This is a great place to Sunday Funday Shoutout to the«1 star for $ 5 valet» girl who inspired to write this review. You are in montrose at a bar, girl. There is a parking lot literally across the street specifically for royal oak — something no other montrose bar has(not counting boondocks small space). Or you could park on the street like a normal Houstonian. Houston parking sucks errrywhere — if you are going to use a service, you gotta pay for it. You cannot honestly expect them to provide that for free, LOL. Food –3.5 stars, truffle fries are indeed bomb, I’ve had most of the appetizers and they are solid. Chicken and waffles were eh, and I’m not a fan of the tacos but if you like whataburger tacos you’ll like these just fine. Bar — 4 stars. I’ve seen other people have a bit of a difficult time getting noticed — I’ve never had a hard time. If it wasn’t for my sympathies I’d give them 5 for bar Atmosphere — 5 starts. Great patio, outside, upstairs, awesome music and great on those beautiful Houston days! Love the vibes, perfect place to enjoy $ 7 pitchers of mimosas. They have tons of deals through the week as well. Happy to have y’all in the neighborhood :)

$ 5.00 for valet parking. Equals a 1-star review. Tony’s has free valet parking. Tony’s. This will be my last time here. Who do they think they are? I should have read all the previous reviews. Don’t come here.

The absolute worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Took an hour and a half to get eggs. Unreal. Will never come back.

Decent. Theres a 50⁄50 chance you will get a good bartender or waitress. The food is absolutely amazing. Downstairs on Sundays they will only show the Texans game and nothing else which is really disappointing. The cocktails are amazing but only is they are executed properly. Basically in a nutshell its a great place to party and get drunk but not a good place for foodies or reserved individuals.

Royal Oak is the best place to do sunday funday. They have great djs and a very chill and cool atmosphere. They have happy hour with cheap pitchers of mimosas. If you like to party on Sundays this is the place to go. It has an outside and an inside patio. It is best to go when the weather is nice but it is also a lot of fun when it’s cold.

Terrible service, stay away. Bartender was a douchey creep. He ignored everyone at the bar except a drunk girl he kept feeding alcohol to instead of cutting off. Couldn’t make any of the drinks right so I had to ask the«fill in» bartender to remake the martini. I like the location and the seating area was nice enough, but even the toilet was broken. I waited over 15 minutes every time to get another beer and martini. the bar was jam packed and the service was slow I watched people walk out. If this bar owner wants to keep this going, he/she needs better bartenders and to fire the creepy, fat guy that can’t do his job.

literally disgusted with this place! My husband, 7 month old child and I were in town visiting family for Christmas from Boston. We found ourselves in the area looking for a place to eat with our child, and this place came recommended. As we were walking up(in the rain), the valet guy stopped us and informed us that babies and dogs were not allowed on the premise. As if the two are equal! Mind you, this was 2 pm on a Saturday afternoon… and the place appeared empty. We have traveled a lot with our child and have never been turned away from any establishment… even nice, swanky ones in bigger markets than Houston. We ventured across the street to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat… with our baby.

This review is for the bar only, as I have not yet tried any of their food items. The first time my husband a I stopped in here was toward the end of a First Saturday event, and we wandered in for a drink. I really love the atmosphere and the way the bar is decorated. Waited a long time to order a drink at the bar, as there was only one bartender at the time, and a couple of large groups all vying for her attention. We enjoyed relaxing on the patio, and they appeared to have table service out there as well, although we did not utilize it. There was a mix up at the bar when we tried to close out our tab, and the bartender(someone different from who we had originally ordered our drinks from) told my husband that his card was not back there, when it most certainly was. Rather than politely checking again, as was his job, he just denied that it was there and didn’t try to help us any further, rather just ignoring our request to close out the tab. It was extremely frustrating, and the matter was finally resolved when a different bartender had to come back and checked again. Regardless, we came back again for a private event upstairs, and had a very easy time ordering a drink at the bar, choosing not to start a tab. Everyone was friendly and we enjoyed our time. I would give them another try, but there’s just so many places in the area, we’ll probably give them a try first.

