This place whips up some pretty decent soft serve style frozen yogurt. I decided on the white chocolate flavour, and it it was a bit too sweet for my liking. Other than that, I still enjoyed my dessert. The manager was very kind, and scooped up a generous amount of toppings on my yogurt. I also liked how she took the time in making the appearance look pleasant. I do feel as if more flavours could be added to their frozen yogurt section. Other than that, there is ice-cream and ice-cream sandwiches also available at Purple Vanilla. I cant say much about the ice-cream since I havent tried it, but may do so the next time I come around. This is a nice little spot if you’re looking for something sweet in the rice village area.

Great ice cream, small selection. They give student discounts on Wednesdays, $ 1 per scoop! They didn’t check my student ID, though, so perhaps anyone could get it. Short story: If you’re looking for frozen yogurt and want more selection or toppings, go to Swirrl a couple streets down on University. If you want real ice cream or a good Wednesday deal, this is the place for you!

It’s only February in Houston and it was already hot enough on Saturday that my wife and I wanted to get something cold and then we found this place while we were walking in Rice Village. The owner greeted us and offered us to try some samples which we did. I ended up getting the White Chocolate Mousse which was awesome and just exactly what I needed. I had already seen the«Check-in at Unilocal and get 20% off» sign(I never miss those) but the owner mentioned it again at the checkout and gave us a discount. I will definitely be back to try other stuff at Purple Vanilla.

I was devastated at the slow disappearance of TCBY’s. I was actually pouting when the hubby suggested we give this place a try. I was REALLY hoping for hand scooped fro-yo. Here the hand scooped is just ice cream. They had peanut butter yogurt though, so I went with it… ITWASGREAT! They also had a variety of pints prepacked for to go people, and you can get fro yo cakes and stuff. All around, it might not be quite as good(Someone please tell me where I can acquire some TCBY peanut butter delight hand scooped yogurt!), but it will satisfy my inevitable post-indian food fro yo cravings.

I had the white chocolate yogurt with sugar free chocolate chucks. It was sinful. I would go back. Very nice place. Parking in the Village is a mess though.

Full of non-paying customers… rabble rousers with roasted chicken from the Chicken Kitchen next door, slurping up their chicken, belching and picking and gnawing at the bones. Not very appetizing for someone trying to enjoy an ice cream with his family.

You cannot have a pregnant lady come to your establishment three times for hot fudge sundaes only to be told that the machine to heat the fudge is turned off and«sorry». The last time this happened was last Friday in the afternoon. Twice when I went it was before 5:00 and it’s not like I walked in before closing time. Correct me if I am wrong, but you are running an Ice Cream/Fro Yo store? Better off to go around the corner to Ben & Jerry’s or Baskin Robins. At least I can get a real sundae then.

Nice location, creamy ice cream and soft serve frozen yogurt, and courteous help. We tried it out last night and weren’t disappointed. I had the Chocolate frozen yogurt and a few in our party had the White Chocolate Mousse frozen yogurt. Both were fantastic, esp the WCM. Plus, they let you have decent sized samples of each prior to purchase and after you buy the frozen yogurt — they let you load it up with as many toppings as you want(ex. Oreo, Butterfinger, Heath bar, Reeses, peanuts, pecans, gummy bears, M&Ms, sprinkles… etc.). Also, make sure to check-in on Unilocal or Facebook and they will give you 20% off(or they were at least doing this when we went last night) — a nice benefit!

GRRRR! They door-spammed the neighborhood. Big turnoff. There is a neighborhood paper that can print ads and coupons.

Used to be TCBY, but still the same yummy frozen treat and friendly staff. My kids ask for this place by name after eating dinner out. I have filled out many loyalty punch cards to get a free treat(after 10)!

Pretty good place to go for dessert in Rice Village if you’re tired of the usual. Much to my disappointment, the vanilla is NOT purple(despite their many colorful selections); however all the ice cream flavors I tried were good. Luckily, I happened upon the store on $.99 Waffle Cone Wednesday, and with the Unilocal discount for checking in, I ended up paying $.86 for a huge ice cream cone of peanut butter chocolate. I realized about three minutes in that this was a bad health decision and didn’t finish my cone, but I’m sure I’ll be back when I have sufficient appetite for decadence.

3 words… White Chocolate Mousse. Before all the hype there has always been TCBY.
