposed to taste like softened saltine crackers? My second major let-down was when they brought out the actual dish. Their signature beef lasagna looked nothing like the uploaded picture on Unilocal.Instead it was hidden under marinara sauce and cheese. The rest of my experience was tainted by the realization that all their pictures of prim plates on Unilocal must have been stock photos. All that aside, the service was great, the waiter was very attentive and polite, and the venue was pleasant. However, this does not forgive the fact that there was a fruit fly in my water and that I couldn’t find my lasagna under all the sauce. Sadly, my experience does not agree with the accolade. Sorry Prima Pasta, you get two stars for everything I didn’t put into my mouth.

The 5 star reviews here, especially those claiming«some of the best Italian in Houston» truly freighten me. I, personally, can make better food than the food my boyfriend and I ate there. We just moved a few blocks down, so we decided to give this place a shot. My boyfriend ordered the chicken parm pizza, and I ordered one of the chicken paninis. What came out for me, was a toasted hero with the ingredients for the panini. A panini is a type of bread, so I’m not sure how I got a hero, but alas I did. It was the same bread they used for the complimentary garlic bread, which tasted store bought. My boyfriend’s pizza was also not so good. He barely ate half, which if you know my boyfriend, means it really was not very good. He said the toppings were decent quality and they put a decent amount, but that the bread also tasted store bought and was just not good. What kind of Italian place buys their bread and doesn’t make it? An Italian place with bad bread = a bad Italian place. All in all, don’t go here. Find another Italian place that makes their own bread. Updated rating, as I just couldn’t give it more than 1 after trying some other local places.

The food here is lackluster. The best part about the meal was the company and the complimentary bread. The ambience seemed to be set up to look Italian but it was too stereotypical and missed the mark. It didn’t seem authentic at all. I had a seafood soup that was just okay and lacked flavor. The prima pasta was decent. The pasta had a good texture and taste but the chicken in the dish was minimal and chewy. Our waiter was pushy as well, trying to get us to order extra items. I will not go here again voluntarily.

I recently catered from here for an office gathering and we were all pleased with the taste and quality of the food and the great customer service we received. I ordered the chicken fetuccine alfredo(a crowd pleaser), spaghetti and meatballs(delish), veggie lasagna(everyone enjoyed it) and chicken with veggies. It was all so fantastic, fresh and delicious. We had all of that food and it came with garlic toast and salad — for less than $ 300. We will definitely order for more office and personal functions in the future. The only dislike is that they charged a $ 30 delivery fee from their location to downtown.

I went there along with my friend for dinner around 8:30 pm. The place was nice looking and dimly lit inside. We were seated to the left side of the restaurant under fake(of course) Mona Lisa portrait. There was a live solo singer with a guitar singing some italian and country mix songs. Our waitress took the orders for drinks and then forgot about it. Then she comes back after 5 minutes and takes the order again. I order the eggplant parmesan panini sandwich and my friend orders grilled salmon pasta. Then she asks if we wanted salad. So we thought it was a complimentary salad like some places do, because we didn’t order any along with our food. But it turns out they charged for us the salad. The other table guests that sat next to us were offered breadsticks before their order was taken but it was not offered to us. Then she brings the salads and waters are still not there. Well she brings them when we are almost done with our salad. She looked very confused. Well when our food arrived after 20 mins, of course she messed my order and instead of panini I got a pasta plate. Well at that point I just ate it and I told her later that I ordered panini and he goes oh I am so sorry and just leaves. So I expected the bill to reflect that she messed up but instead they charged us for the salad that we thought were complimentary and also charged us with pasta that I didn’t order. TL;DR — the waitress messed up the order and still charged for the wrong and expensive dish along with the salad that was supposed to be complimentary. I will not return nor recommend this place.

Giving 1 star is being generous. Pasta Prima is in the ultimate need of Chef Ramsey’s Wrath. We(Hubby, myself and 2 kids) went to Prima Pasta– the«$ 5.99 Best Lasagne in Town» sign caught our attention. When we walked in, there was a live 1 man band singing classic rock out of tune and to his own guitar beat. The staff asked us where we would like sit– we chose a table away from the one man band. We noticed they served one of our favorite Red Wines-Ruffino… so we got a bottle of that. What a shame– charge $ 36 a bottle for a $ 13 a bottle wine and they didn’t even have the delicious wine temperature controlled. It was a warmish room temp. My hubby drank it, but I could not drink warmish room temp wine. We ordered the Fried Calamari. It was tasteless pieces of low quality rubber bands that were pre frozen with a sauce that tasted like watered down tomato paste that came from a can. I ordered my daughter the cheese ravioli. It was totally pre-frozen…pre-made. It was obviously microwaved on the plate it was served on. It tasted rubbery and was very low quality pre-frozen nastiness. It also had that watered down tasteless tomato paste Prima Pasta calls Marinara. It was NASTY! I ordered the famous $ 5.99 Beef Lasagne. It was so tasteless, and inedible. I was shocked that the center was not frozen– the pre-frozen nastiness was surprisingly hot throughout. I could only gag down 3 bites. My husband asked our waiter for his recommendation and the waiter suggested the Chicken Picatta. It was a pre-frozen tenderized piece of chicken breast with an entire jar of capers atop. The chicken was so incredibly tart and tasted like a pickled caper. I tasted this chicken and could hardly gag down the incredibly disgusting piece of meat. The noodles were clumped together with a non-existent Alfredo sauce. My hubby couldn’t even gag down 1⁄8th of the meal. The garlic bread came from Wal-Mart– and was the best part of the meal. Tis restaurant has been our worst dining experience in Houston, TX.(We are from AZ)