The atmosphere of this place was great the food was pretty dang good the service was pretty good but I had accidentally left my credit card and they were terrible trying to get it back. They were very unaccommodating and I was very upset with it. I felt that they could have had a little bit more professionalism but they just didn’t want to go out of their way to help me, their customer

Sunday Funday? This is the place to be. Great vibe, nice selection of adult beverages. However, when we asked if they had a champagne or a Procecco we got a blank stare. They offer mimosa’s so I would expect there is some on hand. Not a big deal, but a bit strange. We did not eat, but the menu looks great. I will need to go back and try Sunday brunch. Outdoor patio on first and second floor. Parking is either valet in at the door or parking across Westheimer. I cant imagine doing that as Westherimer is a busy road. I will review again after I have had brunch here.

Good food, especially the margherita pizza and brunch. Pricey drinks though with a pint of purple haze setting you back $ 6.50. Ouch. Plenty of space in the establishment along with the front and back patios but I didn’t notice any space heaters for the cold nights. About the only quibble is the parking. If you want to park in the main lot, you have to valet your car. There is an overfill lot across the street but it is where Westheimer curves so crossing it as a pedestrian is game of frogger at night with the drunk drivers abound.

Cute place… Not excited about steak night… Steak quality and flavor was nothing to talk about. With so many allergies I’m shocked that they would put nuts on there steak :( I will pass for steak night Tuesday

Had a great time last week. I have been here before but sat outside in back, inside last week made all the difference. It was more lively. Bar is nice, being inside i finally noticed there was a second bar upstairs. Service was pretty fast and mixed cocktails delicious. I ordered some quesadillas and they were quite delicious and filling(shared a third with a friend). Lovely décor inside. Only disappointment is that the parking lot is fairly small and some nights they have valet, so if you show up later you may want to find a spot on one of the back streets(which is what i did).

I was expecting something good to eat. And literally got an unseasoned meal that tasted like nothing. I actually am not picky about food, but this one was just.. yuck. I don’t think mimosas are worth that nasty meal. Chill environment though.

Went with a group of friends yesterday. This is a pretty disappointing place for Happy Hour. First, valet parking cost $ 5, which is not bad. But Hugo’s down the street have complimentary valet, and it is a nicer restaurant. We were in a group of 12, and our waitress was SOSLOW. she did not look motivated at her work. It took her 20 minutes before returning to our table. She left the water jug dry for over 30 minutes. She definitely needs more training. A few friends and I aren’t big on college football, so we asked this«Big Tall Guy» who carried a remote out(I don’t know for sure what he does there, but he delivered some of our food/drinks to our table, too). His gave us this dirty look, borderline disrespectful. Totally unprofessional, and he simply said: «We can only show Sports Channel». I mean, really? Is it shown anywhere within the restaurant that they can only show Sports Channel? This establishment is not even listed as a Sports Bar. I consider this: FALSEADVERTISEMENT. Now the food/drink. Happy hour selection sucks. I ordered the Chicken Tenders, nothing else from those limited options were appetizing. It was not bad, but wasn’t great either. Slightly greasy and not enough seasoning. The ranch was somehow rather thin, like it was mixed with water. I ordered Stella Artois on draft and it did not come with ice cold glass. Yes, they served Stella Artois almost at room temperature. Clearly the bartender was not taught on how to serve beer properly. That«Big Tall Guy» also managed to spilled some beer on my shirt/pants while giving it to me. Bottom line, the staff is out of control and I will gladly take my business elsewhere. WILLNOTCOMEBACK!

Hit up Royal Oak for happy hour with a coworker. What I like about their happy hour is that there are deals on both drinks and food and it lasts till 8 P.M. A lot of other spots ends their happy hour at 7 which isn’t enough time. They also have daily specials in addition to their standard happy hour specials so that’s nice. We shared some bottles of $ 10 wine and I went with the chicken tenders and calamari. Solid bar food, nothing amazing but nothing bad. They also give you five large chicken tenders so that’s definitely a lot of food for an app. We sat outside on the patio which is nice when the weather’s good. What really makes this a five star rating was the awesome service on top of everything. Our waitress checked in on us regularly, was nice and smiled a lot, and ended up giving us multiple tabs after we decided to stay longer and didn’t complain about it. I can’t remember her name but she was great.

I’ve dined here on two occasions and enjoyed my experience both times. Once on a Sunday and again on a Wednesday. Sunday’s are very, very busy. It took us a while to find an open table, but we managed to snag one upstairs. We ordered a few pitchers of mimosas and I split a burger and truffle fries with a friend — both extremely good. Wednesday’s are much more chill. The tables were all occupied, but it took a much shorter time to get a seat in comparison to a Sunday. My girlfriend and I ordered the Wednesday whiskey special and an order of the stuffed jalapeños. They were okay and had a good kick. Our server was sweet and friendly, but a little all over the place, so it took a while to get our second round. We’ll definitely be back for to partake in the weekly specials. There’s literally something to do every night of the week.

Oh Royal Oak… you’re my kryptonite and the death of me. SHWASTED. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. What do you guys put in your mimosas?! It’s so freaking strong but it tastes so good!!! The Blackberry Mimosas does it for me. Literally, every single time I’ve been here, the rest of my day is gone. A buddy wanted to meet up here for brunch and pre-game before the Super Bowl party. I knew this meant, «TURNTUP»! I almost ubered it here because I know the blackberry mimosas is my weakness. I had the Chicken & Waffles for lunch and it hit the spot. After we scarfed down our lunch, it was on! Between the 2 of us, we drank 3 pitchers of blackberry mimosas. It was a nice sunny day. The DJ was spinning some good EDM. We sat right by the DJ so I was feeling the music in my bones! Everyone there was pretty much wasted. A random guy was dancing in the middle of the patio and no fucks were given. I recorded him and watched it the next morning — it was pretty hilarious and everyone around him was super calm and chill about it. HA! We made it to the Super Bowl party and didn’t even make it through the 1st quarter. I got home, passed out, and woke up right after the game ended. Completely missed the game. So pissed off. The morning after, I had to explain to at least 10 different people at work how I missed the game because everyone wouldn’t STFU about it. Can you tell I’m salty as fuh? The last time I was here, I convinced a friend to stay out and drink with us and promised I’d take him home. He ended up driving ME home and it’s been an on-going joke. «Hey, come out! I promise I“ll take care of you!» #Ratchet #GetYourLifeTogether

I wish I could give 2 ½ stars at least. I mean it’s a cool place in the heart of «The Trose»(Montrose).totally not a mixed crowd by any means and We were totally the«black beans» in the rice on a Saturday around 10p.
Plentiful bar food and drink menu. I would suggest the following for the food. more salt on the Truffle fries as I have had better and the hot wings were just ok. certainly not hot. I ordered a Manhattan. it was good. the bartender did have to get the menu to see what was in it though. I would assume being located so close to Anvil that you wouldn’t have to look that up. interesting. We sat on the 2nd floor at the bar, great seats if you ask me, with the exception of people reaching over my shoulder to get drinks. Our bartender was«typical» for the area. white, skinny, beard. slight attitude. Valeting is your best bet in the area as street parking is whack. $ 5 bucks is totally worth it.

You would think that for a place that’s been in the Montrose neighborhood for awhile would be ah-mazing. Nope. I could say for the vibe that it gives off, and the prices they charge, things should be better. Tip 1: Valet parking is $ 5 if you want your car to be in their private lot. Tip 2: If it’s your first time there it’s not very clear on how to get a waitress down or where to get menus and order. We just sat down and after a few minutes a waitress came to help us. Tip 3: Food is okay. Nothing amazing. Tip 4: Really good service. Drinks and Food: We ordered the mint julep, jalepeno margarita, truffle fries, and I got the fish and chips. My friend ordered a salad. Mint julep was just gross. Watered down booze with a bad aftertaste. Jalepeno margarita had really good flavor. Just lacked the booze and something citrus-y. Truffle fries were the highlight of the night, although they weren’t the best I’ve had. Granted, the seasoning was generous and really good and flavorful. BUT! they served them thicker cut fries. I personally think the seasoning would work better with thinner/crispier fries. If the fries are too thick the flavor can get lost in all the starchiness. Fish and Chips: Nope, not going to order again. Fish was overcooked and tasted like it was fried in old oil. Fish was flaky but a little dry. Malt vinegar couldn’t help the taste so I had to drown my fish in ketchup. My friend also said her salad was ok– she wasn’t too crazy about the dressing. Service Service was on point. Our waitress brought us everything we needed and she was very attentive despite being very busy(I think she was in charge of the entire patio). I hear they have good brunch so I’ll probably come back to check that out.
